We're having rain and freezing temperatures over here. :)
D: but no sneeuw? ;P
You think Irish-ness is a genetic thing? I don't think that's how it works. :)
Take it up with 23 and Me. It's just that double standards are annoying. If someone had made disparaging remarks about gays, Hispanics, or fat people (which he's all 3), I'm sure there would have been a reprimand or complaint to HR. We were already warned by management not to make remarks and to keep our thoughts to ourselves regarding the gay wedding that we had. I'd like to see some consistent enforcement of the rules (we all had to sign paperwork regarding discrimination and harassment when we were hired).
How's your Gaelic these days? :D ;P
I know "sláinte" and that's about it, but I kill it on the pronunciation. ;P Some lady toasted me with "skol" the other night during the wine tasting and I returned it with a sláinte. My coworker got a kick out of it. ;)
They probably didn't mean that you are literally 1/4 Irish just that your DNA resembles the DNA of people who live in Ireland now. Do you actually feel Irish though?
I know "sláinte" and that's about it
According to some youtube movie that word sounds something like "sletje" which in Dutch means "little slut" :D :D
Of course not as I've never lived in Ireland. I *do* feel like a grouchy Floridian, though. 100% on that. ;P
"sletje" which in Dutch means "little slut" :D :D
LOL!
Where did you learn that word BTW?
Probably on the TV from one of those travel shows.
Well as St Patrick's is tomorrow, QoH had me make corned beef and cabbage yesterday(with some carrots). As the Sam's Club brand that I bought turned out really yummy, she wanted me to buy more today. I managed to buy 2 nice ones. :) Also bought myself some beersezzz as a treat. ;D
Don't act like you're all put out by it. I'm sure it wasn't enough to amount to anything. It's not like it's Buffalo, NY, lake effect proportions. ;P If we got snow here it would definitely make me happy. ;D
Do you actually care about celebrating St Patrick's day? Or does QoH care?
Nope! I just like the fact that corned beef usually goes on sale for the holiday. I like to stock up since I like eating corned beef. ;)
I had a chat with one of the sample-ladies at Sam's about that. She said she liked corned beef and wondered why people only ate it for St Patrick's. I told her that I buy it year round and eat it whenever I want. That made her happy. ;D
Green beer? ;P
Or your favorite brand?
I would never drink green beer. Leave that hokey shit for the rubes. I *was* going to buy myself a Guinness stout, but it was $1.79 for one 12 ounce bottle which didn't seem worth it to me, so I just bought my usual 4 pack of Miller High Life which are full pints for $3.79 :)
And since QoH has been on the warpath lately about buying another pole saw, I went ahead and ordered one from Walmart. It should be delivered to the store and ready for me to pick up by this coming Wednesday. Since I had my second pay check direct deposited, I finally had the money to pay for it. :)
Ugh, experiencing the Ma Nature paradox ATM. She's being a bitch and I'm seriously uncomfortable, but I have the overwhelming urge to play with a willy. Good thing you're safely on the other side of the Atlantic, Arekino-san! ;P
It does have a very particular flavor and texture I think. I'm not fond of it.
I think deli-style has a weird texture. Home-made is meaty and delicious. Also, the Hungarian-style, sweet and sour tomato-based sauce, baked one that a former employer used to make was really delicious. :)
Well, I've been off from work for 4 days now and QoH is driving me nuts. I'm ready to go back and earn some moolah. :/
Same brand as the old one, but slightly different style to the handle of the pole. The newest model that is sold in some stores is shit. I'm lucky to be able to have found this older model at Walmart. I hope it's as good as the first one I had.
Have you heard from any of the other companies you've applied to BTW?
No. And that is why I'm glad I stopped listening to QoH and went ahead and applied to the art center again. Just because QoH hates the place (she hates everything), doesn't mean I do. People actually like *me*. When she insisted on being conjoined with me, I missed out on lots of things because people can't stand her because she's such an asshole, but since she wants to be with me every moment of the day, I get passed over. Since I have a reputation for being a good employee and QoH is no longer in the picture work wise, I figured if I reapplied there I'd get rehired. When you apply to other businesses where they don't know you, you're just one of many people applying and don't have much of a chance. I've never gotten hired anywhere like that. I've only ever gotten jobs where I already knew someone there.
I did tell you that all 4 of the management-level peeps at work have already personally thanked me for being a good, hard working, competent employee, haven't I? ;D I figured if I told them the best way to thank me is with a raise might have come across as too snarky too soon. ;P I also nixed the 'not all heroes wear capes' remark. Soon I won't be holding back. ;P
Well, you have to be cautious when going for a pole. :)
Ma Nature was giving me sexy times dreams last night where I was anything but cautious. ;P
Oh, I forgot to mention that I discovered a very talented musician on youtoob when I was looking for Roy Clark videos. She goes by the name Mean Mary and she's a bluegrass/folk musician. She totally slays on the banjo, guitar, fiddle, and several other instruments, plus her singing is pretty good and doesn't annoy me like a lot of female singers. I've been looking at a lot of her videos and even though I'm not really a fan of the folk genre, she's so freaking talented and does more historical type melodies that I can't help but like her music. And the other night I discovered that she will be playing at a cafe in N Miami at the end of June IIRC. If QoH wasn't such a lunatic I just might consider going, but I definitely don't need to put up with QoH's bullshit over it. I can hear it now, her bitching about it being "too dangerous, you will be attacked, car broken into/stolen, being around drug addict hippies" etc. Trying to have an enjoyable evening simply isn't worth having to deal with her bs. :/
And unfortunately I'm not at work tonight and tomorrow night so I'm missing Foreigner and Alice Cooper. Booooo!!! (But I did ask a coworker to at least get me the Playbills for both shows.)
Then again, maybe that's just the Dutch way of thinking.
But I thought you Dutch folks had a reputation for being direct and not holding back? ;P
Ma Nature needs to get her sexy ass over here and hand me a dream or two. ;P
Maybe if you take some melatonin pills. Lots of people report vivid dreams when they take that.
I've always liked banjo music and bluegrass.
I like banjo music which is why I was looking up Roy Clark videos. Mean Mary was a good find for me. :)
I assume they didn't need the extra pair of hands?
I guess you were posting at the same time I was. Alex, lovely wonderful Alex, called and needs me Wednesday so I get to see Alice Cooper after all :D and also for Saturday. :)
I get to see Alice Cooper after all :D and also for Saturday. :)
Yay for employment. :)
BTW we had local elections today plus a referendum (possibly the last one ever). Things haven't been going as well as one would wish in my town. A lot of shops have had to close because of the economic crisis and people preferring to buy stuff via the internet. That's a nationwide phenomenon I think. Something needs to change.
Well, unfortunately I wasn't at work long enough to actually see Alice Cooper or Nita Strauss. I *did* walk through the backstage area and saw which dressing rooms they would be using before they restricted access to us and I *did* poke my head into the theatre while the stage hands were setting up. The drum kit looked pretty sick and the stage set looked pretty awesome, too. And I asked my friend "C" who works in the VIP room if she would get me a Playbill from Foreigner last night and one from Alice tonight which she did. :) And when I was leaving I got to see which t-shirts they were selling. Too expensive. I can get the same thing cheaper on the toobs. ;)
Also, you don't really know what it's like to "play with a willy". ;P
Which is why I'd like to play with one. ;P ;D (how *did* you miss that? ;P)
Anyway, had another easy one today. Had to set up for 300 peeps theatre-style in the ballroom for a meeting. E and S brought up the chairs while I set them up in rows. S didn't trust E to do it correctly so he gave that job to me. Afterward he told me that the boss ladies were impressed and didn't change anything since they liked the way I did it. ;D
They also had coffee, sodas, and cookies for the meeting so we had to set up 4 tables for that. Afterward we just had to clear away the food and drinks and take off the table cloths (which I'm just remembering that I left the bag of those on the bottom of the cart with the coffee stuff that went to another room. Oh well, no big deal S can take care of it tomorrow LOL)
Saturday is another easy one. Just a post show reception with champagne. :)
If you're doing it without a measuring tape or way to mark the floor to keep things even, it helps if you have good intrinsic visual/spacial/eyeballing abilities (which I do) ;P .
Well I was definitely feeling it today in my shoulder muscles. Lifting and placing 300 chairs is quite a workout. D:
I don't think the thing on Saturday will be much work. And IIRC Laila Ali is supposed to be at the gig on Tuesday.
Ya know, I was having a look at the Luna Star Cafe's website (the joint where Mean Mary is supposed to be doing a gig) and the food and drinks that they serve look pretty good. The food is sorta Italian/Mediterranean and they have many good imported beers, not the usual commercial quality crap. There were no prices listed, so that usually means expensive, but it looks like a place I'd at least like to check out. It's really too bad that QoH is such a dick. It's simply not worth dealing with her bs. And the fact that I have no one to go with me. Going places by oneself isn't very fun. :/
I'd never heard of her but apparently she's Muhammed Ali's daughter and a boxer as well? What will she be doing at the gig? She's about your age BTW.
Going places by oneself isn't very fun.
I guess not... although it's probably more fun than not going places at all. Why would QoH object anyway (besides out of habit ;) )? How is going to the Luna Star Cafe different from going to work?
She's giving a speech and then doing a meet-and-greet after-party thingy. I remember when she was boxing. IIRC she had an undefeated record, although that wasn't too difficult as there weren't too many quality female boxers back when she was active.
Why would QoH object anyway (besides out of habit ;) )?
Because she's a controlling bitch who can't stand the thought of anyone having fun, and also paranoid about bad things happening, or that I'm out doing nefarious things. It's all so ridiculous.
How is going to the Luna Star Cafe different from going to work?
Because theoretically I'd be going there to have fun and not going somewhere to bust my ass and earn money. And BTW she *does* get all butthurt over me going to work because she can't control what I'm doing there and also because I get to eat different food than what she has at home and she's green with envy over that. She really is a piece of work.
I'm soooooooo glad I'm going to work tomorrow. It keeps me from becoming homicidal. She was so over-the-top ridiculous with her bullshit today when we went out to do the grocery shopping that I don't think that I've ever cursed so much at her (out of earshot) in my life. :/
Forgot to mention: you'll get a chance to see Mean Mary yourself as she's coming to your fine country at the end of August IIRC and playing a few gigs. ;P
Hey! The lady from PETA last night said everone she's met so far in Florida has been very nice to her and she's yet to have a bad experience. ;D (Me and C helped her bring some ginormous boxes to her ride after their meeting. She was sick with a cold and we felt bad about that, then we chatted with her a bit while we waited for her ride to come.) BTW, Edie Falco was there for the meeting. I was about 3 meters from her at one point. ;)
They had all vegan cookies and stuff for that. The vegan brownies were actually pretty good. The cookies were meh.
She's only visited here. She should try living here. ;P
Does Florida not actually like PETA?
No idea. I think they have good intentions, but sometimes get misguided in their actions.
But it must be fun meeting celebrities (which I guess she is?).
It is kinda fun. I didn't get to actually talk to her, though.
Are those just normal brownies but without butter and eggs?
I'm not sure of the ingredients, but I detected a slight coconut taste to them. They were very moist.
Wait, do brownies have eggs in them? If not, they should. ;)
IIRC regular brownies do have eggs as an ingredient.
In QoH paranoid accusations news, she accused me of "sneaking out" last night citing as "evidence" her assertion that "when she got up this morning, the chain was off the front door and the door was cracked open and light was shining through". 100% bs delusion. (What likely happened was she forgot to put the chain on after I got in with all my stuff last night. Because of the nature of wooden doors, the fluctuations in humidity causes the door to warp a bit and causes a tiny gap between the door and the jamb letting in a little light from outside.)
I was pretty tired after I got home and only managed to stay up to watch half of the replay of a program that I normally watch and went to bed at 1:30am. I slept like a log and woke up a couple minutes before 10am this morning. She's a fucking liar and *really* gaslighting me with that bullshit.
The irony is that after I woke up, I finished listening to the last 35 minutes of a podcast that I had started listening to the night before, then watched 2 church programs, then got up to pee then went to cut in 2 pieces and shrink-wrap the pork loin I had bought. When I came downstairs, the first thing I noticed was the front door unchained and not quite closed tightly as the sunlight was shining through the small gap between the door and the jamb. (QoH was outside watering some plants) :/
And she's also gotten into the habit of spying on me. Whenever I go outside, she sneaks out behind me (thinking I don't notice) to watch me like a hawk. It's getting really fucking tiresome dealing with her bullshit. >:(
Is she trying to make you second guess your own memory then? Weird.
No idea. She's nuts.
Does she think you have insecurities WRT that?
I think she likes provoking reactions which then support her confirmation biases in regards to her negative opinions of people. Eg. She accuses me of having a temper and then relentlessly niggles and harangues me until I lose my temper therefore confirming her opinion. Isn't that convenient how that works?
What's the attraction of those kind of TV programs? What do you like about them?
I like the ones that are motivational or teach things IRT personal growth. The 2 I watched were Charles Stanley and his son's program afterward (Andy Stanley). Andy's program was especially relevant since it was about relationships and whether you are living following the 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 definition of love or if you are a suspicious person who thinks the worst of people and creates an atmosphere where your suspicions/accusations become self-fulfilling. Eg. QoH always flipping out about anything I tell her, so when I stop telling her things she accuses me of being "secretive".
