Arrr...none of these lilly-livered landlubbers let me know that the 19th of September be Talk Like A Pirate Day so I missed it!

Well blow me down!

I'd rather be a ninja. :P

I thought you were already a ninja? ;D

Anyhoo, I had to replace the drain in the kitchen sink today. The old one was corroded and the coupler holding it to the 1.5 inch drain pipe was corroded and crumbling apart so I had to go to Home Depot to buy a whole new set. It only cost me 9-fiddy for the parts and supplies and it took about 10 minutes to get it fixed.

I hate to think what a plumber would have charged--probably $75-$150. Such a ripoff! At least at the store the guy in the plumbing dept was very helpful and told me exactly how to do it and even took one of the units out of the packaging to show me. I would have figured it out on my own but I got the job done super quick with his instructions fresh in my head. I feel like calling the manager and telling him that his employee was very helpful unlike a lot of employees at various places.

Had to make the rounds at the various shops with the old woman after getting my supplies at Home Depot. Bought a bunch of food at Penn Dutch. They have made that store a lot nicer since the way I remembered it as a kid.

Anyway, any babysitting this weekend?

Well, ninjas are known to be invisible to the casual eye and you can't see me so I guess that proves it. ;P

Ah, some tinkering at the old ship of Theseus? :)

How so? It doesn't look like much from the outside.

Nope. I'm just sitting in my chair suffering some cold or flu. What about you? Any interesting activities?

Yup. ;P

Now the old woman wants me to get another drain for the other side of the sink(it's one of those stainless steel ones that is divided w/two drains). I don't want to get involved with that. I'd rather wait and if it starts to have problems *then* replace it. I don't want to open a can of worms where old plumbing is concerned. As it is, I got lucky with the one I replaced. Whoever last tinkered with the connections had one pipe stuck into place with plumbers putty(an elbow-type pipe) and the other end of it was connected to the drain by compression fitting(the one I replaced). I was lucky in that the way it was rigged up wasn't leaking and I didn't have to deal with any soldering or complicated plumbing techniques.

How so? It doesn't look like much from the outside.

They've done a minor cosmetic addition to the entrance of the store. They have bi-folding automatic doors now. Before it was just open air. The entryway had a small produce area. It's still the same way(produce at the entrance) but it's all closed in now. They added a few more bins for produce as you walk into the main part of the store where the meat is. It used to be mainly a meat market. The rest of the store is pretty much the same as it always was. They have crammed in a few more check-out counters, though. And they have fresh baked bread now. I don't recall if they always had that. The seafood counter is the same and I think the deli counter is too. They may have made it a little bigger, but I might be misremembering.

Anyway, it is a crazy place to shop. The customers are like animals tearing at a dead carcass and some of the employees are not so friendly. The prices are good and that's what keeps the place doing $$$$ in business. IMO, the produce is not always the best quality so you have to be very selective with that but the meat is usually pretty good. We have been buying lamb from there and it has been excellent. Lamb can get a little gamey but what we have bought there has been very mild tasting(and as cheap as you can get it) so it's worth going.

I'm just sitting in my chair suffering some cold or flu.

Awww, my poor ninja! :::hugs::: Feel better, eh?

What about you? Any interesting activities?

Probably a little hedge trimming and try not to do to my mother what Cris Cyborg did to that French girl in the Muay Thai fight. :/ (the old woman is being a mega bitch lately)

A little. :)

I've been watching another Swedish cop show. "Maria Wern". It's a bit predictable and in some ways unrealistic but I guess it's okay.

(the old woman is being a mega bitch lately)

Sorry to hear that. I assume there's no particular reason for that?

Haven't a clue. I was thinking about that the other night. There might be a pattern to it. It seems like she's okay for a while and then suddenly she has a need to start shit with me like she gets some pleasure out of the power play.

I think I'm going to start keeping a log of when she is like this. I'd like to determine causation. Maybe it's linked to the lunar cycle? Or perhaps it's a hormonal cycle?

BTW, did you get my email? :)

Forget to answer that one. Oops. Yes, I've seen that movie. It's okay, I think. A redemption story, I guess.

I'd like to determine causation.

If you succeed at that then it could put a little more control over your life in your hands.

BTW, did you get my email? :)

Yes, I have and thank you. I haven't gotten a get well card since... well, ever. You're the first. :)

I've been taking some extra vitamins (in pill form) and catching some extra sleep. In fact, I need to go to bed right now. See ya in the mornin'!

