I'm not going to get into it with you.

Fine. But this is going to affect how I think about you.

For one thing, it means I'm not interested in Christmas underwear or in you imagining me wearing it.

I just came back from my sister's house. We went for a Christmas dinner there for a change. We usually invite them to my parents' house. Some fun was had. I got a couple of presents. Some paper handkerchiefs and some books.

How did your Christmas go?

Why? Because I have religious beliefs? or because I choose not to get into something where we obviously disagree?

You send mixed signals. And maybe I was imagining some young hunky models wearing them. For one, they're ridiculous and the kinda thing people give as gag joke gifts, they're not serious.

How did your Christmas go?

It was very hot here. I think it was some sort of record. I mowed the lawn on Christmas eve. QoH had been quite subdued since threatening to make me walk home on Sunday. She was definitely mellow Mon, Tue, and Wed, and I starting waiting for the other shoe to drop. Thur she started to get a bit bitchy and yesterday she got pissy over the steaks. She kept distracting me while I was trying to cook them (I had them on the grill outside and had to come in and out for things and she kept delaying me). When I went back outside the grill had flared up from the melted fat and the 2 steaks on there were getting charred. I thought they were going to be ruined. I flipped them and cooked the other side a bit and then brought them in to trade for the other 2 to be cooked.

I assumed that the 1st 2 would be well done so I designated them for QoH while I cooked the other 2. I like mine medium rare and she likes well done. Anyway, she got an attitude because she wanted one of the ones I had made for myself (I guess because it was thicker and had more fat around the edge). I wasn't actually trying to take "the best ones for myself", just that it worked out that way because I assumed that the other ones were cooked too well. Anyway, It turned out that the one steak for QoH was quite rare. She didn't say anything but her body language and silent treatment spoke volumes. She could have just asked me to cook it longer or put it in the microwave for a minute, but she had to act childish over it.

She wasn't too bad today, but she wanted me to make some bruschetta thing. She had bought a jar of this bruschetta stuff and then wanted me to replicate it. That is a setup for failure as I have no idea the ratios of ingredients. I can only go by what the ingredients on the label say. Anyway, I think what I made tasted better, but it wasn't like the one she had bought. Mine was more tomato-y and thick and the one she bought was more oily and runny. Whatever.

Because I have religious beliefs?

There are different ways people can have religious beliefs, I think. You seem to take certain things from the bible literally that most Christian theologians I am sure would not. Plus you seem to have extrapolated things based on that biblical info. That thing about Europeans coming from Japheth's offspring is not religious canon. That's something someone made up recently.

or because I choose not to get into something where we obviously disagree?

You're the one who raised the subject. You obviously wanted to talk about it.

You send mixed signals.

Maybe I do. Okay, from now on no more sexy talk. And no more fantasies, mostly because I find the degree to which you are religious a turn off. Sorry.

I have no idea the ratios of ingredients

You should have asked her for those. :)

Hey, at least you had some nice steak. We had chicken, which wasn't bad but steak would have been nice.

Oh? So you are speaking for most "Christian" theologians? Name them.

It's not something I just came up with. And it is canon. Book of Genesis. Plus what I was researching came from the writings of Josephus the Roman historian who was writing of things that were considered common knowledge for roughly 2000 years ago.

That's something someone made up recently.

Tell that to Josephus.

I'm sure if I wanted to talk about Buddhism or some new age stuff you would probably tolerate that. I'm not really that surprised by your reaction.

You should have asked her for those. :)

She doesn't know them. The ingredients on the jar doesn't give ratios.

I can't, I admit. It's something I've vaguely remembered from TV or something. What's your opinion on modern Christian theologians? Got any favourite ones?

Josephus the Roman historian who was writing of things that were considered common knowledge for roughly 2000 years ago.

Josephus may have been reliable when writing about contemporary events but he knew nothing of DNA, nothing of Giants, nothing of Nephilim, he could not have.
The bible does not state where Europeans came from AFAIK. Show me the text.

things that were considered common knowledge for roughly 2000 years ago.

People who lived 2000 years also were wrong about things sometimes.

I'm sure if I wanted to talk about Buddhism or some new age stuff you would probably tolerate that.

Sure, I can tolerate that. If you want to talk about your beliefs I'm fine with that too. Just don't expect me to take them seriously. I wouldn't take Buddhist beliefs or New Age stuff or Islamic stuff or ancient Greek mythology or Hinduism or whatever religion seriously either.

I'm not really that surprised by your reaction.

Well, you knew I'm not religious. No reason for surprise.

I don't think he's considered a theologian, but I do enjoy Dr Ravi Zacharias' talks.

he knew nothing of DNA, nothing of Giants, nothing of Nephilim, he could not have.

It's a shame the ancient texts are not around for perusal. It's annoying when you are reading something by Josephus and he refers to such-and-such text and it doesn't exist anymore, or like in the Apocrypha the same sort of thing. The Jewish Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed in Josephus' lifetime. There must've been a shit-ton of ancient scrolls there. Anyhoo, the giants and nephilim stuff is all in the Tanakh and related commentaries. I'm not sure if it's referenced in the Talmud. Def Genesis 6:1-4. Josephus refers to it Book 1, Chapter 3. Also Book of Enoch.