QoH is a living cautionary tale about how *not* to behave. :/
So have you lot defrosted yet? Has spring sprung or is winter clinging on for dear life? ;P
Ugh, I'm tired. I'm glad Alex let me leave at 8pm even though Laila Ali said she'd come back to take a pic with us. She was really nice BTW. I got a pic of her, but it was from a distance. Trying not to let the bosses see me. ;P
I have to go in at 11am tomorrow. Almost 12 hours tomorrow. Then Wayne Huizenga died and the memorial service is Thursday, so I have to go in at 7am. D:
Some customers probably don't like it if you take their picture.
It wasn't Laila who was the problem, it was the fact that the VP was there and she gives off a bitchy vibe.
12 hours of continuous work? Really? Is that even legal?
Sure, they just have to make sure we're fed and have breaks.
From the way you say that I suspect he was a very well-known individual?
He was the billionaire owner of the Panthers, Marlins, and Dolphins at one time and he and his wife (who died last year) were big philanthropists. They donated the money to build the building that the bistro and ballroom are in here.
BTW, Laila was cool with the pics. She took a picture with almost all of the guests and then came back (after I had left) and took pics with 2 of my coworkers. :)
So what is it that you had to do for 12 WHOLE HOURS?? ;)
We had to set up a shareholders meeting for a law firm in one room and then they had a dinner for them afterward in the ballroom. Also there was a ton of setup that had to be done for Wayne Huizenga's memorial service today. They were expecting 3,500 people and we had to have both theaters set up for that, plus the ballroom had to be reset for overflow seating and for the press. Also one of the rooms backstage had to be set for Mr. H's family and VIPs. (I said hello to Coach Don Shula who is legendary here and also Governor Rick Scott who my boss almost ran over in the parking lot [long story D:])
Unfortunately, we only got about 800 in attendance. The good part was I got sent with old boss to buy take-out containers so all the staff could take home the tons of food that was left over and also big pans with lids so food could be donated to a food bank. That would have pleased Mr. H. :)
Anyway, coming back into the back lot by security (the VIP'S were parked back there) my boss was driving crazy and almost ran over the Governor as he was walking out with his security detail. LOL I just smiled and waved at him and he smiled and waved back. It was kinda funny. ;P
I'm pretty tired now and glad I have tomorrow off.
Fine, it's my feet and back that hurt. My back isn't really bothering me down low like when I first started, but the soreness seems to have traveled up to between my shoulder blades for some reason.
I think they should hire a massage therapist for our department. ;P
Nope! She was the one who was refusing to yield. She saw them trying to cross, but she kept driving at them. I told her that it was the Governor, then she rolled down the window and said she wouldn't want to run him over, trying to play it off.
Maybe you can buy one of those massage devices? :)
QoH has the back massager that you put on a chair, plus another hand-held massager that she has hidden somewhere. I could suggest it to the big boss V, but he'd likely say it's not in the budget. ;P (his answer to a lot of things)
I'm watching an easter service from the Basilica in DC ATM. IDK how the rituals that they do are in any way Christian. Very syncretistic pagan-y stuff. The choir is very good, though.
I'm supposed to be baking the ham tonight, but QoH is taking up space in the kitchen and being a pain in the ass. :/
That's the norm for Christians isn't it? To christianify local pagan religions? That's why we have Christmas and Easter the way it is today. Or maybe that's a specificly catholic thing to do? Protestants tend to be religious purists, right?
QoH is taking up space in the kitchen
What's she doing in the kitchen? Besides being a pain in the ass?
Or maybe that's a specificly catholic thing to do? Protestants tend to be religious purists, right?
Boom. I bet you can tell which camp I'm in. ;P
What's she doing in the kitchen? Besides being a pain in the ass?
I don't remember. Just taking up space and getting in the way.
Well tonight at work we just have a pre-show beverage tasting. Took about an hour to set up. Now we'll be waiting around for several hours until it's over. Then reset for the Carbonell awards after party that happens Monday. Looks like we have to get rid of 2 tables and bring up 14 high cocktail tables and 8 long ones. Sigh.
I misread the floor plan. We actually had to get rid of all 12 large round tables D: and bring up 25 cocktail tables plus all the other ones. For some reason S was being passive aggressive, or at least that seemed to be the vibe he was giving off, and left me to do just about all the setup stuff by myself. He acts like he's the only one who does any work there, but from what I've noticed about him is he tends to try to do everything himself instead of delegating duties, then gets an attitude that he's the only one working hard.
^I guess I didn't tell you what happened the other night at the dinner for the lawyers' group. We were set for 80 IIRC but I think there were only 64 guests. Their dinner tables were set for wine service so they had wine glasses at the table. Part of our duties is to set the bar up with glasses and product for the bartenders. I had plenty of glasses set on the bar back table for the cocktail hour. Neither bartender asked me for more. So about 5 minutes before the dinner service started, S comes to the bar and acted like I let all the glassware run out and accused me of not doing my job. Initially I was kinda like 'oh shit' because I was busy helping with some other stuff and hadn't checked the bar for a while, but when I went and counted the glasses that were left, there were almost 50 rocks glasses and 12 wine (keep in mind that there were only 64 guests, 5 minutes left until dinner, and there would be wine service at the table). So basically he was trying to act like everything gets fucked up if he's not present(he said that to the bartenders). I got furious and vented to the bartenders who agreed with me, and then to Alex. I told her he better not ever talk to me like that again or else there was going to be a big problem. She told me she knew I was doing my job and not to worry about it and she'd speak to him.
Another thing I noticed is how greedy for tips he is. If there's a bar where the guests are tipping a lot, he's like Johnny-on-the-Spot trying to be there doing everything so he can get lots of tips. The night of the lawyer's dinner, they weren't tipping and coincidentally he disappeared for a large part of the evening.
So I guess him leaving me to set 90% of the room yesterday was some sort of way to get back at me. Such petty Jr high bs.
Oh, and he told me that C got fired the night of Mr H's memorial service because she got really drunk. I asked other C if she had heard that, and she said she didn't know. I don't really trust either of them. Other C likes to cover her ass, that's why I didn't stay friends with her after I left 10 years ago. I guess I'll find out if I see R. R told me that C drank, but I never saw her do it at work. It would be epically stupid of her to do that since she's quite poor and big boss V used to let her come in and get hours doing random tasks.
Whenever we have the symphony or opera, this guy who used to be a host on the now defunct classical music radio station comes in to do a brief lecture and pairs it with a cocktail. The last one I worked with him he did Manhattans because it was the music of Cole Porter. This one was for the opera Orfeo et Euridice and he served an Aperol Spritz with it. I tasted it and it wasn't too bad, although not something I'd drink.
How's your Easter going BTW?
Fine until QoH got out of bed. I woke up at 9am and watched a couple videos on yootoob then some TV until about 11am. I heard QoH turn off the TV in her room and go back to bed. So I came out of my room, went to the bathroom, then downstairs to try to salvage what was left of the bok choy that I originally salvaged after QoH had thrown it in the garbage. (I had bought it from the Oriental store to make stir fry and of course she has to find fault with it like she does all food and overreacts and threw it away even though it was fine. If there's a bad spot, you cut it off. You don't throw the whole damn thing away.
So because she's paranoid and a control freak and has to spy on me every minute of the day, she comes downstairs after I had been in the kitchen for maybe 5 minutes. I didn't want her to see what I was doing, but she can move pretty damn fast for a cripple when she wants to see what I'm doing. Unfortunately I couldn't hide it before she reached the kitchen and she wanted to know where I got it. I lied and said from work. As there wasn't much there, I think she believed me.
She had wanted me to make stir fry again a couple of days ago but I hadn't had a chance since I've been working so was going to do it today.
Long story short, what should have been 15 minutes of prep work and 5 minutes to cook turned into a 5 hour long ordeal with her usual fault finding with the vegetables, throwing perfectly good ones away, arguing with me and calling me names (her usual abuse), shouting, projecting, and being her usual miserable bitch self and me having to retreat to my room several times.
I finally managed to cook it, but she started right back up with me when I came back down to do it, so I just turned the stove off and slide the wok off the burner and went back to my room (where I am now writing this).
I can hardly wait to get back to work tomorrow. Now I know why my paternal unit worked all the time-- to be away from her, and the fact that she treats money like water. All the food that she throws away for stupid paranoid reasons costs money. Food here isn't cheap. I've already had to retrieve some freshly sliced onion out of the garbage. Now she threw away 2 more. Those onions cost about $1 each. I'm so tired of her and her bullshit. >:(
And she threw away about 2 pounds of roasted pork because she claimed that it was "all fat". I retrieved it of course, and put it in the basement fridge where she can't find it. When I checked it, it has a small vein of fat, it's not "all" fat. SMH
I started out with the bok choose cutting off any spots or bad pieces. Then she comes along behind me because she "can't trust me" because she thinks I'm leaving "poison" on it. Then she takes it and starts cutting even more off.
She did the same with the onion. I pealed the skin and cut the ends off, then slices it. She doesn't like "thin" rings, so any of the concentric circles of rings that she deems "too thin" she comes and throws them away. If the onion has the part in the middle that is starting to sprout, she deems it "GMO" and throws it away. She cut one in half that was like that and because it had a green sprout in the middle she threw the whole thing away. I had to retrieve half of the sliced onion and 2 whole onions that she threw away.
Then the same bullshit with every other ingredient. I get pissed off and retreat to my room several times while I'm trying to prepare the meal for at least a half hour at a time.
It's sooooo infuriating when she's literally looking for any tiny thing to complain about and then throw perfectly good food away.
Does she know how much (or how little?) money you make? I kinda hope you didn't tell her.
I get direct deposit and then they send my pay stub to the house for record keeping. She opened my mail to see how much I made(totally illegal to open another person's mail BTW). >:(
Anyway, no matter what I do she's going to bitch about it. She insisted I get a job, which I did, and at a place that I knew would be an almost sure thing. Now that I'm working, she belittles what I do and how much I make. She did the same shit with paternal unit.
Now she's picking fights with me every day and accusing me of shit that her sick mind imagines. None of it is based in reality. She just has to have a scapegoat because she can't except responsibility for her own shortcomings and needs someone to blame.
Also I thing she's trying to set up some sort of self fulfilling prophecy to make it so intolerable that I leave, then it proves in her sick mind how "bad" I am. It's all such bullshit.
Well, the after party for the awards show was pretty good. The DJ played decent music and it didn't get crazy. I was the designated "head counter" (I told Alex that she owes me for that BTW ;P) and had to use the clicker to count each person who entered. I still managed to get tipped a few bucks from one of the bartenders despite that.
I have to be in early at 7am tomorrow. The good part is it's a full breakfast buffet that we get to partake in after the guests leave. :D I'll be eating lots of bacon, sausage, and maybe some waffles. :)
If I'm feeling up to it, I'll get gas for my car at one of the cheap places near the port and then maybe go by the animal shelter to see the doggehs and kittehs. ;P
BTW, I'm getting to watch the new Roseanne tonight (unfortunately I missed the premier because of work and forgot to record it). It's just as funny as the original. I'm actually laughing out loud at a lot of jokes. I usually don't laugh at "comedies" because most aren't funny. :)
Because sometimes I feel like petting doggehs and kittehs.
I didn't stop by there, though. When I left work, it was starting to rain a little. By the time I got down near where the animal shelter is, it was full-on white-out conditions. It rained so hard that it was crazy. It wasn't raining by the time I got almost home, so I just got gas at my usual place. It was only a few cents difference, so NBD.
And there were two fighter jets that flew over my workplace this morning. They were hauling ass and it was a little disconcerting. Never did find out what was up with that. Just glad it wasn't any international shenanigans. :/
And finally, when I was listening to Tammy B's podcast from last night, she said the exact same thing about the new Roseanne show as I did. :)
Okay, found out that Trump invoked the Insurrection Act today and is calling up National Guard troops to guard the border against the caravan of invaders coming up through Mexico. Since Florida is a border state I'm assuming that our Air National Guard reservists are getting called up from Homestead Air Reserve Base. Just wondering why they chose to fly a route directly over downtown FtL.
she said the exact same thing about the new Roseanne show as I did.
Maybe the show appeals to a particular type of audience? I haven't seen it yet, though.
Trump invoked the Insurrection Act today and is calling up National Guard troops to guard the border against the caravan of invaders coming up through Mexico.
Wow. Sounds like some huddled masses are going to get themselves shot. :/
Maybe the show appeals to a particular type of audience?
It appeals to regular working class people who have struggled with tough economic times and various other family issues. Unfortunately I missed the premier. That seems to be the only one with any overt political stuff. The one I saw was just garden variety family issues like Roseanne having trouble getting up the stairs because of her knees (Dan "acquired" one of those lift chairs for her) and the bratty disrespectful granddaughter's behavior. It's pretty much just like the old Roseanne but with everyone older. ;P The snark is still hilarious. :)
Wow. Sounds like some huddled masses are going to get themselves shot. :/
I doubt that. It's just a show of force that works well as a deterrent. Any time the National Guard has been used before to assist with the border, the illegal entries declined significantly.
He stole one? That doesn't seem like a regular working class thing to do.
Roseanne wasn't pleased with him. He said he got it from the house of an elderly neighbor who died. He didn't say he stole it, but one could kinda infer that he did. One could also assume that he might have gotten it dirt cheap if the guy's family was trying to clear out the house.
So I guess the presence of the NG is a temporary measure then?
