Thought this was timely

I saw this on FB from the Stuff Dutch People Like page.  I thought it was funny considering Arekino-san recently went through something similar. đŸ˜›

Something very, very similar, I'd say.

Some things were different though. Party started at 15:oo but dinner (well, soup and bun sandwiches) WAS included. Host did present a plate with goodies to eat, had several. Cake options were threefold: 2 chocolate types and 1 apple pie type. The rest is quite accurate.

Although parties (for adults) don't always start at 15:00. Sometimes they start around 20:30 and people can stay till 01:00 or later.

I personally do not kiss on the cheek when leaving.

So do parties not have any kind of traditional format in the USA?

LOL! ;P

Nope, they can be at any time, for any length, and you can serve whatever you want. The only thing that is traditional is a birthday cake for a birthday party.

I had heard years ago about the sitting around in a circle thing you folks do at a party. And that coffee or tea is usually offered and a tray of some sort of sweets is passed around and you are expected to stay only a couple hours. ;P

Well today we had to take QoH's truck to the mechanic. Turned out to have 2 bad spark plugs and needed new wires plus QoH had them do an oil change since it was overdue for one. Ended up costing $350. D:

Now next week we have to take the car for an oil change and take the truck back to fix the door handle that broke and the driver's side window that won't roll down. That'll probably be at least another $350. :/

I guess I'm going to have to get that job as soon as possible to pay for all this shit. I think I'm just going to call my old manager from the art center and see if she'll rehire me. They spent over $50 million remodeling the place and got the catering department back. There was even a job posting for catering there on the website. And since I've worked there before and know the manager, I might have a good chance of getting hired. Keep your fingers crossed. :) (of course QoH will likely throw a fit and say the only reason I want to work there is because of the gay people who go there. :rolls eyes: )

I know it´s off topic but I could do with abit of an oil change myself. I've been feeling pretty sick since a few days. Maybe I ate some bad shrinp at the party.

That'll probably be at least another $350.

Well, crap, can you even afford that? How would that change your financial outlook?

Keep your fingers crossed.

I'll be keeping both fingers and toes crossed for extra good luck. :)

Just click on her "Ignore" button. ;P

Yeah, I've been feeling a bit off myself lately. I think the low level nausea is due to the recent financial stress and anxiety because of all the money QoH is pissing away. :/

can you even afford that?

No, and IMO it's something that isn't a priority.

How would that change your financial outlook?

It means the money will run out quicker and I'll have to find a job sooner. :/

Anyway, Thanksgiving is tomorrow and no food has been prepared yet. I don't feel like cooking ATM. The ham only needs to be heated, the butternut squash gets nuked in the microwave, and the cranberry mold is just a matter of blending the cranberries with gelatin and pouring it into the mold and letting it set. I think QoH wants to make stuffing, too, so that item will be an ordeal to make. :/ I hate holidays with fussy meal items.

A bit of both, I think. About a year ago there was this big scandal about some companies mixing horse meat with other types of meat. I can only assume they're no longer being allowed to do that. Although I'm told horse meat is actually a very healthy and even delicious kind of meat.

Has your mother commented on that in any way?

Not really. At first she threw a fit and accused me of waiting until all the money was gone to tell her, which is not what I did. She kinda mentioned once that I'll have to get a job, but hasn't really spoke of it much. She's just kinda ignoring the problem, which is what she's best at. Ignore and kick the can down the road and avoid changing her own behavior and hope that someone will come along and fix everything. She's always been rather immature in that way. :/ The worst part is she expects someone else to fix everything (that job falls to me now) but wants to control and micromanage how you do it. So why doesn't she just do it herself? Because she doesn't want to be blamed if something goes wrong. >:(

About a year ago there was this big scandal about some companies mixing horse meat with other types of meat.

D:

I don't really have anything against eating it. To each his own and all that. I think in this country people have a problem eating animals that are companion animals or "friends". We don't eat our friends. ;P Also I think because we have a very strong Judeo-Christian heritage and horse isn't "kosher", but mainly the first reason.

I would probably try it if I knew it was humanely sourced. Since it's illegal here, there has been a big problem in S Fla with people stealing and killing people's pet horses or racehorses and killing them with chainsaws to sell the meat on the black market. The ones buying it do so because of superstitious or bullshit reasons like santerĂa or they think eating horse meat will make their penis as big as a horse's. :/

Hey, theoretically, if you can't get a job and you run out of money, do you have a back-up plan for that? Would you have to sell the house or something? What about social services?