The bible does not state where Europeans came from AFAIK. Show me the text.

The genealogies start in Genesis 10. The different commentaries I've seen show Greeks, Iberians, Scythians, and Medes as descendants of Japheth. Josephus details it in Book 1, Chapter 5, eg Gomerites = Galatians, which this map that I have of Celtic Europe produced by National Geographic states that the Galatians were Celtic mercenaries who settled in that area of Asia Minor 3 centuries BC and were the early Christian converts who Paul wrote to in the Epistle to the Galatians. It also references places in the Iberian Peninsula and near the Carpathian Mountains as Galicia. I'm assuming Galacians is what the Romans called Celtic peoples as opposed to Germanic tribes which they viewed as separate.

People who lived 2000 years also were wrong about things sometimes.

Have you ever seen ancient Sumerian limericks? Those are wrong on many levels. ;P

Ugh, I'm sooo freaking tired. 5 hours shopping with QoH. Errrrrruggghhh. :/

Dr Ravi Zacharias'

I don't find him convincing. He's apparently a popular Christian apologist. What do you like about him?

Josephus refers to it Book 1, Chapter 3. Also Book of Enoch.

So he's just repeating what other people have written down at some point. That doesn't make Jospehus an authority on Nephilim and such. The stories about Nephilim probably predate the written word anyway. I'd expect the origin to be folktales made up by sheep herders on lonely days. Did Josephus do any original research? Any some archeological digging? Genetic research?

Those are wrong on many levels.

"Wrong" as in incorrect or "wrong" as in wrong-funny? I was referring to the first type of "wrong".

5 hours shopping with QoH.

How does that not tire her out? She's old, she's got ailments... How?

Not an option.

Ma Nature is being a massive bitch this time around. I had a really bad stabbing pain in the uterus today that felt like what I imagine a birth contraction would feel like. My lower back still hurts. And my right knee is acting up (not Ma Nature related). My knees have started to make Rice Crispies crackling noises when I do leg exercises. I guess I'll have to start taking supplements like old people now. :/

At least I'm not having that weird headache thing today. It felt like a squeezing sensation at the base of my skull and then like a rubber band around my head, but not persistent. It was like a pulse every few minutes for several hours. It made me feel kinda out of it like being drugged or something. I have no idea what caused that.

IDK, I think it was an old work injury, but I've always had wonky knees since high school where I had to go up and down stairs all day long. I used to get knee pain back then. I'm fairly certain that my right knee is the same one that was injured and I had to get a brace for it like over 15 years ago.

I've never had migraines, I don't think. Maybe it was some kind of cluster thing. IDK.

And a happy New Year to you, too! Don't go setting any buildings on fire like in Dubai. ;P

I stayed inside and read. Then I listened to the Morrissey concert from L.A. There were some peeps around here setting off fireworks but not as many as in the past. Of course there are always idiots shooting guns so it's best to stay inside. :/

It's easier to get on the toobs on the phone. No waiting for the laptop to fire up. :) (and easier to hide ;P)

Well, I haven't been seeking out any new stories for the past month or so. I get random stories in my mail from writers that I've either chosen to follow or favorited. Still OUAT. One of the writers writes stuff for Glee as well, but I just ignore those as I never watched that show and I'm not interested in it. The French girl recently did a Christmas series with one-shots of all all the different pairings. She writes very well so I enjoyed it even though there were characters that I don't like. She at least makes them bearable.

Oh yeah, you should have seen the last incident (the walk home threat) when she was in full Exorcist mode and spewing but trying to control calling me names. She was so mad that she tried to hold back but the curses still came out. And it's all recorded. :)

No, but I did have a scare the day after. I had gotten up and then went to take a shower and wash my hair, so I was in the bathroom for a while. When I came out and went to my room, I went to get the phone from the usual place where I keep it and it was GONE. I started to panic that she came in my room and took it. I decided to not say anything and see how it played out. I went down to the kitchen where she was and she didn't say anything. She can play it cool when she wants to, so I acted casual, too. I'm usually not good at hiding my emotions. My face is generally like an open book. Anyway, I went back up to my room and by chance I was picking up some clothes and my phone was under there. Apparently what happened is I had it on the charger the night before and put it in its case and laid it down, then later when I was preparing for bed I had shucked my shirt off and tossed it on top of the phone having forgotten it was there. So I was really glad I didn't fly off the handle and make accusations. ;P

It has FINALLY gotten cool here, too. Current temp is just below 70 so it's nice. :)

Anyhoo, I've been occupying myself with exercising. I've been working my calves since IMO they are lacking definition and been doing some squats for the ol' quads.

It's a joke to call what we get here "winter". I don't think we've gotten any cool weather for an extended period of time since I was a kid. When QoH croaks I'd like to move someplace like Maine or maybe New Mexico or Utah.

There does seem to be a certain amount of running involved though. ;P

It seems like a reasonable amount. And most of it is at the end if you make it to the final obstacle course.