I suppose. If they'd start enforcing the law and stop letting non citizens get various forms of welfare, the problem would fix itself.
Got any plans for the weekend BTW?
I was planning to watch the MMA and kickboxing tonight. Jorina Baars fought, but unfortunately she let the cat out of the bag on Instagram that she won her fight by 2nd round TKO. I'm happy that she won, but dude, spoiler alert? ;P
Also went shopping today. QoH was over-the-top abusive to me the whole time. She really is a special kind of sick to think it's justifiable. :/
Just finished watching Jorina's fight. At least it was the first fight of the kickboxing portion of the evening. Not only did Jorina brutalize her opponent, but she broke her arm as well. D:
What happened? What did you do? What does it all mean? :)
So she posted a really cute pic on instagram of her dog when they went for a walk in the park. There was a nasty half-eaten croissant on the ground and her dog was laying there giving it a look of longing/desire. I commented, "Don't do it [dog's name]! No telling where it's been. [wink emoji]" and Tammy @'d back at my handle, "Right?! Exactly!"
I knew she read all the comments, kinda cool to be acknowledged directly. :)
And I also got a heart/like from Andrea KGB Lee a few days ago. :)
Hey Arekino-san, what's with your Dutch wimmin-folk being such savages in the kickboxing ring? First it was Lucia Rijker, now Jorina Baars. Must be something in the water. ;P
Just fb and instagram. Twitter is a little too public and people can be very vicious and toxic on there.
BTW I put up a couple of pics of the unique boats that go by my work on instagram. One is the round tiki hut bar boat (how that's not a safety hazzard I don't know) and the other is of the Jungle Queen paddle boat. :)
Since you're surrounded by so much water, do you ever see any interesting boats near where you live?
That boat looks like people would hold some fierce poker tournaments on it. ;)
I've been on it (and its sister boat IIRC) a few times, but no poker tournaments occurred unfortunately. ;P I've also been on the one at Disney, too.
There's the local canal but that doesn't have very interesting boats on it.
None? That's too bad. You'd think someone would do something creative. :/
Unfortunately I've got a fairly unpleasant case of the runs so I prefer stay inside for now. :/
D: What caused that? I hope you didn't get food poisoning or something.
It is way too hot here. I tried to do some raking today, but only managed to work outside not quite 2 hours. Almost 1 hour the first try, and not quite 40 minutes the second try. I have to work about 10 hours tomorrow so I didn't want to overdo it. And I can feel Ma Nature lurking. :/
But we usualy care more about practical and safe than about creative.
So no floating tiki bar boats? ;P
I'm not sure it's creepy or adorable. ;P
That's a very disturbing image. D:
Well we had a bit of excitement at work today. I got a tornado alert on my phone and then a few seconds later the damn thing was parting the water of the river that runs directly in front of where I work. It didn't do any damage as far as I know, just worried the manager enough to have us all go to the main building for about 20 minutes. (Just heard him say over the radio that there's another alert, it *is* raining kinda weird ATM)
And there's also some film crew in our room filming for some reason. The chick talking sounds like she's speaking Portuguese, so they're probably Brazilian.
I hope my car is okay. They make us all park on the roof of the parking garage. :/
I'm not aware of any recently, but the last time I worked here, there used to be a couple different events for Brazilian people.
I hope so too. Repairs cost moneyz dammit. :/
Well, after I had posted here, I learned that there was a bit of damage. Part of a roof (about 2x3 meters in size) got blown off from somewhere and landed on the top floor of the garage where we all park. It landed about 2 spaces from my car and people were saying that it hit the big boss' car. Just glad it didn't hit mine. He makes plenty of money and I'm assuming has good car insurance since he drives a luxury car.
What would have happened if your car had sustained serious damage?
I would just be screwed. The car is 13 y/o so the insurance company doesn't insure a car that age with full coverage which would pay to repair that sort of damage. I'd have to pay repair costs myself.
In other news, QoH assaulted me again today. I called the police and they did nothing. They pretty much believed her lies and told me to grow up. I'm so fucking pissed off right now. It's just like the Nikolas Cruz thing. Cops were called to his house 39 times for domestic violence and they did nothing. It seems that in the state of Florida, if you are a "minor" or elderly you can abuse with impunity and the cops will do nothing but blame the victim.
I have more scratches on my body than the last time, plus my shirt was all fucked up from her using it as a rope to hold on to me, plus her pulling my hair and using it like a handle to toss me around. Then she acts like the innocent victim, told them she has "mobility issues" and that I tried to knock her down and that "she was only trying to hold onto me so she wouldn't fall" and told them i have a temper. She's really a fucking convincing actress as they believed *her* even though I'm the one who was all scratched up and my clothes were all stretched and fucked up. She dint have a scratch on her. I'm soooooo fucking pissed! And then the bitch female cop flippantly tells me to get a full time job at Walmart and move out as if it's that simple, and that I need to grow up. *I fucking applied there and never heard back* they act like it's so fucking easy. They make good money, they have no clue what it's like to live my life. It's completely outrageous. >:(
That bitch cop told me that they see worse every day and that I need to grow up and learn to handle my problems by myself and not call them. The asshole male cop said I need to learn to be the bigger person. It's un-fucking-believable how they didn't want to hear my side. They're so biased and act like it's just 2 people arguing and both are equally to blame. Plus I detected a racial-bias undertone (both cops were black) and took an attitude that white people are calling them over trivial matters since black people fight all the time and beat each other up much worse and don't call the cops over it. They actually threatened to arrest me if I didn't say "the matter was resolved" before they got there. It's completely outrageous. I made a post on fb and a friend who used to be a cop told me they violated state law in about 4 different ways and that I should contact the county authorities to make a formal complaint. At this point I have no faith in that since the whole system is so corrupt. And then I could face retaliation from those cops. I'm absolutely livid at the whole situation.
How did it happen? Was there an argument over something?
The asshole male cop said I need to learn to be the bigger person.
That suggests that he did believe you and that QoH was the instigator and aggressor.
since black people fight all the time and beat each other up much worse
I wouldn't say that out loud if I were you. (if I actually were you I probably wouldn't even think it :) )
I'm absolutely livid at the whole situation.
I'd be surprised if you weren't. Anybody would be livid in such a situation.
QoH is a bully. Bullies do not stop unless they are stopped. If you do not resist this will happen again. If she does it again defend yourself because if she's going to lie about what happened then you might as well get some satisfaction out of it. Bring the damn pain.
How did it happen? Was there an argument over something?
I was coming out of the kitchen with a plastic glass of iced tea when QoH was approaching from the opposite direction. Since the pathway is narrow and she's so fat, she blocks my way. She started in on me with her usual accusations of poisoning her plants. I hadn't said anything to her, she just started in on me. I tried to get around her but she wouldn't move. (BTW, blocking someone's path so they can't escape is considered abusive behavior by the National Domestic Abuse Hotline) I wasn't touching her, just trying to pass which enraged her because I wasn't engaging with her (trying to bait me into an argument) so she started grabbing onto me, pulling my shirt, hair, yanking me around.
I wouldn't say that out loud if I were you.
The female cop was the one who basically said that.
If she does it again defend yourself because if she's going to lie about what happened then you might as well get some satisfaction out of it. Bring the damn pain.
This is exactly what I thought. If it happens again, and it's likely that it will, I'm not going to restrain myself like I did this time. Every time I do, I get injured when I'm trying not to injure her because she always threatens elder abuse and then exaggerates whatever happened. Besides, this has shown me that it's definitely policy down here for the cops to not do anything in order to fudge the crime rate numbers and make it look like rates are dropping. I doubt very seriously that QoH would call the cops.
But in case she would, do you think you could tell a convincing story?
IDK, I hope so.
Have you talked about this on the forum BTW?
No. I've been too busy with work and when I get home I don't feel like it. Besides, I pretty much know what others would say and there's not anything they can do about it anyway.
Anyhoo, we had a wedding today for 170 guests. They were all really nice people. The bride's side was Italian. Not sure about the groom's side. I was there for 11.5 hours but I'm not feeling too tired. It was a fairly easy one. :)
What type of wedding was it? Just a traditional one? Or something less orthodox?
I asked one of the guests where they had the ceremony and was told that it was at a nearby Catholic Church. We just did the reception dinner. It was pretty standard fare, not too fancy.
At least I got to eat a couple of lamb chops and a few pieces of steak and some ravioli with mushrooms after they brought the food back to the kitchen from the buffet. :)
Tomorrow is supposed to be some super easy thing. Just Alex and I will be there. She's so laid back and easy to work with and she doesn't care if I take food home. The other 2 bosses don't allow it, so you have to be sly if you want to get anything. ;)
I think a lot of it gets repurposed and some thrown away. I know some things come back as food to feed the waitstaff.
In other news, I had to reset the ballroom today for an event tomorrow. All the tables, chairs, and bars were still there from the wedding. I had to remove 5 big round tables, 3 long ones, about 60 chairs, and move the 2 bars back into the kitchen. Then I had to help Alex move a couple cocktail tables in the small theater. Now we wait. (I think it took me about 2 hours to do everything and that was with me going slow.)
So I was scheduled to work until 8:30pm, but we finished early at a bit past 7pm. I asked Alex if I could hang out to get my full time and she was okay with that. (She's salaried so she left.) Getting paid to sit on my ass and watch yootoobs is pretty good work if you can get it. ;P
So far I've finished 5 books on politics and I am reading the 6th ATM.
I started a book called Fly By Night by Frances Hardinge. I found it by accident when I was trying to find a quote about truth being dangerous. I copy pasted a quote from it that I found on Good Reads into a comment thread (it won me the thread, most likes ;P) and then I got curious about the book. I found a preview of it on Google books. I read about 4 chapters so far, but I'm not sure how much is on the free preview. It's a pretty enjoyable book so far and I'd like to finish it. Hopefully I can find the rest on the toobs for free. ;P
In relative privacy, don't forget that. No QoH around.
Yes, it's wonderful when no one is bothering me. ;P
She makes about 35 or 40 grand per year regardless of how many hours she works, so she's paid the same amount per week. It's good when it's slow, but when it's busy they can work crazy hours. And they get full benefits, too. Us part time/hourly people aren't guaranteed any work and we don't get benefits like retirement account or medical insurance.
Yeah, there are only 24 hours in a day. ;P I've seen her be there 16 hours in a day before and work like 6 days straight with only one day off. It sucks to work a lot of long days consecutively like that. I'm doing 5 days in a row right now with some 9 and 10 hours. I'm already really tired and it's only the third day. :/
Well, other boss lady was being a bitch tonight. I stopped for a few minutes to see my friend C in the VIP section while on my way to the other party room and bitch boss saw me up there and got an attitude because she wanted me and E to take the dirty tablecloths off some tables in that room and I wasn't over there doing it fast enough for her apparently. It's not like it was some urgent thing. We're coming in tomorrow to reset it.
Then R told me she was talking shit about me to people in the kitchen. Then I overheard her making a negative comment about R, so she obviously talks shit about everyone behind our backs. It's so immature. I can't stand that kind of thing. And the most ridiculous thing is she doesn't give any of us a floor plan or instructions, I guess she thinks we're all psychic or something, then gets pissy when we don't read her mind. And I have *a fucking walkie-talkie on me* just like she does. If you want me to do something specific, *call me on the walkie-talkie and tell me*, it's not difficult. I'm going to say something about it to Alex tomorrow. I can't stand stupid junior high drama from people who are supposed to be adults. At least Alex gives me paperwork and clear instructions when she's in charge of a function and has never gotten an attitude with me.
And to top it off, bitchy poo was in a mad rush last night to GTFO of here before the show broke because then it takes forever to get out of the parking garage when 1,500 people are all trying to leave at once. So S was helping out in the theater because they were short handed and saw bitch leaving and wanted to know if we were going to reset one of the rooms. She had told me and E not to do it last night, then she told S that 'we all left early' that's why it wasn't reset. She's such a fucking liar. We were going to reset and she told us not to because she was in a rush to leave and then acts like we just decided to leave on our own. I'm really getting pissed off with her bullshit. >:(
Who is this awful person? Is she the big boss of the company or just a supervisor?
She is my immediate boss/manager. Alex is the assistant manager. V is the big boss.
I'm wearing shorts ATM. :o
Now people will be able to see your sexy legs. ;P ;D
I managed to re-injure my foot again. I'm hobbling around and this cunt has me walking laps around this fucking place and now she wants me to pass champagne. >:(
Well R has gotten some revenge. She made some fake profiles on gay websites for bitchy-poo and put her real phone #'s. LOL
My foot finally recovered somewhat so I didn't have to hobble around all night. And R also tipped me out $10 tonight (and last night, too. :) ) and I smuggled home a salmon dinner and some good chocolates that they had at the function tonight.
R does a lot of drugs. She's crazy, but she's also really funny. She always makes me laugh with her crazy stories.
Ah, it's not al bad then. Good. :)
I just took a plate-full home. There was actually a whole box with probably 5 pounds of chocolates that they didn't use that R took. I don't know how she managed to stuff all of them in her purse, but she did. Like I said, she's crazy. I wouldn't risk getting caught taking that much.