I will have to watch Daybreakers again if they replay it. I got about 20 minutes into it and then we had a real gully-washer of a thunderstorm that lasted for 45 minutes. The Dish was out for the duration so I missed the bulk of the movie and only caught the last 30 minutes. :( It didn't seem to be the usual Vampire genre movie.

could put a little more control over your life in your hands.

I'm trying very hard to not respond to her and the BS but it's sooooooo hard not to! Especially if it's something particularly stupid/ridiculous/untrue. And she's such a hypocrite that it hard to resist giving her a bit of her own medicine.

And I get *very* annoyed when she keeps asking me the same thing over and over. I'll answer and then a few seconds or minutes later she'll ask again, I answer. Repeat, rinse. Repeat, rinse. It's sooooo frustrating/infuriating. It's partly her being consumed with her own thoughts/crap she's spewing and completely ignoring what I'm saying.

The other thing that she does that makes me completely nuts is if I do something or tell her something, then if she's talking to someone she'll tell them that *she* did or said it. It's particularly annoying when she tells it to *me* like she's informing me of something. I'll be like, 'Yeah, *I'm* the one who told *you*!' or 'Yeah, it was *me* who did that, not you.' Her response is that I'm being petty. :::facepalm::: It would be like her telling people that *she* was the one who replaced the drain in the sink. It's untrue and it's like stealing in a way.

Her latest and favorite slur to use against me is 'you're just like your father'. That's like the ultimate slur in her mind because she hates my father has always criticized him, called him names, belittled etc. He *is* an asshole in a lot of ways but I'm not at all like him. The thing is, *any* person who is subjected to her bullshit for any length of time is going to "act like my father" eventually--that's to say, you are going to start having the same reactions to her bullshit. I told her as much--the common denominator is her.

I haven't gotten a get well card since... well, ever. You're the first. :)

That's too bad. I'll just have to continue being a thoughtful and most excellent friend! ;P ;D

I've been taking some extra vitamins (in pill form) and catching some extra sleep

I was going to suggest that, but I didn't want to come across as being a nag. You seem to get a lot of colds. Maybe a good probiotic in addition to the vitamins would help?

See ya in the mornin'!

Okie dokie. Sweet dreams!

What's that dish made of? Paper and aluminium foil? ;P

It's like you're talking to a machine. Are you sure she doesn't have Alzheimer's or something?

I'll just have to continue being a thoughtful and most excellent friend!

Yes, you will have to. ;)

I was going to suggest that, but I didn't want to come across as being a nag.

I can take it from you. :P

It was raining sooo hard that the signal was blocked.

I've thought that from time to time but I think it's just the PD. PD *is* considered a mental illness.

Anyhoo, have a good night if I don't see ya later! (I have doc appt duty and possibly shopping after so I have no idea when I'll get back home :/ )

Hey, what do you think about this? According to this article venting your anger makes it worse.

So it's better to relax and distract yourself if you feel the need to vent, I guess? IDK.

I'll have to read that article when I have some time. I have another doc appt duty in 20 minutes. :/

I think I saw something about that study a few days ago. IDK, I always feel *better* after I vent. It would be great if I could remove the source of aggravation. ;P

I told the old woman a couple days ago when she was complaining about me reacting to her that she could just not say anything and then there would be no conflict. What a novel idea! /sarc It's like antagonizing a dog until you get it to growl and snap and then complaining that the dog growls and snaps and that it has issues. ::facepalm:: Well don't fucking antagonize it!

So how are things with you? Did you ever find any suitable sweaters or cold weather clothes?

I think the article addresses that.

You're not a dog by any meaning of the word.

I'm still looking. I've resorted to checking some websites for nice winter clothes. Still nada.

I've ordered a couple of books that seem interesting though. Something to look forward to.

I'm not suggesting that I am. It's just a very common way of illustrating that over here. :)

That's always fun. I like ordering catalogues and anticipating their arrival, too. 'Tis a pity you don't have a Cabela's over there. They have lots of nice cold weather clothing for dudes.

Yep. Oh, the anticipation! :P

Cabela's stuff looks okay. Not a lot of cotton sweaters. I prefer the natural stuff over polyester.

Hey, aren't those crazy Germans having their Oktoberfest? I guess you've never been to that. What about your sis?