Yep, they let a lot of sick fuckers stay in the country. :/

I'm sure I'll be able to get something. Retailers are always hiring due to turnover. QoH refuses to use any govt assistance even though she definitely qualifies for some things. She'd likely stop paying for the satellite TV service and maybe the landline phone. The largest bill is the electric bill. She refuses to not run the A/C all the damn time. That would cut the bill down a lot if she would just do that.

It's actually cheaper to live in the house we're in. Since it was purchased over 40 years ago the taxes are less than half of what everyone else pays around here. I'd have to save only $150/month to pay taxes. The cheapest rent for a tiny apartment is around $850/month plus utilities. D:

Yeah, is it really that warm in FLorida 24/7? Surely the temperature goes down at night?

I see. That won't be an option then.

So how is applying for those jobs going along? :)

Most of the time it is, except for sometimes from November to February.

Surely the temperature goes down at night?

Not really.

She could set the temperature to a higher setting when we are out of the house, but she won't do it. Luckily it hadn't been too hot lately so the A/C doesn't kick on that much.

So how is applying for those jobs going along? :)

I haven't applied to any yet. I wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Also QoH has another appointment for the mechanic on Wednesday. And she needs to call up her health insurance to switch plans before December 7 which is the deadline to switch.

I think I'm going to call my old boss before I try filling out applications. Like I said before, I know that job and it *should* pay more than a retail job.

BTW, QoH managed to trip over a root in the back yard and fall down while she was out there being nosy. She has a habit of tripping over things when she is focused on something else. She tripped 3 times at work, twice injuring herself badly, and this is probably the third or forth time she had tripped in the back yard. She was out there for over 2 hours before I figured out a way to get her up and back in the house. I doubt she has learned her lesson. :/

Geesh, do you guys even have the money now to rent a forklift??

But seriously, why did it take 2 hours? Was she in denial of the fact that she'd tripped?

I needed a forklift. :/

But seriously, why did it take 2 hours? Was she in denial of the fact that she'd tripped?

Because she is a drama queen and too narcissistic to allow me to call the fire department who would send out a crew to pick her up. She would be "too embarrassed" so she'd rather sit out there and be dramatic. She allegedly "doesn't have *any* cartilage" in her knees and she can't get up on her own. That might be partly true, but it's mainly because she's so fucking fat that she doesn't have the strength to get up.

I tried calling Himself across the street for help lifting her, but unfortunately he was in Orlando. So I brought out QoH's ottoman that she uses to step on to get into bed and she managed to get up on that and into a seated position. Then later she had the idea to use the 2 2"x16"x24" boards that I use as a ramp for the front porch and shove them one at a time under her ass to get her seated higher up. I got a low coke crate and shoved it under her, too, and that was enough to get her to stand.

Hopefully that little scare will keep her out of the back yard looking for things to bitch about.

Yeah, she's about 80 pounds heavier than I am (she alleges that she lost about 10 or 15 pounds) and a bit shorter. I'm a whopping 117 pounds myself. There's no way I can pick her up unassisted. :/ And BTW fat people feel like titties all over, that's not just an Internet meme. I'm sure you're gonna need mind's eye bleach now. ;P

I doubt that would happen, but I really don't care at this point.

Anyway, this getting old business sucks. I did around 120 push-ups the other night and 50 shoulder presses. (I can now do 40 push-ups in a minute) Now my back hurts. It was a little sore yesterday, but today it's more sore and I feel really tired. I do not like this delayed reaction stuff. When I was younger, it would be sore the next day and then back to normal. :/

Also I colored my hair on Friday. I think the last time I did it was 9 months ago. It was reeeally grown out silver. D:

Then today I had to re-hang QoH's mattress pad outside because it didn't get dry the day it was washed. Then I had to bring it back in when it was dry and fold it up and put it away. Then QoH wanted me to clean the stove top which was a mess mainly because she shakes salt and pepper all over it. Then she wanted me to wash both vehicles again so they would look clean for the mechanic. :rolls eyes: After that, I had to cook a chuck roast. That's now in the oven cooking.