Well, no Alex again tonight. And she's off for vacation the next time I come in (next Friday), so I'll have to deal with the bitch. :/
Oh, forgot to mention, the nabes are finally back from being up in Alachua for 2 months. His-self hasn't had the lawn mowed for the whole time they were gone, so I asked them if they wanted me to do it tomorrow and they said yes. It'll probably be a $40 job since the little hedge they have needs trimming, too. :)
Made another $10 tonight with R, as well as being entertained. ;D
The ones who *really* made the moolah tonight were the 2 bartenders who worked the drag queen show. They did almost $6,000 worth of liquor sales between the two of them. I'm sure they had to have made several hundred dollars in tips each. :O
You mean like literally crazy or just eccentric crazy?
Eccentric and does risky things. She's definitely not uptight. ;P
She had a pic of some sort of s&m rig with trusses and a gag on her phone that she said she wanted to use on bitch boss if she didn't shut the hell up. Made me laugh. Bitch boss can be very annoying. Makes me *really* miss Alex, although IDK how Alex can stand to be in the office with her all the time. D:
A little extra money never hurts. :)
True dat.
Hey, you have a birthday coming up. :)
Yes I do. I won't be telling peeps at work. R would likely want to take me some place crazy like the Hustler store or a strip club or something. Did I mention that QoH hates R? (Well, QoH hates everone.)
When I started working back there again I didn't know R was still working there because another former coworker said she got fired, so QoH thinks she was fired. What happened according to R was she resigned from catering, but still worked at the concessions bar. I just didn't tell QoH she still works there. It's easier to not have to listen to QoH say negative things about her like she does about C. While I don't agree with her lifestyle, I don't dislike her. And she told me last night that she was glad I came back to work there and gave me a hug. :)
Ya know, I think I might buy myself a Cobra Kai t-shirt for my b-day with my newfound riches. ;P
Oh! Forgot to mention: R was going to show me a yootoob of something and I got distracted by some brass knuckles made from spent shell casings how-to video. R liked that, too, and said if I ever make one to make her one, too. I think it would make a cool belt buckle. :P
OMG, my stomach muscles are freaking killing me ATM! I did 1,200 reps of abs exercises on Saturday and the effects are just now hitting me. Oh well, the price one pays to be smokin' hot. ;P ;D
(BTW I did not know that dork is slang for penis. :) )
Me either. That's news to me. Seems everything is slang for penis. LOL
Just don't catch fire. :)
I'll try not to. ;)
I mean, don't overdo it. You're not getting any younger. ;P :D
Yeah, don't remind me. I'm starting to get those annoying pains that old people complain about. My knees hurt inexplicably today and my feet still haven't recovered from 5 consecutive days at work. At least that one spot on my right foot is no longer bothering me.
After I get myself pumped back up into fitness model shape, I'm going to take some pics. I wanted to show off to R. She's clearly a bad influence, but definitely a boost to my ego since my narcissism lies in my looks and skillz. ;P
BTW, it's nice to get compliments from peeps at work. All I get is insults and negativity from QoH when I'm home.
In other news I'm feeling very horny today. I think I might channel that into writing some smut or something. I haven't written anything in a looong time. ;P
I got too lazy to write anything. I'll just save any ideas for later.
Not much going on here today besides writing out bills. I did 300 reps of ass exercises last night. R sparked my competitiveness by telling me that her sister does 100 squats per day to keep her ass and legs in shape. My ass is the main place where fat likes to accumulate on my body, so I don't need it getting too big or saggy. ;P
In related news, on Friday when I go in to work it's just supposed to be a set-up and we don't have to wear our uniform, we can come in wearing street clothes. The guys just wear jeans and t-shirts. I usually *never* wear jeans because it's just too hot here, but I do own a few pairs. I tried on my favorite pair and it fit a little loose in the legs, so I tried on another pair that fit waaaay too well. If I wear those I think some of the menfolk will get very distracted IYKWIM. ;P ;D
I really don't know what I'm going to wear. Jeans don't have enough (or deep enough) pockets for all the crap I carry on me usually, that's why I usually wear cargo shorts, but we aren't allowed to wear shorts to work. And then if I leave the house wearing street clothes QoH won't believe I'm going to work and will accuse me of some nefarious liason.
Because it makes creases in the crotch area and has an ill-fitted look.
Was it a camel toe situation? :o
No, but they're very snug and I have a pretty good-looking figure. ;D
What kind of crap do you mean?
Wallet, bunch of keys, knife and pepper spray, phone, pocket change. And at work I carry a corkscrew, matches, pens, lipstick and lipstick brush. Lots of crap.
I'm doing exercises for different parts every day this week. Today I'm doing squats and lunges for my legs. I think they need to look a little more muscular to match the rest of my body. :)
It's Kingday tomorrow but I don't think I'll do anything about it.
Tomorrow is setup-for-a-wedding day for me. I just got through texting Alex to confirm that it's okay to wear street clothes for that. She said it's okay. She's gonna be off tomorrow and the next few days, so we'll have to deal with Bitchy. I don't think R is scheduled to work the wedding, so no entertainment for me. :/ At least E is scheduled to work so I won't have to work as hard. He can be sent to do stuff, not just me.
So what does one normally do on Kingday? Dress in orange and hoot and holler? Or eat something quintessentially Dutch? ;P
There's a sort of a garage sale in the park for everyone. One can drink "oranjebitter" and/or eat an orange "tompoes". One can dress in orange. One can hoot and holler.
One can also stay at home and watch the king do embarrassing things on TV.
No, pretty easy. There wasn't much for us to do as they rented big square tables and fancy chairs and the rental peeps delivered those and put them in place. All we did was put the tablecloths on and help set the tables with utensils, plates, and glassware. And I put the glassware on the 2 bar back tables. We finished early so I'm sitting on my ass until I get the 5 hours that I was scheduled for. :)
You don't get bored? There's only so many youtube movies you can watch. :)
Sometimes it's very boring.
Got any plans for the weekend?
Just working this wedding ATM (the grooms side are Dutch folks with accents. ;P I was helping them find out how to get to their hotel from here on my phone earlier. Apparently it's one street over, but on the other side of the river from here.)
I think QoH wants to go to the store tomorrow. How exciting. :/
BTW, when the party was over last night, boss had me stand in the lobby to make sure no one left with glassware. (For some reason he always gives me these security/bouncer type duties. I guess I look very official or intimidating or something, all 5'2" 115# of me. ;P) Anyway, the Dutch peeps saw me when they were walking out and thanked me for my help earlier and told me they knew to go to the left, then I heard them speaking with the choking sounds and occasional "ja's", so they're clearly not from you're part of the country. ;P
Also, I thought R was just being a pot stirrer when she kept insisting that the 2 bosses were having an affair, but from things I saw yesterday, I think she may be correct. D: I think they were messing around in V's office. They were too giggle-y and physically playful, then V had a candle lit in there a little while later to cover the smell, then when I was in the storeroom be the office he had to come in there suddenly to wash his hands. D: That's all something I really don't want to think about. I'm going to tell R all about it the next time I see her because I think she's been right all along.
Were they actually Dutch or just American citizens with an accent?
They were definitely Dutch. I know what Dutch sounds like. ;) Good luck BTW. Try to keep a cool head. :)
It doesn't look like we're going to the store today. I'm too tired. And I brought home some food last night, so QoH is temporarily appeased. ;P
So have you decided if you're going to buy that Cobra Kai t-shirt for your birthday?
I was actually looking at what my options are last night. There's one place that sells men's and kids' sizes for $5.99 (+shipping makes it around $10) and the women's version for $6.99. They at least had a sizing chart so I could compare them. I usually like to try on clothes before buying them, so I was using the chart to measure shirts that I already have and compare how they should fit. I'm not sure the women's size medium (which would fit me) will fit as well as a kids' size large. Regardless, $10 isn't too bad for that sort of shirt.
Hey, did you hear about the new yootoob Cobra Kai series starring the original actors from Karate Kid? I actually heard about it from Andrea KGB Lee. There are a few trailers on yootoob. It looks pretty good from what I watched. :)
It can't be as good as the remake with Jaden Smith. ;P
D: Ugh, that one sucked. Even the Hilary Swank one sucked. :/ I guess it's sort of a nostalgia thing?
I suppose. Peeps my age love our 80's stuff. ;P
I have to work about 10 hours tomorrow then I was supposed to be off Fri, Sat, and Sunday, but Alex texted me today to ask if I could come in to work the small wedding on Saturday. I said yes, of course, because they only gave me 7 gigs this month. At least now I have 8 and it should be for about 8.5 hours. And Alex will be there. :)
Am I wrong in thinkng that you really like your job? :)
It's definitely better than having no job. It's easy for the most part and I have lots of down time to play with my phone and look at the toobs and yootoob. And I don't have to be around QoH for most of the day. ;P
BTW, the wedding on Saturday is allegedly muslim peeps. About 50 of 'em. No liquor. And they are having some weird kombucha tea on the beverage table. D:
I did not tell QoH those details as she does not like muslims. (I *did* tell her that I think tonight's gig is supposed to be a fundraiser for the governor. She doesn't like him, either. ;P )
Bitch boss sent me home early because the count went down. And I wanted to get a pic with the governor. Booooo! She's such a bitch. She always sends me home early when someone I want to get a pic with (like Laila Ali) is there. When Dan Rather was there (who I don't care about) she kept me for the whole damn thing. >:(
At least Alex will be there on Saturday to act as a buffer. ;)
Absolutely not. I know how that shit's made. ;P Is there a anyone on this planet who she does like?
She *does* like some people for a while, but then inevitably they'll do or say something she doesn't like, then she'll no longer like them. ATM she likes Wayne Allyn Root, which is weird since I'm the one who introduced his show to her. The weirdest part is he's sorta libertarian and she hates libertarians. He ran for VP on the Libertarian Party ticket back in 2008 IIRC and I almost voted libertarian that year. I guess she likes him because he's a very opinionated and outspoken New Yorker. ;P
Lots of WW2 stuff on TV.
Ah yes, I know how much you *love* the WW2 stuff. ;P ;D
In other news, I watched the first 2 episodes of Cobra Kai on yootoob. It was very well done and entertaning. The catch is the first 2 episodes are free then you have to sign up for yootoob red to be able to see the other episodes. Allegedly there's a 30 day free trial period on that, so I guess I'll look into it. I certainly don't want to pay for a subscription. ;)
You told me before that you don't like, as you put it, those "awful" WW2 movies that old people in your country like to watch and that they should get over it already.
What kind of show is it?
It's about what Johnny and Daniel are doing now as adults. Johnny is a loser and Daniel owns a bunch of car lots and is rich and successful. One night some kids that turn out to be Daniel's daughter's friends jump the nerdy kid who lives in Johnny's building outside of a convenience store (where Johnny happens to be sitting and eating some pizza). Johnny intervenes when they hit his car and then he kicks the shit out of them. Afterwards, the nerdy kid asks Johnny to teach him karate.
It's kinda almost a reverse of how they used to be with Johnny now being like a jerky Mr. Miyagi and Daniel's daughter's friends being the bullies.
The episodes are about 30 minutes long and IIRC there are 10 episodes so far. I think it's very well done and I like it a lot so far. :)
Apparently it's so well done that Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 100% rating. I don't think I've ever seen anything get a 100% rating from them. It really is how TV shows should be done. It's totally un-PC and the characters are neither all good or bad. Johnny is a sorta anti-hero. I love his character so much. Reminds me a little of Deadpool, but less over the top. Unfortunately it's $10/month to subscribe, so I've just seen the first 2 episodes then all the previews for the other episodes plus some reviews and recaps. I wish there were more shows like this that were so freaking good.
He's shown living in a crappy apartment with an old box-style TV, he's divorced and his son who he is estranged from is a delinquent, he gets drunk on Coors beer and passes out on the floor, he buys gross pizza to eat from the convenience store, he has a crappy flip phone, still drives his old Firebird (that Daniel's daughter and her friends run into with their car and wreck), and works shitty odd jobs doing handyman type work. I just realized that is kinda a nod to Mr Miyagi, except Mr Miyagi was content with his work.
I really can hardly believe how good the series is. Better than the original movie IMO. :)
He was shown getting fired, so he *had* a job. Then the incident happened with the nerdy kid, kid asks him to teach him karate, then he opens the Cobra Kai Dojo. My one small complaint is if he is so poor, where did he get enough money to rent the storefront for the dojo? Then they showed him being harassed by someone from the government over not having the proper licenses for the dojo (which that part is realistic, govt is always harassing people over that sorta thing ;P).
Happy Birthday BTW!! ;)
Thanks!
Alex said she would buy me a chai latte tomorrow morning to make up for not knowing today was my birthday. :) (unfortunately now I have to go in even earlier- 7:30am :/ )
And I went ahead and ordered that Cobra Kai t-shirt. Evan (coworker) said that it looked really cool and that I should hurry up and order it. Hell, I'm not going to find a better price. I think $10 is not much of a splurge. :)
In other work news, some asshole ratted out me and S for taking food home on Saturday night. S told me that big boss V texted him about it. I told Evan and H and we were trying to think who the rat is. H said who he thought it was. I told Alex and she swore it wasn't her, I told her we know she wouldn't do that, then she did some detective work and confirmed that it was who H thought did it. :/
I told her. She actually bought me breakfast this morning, so even better. :)
Good for you.
Yep. :)
I thought you were allowed to do that? I guess you need to ask specific permission first?
We're technically not supposed to unless a boss says it's okay.