Did you see the episode where they (the wimminz) had to drop the 40lb log in the hole and then pull the 115lb pole out of the ground, drag it to the hole, plop it in and then climb it to the top to ring the bell? 40lbs really isn't that much to me since I use 2 20lb dumbbells, but I weigh just slightly more than 115lbs myself. I'm thinking that would be more technique, like using leg strength to inch it up while bear hugging it to keep it from falling back in the hole.

The other one that seemed not that hard to me was when they had 3 different weights of medicine balls (10lb, 20lb, and 30lb) and had to pick each up and run up the hill and toss them like 10 feet to a holding area? The 3rd ball they had to run all the way up the hill and toss it over a 6ft high wall and then climb over the wall. That's one I'd like to try. I did some mental calculations and it seems doable to me. ;D

Ah, I understood that reference then after all. :)

3 different weights of medicine balls

Those medicine balls are hard to hold on to though. We had them at school during PE and those things are surprisingly difficult to handle. Running with them is twice as hard. A lot of dead weight.

It's interesting to hear all the different accents of the contestants BTW.

We did, too, but these newfangled ones seems to be much smaller and easier to maneuver. The hill that they do it on is pretty steep so they weren't really running much. ;P

Ah, yes, the good ol' regional accents. There are distinct regions like New England, Southern, Midwest, Minnesota, and California, and those are further broken down into even more distinct ones--New England and Southern in particular. Philadelphia and New York are similar but have there own quirks. Just like Boston and Mainers. ;P IIRC "fuck me running" is a Maine thing. Also "Ya can't get they-ah from he-ah". LOL ;P

You can't really count S Florida. I could go across the street and go house to house and you'd get a different accent at each one. Anything from Jamaican to Tennessee to North American Black to Puerto Rican. Plus Florida is where peeps come to retire so there's a bunch of different ones here. But it always used to be S Florida was distinctly Northern and N Florida was distinctly Southern. I think you probably have to get past Orlando to find the Southern accents. Then there's a difference between N Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. When you hit Maryland their accent is funky sounding. Then New Jersey/New York. Then Massachusetts and that New England accent.

I did one of those online tests to see what my accent was and I was a cross between Michigan and Hudson Valley, NY. Probably because my mother's mother was from upstate NY and she and my grandfather lived in the Detroit area for a while. ;P

I haven't seen a good movie in weeks.

I watched Foxcatcher last weekend. It wasn't what I thought it would be. Kinda O_o I investigated further and the movie made it seems worse than it was. They changed some important details. Steve Carell did a really good John E. DuPont, though.

I guess the immigrants compensate for the lack of population growth then? I'm guessing that that's one reason some people have such lenient attitudes towards the influx of immigrants in Europe. Apparently European women aren't popping out enough kiddies themselves.

Yeah, so the EU is going to import muzzie males to rape 'em into having kids.

It was completely different than what I expected. I was under the impression that it was going to be about some obsessive tyrant of a coach pushing his wrestlers too hard. Then it turned out to be about crazy-ass John DuPont. The movie was vastly different from the facts of the case. Mark Schultz originally met DuPont at Villanova IIRC and then went to live at the estate for 2 years. He left before his brother Dave came to stay there. Dave was there for like 6 years before DuPont killed him and was more of a friend to him than Mark was. I vaguely remember hearing about the incident when it happened in '96 when DuPont had the standoff with the police after the shooting.

That is without a doubt their masterplan. I'm being sarcastic of course. There's something quite familiar though about the "muslims are raping our women" meme. Similar to things peope said about black people in places like Mississipi a long while ago. I'm wondering if there's a lynch mob in Europe's future.

in '96 when DuPont had the standoff with the police after the shooting.

Strangely, I don't remember anything about the event. Maybe it wasn't a big news item over here.
Steve Carrell was almost unrecognizable in that movie BTW. Very different. Best part of the movie IMHO. I wonder if the real DuPont had somekind of PD?

I posted this from my phone but somehow it didn't show up here(although there's a copy in my inbox O_o):

I think it's a recipe for disaster to bring in such huge amounts of people from a vastly different and incompatible "culture" and think everyone is going to get along.

I don't think the DuPont incident was such big news. It was mainly a domestic thing that the news tried to sensationalized because of it being an heir from a prominent family. The standoff was over and done with without much incident. The police cut the power and basically froze him out.

When I watched the movie DuPont's character screamed PD to me and the story was so bizarre that I looked it up. That's when I found the real story. So it seemed like he was more mentally ill than PD, but he still seemed NPD to me. It's possible to have comorbidity.

Yeah, Carell looked really different. He and Mark Ruffalo were good in it. I think Channing Tatum sucks as an actor.

No fun yet. I trimmed some hedges yesterday and then last night a strong storm came through. It sounded like all hell breaking loose but only lasted a few minutes. Then the same thing happened a little while ago. I hope it's finished as I planned on BBQing some ribs and hamburgers today. :)

^ I think all that storm business was some sort of half assed cold front trying to move it. It feels slightly cooler outside. The weather report said it was supposed to go down to the high 50's tonight (we'll see about all that, harumph!).