Needless to say I feel exhausted and she won't leave me the fuck alone, keeps coming in here always talking. Never shuts up. >:(

Nah, it was the kinda soreness when you just overdid it a bit. I'm pretty sure it was the shoulder presses that did it. I blasted through 50 reps, but was feeling it on the last 10. Usually I only do 25 reps, but I was feeling energized.

Did you look like someones' grandmother? ;P

Not quite. ;P

You know, I'm kinds curious now as to what it really looked like. :)

Just picture what I look like normally and then imagine about 10cm of silver hair at the temples above my ears. ;P

When's the mechanic due?

Just got back from there. At least it didn't cost too much at this time. The window mechanism wasn't broken, it was just stuck, so it's working now. The door handle will cost about $175 to fix, but he couldn't do it today because the part has to come from Tampa, so it would take a couple days to get it here. QoH will have to call him back to let him know when it's convenient to get it done so he can order the part. Power window motors are effing expensive. I wish I knew how to install it. At least it would save me at least $70 on labor costs.

Not impossible, just improbable. It *does* snow occasionally in North Florida and once in a blue moon we get frost down here. ;P

Unfortunately, QoH never wants to do what's cheapest. :/ If it was my vehicle, I'd at least try to figure out how to take the inside door panel off and try to rig something up to make it work. QoH would likely throw a fit if I tried that, though. :/

Now she wants to spend a lot of money on new tires. They had an ad at Sam's Club for $70 off a new set. The ones that fit her truck are around $125 each. Because they cost less than what she bought them for last time, she assumes that they are poor quality. I'm sure she'll find some that are more expensive to waste money on.

It's like she's trying to use up what's left of the money as fast as she can deliberately. :/

She had wanted to make the rounds shopping yesterday and go early, well early for her, around 1pm. If I didn't mention it before, she had me take all the crap out of her truck before she took it to the mechanic because she's paranoid that someone is going to steal it, stuff like a fire extinguisher, flashlight, radar detector, assorted corkscrews, antibacterial handwipes, tissues, etc. Well, she had wanted it to go back in.

So yesterday she says she wants to go to the store ASAP. I think it was around noon at that point. I had just cooked an omelette for her and was in the middle of cooking my own. She says 'how soon can you be ready?' and I tell her as soon as I finish eating. Mind, she wasn't ready to go anywhere herself as she wasn't dressed, still in her muumuu that she wears around the house. So I choked down my food and then grabbed some of her stuff to put back in the truck, put it out there, and start to come back in. She started throwing a fit shouting WTF ARE YOU DOING? YOU'VE RUINED EVERYTHING! I WANTED TO GO EARLY AND YOU'VE RUINED IT! NOW I'M NOT GOING BECAUSE OF YOU! It was so crazy and appeared to me to be kinda planned on her part. IDK with her, she *is* that crazy and irrational sometimes, but that seemed like it was a deliberate way to blame me. I just kinda ignored her as she acted like a psycho shouting her regular abuse at me, and I just went and got dressed to go as her pattern of behavior is to go into rage-mode and then after a while she calms down and is somewhat back to "normal". So when I got dressed, she's shouting at me 'WHERE ARE YOU PLANNING TO GO?' To the store I said, 'well I'm not going' toddler behavior from her. Then more shouting abuse/namecalling and then she retreated to the kitchen in a huff. Took her about 2 hours to finally decide she was going after all (and why I got dressed and stayed dressed).

Then she comes and tells me that she's decided to go to a few stores but she can't go to all of them because *I* screwed everything up and that I had better not start any shit with her in the car, and not jump out like that time before where she *had* to leave me there. She always conveniently forgets that she's the one who starts everything by instantly going into a rage over the most mundane things, and the fact that the reason I jumped out of the car that time was because she was spearing me with the umbrella and screaming at me to get out. All projecting and gaslighting all the time.

So anyway, ended up going (to all of the stores) and I had to medium chill, grey rock, and deflect any "conversation" to get through it. She is such a fucking psychopath. :/

On a positive note, the last time we went shopping I had bought some fried chicken from Publix and they shorted me a wing. When I went in there yesterday, I spoke to a manager and told him what happened so he gave me the extra wing and then comped me the new box of chicken that I was buying, so that was really cool of him. I wasn't expecting that, I just wanted the one wing that was shorted. :)

Not really. Maybe it works for other people, but with QoH she just accuses me of "sulking" or "pouting" whenever I try to disengage from her foolishness. With her it's a constant no win situation.