Anyway, Alex told me the *real* story, that someone complained about S, but big boss mentioned me too so S wouldn't feel singled out. We were both like Why TF would he bring me into it when I hadn't done anything wrong. It's just so stupid. And these people are supposed to be adults. SMH
big boss mentioned me too so S wouldn't feel singled out.
Sounds like someone is taking Psych 101 classes in night school and fell asleep during the lessons. ;P
It's getting pretty warm here BTW. I have to turn on the electric fan in my room for some comfort. How are things over yonder? Just warm or blazing hot?
Sounds like someone is taking Psych 101 classes in night school and fell asleep during the lessons. ;P
Having not worked with a bunch of people for 10 years made me kinda forget how stupid and childish people can be. Speaking of...;P S complained to big boss about me last night. Told him I didn't clean up one of the meeting rooms upstairs. I *did* clean up what I was supposed to, but there were still a few people up there and I couldn't yank their stuff away from them. I was supposed to leave at 6pm, and just going up to clean what I did put me over by about 15 minutes.
So big boss questioned me about it when I came in right off the bat. I can see that S is going to be a two faced asshole and that I should be wary of him.
It is hot over here. 86F today. At least I'm inside in the AC all day today. :)
Now I must go polish glasses for this Brazilian thing that we are having all this week. They're pretty nice so far. :)
He already has his son working in the bistro here. :/
In what sense?
Not bitchy or demanding or asking for unreasonable things.
In other work related news, Other C who got "fired" for getting drunk after Mr H's memorial was back at work today. I'm not sure how I feel about that. She's likeable but talks a lot and can be a little annoying. I like my quiet time during the day.
Anyway, I can never truly have a day off with QoH here. As usual, she wants to go grocery shopping today. IDK why she chooses to go on Fridays when traffic is the worst. And on top of that, they were having an event at the stadium so the traffic was all backed up around there, but QoH is incredibly stubborn and insists on continuing to drive that route instead of making a u-turn and taking another route. So what would normally be a 15 minute drive took almost an hour. :/ And even worse is she drives slower than a snail. I think her maximum speed was 25 mph the whole time (and insists on driving in the fast lane when there is one) which really pisses off other drivers.
Then there's the usual fault-finding food drama. She insisted on me buying a rotisserie chicken from Publix even though I told her the ones they sell are very small and more expensive than the big ones from Sam's (which she won't eat because she thinks they're Tyson brand). If I *didn't* buy one she'd say that I just don't want her to have anything. So I went ahead and bought one even though it was small and looked at little overdone just to avoid her feeling-sorry-for-herself drama. When we got home, now she's bitching that it's overdone and that the chicken was "beaten" because there was dark marks on the bones. For as long as I can remember, thoroughly cooked chicken bones look that way, but suddenly she notices this and ascribes it to the chickens "being beaten". Anyway, she cut it all open and made a mess of it. I'm sure I'll end up having to return it for a refund. :/
I'm so sick of having to return perfectly good food because of some fault that she imagines. :/
Oh, damn, I misread. Sorry, my focus isn't what it should be. I haven't been sleeping very well because of random temperature changes in this typical Dutch Spring weather.
she drives slower than a snail.
Not sure what to think of that. Snails don't usually drive cars. ;P
having to return perfectly good food
She's just throwing away money like that. Is that only her money or also partly yours?
She's just throwing away money like that. Is that only her money or also partly yours?
It's my money, too. She doesn't receive enough SS money to cover all her expenses. And she had the nerve to say to me that I deliberately buy food that's bad to waste *her* money. 100% projection.
She was all hot and bothered to hurry up and return the chicken and one other item today. At least Publix will refund your money if you are unsatisfied as per their policy. Walmart & Sam's will, too. I just really hate the waste. All because of her twisted perceptions. :/
And you got your money back, right? Did you buy another chicken?
Got the money back, but didn't buy another chicken. I bought a package of asparagus and 4 corns on the cob. I'm really tired of all the food bs.
In other news, Saturday evening she came into my room and started berating me over not putting tar on the roof. From there it turned into vicious verbal abuse. I got tired of it and told her to get out of my room. Of course she dug her heels in and refused to leave and blocked my exit as is her modus operandi. I just stood nose to nose with her, telling her to get out then eventually traded insults with her. She threatened to "tell your father what you are" so I picked up my phone to dial it so she could tell him. I've literally never seen her get out of my room so fast. Lol Funny what happens when I call her bluff. (My dad wouldn't believe anything she says anyway.) Then she got in my face again once I got her out of my room so I put my hand on her throat like she likes to do to me, but instead of squeezing I shoved her backwards into the cabinet in the hall. I told her it isn't very funny when it happens to her, is it? Then I got back in my room and tried to lock the door but she was enraged and trying to push it back open. I eventually won that struggle and got the door closed and locked. She was mad as hell, but score a victory for me in that exchange.
Since the last incident with the useless cops, I've vowed not to be too restrained with her. She's never going to physically bully me again. She's going to be made to learn the lesson that trying to intimidate me or putting her hands on me is not going to end well for her.
She wanted me to go up and reinforce the 2 patched areas on the roof because it's supposed to be raining all week. Only problem is I haven't had time to do it before the rain started. I worked all last week, shopping on Friday, then the rain started Friday night and it's been on and off all weekend and today, too.
In other news, the Cobra Kai shirt that I ordered arrived today. :) I was a little worried about the size being big enough because of a shirt that I saw in Walmart. I ordered a kids' size large, but the one I saw in Walmart looked really small. Fortunately for me, the company that I ordered from had a size chart that was accurate and when I tried the shirt on it fit just fine. (Walmart clothes tend to be all over the place IRT sizes, so I shouldn't have compared them.) Anyway, I was pleased to see that the shirt is a lightweight cotton and not the heavyweight-those are too hot. And the picture is larger than it appeared on the website, which is okay I guess. Overall I think it was a pretty good deal. I think I'll write a good review on their website. :)
It's kinda hard to tell. There are stains on the ceiling from previous leaks, but I can't really tell if there are new leaks. I'd say no.
Cool. You know, I wouldn't mind if you send me a pic of you wearing that T-shirt. :)
I bet you wouldn't. ;P I'll see what I can do. ;)
In other news, I got a bit of a chuckle from Tammy B the other night. Firstly, she mentioned that she's kinda obsessed with the show Forged In Fire (one of my faves :D ) then she said she bought gummy bears as a treat on the train ride back from DC. (My weakness is *sour* gummy worms, but close enough). It's like a preview of myself in 14 years. LOL
I have no idea. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would like to buy them. ;)
They now have a spinoff of that show where people bring a blade of their choosing to hack their way through a sorta obstacle course. There was a guy from Florida who brought a giant 2 handed chopper that he forged himself. He was really blowing through everything, but lost because of penalties in the final stage. :/ His blade was excellent, though. It reminded me of a pudau but with a straight blade and shorter handle.
I guess you like what you see then? :)
Sure, feisty but a bit nerdy with excellent tastes in things. ;P
Tomorrow is my only day of work this week. I think I will wear my new Cobra Kai shirt so I can get a pic for you. The ladies bathroom by the ballroom has good lighting and a large floor to ceiling mirror. I suppose I'll have to wear a different shirt out of the house and change shirts in the parking lot since QoH will likely have something negative to say and I don't feel like getting into an argument with her over something so stupid. :/
You're looking very official there in that pic. A tough cookie.
Yep, got my badge and radio. Very no nonsense. LOL I guess that's why big boss uses me as a bouncer for weddings. ;P
Your forehead looks a bit big this way. :)
Yeah, there was a light directly overhead and it makes me look like I have a strange-shaped bald patch/receding hairline. :/
Well, I posted the pic on fb and got many likes. Also 2 of the security peeps at work liked it. The rest of the peeps obviously didn't get the reference.
Wasn't there some scandal involving FB? I gues you still trust them?
They were data mining and selling people's personal info and also spying through the fb app. I have never used the fb app and I never put all my personal info on there to begin with. I just used the abbreviated form of my name and never filled out the rest because I was leery of it from the get-go. And I've never posted anything too personal. I just use it to keep in touch with friends mainly.
Maybe they weren't alive during the eighties? Did you have to explain it to them?
The ones who were not alive during the 80's didn't notice it or said nothing. The one guy who is my age said nothing. The only people who commented were 2 of the security guys who are much older than I am. I had to explain it to one, but the other guy knew what it was. C asked about it (she's 62 y/o) and I told her all about it. E wasn't at work yesterday. He's 24, but was the one who encouraged me to buy it. He's young but likes different things, so he'd probably watch the new series. There are plenty of people at work who were alive when Karate Kid came out, but I guess they weren't into it like I was. Their loss. ;P
Ahh, Aliens. I had a discussion about that series with E at work a few weeks ago. I told him that IMO the best of those movies had Sigourney Weaver in them. ;P I didn't dislike Prometheus as much as the critics did, but I totally disliked Covenant.
What about you?
I got lost down the yootoob rabbit hole watching various shuffle dance videos. Then I've been looking at the Royal Wedding coverage here and there on TV, mainly to sneer. I didn't watch it live and I really don't give a shit. These people who get all worked up over it are idiots.
I also did abs and leg exercises. Like a lot of them. And I watched UFC MMA. It was Andrea KGB Lee's UFC debut. She won by unanimous decision. Her opponent was pretty tough and nasty, but Andrea was stronger and her clench-work (knees & elbows) and grappling (judo tosses and ground work) were better. I just found out this morning that she got awarded Fight of the Night and a $50,000 bonus. :)
A load of rubbish. I'm pretty sure we fought a revolution so we wouldn't have to deal with nonsense like that.
Well, that's what I call a big tip. ;P
Yep. She was so excited that she said she couldn't sleep. I'm very happy for her. She thought she fought badly and had apologized to her fans after the fight. Dana White obviously thought differently. :)
Not much to report here. It has been raining all week and continues to rain today. :/
Most people don't give a rat's ass about those, either.
I have to tell you a funnyish QoH story. So she had her panties in a bunch today because she wanted me to write out the bills so they could be mailed today. So I wrote them out and then came upstairs to my bedroom so I could get dressed to go to the post office. I few minutes later she comes barging into my room all pissed off because as she claimed "today is Memorial Day and the post office is closed". I told her "I guess you can't go then". Then she says, "Oh, I could still go, but what would be the point." Then she goes off in a huff. I then thought, 'wait a sec, today isn't Memorial Day' so I googled it to make sure. Aaaand sure enough! It's next Monday, not today. So I shout down to QoH, "Today isn't Memorial Day, it's next Monday." So she nastily replies, "You're always trying to start an argument!" LOL, what? She's completely batshit crazy.
Does this mean you still had to go to the post office?
Yep. And for today's lunacy, she wanted me to mow the yard but kept standing in my way and following me around accusing me of "destroying" various things.
I want my degree in meteorology now. ;P
You're probably more accurate than the actual weather peeps. They should pay you the big moolah. ;P
I'm kinda shocked that it didn't rain today. It was still very cloudy and it might rain tonight. :/
I have to go in to work about 5 hours tomorrow. It'll be nice to get away from QoH for while. I might stop by Publix on the way home to buy some ice cream that they have on sale. :)
It was really easy. We just went as slow as possible and still finished early. C went home at 3pm and I'm still trying to stretch it to 4pm. I restocked the cabaret store room with linens and now I'm playing with my phone for another 10 minutes, then I'll leave. :)
Also nice. Maybe you can try some new flavors?
Yep, I was hoping that they have strawberry. I was kinda wanting that flavor. :)
And I guess they had it? As a kid I used to really like pistache flavor but it's been so long that I've had that I don't even remember what it tastes like. Did they have soft-ice or the watery type?
Yes, yes they did. They didn't have much of a variety of flavors at the store that I stopped at. It looked fairly picked over as it was the last day of the sale. I guess strawberry isn't a very popular flavor. Oh well, my gain. ;)
Did they have soft-ice or the watery type?
I'm not sure what you're asking. It wasn't sorbet or sherbet, it's regular ice cream made with cow milk/cream with strawberries in it and flavoring it. It's really creamy and delicious. :)
The Publix brand is really good and usually superior to some of the name brands.
A bit of bad news today: QoH's glasses broke and now she needs new ones. I'm sure that's going to cost me at least $400 because she refuses to go to the optometrist at her primary care doctor's office because she's too special to wear the "junk" that "the government" has to offer. :/
Well, there's the kind of ice cream that is spooned onto a cone (or something) and there's the kind that comes out of the tube of a machine. The latter is much softer.
I'm sure that's going to cost me at least $400
How did you calculate the cost?
she's too special to wear the "junk" that "the government" has to offer.
Where did she get her last pair? Also, the optometrist isn't a civil servant is he/she?
So is there any advantage to her not having any working glasses or doe she make you do even more chores?
I taped them back together so she can use them, but it's a bit wonky so she has to be careful so it doesn't come apart again.
It's raining every day again here. There's some stupid "subtropical storm" that is dumping ridiculous amounts of rain on us. And even more ridiculous, QoH woke me up at 9am today to make me put hurricane shutters up to the 2 windows that didn't already have them up. :/
And my rant for today:
I checked my email and discovered that Alex sent me my June schedule. Only 7 days, but better than nothing. What pisses me off, though, is they gave C 15 days, the same C who got fired for getting drunk at the memorial gig. I don't think that someone who got fired should have seniority over me and get more days work. If she got fired and rehired, she should start back at the bottom. Big boss feels sorry for her, I guess, and let her come back a few weeks ago and has her doing make-work kinda stuff. She is not really needed in our department. He should put her back in the theater doing make-work stuff, not taking jobs away from me and E (who they only gave 4 days to for June). I don't dislike C personally, but I also don't think she should be rewarded by taking jobs away from me and E. Even H (another coworker) commented the very same thing to me. >:(
There's some stupid "subtropical storm" that is dumping ridiculous amounts of rain on us.
