Music and Such

So, what's up with the recent sitemeter hits coming from the mid Atlantic states? Y'all finding everything to your liking?

Anyhoo, Nations is all on about music and shit. I like music well enough. I used to be a band nerd. Well, not exactly a nerd. I was the sort of disturbingly creepy kid that noone dared mess with, so technically, not a nerd. I was in band nonetheless. And I played trumpet. There's a fact that most of you didn't know. And I was pretty damn good.

I always wanted to play guitar, though. They didn't offer that instrument when I was in band. Strictly your basic school band shit like clarinet and flute which were considered the "girl" instruments, and trumpet, sax, and trombone-the "boy" instruments. Did I mention that I went to a goofy parochial school, and apparently, instruments have gender? Retards.

So anyway, a couple years ago, or three, I went and bought a nice Fender. I'm currently teaching myself. Not that difficult, except I have kinda short fingers, so I don't exactly use any orthodox technique. Where the hell am I going with this anyway?

Oh yeah. Music I'm into.

Kinda weird tastes, I guess. I like AC/DC. I totally dig Thunderstruck, Hells Bells, Mistress For Christmas, Back In Black, Dirty Deeds...

Black metal. Like Immortal, Satyricon, Emperor, Amon Amarth, Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir.

Misc. metal: Fear Factory, Lacuna Coil, Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, Tiamat, Tool, Rob Zombie. Some Danzig. Old Metallica (pre-Black Album) before they turned into crybaby pussies who didn't want anyone sharing their music on the interwebby.

And when I get nostalgic: Motley Crue, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, White Zombie. Recently I've been digging some Whitesnake, Great White, WASP, Maiden, and Dio. Go figure.

And classic shit like The Doors, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, old Heart, Janis.

Also like Massive Attack, some Goldfrapp, Portishead, Concrete Blonde (one of the most underappreciated bands EVER), Cake, Depeche Mode, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Smiths, The Sisters of Mercy, The Cult, The Sugar Cubes (gotta love them "The" bands).

Yep. That's about all I can think of for now. Blame the adult beverages.

God Bless America

Today I went and exercised my Second Amendment right. I drove on down to good ol' Wally World and purchased myself a beautiful Remington shotgun. I love the fact that I can buy a gun at Wally's. (And $100 below MSRP, too!) It just warms the cockles of my cold, cold heart.

Florida is an interesting little state, though. I have the right to purchase the gun today, but I have to wait until next Saturday to pick it up. And I can't buy ammo when I go to pick up the gun. I could, and did buy some today. If I want to buy ammo when I pick up the gun, I have to either buy it first and go put it in my car, or go put the gun in the car and then come back in and buy the ammo. That's just silly on so many levels. Actually, the State says I only have to wait 3 days, but since I live in Banana Republic Hell Hole Land waaaay doooown south, I get to wait an extra 2 days. Weee!!!

Another interesting/cool thing about the good ol' State of Florida is I don't need no stinking permits or licenses to buy a gun (unlike the People's Republik of Kallyfornia). If I want to carry a pistol on my person I am required to get a Concealed Carry Permit which is licensed by the Florida Department of Agriculture, whose Commissioner is Charles Bronson. Charles Bronson! I shit you not. Go look it up if you don't believe me.

And another amusing thing about Wally's: you can buy alcohol and tobacco along with your firearm. One stop shopping, that is!