I guess they take customer service seriously. :)

They do, actually. It's corporate policy for Publix. If they screw up they try to make it right. It's not the first time I got comped for an item. One time I went to buy some heavy whipping cream that was supposed to be on sale. When the cashier rang it up, it came up as regular price. When I mentioned that it was supposed to be on sale he comped it. Also their employees are trained to be very friendly and accommodating and will stop whatever they are doing to help the customer. If they are out of a sale items on the shelf they'll go bring out more from the back. A lot of stores pull bullshit like only putting out a limited number of sale items on the shelf and when they're gone, too bad. And with Publix if they actually run out of something they'll give you a rain check to get the sale price whenever they get the item back in stock.

And Publix is usually very well organized and clean. They are a Florida store that has now expanded to a few other Southeast states. :)

It's what you buy to make whipped cream. Once you beat it with an electric mixer for about 5 minutes it turns into fluffy whipped cream. :)

They are always hiring but unfortunately they don't pay much, minimum wage or slightly higher I think.

Well, get on with it then. ;)

It's like the powers that be are working against me. QoH wanted me to cut the rest of the tree stump today, but the chainsaw wouldn't start. I think it might need a new spark plug so I'll have to go buy one. Then the gas bill came and said that last month's bill wasn't paid even though it was sent, so I had to call them and explain and get the late fee removed. Now that has to be mailed again today. Anyway, I got the new spark plug for the chainsaw (yesterday) and installed it today. That was obviously the problem as it started up on the first pull. :)

Asshole QoH wants to plant another avocado tree there. She has one started from a seed in a small pot that she's all antsy to get planted. That's why she's hustling me to get the stump removed. It's kinda nice not having a bigass tree there. Lots of sunlight gets on the yard and the grass has grown in nicely. :)

QoH decided that it was heart dead and wanted it cut down. IMO it had many years of life left. It produced lots of avocados.

The one she wants to plant in its place is a seedling. It'll take decades to get big like the other one. The only good thing is it'll be small for a long time and that side of the yard will stay grassy for a while. :)

I've gotten the results (in writing only) from that little Social Services test from a week ago. Long story short, I suspect they're preparing to force me to do volunteer work as part of some sort of "reintegration plan". Then again, maybe this is all a bullshit test that they organised to make it seem like they are doing something useful. I just think it's strange that so far communication with SS has been via letters and not directly with an actual human. Like as if they don't have to balls to tell me to my face what they want from me.

Highly likely. Government employees are notoriously lazy.

They *are* cowardly as well as lazy. Always looking to take the path of least resistance.

Just like the new neighbor who moved in across the street several months back. After the hurricane I was out talking to another neighbor and this lady came out. Other nabe introduced her, then she said she worked down at the federal building downtown as some sort of clerk. Everything she said afterward was very bigoted and she even admitted that if a Latino person asks for help she just ignores them and walks away and refuses to help them. Needless to say I haven't had any interaction with this woman since.

It's kinda amazing how someone openly admits to being a bigot in such a prideful way. It doesn't surprise me, though. I've had to deal with racist govt employees before during the few times I've had to deal with a govt agency. They mainly hire black and Latino people and if you aren't their same color many of them are racist towards you.

I suppose you don't have to deal with racists and their bs where you live?

Hard to tell, with me not spending much time around other people. I don't remember seeing any hardcore racism but I know it exists. Some people have a big problem with people with a Moroccan background. But that's mostly something in the larger cities like Rotterdam or Utrecht.

We have some politicians who are very anti-muslim. And there are certain websites with a bigoted outlook.

Most people won't care about skincolor but they will sometimes care about your cultural background. I'm sure a lot of people in the larger cities like to think of people in my part of the country as a bunch of (sometimes out-of-control) hillbillies.

Yeah, you're all a bunch of yahoos in flyover country. LOL ;P

I don't care for Mohammadanism. It promotes many negative and destructive things.