We´ve had and are having something similar. The local sewer system couldn't even process as much water as there fell yesterday. Water was bubbling up in the toilet and the sinks. :/
Even H (another coworker) commented the very same thing to me.
I wouldn't complain too much about it. It sounds like the BB thinks C is some sort of special case. He might not appreciate hearing complaints about it, either directly or indirectly.
Water was bubbling up in the toilet and the sinks. :/
D:
At least we don't have that problem. ;) When we went to the store on Friday, there was quite a downpour just as I was trying to leave Sam's. I ended up having to park my cart to the side near the exit and had to wait about 10 minutes until it stopped. QoH was waiting out in the truck and claimed that it was coming down so hard and quickly that it puddled several inches near where she was parked. At least the drainage is good there as it was no longer puddled by the time I walked out.
He might not appreciate hearing complaints about it, either directly or indirectly.
I certainly wasn't going to complain to him. I've only been back on the job for 3 months and have no leverage.
I like C and don't want her to lose her job, but it's not fair. But such is life. :/ (and that's why I have this blog, so I can complain here ;P )
Anyway, C told me that the terms for her being allowed to return are that she has to attend 5 AA meetings per week and be randomly drug tested. I told her that it sounded like they were trying to set her up to fail by making her have to attend that many meetings per week. Most people don't have the time for that many. C told me that at least the place where she has to go is only 2 blocks from where she lives and that they hold several meetings per day, so at least she can do 2 or 3 per day so she doesn't have to go so many days per week.
At least you got those 7 days. :)
Yes, better than nothing. I was worried that I'd only get 1 or 2 days the way boss lady was making it sound. I mentioned it to Alex, so I don't know if she had any influence.
Does she have to pay for those AA meetings herself?
I think AA meetings are free.
Anyway, I had no idea that she was an alcoholic. She must be a mostly functional one aside from what she did to get fired. She's worked there for 6 years without incident until then. It was R who told me she was an alcoholic. Afterward, I could kinda see the subtle manipulativeness that addicts have, just like my sister. They have a way of seeming very nice and friendly and can get you to do things for them or be a partner in crime because it's a sorta reciprocity that decent people do for other people just to be nice or to be friendly. She acts as lot like my sister in that way. It's not done maliciously, it's more of a way to try to fill some sort of void within themselves. Kinda sad that. :/
I watched Wonderwoman today. Not a bad movie.
The one with Gal Gadot? I tried to watch that when I had free HBO but I couldn't get past the first few minutes. I'm just not into those superhero movies.
Yes, cocaine and any pills she could get her hands on. That lifestyle killed her.
Or an anxiety killer, maybe.
Alcohol helped me beat my anxiety. I remember the first time I was really ruminating and beating myself up over some mistake and I drank some beer. I realized after drinking the beer that I was no longer ruminating. It was an Aha! moment as I then realized why a lot of people drank and what the appeal was. I never drank to get drunk. One beer was always enough to stop the ruminating. Eventually it helped me stop the ruminating habit. I guess some people have addictive personalities and can't control themselves once they start.
Anyway, I managed to find the glasses that QoH wears from an online optical provider for $125, frames and prescription lenses included, which is hundreds of $ cheaper than Lenscrafters. She still insists on going there for her eye exam which costs $94. If she'd just go to her damn primary care doctor it would be free, but nooooo! Bottom line I'm getting out of it for about half of what it normally costs.
According to her, they're all "fake doctors", the Chinese doctor who owns that particular chain of clinics is "a Communist" (even though he's a Christian from Hong Kong and very much a capitalist since he owns a chain of clinics), her primary care doc is "a witch doctor" from Kenya, and that it's run by the government and they want to kill all the old people. Seems a bad business model -killing your patients- when you specialize in senior care. LOL ;P
It's still oppressively warm here. Man, if this is a taste of what summer is going to be like then it's going to be tropical. :/
My dear Arekino, you have no idea what "oppressively warm" and "tropical" really mean until you've experienced the aftermath of a hurricane or tropical storm dragging the nastiest of Caribbean heat and humidity up behind it. That's what we had today. It was definitely oppressive. And it's not even August yet. :/
And QoH insisted that I go out and edge the swale by the road and then mow the nabe's yard. At least I got paid for the latter. :)
I know that there is no shortage of the animal version of that. There was a pet food controversy a few weeks ago because apparently animals that are euthanized and also road kill get sent to the rendering factory to be made into "animal protein" which goes into pet food. There was euthanasia drug in the pet food at high enough levels to kill several pets. D:
Anyway, bad and costly news concerning QoH. So after having me make an appointment for her to see the eye doctor on Wednesday, she freaks out Tuesday night a few hours after I made it with her stupid 'I'm not ready' drama (how is one not ready for the eye doctor? It's not like you need to study for a test.), I had to cancel it Wednesday morning. Then on Thursday she decided she wanted to go on Friday, so I made the appointment for then.
In usual QoH fashion, she insists on driving and goes about 30 mph the whole way up. Took about 45 minutes for a normal 20 or 30 minute drive. Then drama trying to get parked. She insists on having a handicapped parking spot even though all of them are already taken, then proceeds to drive up and down the same 2 aisles of parking spaces cussing and refusing to take a spot that was open because she claimed it was 'too small'. Finally someone came out of a store and luckily they had a close-ish spot so she got it. Got into the doctor's office about 5 minutes before the appointment time.
When the doctor saw her and started asking questions about her medical history, QoH went into her usual crazy convoluted 45 minute long insane rant about the "fake doctors" and other government related conspiracy crap with a little racial bigotry thrown in for good measure. IDK why the doctor (a lady) didn't try to stop her and get her to stay on topic, but that's what happened.
Anyway, the bad news is one of QoH's lens implants from her cataract surgery has developed a film on it, so that's why she's having trouble seeing with that eye. If she wasn't such a stubborn asshole and been seeing her regular doc for checkups like she's supposed to, they'd likely have caught it earlier and could have sent her to have it corrected and Medicare would have paid for all of it. But nooooo!!! She doesn't want to go back to her primary or switch to a different one which she's allowed to do. No, she wants to pay out of pocket for this laser procedure that the eye doc recommends that she gets.
I had a massive screaming match with her in the car on the way home about that. I told her she's being stupid because that's why she has Medicare to pay for that and that I'm not paying for it with my money.
Then to compound matters, she managed to break her phone when we were at Walmart and wanted me to get a new one RIGHT NOW!!! Well, when I got home, I called the phone store closest and dealt with some idiot who put me on hold for 5 minutes to check and never got back to me. I had to call back and she told me the safe that the phones were kept in was on a timer and if I could call back in 10 minutes. I did, and they didn't have the one QoH has.
I called another store and got no answer. Then I called a third store and spoke to someone who said they had it. Had to drive up there with QoH. I went in to deal with it. Luckily I still had the receipt for the broken one. Told the guy she only had it 8 months. He said they have a 1 year manufacturer warranty. He took the back off and fiddled with it a bit and then miraculously it started working again. (It had a blank screen and wouldn't turn on or off or register anything on the screen, even on the charger.) He said it had just froze up. Luckily that didn't cost me any money.
So in total, yesterday was 8 hours of aggravation with QoH between eye doc, grocery store, and phone drama. Now I have Ma Nature arriving and I have to go in to work on Sunday. :/ She's completely infuriating and I feel like the stress from her is going to give me health problems. :/
I doubt that she'll actually get it done. Her paranoid imagination was already turning out conspiracy theories today that the eye doctor could be sending her to a place "run by muslims" and that the eye doctor is "probably getting a kickback" for sending people there. It's all so absurd and exhausting.
Oh, and ##Cyberhugs## for you. :)
Thanks. :)
Well, QoH went over to the nabes house about 2 hours ago and has been standing outside on the porch with them bending their ears the whole time. (She just came back in as I type.) I can well imagine all the lies that she's been telling them about me. :/
I wonder where she gets those ideas from? Those specific fears? Is any one having bad influence on her?
She sits in front of the TV all day watching cable news "fear porn". Ya know, all the sensationalized bs that they show about this and that that will kill you, etc to get people all worked up. Plus the radio programs that she listens to.
Hopefully the nabes aren't too gullible.
Who knows. I think the grandmother sees that QoH is nuts. ;)
What I'm not enjoying anymore is the heat. It's been too damn hot for too long. Where is winter when you need it?
Ugh, same here. I think the heat index was somewhere around 100F today. Way too hot. And the AC has been running almost non-stop. The electric bill is going to be ridiculously high this month. I heard that it was in the 50's up in Maine. That sounds like the place we need to be. ;P
What did you smuggle home BTW?
About 7 pounds of chicken marsala, a bag of salad, 2 portions of vegetable lasagna, and a bag of mixed desserts: coconut macaroons, assorted ruggalah, black & white cookies, and a few pieces of chocolate fudge brownies. The fudge brownies turned out to be more fudge than brownie and I wish I had gotten more of those. ;)
Also, can I have some? :)
If you hurry up and get here, I'd gladly share. ;P ;D
We really aren't allowed to take food home and C and I almost got busted by one of the managers. We thought they all left and she and I were minutes from leaving ourselves, then he comes up to the kitchen looking for black & white cookies to eat. How he didn't see the giant plastic bag I had under my vest (I had my vest on a hanger over the bag trying to hide it, but it was kinda obvious) or the to-go box I had sitting on a shelf, I'll never know. I guess he was focused on getting cookies. Anyway, I'll see C when I go in on Thursday so I'll ask her if anyone said anything. Alex also had come up to the kitchen a little earlier and saw what we were doing and told us she didn't want to know what we were doing or see it, then turned around and left. I know she wouldn't say anything, but I don't like putting her in an awkward spot or having her think I'm dishonest. It wasn't like we were taking food prepared at work, it was stuff ordered from a deli to feed the crew working that day and the leftovers were going to be thrown away. Anyhoo, I don't think I'm going to be so brazen with the quantity I take next time. I don't want to get in trouble over something stupid like that. :/
A small family could eat a week off of what you took. :)
You aren't far off. We still have 4 or 5 pieces of chicken left, one portion of broccoli that I intend to eat tonight for dinner, and about half of the cookies left. ;D (been eating it for 4 days)
Yeah, this job is a little too good to lose right now. :/
Well, it's not *that* good, but it's the only one I have and definitely don't want to lose it.
I did some last night. My usual arm routine and I also did squats, lunges, and some butt lifts. ;D
I know what you mean by too hot. If it wasn't for the AC I would never feel like exercising.
And if it wasn't for QoH, I'd buy myself a kayak. Walmart has them now for about $130 IIRC. QoH would definitely not approve--too dangerous. ;P
So why did your nephew come over? Do you guys have summer vacation over there? We've been having graduations at work (they use the big theater) for the various local schools. I think Saturday when I go in it's for one of the universities.
260 Comments:
My coworker got a kick out of it. ;)
but no sneeuw?
Possibly during the weekend.
Take it up with 23 and Me.
Where did you learn that word BTW?
Do you actually feel Irish though?
Of course not as I've never lived in Ireland. I *do* feel like a grouchy Floridian, though. 100% on that. ;P
"sletje" which in Dutch means "little slut" :D :D
LOL!
Where did you learn that word BTW?
Probably on the TV from one of those travel shows.
Well as St Patrick's is tomorrow, QoH had me make corned beef and cabbage yesterday(with some carrots). As the Sam's Club brand that I bought turned out really yummy, she wanted me to buy more today. I managed to buy 2 nice ones. :) Also bought myself some beersezzz as a treat. ;D
Well, we had snow today. I hope your happy! ;P
as St Patrick's is tomorrow
Do you actually care about celebrating St Patrick's day? Or does QoH care? Maybe she feels Irish?
Also bought myself some beersezzz as a treat.
Green beer? ;P
Or your favorite brand?
I hope your happy! ;P
Good thing you're safely on the other side of the Atlantic, Arekino-san! ;P
wondered why people only ate it for St Patrick's
It does have a very particular flavor and texture I think. I'm not fond of it.
buying another pole saw
Same type as the old one or a better one?
It does have a very particular flavor and texture I think. I'm not fond of it.
I think deli-style has a weird texture. Home-made is meaty and delicious. Also, the Hungarian-style, sweet and sour tomato-based sauce, baked one that a former employer used to make was really delicious. :)
Well, I've been off from work for 4 days now and QoH is driving me nuts. I'm ready to go back and earn some moolah. :/
Same type as the old one or a better one?
Same brand as the old one, but slightly different style to the handle of the pole. The newest model that is sold in some stores is shit. I'm lucky to be able to have found this older model at Walmart. I hope it's as good as the first one I had.
I've been off from work for 4 days now and QoH is driving me nuts.
Ah, decompression sickness setting in, I see. ;P
Or is it compression sickness? Since QoH is doing a lot of pushing around, walking all over your free time.
I do remember getting a little antsy during the weekends when still had a job. Lots of energy nowhere to go.
Have you heard from any of the other companies you've applied to BTW?
The newest model that is sold in some stores is shit.