Anyhoo, in the damned if you do, damned if you don't category: QoH saw a recipe for spinach rollatini on the TV and insisted that I make some last week. And as is her habit, if she likes something she wants to eat it forever and ever until I'm so fucking sick of it that I wish I was dead. So Friday while out shopping she insisted I buy more eggplants and spinach to make it again. I cooked the eggplants last night and assembled it all today and cooked it. Was QoH thankful? Fuck no! Now she wishes I hadn't cooked it because she's "tired of eating the same thing all the time". This from the same woman who has literally been eating Publix fried chicken every single week since the hurricane for 2.5 months! She's been eating chicken but isn't tired of it. And coleslaw. For almost as long she's insisted on having me make coleslaw. FFS!

Then she's always whining about "I don't have anything to eeeeeeeat!" Or "My body is sooooooo sensitive that I can't eat aaaaanything!" (Fake food sensitivities that she makes up.) Doesn't stop her from eating all day long, though. :rolls eyes:

I'm physically okay but mentally beaten down. Every day there's some false accusation, me trying to explain, and then being accused of "always starting an argument" or "you're such a liar". Like today, I took out a bag of shredded paperwork to the garbage, then came back to get the bag of papers that go to the recycle bin. When I came back in from taking the first bag, QoH says to me, "What we're you doing with the spray bottle?" I'm like, 'what spray bottle? I was taking a bag of shredded papers to the garbage'. Then she says she *SAW* me pick up a spray bottle and go outside. I absolutely *DID NOT* pick up a spray bottle at any time today, nor did I go outside with one, but she's going to swear and be damned that she *SAW* me do something I never did. Either she's hallucinating or 100% gaslighting me to deliberately make me insane. Dealing with these constant false accusations is exhausting. And she *did* accuse me of spraying her plants with Roundup. Even though I do not have any Roundup. All I can think is she's created such a paranoid delusion about people spraying her plants with Roundup that it's somehow manifesting as visual hallucinations. I told her her confirmation bias is so strong against me that she believes her fantasies are reality and that she has serious mental problems.

In other news, we've had snow today! Yay! First snow of the year and it's not even winter.

Woo-hoo! We had our first cold day of the season today, too! It only got up to about 16C. :) It's supposed to get into the high 40'sF tonight (high single digits C). :)

I wish I was in New York, though. Rockefeller Center looked so pretty with the snow and Christmas decorations and they have that outdoor ice skating rink. :)

Yep. :) As long as it doesn't get too cold. QoH was already threatening to turn the heat on today. Such a damn baby. Just put on some sweats and put another blanket on the bed when you go to sleep at night. Logic eludes her.

Congratulations. :) What was the discussion about?

Thanks. It was about how the govt was going to audit the Defense Department for like the first time ever. I just stated the obvious that *all* govt departments and agencies should be audited. I guess because I commented minutes after the story was posted it was toward the top so people saw it before they posted and I got lots of likes. Also had some good back and forth with some peeps. :)

Apparently he made a pipe bomb filled with matchstick heads. I'm kinda glad he wasn't more competent or less of an idiot.

It's kinda funny, if you're too much of an idiot you'll do stupid things but you're too dumb to do major damage but if your too smart you'll probably not resort to terrorism in the first place. It's like there's some sort of goldilocks zone for intelligence in terrorists that makes them just intelligent enough to be dangerous to other people.

Oh! Forgot to mention, QoH did exactly what I predicted she would do--I was awakened today by the feeling of being cooked to death. She had the damn heat blasting away. I got up and turned it off, then there was a battle for the next couple hours over the thermostat. It was so effing hot at one point that I was walking around in nothing but flip flops and underwear. :/ And to make matters worse, it was like 78 degrees today, so all she needed to do was open a window to get the chill out of the house. >:(

And to make the day even worse, that little bitch across the street paid that effing Mexican to do their lawn when he came to do the other nabe's yard. If she wanted the yard cut, she could have called me at any time and asked, but for some reason she is avoiding me. When I went out to pick up the ad paper that gets thrown into the yard, herself came out to pay the guy. When she saw me outside and that I knew what was going on, she immediately turned around and literally ran back into the house. It would have been comical if I wasn't so freaking pissed. >:(

She knows I'm not working and need the money. If she has a problem, butch the fuck up and tell me to my face like an adult. I don't like shady behind-your-back shit like that. If they want it done, call me. If you don't want me to do it, at least have enough courtesy to let me know. I don't know what their freaking problem is. Part cowardice and part instant gratification. He (the Mexican) happened to be next door mowing so she wanted it done NOW and asked him?

The other thing that pisses me off about them is any time I did their lawn, they made me wait to get paid. When anyone else does it, they pay immediately. So, yeah, I *do* feel disrespected on a couple levels.