Well, you have to be cautious when going for a pole. :)
Alex just called and needs me for tomorrow and Saturday so I get to see Alice Cooper after all. :D
Soon I won't be holding back.
I tend to think modesty is an admirable personality trait. Then again, maybe that's just the Dutch way of thinking.
Ma Nature was giving me sexy times dreams last night where I was anything but cautious.
Ma Nature needs to get her sexy ass over here and hand me a dream or two. ;P
She goes by the name Mean Mary
I think I've seen videos of her as well a while ago. I've always liked banjo music and bluegrass.
Trying to have an enjoyable evening simply isn't worth having to deal with her bs.
I know what you mean. Same here, really.
unfortunately I'm not at work tonight and tomorrow night
I assume they didn't need the extra pair of hands?
and not holding back?
The funny thing is that we do hold back. ;P
PS. how did I mis this?
I have the overwhelming urge to play with a willy.
That seems oddly specific. :)
Also, you don't really know what it's like to "play with a willy". ;P
Which is why I'd like to play with one.
You want to dress one up and play house with it? ;P
they liked the way I did it.
Is there a particular skill to it then?
Is there a particular skill to it then?
aila Ali is supposed to be at the gig on Tuesday.
What will she be doing at the gig?
Forgot to mention: you'll get a chance to see Mean Mary yourself as she's coming to your fine country at the end of August IIRC and playing a few gigs. ;P
I'd be going there to have fun
Well we can't have that! Fun should be outlawed anyway. :/
me going to work
Well we can't have that! Work should be outlawed anyway. :/
It keeps me from becoming homicidal.
I would say that you're exaggerating here but then again, you are from Florida. :D ;P
you are from Florida. :D ;P
The cookies were meh.
she's yet to have a bad experience. ;D
How is that funny? Does Florida not actually like PETA?
Edie Falco was there for the meeting
I never watched the Sopranos or Oz. But it must be fun meeting celebrities (which I guess she is?).
The vegan brownies were actually pretty good.
Are those just normal brownies but without butter and eggs? Wait, do brownies have eggs in them? If not, they should. ;)
How is that funny?
the jamb
Thank you, I learned a new word today. :)
*really* gaslighting me with that bullshit.
Is she trying to make you second guess your own memory then? Weird. Does she think you have insecurities WRT that?
then watched 2 church programs
What's the attraction of those kind of TV programs? What do you like about them?
Whenever I go outside, she sneaks out behind me
You should stick a little mirror onto your pants (the butt side) so she can see for herself how ridiculous she looks. ;P
Has spring sprung or is winter clinging on for dear life? ;P
Any tulpen popped up yet?
Isn't that convenient how that works?
It's stupid yet effective. ;P
whether you are living following the 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 definition of love or if you are a suspicious person who thinks the worst of people
Seems like a bit of a false dichotomy. Most people keep it somewhere in between those 2 extremes, I think.
QoH is a living cautionary tale about how *not* to behave.
There will be consequences!!!!.... MWAAAHAAAHAHAAAAAA!!!!.... ;P
So have you lot defrosted yet?
Oh yeah, pretty much. It's still a bit chilly but I like it that way.
Any tulpen popped up yet?
I don't know. Not in our garden though.
Trying not to let the bosses see me.
Yeah, you should perhaps be careful with that. Some customers probably don't like it if you take their picture.
Almost 12 hours tomorrow.
12 hours of continuous work? Really? Is that even legal?
Wayne Huizenga died
From the way you say that I suspect he was a very well-known individual?
So what is it that you had to do for 12 WHOLE HOURS?? ;)
How are your legs and arms? Can you still walk and pick your nose? ;P
How are your legs and arms?
Fine, it's my feet and back that hurt. My back isn't really bothering me down low like when I first started, but the soreness seems to have traveled up to between my shoulder blades for some reason.
I think they should hire a massage therapist for our department. ;P
I just smiled and waved at him
Must have scared the hel out of your boss though.
I think they should hire a massage therapist for our department.
Maybe you can buy one of those massage devices? :)
Must have scared the hel out of your boss though.
Very syncretistic pagan-y stuff
Sigh.
I bet you can tell which camp I'm in.
I guess the protestant camp. Are you a purist in other ways?
tonight at work we just have a pre-show beverage tasting.
How so? What kind of beverage?
How's your Easter going BTW?
Are you a purist in other ways?
I suppose.
How so? What kind of beverage?
SMH
what should have been 15 minutes of prep work and 5 minutes to cook turned into a 5 hour long ordeal with her usual fault finding
Literally 5 hours? How does that work? Can you walk me through that?
the fact that she treats money like water.
Does she know how much (or how little?) money you make? I kinda hope you didn't tell her.
Literally 5 hours?
Yes.
How does that work? Can you walk me through that?
^bok choy, not bok choose >:(
And "accept" not "except" >:(
Then the same bullshit with every other ingredient.
Maybe the key to eating early is to have meals that require very few ingredients. ;P
It's all such bullshit.
Yeah. But we know that, right?
maybe go by the animal shelter to see the doggehs and kittehs.
Why?
Why?
My assumption was a little off. Just saw on the TV that the jets were practicing for Mar-a-Lago defense. That's up in Palm Beach.
she said the exact same thing about the new Roseanne show as I did.
Dan "acquired" one of those lift chairs for her
He stole one? That doesn't seem like a regular working class thing to do. Ah, well, it's a sitcom.
Any time the National Guard has been used before to assist with the border
So I guess the presence of the NG is a temporary measure then?
Got any plans for the weekend BTW?
OMG! OMG! OMG!!! I GOT A DIRECT REPLY FROM TAMMY B ON INSTAGRAM!!! :D :D :D
the problem would fix itself.
In my experience problems never fix themselves. :/
I GOT A DIRECT REPLY FROM TAMMY B ON INSTAGRAM!!!
What happened? What did you do? What does it all mean? :)
Must be something in the water. ;P
I also got a heart/like from Andrea KGB Lee a few days ago.
You're a friend to the stars you are. :)
So you're on facebook, twitter and instagram now?
Must be something in the water.
I have to say, the water IS very wet over here. :)
You're a friend to the stars you are. :)
LOL Just 2 semi-famous peeps ATM. ;P
So you're on facebook, twitter and instagram now?
Just fb and instagram. Twitter is a little too public and people can be very vicious and toxic on there.
BTW I put up a couple of pics of the unique boats that go by my work on instagram. One is the round tiki hut bar boat (how that's not a safety hazzard I don't know) and the other is of the Jungle Queen paddle boat. :)
Since you're surrounded by so much water, do you ever see any interesting boats near where you live?
the Jungle Queen paddle boat.
That boat looks like people would hold some fierce poker tournaments on it. ;)
Since you're surrounded by so much water, do you ever see any interesting boats near where you live?
No, but then I don't really live near the sea or a large waterway. There's the local canal but that doesn't have very interesting boats on it.
We're having some nice weather ATM. Unfortunately I've got a fairly unpleasant case of the runs so I prefer stay inside for now. :/
You'd think someone would do something creative.
A long time ago I saw the Sinterklaas boat there. But we usualy care more about practical and safe than about creative.
What caused that?
I actually don't know. Could just be the flu. On the up side, I usually like to eat chocolate to make it stop so there's that. :)
Ma Nature lurking
Ha, I now have this image of a little Ma Nature peeking out from between your legs. I'm not sure it's creepy or adorable. ;P
And there's also some film crew in our room filming for some reason.
In your room? At work?
they're probably Brazilian
Are you serving Brazilian guests as well?
I hope my car is okay.
I hope so too. Repairs cost moneyz dammit. :/
In your room? At work?
Yes, in the ballroom.
Are you serving Brazilian guests as well?
I'm not aware of any recently, but the last time I worked here, there used to be a couple different events for Brazilian people.
I hope so too. Repairs cost moneyz dammit. :/
Well, after I had posted here, I learned that there was a bit of damage. Part of a roof (about 2x3 meters in size) got blown off from somewhere and landed on the top floor of the garage where we all park. It landed about 2 spaces from my car and people were saying that it hit the big boss' car. Just glad it didn't hit mine. He makes plenty of money and I'm assuming has good car insurance since he drives a luxury car.
the ballroom
Were they filming the balls? ;P
I'm assuming has good car insurance
What would have happened if your car had sustained serious damage?
QoH assaulted me again today
I doubt very seriously that QoH would call the cops.
But in case she would, do you think you could tell a convincing story?
Have you talked about this on the forum BTW?
But in case she would, do you think you could tell a convincing story?
IDK, I hope so.
Have you talked about this on the forum BTW?
No. I've been too busy with work and when I get home I don't feel like it. Besides, I pretty much know what others would say and there's not anything they can do about it anyway.
Anyhoo, we had a wedding today for 170 guests. They were all really nice people. The bride's side was Italian. Not sure about the groom's side. I was there for 11.5 hours but I'm not feeling too tired. It was a fairly easy one. :)
there's not anything they can do about it anyway.
Maybe you need to call Dr. Phil ? ;P
It was a fairly easy one.
Nice. :)
What type of wedding was it? Just a traditional one? Or something less orthodox?
The other 2 bosses don't allow it, so you have to be sly if you want to get anything. ;)
I got to eat a couple of lamb chops
Aww, Clarice would be so upset. Hannibal would be proud though. ;P
The other 2 bosses don't allow it,
I'm sure there's always more food than needed. What usually happens to the unused food?
What usually happens to the unused food?
I think a lot of it gets repurposed and some thrown away. I know some things come back as food to feed the waitstaff.
In other news, I had to reset the ballroom today for an event tomorrow. All the tables, chairs, and bars were still there from the wedding. I had to remove 5 big round tables, 3 long ones, about 60 chairs, and move the 2 bars back into the kitchen. Then I had to help Alex move a couple cocktail tables in the small theater. Now we wait. (I think it took me about 2 hours to do everything and that was with me going slow.)
Anything going on with you?
So I was scheduled to work until 8:30pm, but we finished early at a bit past 7pm. I asked Alex if I could hang out to get my full time and she was okay with that. (She's salaried so she left.) Getting paid to sit on my ass and watch yootoobs is pretty good work if you can get it. ;P
Anything going on with you?
So far I've finished 5 books on politics and I am reading the 6th ATM.
She's salaried
What does that mean?
to sit on my ass and watch yootoobs
In relative privacy, don't forget that. No QoH around. No worries about your head coming off. :)
Yes, it's wonderful when no one is bothering me. ;P
Oops! Forgot What does that mean?
She makes about 35 or 40 grand per year regardless of how many hours she works, so she's paid the same amount per week. It's good when it's slow, but when it's busy they can work crazy hours. And they get full benefits, too. Us part time/hourly people aren't guaranteed any work and we don't get benefits like retirement account or medical insurance.
I was trying to find a quote about truth being dangerous
Why? Do you have something to hide? ;P
regardless of how many hours she works
Is there a limit to that?
Why? Do you have something to hide? ;P
No, it was a thread about censorship.
Is there a limit to that?
other boss lady
Who is this awful person? Is she the big boss of the company or just a supervisor?
It's getting really warm here BTW. I'm wearing shorts ATM. :o
Now people will be able to see your sexy legs.
Well, I only wear them inside ATM so people will be spared that horrific sight. ;P
She made some fake profiles on gay websites for bitchy-poo and put her real phone #'s.
That seems a little irresponsible.
I smuggled home a salmon dinner and some good chocolates
Ah, it's not al bad then. Good. :)
That seems a little irresponsible.
She's crazy, but she's also really funny.
You mean like literally crazy or just eccentric crazy?
It'll probably be a $40 job
A little extra money never hurts. :)
I'm sure they had to have made several hundred dollars in tips each.
As I said, a littel extra money never hurts. ;P
Hey, you have a birthday coming up. :)
I think I might buy myself a Cobra Kai t-shirt
Well, why not? If that's what you like.
Is there nothing more you would like?
brass knuckles made from spent shell casings
Could you make them from sandwiches as well? ;P
I think it would make a cool belt buckle.
Hmmmm, sandwich beltbuckle. ;P
Arekino-san, you are a massive dork. ;P LOL
Hey, did I tell you that Mean Mary has a new song about you? It's called Harlequin. ;P
Is there nothing more you would like?
I'd like for QoH to drop dead or at least stop being a massive bitch, but I doubt that's going to happen. And it's illegal to pay an assassin. ;P
OMG, my stomach muscles are freaking killing me ATM! I did 1,200 reps of abs exercises on Saturday and the effects are just now hitting me. Oh well, the price one pays to be smokin' hot. ;P ;D
you are a massive dork.
Thank you! :)
(BTW I did not know that dork is slang for penis. :) )
It's called Harlequin.
Sounds okay to me. :)
the price one pays to be smokin' hot.
Just don't catch fire. :)
I mean, don't overdo it. You're not getting any younger. ;P :D
I haven't written anything in a looong time. ;P
My knees hurt inexplicably today
Which part of your knees?
In other news I'm feeling very horny today.
Goooood.... Let the horniness flow through you... ;P
I think I might channel that into writing some smut or something.
Just let your hands do the work. ;P
Sounds interesting though. :)
Which part of your knees?
Joint pain.
Just let your hands do the work. ;P
Oh, they did. About half a dozen times. ;P
Sounds interesting though. :)
And then if I leave the house wearing street clothes QoH won't believe I'm going to work and will accuse me of some nefarious liason.
it fit a little loose in the legs
How is that a bad thing?
I think some of the menfolk will get very distracted IYKWIM.
Was it a camel toe situation? :o
all the crap I carry on me usually
What kind of crap do you mean?
How is that a bad thing?
So what are you up to, Arekino-san?
So what are you up to, Arekino-san?
Jusrt reading political history books and playing some videogames.
Not doing any exercise. :)
Eating some chocolate now and again. ;)
It's Kingday tomorrow but I don't think I'll do anything about it.
Not doing any exercise. :)
Not interested in looking sexy? ;P
Eating some chocolate now and again. ;)
That's always a prudent thing to do. ;)
Or eat something quintessentially Dutch? ;P
Not interested in looking sexy?
Define "sexy". :)
So what does one normally do on Kingday?
There's a sort of a garage sale in the park for everyone. One can drink "oranjebitter" and/or eat an orange "tompoes". One can dress in orange. One can hoot and holler.
One can also stay at home and watch the king do embarrassing things on TV.
So how did the setup go? No problemo?
o how did the setup go? No problemo?
No, pretty easy. There wasn't much for us to do as they rented big square tables and fancy chairs and the rental peeps delivered those and put them in place. All we did was put the tablecloths on and help set the tables with utensils, plates, and glassware. And I put the glassware on the 2 bar back tables. We finished early so I'm sitting on my ass until I get the 5 hours that I was scheduled for. :)
I'm sitting on my ass until I get the 5 hours that I was scheduled for.
It's a tough job but someone's gotta do it. ;P
You don't get bored? There's only so many youtube movies you can watch. :)
Got any plans for the weekend?
You don't get bored? There's only so many youtube movies you can watch. :)
Sometimes it's very boring.
Got any plans for the weekend?
Just working this wedding ATM (the grooms side are Dutch folks with accents. ;P I was helping them find out how to get to their hotel from here on my phone earlier. Apparently it's one street over, but on the other side of the river from here.)
I think QoH wants to go to the store tomorrow. How exciting. :/
the grooms side are Dutch folks with accents.
Were they actually Dutch or just American citizens with an accent?
How exciting.
Make sure to give her her "calming down" pills. ;P
Good luck BTW. Try to keep a cool head. :)
I know what Dutch sounds like. ;)
Good luck BTW. Try to keep a cool head. :)
It doesn't look like we're going to the store today. I'm too tired. And I brought home some food last night, so QoH is temporarily appeased. ;P
to cover the smell
Ewww... :|
I know what Dutch sounds like.
Grglglgllg ggaggachhah rlalamlrmll grgrgrggrg grgggr? ;P
Actually, we all just worship Cthulhu. ;P
so QoH is temporarily appeased.
Yeah, but next time she'll demand human sacrifice. ;P
Ewww... :|
Exactly. I don't want to work in an office environment that's contaminated with cum and vag secretions. D:
Actually, we all just worship Cthulhu. ;P
I'm not surprised. It's always the unassuming ones. Well, that's what happens from centuries of dealing with the North Sea. ;P ;D
Yeah, but next time she'll demand human sacrifice. ;P
She basically gets that every time I have to bust my ass at work to pay for food and etc for her. :/
centuries of dealing with the North Sea.
Millennia, actually. ;)
every time I have to bust my ass
Aha, so that's where that pound of flesh comes from. ;P
So have you decided if you're going to buy that Cobra Kai t-shirt for your birthday?
did you hear about the new yootoob Cobra Kai series
No I did not.
It looks pretty good from what I watched.
It can't be as good as the remake with Jaden Smith. ;P
I guess it's sort of a nostalgia thing?
It can't be as good as the remake with Jaden Smith. ;P
D: Ugh, that one sucked. Even the Hilary Swank one sucked. :/
I guess it's sort of a nostalgia thing?
I said yes, of course,
Am I wrong in thinkng that you really like your job?
At least Alex will be there on Saturday to act as a buffer. ;)
And they are having some weird kombucha tea on the beverage table.
Sounds interesting. Did you have a taste?
She doesn't like him, either.
Is there a anyone on this planet who she does like?
Nothing much going on here. We had national remembrance day today. And tomorrow is Liberation day. Lots of WW2 stuff on TV.
Did you have a taste?
Absolutely not. I know how that shit's made. ;P
Is there a anyone on this planet who she does like?
I certainly don't want to pay for a subscription. ;)
I know how much you *love* the WW2 stuff. ;P ;D
I don't get the joke... :/
It was very well done and entertaning.
What kind of show is it?
I don't get the joke... :/
Johnny is a loser
What makes him a loser?
then he kicks the shit out of them
Yeah, as a rule, never assume the other guy isn't crazier than you are. :)
What makes him a loser?
works shitty odd jobs doing handyman type work.
Ah, he has a job. Therefore he is not a loser. ;P
He just sounds down on his luck and poor. Kinda like me and you. Except you have a job.
Happy Birthday BTW!! ;)
Ah, he has a job. Therefore he is not a loser. ;P
Well, now I know who to be careful around.
for not knowing today was my birthday.
How did she find out?
I went ahead and ordered that Cobra Kai t-shirt.
Good for you. Nothing wrong with giving yourself something nice now and again. :)
some asshole ratted out me and S for taking food home on Saturday night.
I thought you were allowed to do that? I guess you need to ask specific permission first?
How did she find out?
I can see that S is going to be a two faced asshole and that I should be wary of him.
Maybe he has a cousin who could use your job? :o
86F today
About 30 degrees Celsius. That's pretty hot. That's a summer temperature over here.
They're pretty nice so far.
In what sense?
Maybe he has a cousin who could use your job? :o
He already has his son working in the bistro here.
:o
He's slowly replacing every employee with a member of his family. Then he'll take over the company. ;P
I like my quiet time during the day.
I guess it's going to get real quiet now then?
I guess it's going to get real quiet now then?
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
All because of her twisted perceptions.
It's chicken though. And you got your money back, right? Did you buy another chicken?
I've literally never seen her get out of my room so fast.
That is actually rather funny. :)
I've vowed not to be too restrained with her.
Good for you.
What about the tar on the roof thing though?
What about the tar on the roof thing though?
Only problem is I haven't had time to do it before the rain started.
So do you have leakage problems now?
when I tried the shirt on it fit just fine.
Cool. You know, I wouldn't mind if you send me a pic of you wearing that T-shirt. :)
So do you have leakage problems now?
LOL
Forged In Fire
I wonder what happens to the weapons they forge? Do they have some kind of museum or do they just sell them?
It's like a preview of myself in 14 years.
I guess you like what you see then? :)
I wonder what happens to the weapons they forge?
Pic sent to you mailz. ;)
Pic sent to you mailz
I see. Nice shirt. :)
Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy. :o ;)
You're looking very official there in that pic. A tough cookie.
The lighting sucks though. Your forehead looks a bit big this way. :)
I see. Nice shirt. :)
Thanks. :)
I posted the pic on fb
Wasn't there some scandal involving FB? I gues you still trust them?
The rest of the peeps obviously didn't get the reference.
Maybe they weren't alive during the eighties? Did you have to explain it to them?
Their loss. ;P
Well, I've got myself the Alien 6-film collection from the library so I'm watching that this weekend.
What about you?
the best of those movies had Sigourney Weaver in them
You're not wrong. ;P
mainly to sneer
I completely missed it. Was it really that bad?
a $50,000 bonus
Well, that's what I call a big tip. ;P
I completely missed it.
Lucky you. ;P
Was it really that bad?
A load of rubbish. I'm pretty sure we fought a revolution so we wouldn't have to deal with nonsense like that.
Well, that's what I call a big tip. ;P
Yep. She was so excited that she said she couldn't sleep. I'm very happy for her. She thought she fought badly and had apologized to her fans after the fight. Dana White obviously thought differently. :)
Not much to report here. It has been raining all week and continues to rain today. :/
I'm pretty sure we fought a revolution so we wouldn't have to deal with nonsense like that.
Don't you guys have celebrity marriages instead?
It has been raining all week and continues to rain today.
We've had no rain all week. I can't help but expect a thunderstorm soon.
Don't you guys have celebrity marriages instead?
Hey, guess what? The website that I ordered my Cobra Kai shirt from published my review. :)
She's completely batshit crazy.
Hm, yep. :)
Does this mean you still had to go to the post office?
The website that I ordered my Cobra Kai shirt from published my review.
Another masterpiece published. ;P
I was right about the thunderstorm BTW. I want my degree in meteorology now. ;P
I have to go in to work about 5 hours tomorrow.
Nice. A short workday. Have fun. :)
to buy some ice cream that they have on sale.
Also nice. Maybe you can try some new flavors?
Nice. A short workday. Have fun.
I was kinda wanting that flavor.
And I guess they had it? As a kid I used to really like pistache flavor but it's been so long that I've had that I don't even remember what it tastes like. Did they have soft-ice or the watery type?
And I guess they had it?
I'm not sure what you're asking.
Also, the optometrist isn't a civil servant is he/she?
there's the kind that comes out of the tube of a machine.
Ah, okay. We call that style "soft serve". I bought the kind that you scoop. I do love soft serve, though. I buy it sometimes when I go into Sam's and their café isn't busy. If there's no line I buy a vanilla frozen yogurt soft serve. They give a huge portion for $1. :)
How did you calculate the cost?
Because the frames are usually about $200 (QoH insists on designer ones) and the lenses are about $100 each because she gets progressives. :/
Where did she get her last pair?
Lenscrafters. She'll likely go there again for new ones.
Also, the optometrist isn't a civil servant is he/she?
Only if you see one at the VA (Veterans Administration). QoH is not a military veteran, so no.
So is there any advantage to her not having any working glasses or doe she make you do even more chores?
It's getting really warm over here BTW, like summry warm. It's not even summer yet. :/
At least you got those 7 days. :)
I mentioned it to Alex, so I don't know if she had any influence.
she has to attend 5 AA meetings per week and be randomly drug tested.
Seems fair. At least BB is making her deal with her issues. Does she have to pay for those AA meetings herself?
I watched Wonderwoman today. Not a bad movie.
I think AA meetings are free.
Well, someone pays for them, I would think.
just like my sister.
Your sister was an addict?
it's more of a way to try to fill some sort of void within themselves
Alcohol can function as a painkiller, I suppose. Or an anxiety killer, maybe.
I'm just not into those superhero movies.
To each his or her own. :)
Your sister was an addict?
If she'd just go to her damn primary care doctor it would be free, but nooooo!
What's her problem with that doctor then?
Bottom line I'm getting out of it for about half of what it normally costs.
I guess that's the bright side. :)
It's still oppressively warm here. Man, if this is a taste of what summer is going to be like then it's going to be tropical. :/
What's her problem with that doctor then?
it's run by the government and they want to kill all the old people.
Is there a shortage of Soylent Green? ;P
you have no idea
I'll have to take your word for it. ;)
At least I got paid for the latter.
Did you get to keep the money though?
Is there a shortage of Soylent Green? ;P
Did you get to keep the money though?
It's still in my wallet ATM.
There was euthanasia drug in the pet food at high enough levels to kill several pets.
Oh dear... :/
It's still in my wallet ATM.
And what is it going to do once it comes out? :)
And what is it going to do once it comes out? :)
Don't know ATM.
the stress from her is going to give me health problems.
It does sound like that's a possiblility. :/
So how will the laser procedure be paid for?
BTW, on the bright side, QoH's phone still works, you're still fertile and you still have a job to escape into. :)
Oh, and ##Cyberhugs## for you. :)
So how will the laser procedure be paid for?
It's all so absurd and exhausting.
I wonder where she gets those ideas from? Those specific fears? Is any one having bad influence on her?
I can well imagine all the lies that she's been telling them about me.
Hopefully the nabes aren't too gullible.
I bought a new comicbook. Had not done that in a while. Then again, there does not seem to be that much out there anymore that I like.
Who knows. I think the grandmother sees that QoH is nuts. ;)
Well, I hope you enjoy your comic. ;)
Ya know, all the sensationalized bs that they show about this and that that will kill you
I'm not sure but I don't think we have that over here. We do have the news, of course. We used to have CNN on TV but not anymore.
I hope you enjoy your comic.
Thank you. And I did enjoy it. :)
Are you enjoying anything ATM?
We used to have CNN on TV but not anymore.
That's the fakest of fake news. ;P
Are you enjoying anything ATM?
Just some food that I smuggled home. QoH is being a massive bitch today like every other day. That's certainly not enjoyable. :/
That's the fakest of fake news.
No, no, seriously, it's really not on TV anymore. ;P
That's certainly not enjoyable.
What I'm not enjoying anymore is the heat. It's been too damn hot for too long. Where is winter when you need it?
What did you smuggle home BTW? Also, can I have some? :)
I don't think I'm going to be so brazen with the quantity I take next time
A small family could eat a week off of what you took. :)
Well, almost. ;)
I don't want to get in trouble over something stupid like that.
Yeah, this job is a little too good to lose right now.
Well, it's not *that* good, but it's the only one I have and definitely don't want to lose it.
been eating it for 4 days
I see some exercising in your future. ;P
Hm, I should start exercising a bit as well, I think. I'd like to start taking a walks again but it's so darned warm. :/
Sorry for being a bit late BTW we had some unexpected company in the form of my youngest nephew.
Well, I'm going to sleep now. Good night. :)
I see some exercising in your future. ;P
Anyway, good night and sweet dreams. :)