Anyhoo, QoH was being paranoid about bills being sent in the mail, so when the water bill came, she wanted to go pay in person since it's local over in North Miami Beach. It was surprisingly one of the easiest and hassle free encounters with a government office I've ever had. I had to go to the City Hall building to pay. There was plenty of parking in the back and no line at the cashier. The transaction took about 20 seconds and I was on my way. :) They also had the foyer of the Parks and Recreation building decorated with a big Christmas Village display (many porcelain miniatures). I had to cut through there to get to the city hall building.

Well today I feel like shit. Ma Nature showed up yesterday and is being a bit of a bitch today. And for some reason I feel dizzy like my equilibrium is off. No sympathy from QoH, though. I hope I feel better by tomorrow as she wants to do the weekly grocery shopping "early" like last time. Last time I got up at 9:30am because she said she wanted to leave at 10am. I got up, ate something, and was dressed and ready to go at 10am. Was she also ready to go? Fuck no! I think we didn't leave until after 1pm. I wonder what will happen tomorrow? ;P

Not only did we not leave early (I was up at 9:45am BTW) but she didn't even get out of bed until almost noon. D:

Didn't leave the house until 2:30pm, which somehow I was to blame for that ????? PD logic/refuses to take responsibility for her own behavior. She was nasty the entire time which resulted in me getting a massive headache (which I still have at 7:30pm even though I took ibuprofen an hour and a half ago) and a screaming match in the driveway once we got home, triggered by her calling me a liar because she misheard me say something. Then once inside she had the nerve to say that I should apologize. Yeah, never going to happen.

Yeah, there was a special guest commentator on the morning show on the business channel who I wanted to see so I got to watch that without interruption. :)

I did, but I didn't buy another bag of pecans that QoH wanted so that triggered the butthurt that escalated her nastiness. She already has a new bag of pecans that I bought last time, so it's not like I'm depriving her of anything. The older she gets, the more she acts like a spoiled toddler pitching tantrums, except she's much more venomous and caustic than any toddler. :/

I don't recall. Just news of the day stuff I think.

Do you think you'll get any gigs WRT that?

Nope. QoH has succeeded in burning all bridges regarding work and clients. Her narcissism is so out of control that she cannot get along with anyone, not even to make money. In the world of work, you're not always going to like or see eye to eye on everything with everyone, but you have to have enough maturity to tolerate people you don't like in order to make money. She hates everyone and refuses to go along with clients' wishes, so she gets butthurt and cancels gigs. Now that she's made herself a reputation for being nasty and difficult to work with, no one calls her for gigs anymore. And I get screwed out of work in the process because she treats me like property. If she isn't working, she doesn't want me to, either. So immature.

Now, since the money is running out, it's suddenly all my fault because as she puts it, I "refuse to look for a job". Completely untrue. Any time I ever did job searches she always put all of them down for a number of ridiculous reasons, like being in a particular area of town, assuming that they don't pay enough, I'll be kidnapped raped and murdered, etc.

And also, everything is all my fault because I didn't take a $600 real estate course that the neighbor took over 10 years ago when he was working part time (like once or twice a month) for some guy who did auctions. I don't even think it was for a real estate license, I think it was just a basic knowledge course. I have no idea how I was supposed to do that at the time when I was working odd hours back then and didn't have the time or money for it.

I'm just so tired of all her crazy PD bs.

If you apply for the job, they'll probably tell you what you'll be earning. Low is still better than nothing, right? It's certainly better than being broke (and in debt after a while. Being in debt suuuuuuckksss.).

While you're at it, maybe it's time to get your own bank account in which your future employer can deposit your wages. :)

I know. Not because I ran up debt of my own, but because QoH had me bullshitted into believing that it was my responsibility to "help" her pay off all the debt and mortgage that she had after she and paternal unit got divorced. Like I owed her that. And is she thankful? Fuck no! I worked over 20 years and have nothing of my own to show for it. Now one of her new abuses is to threaten to write me out of her will as revenge for me having the audacity to want to have a life outside of being her slave. /end rant

maybe it's time to get your own bank account in which your future employer can deposit your wages. :)

I tried that before. My mistake was opening the account at the same bank that I already had a joint account with QoH at. I didn't know that they'd include the new account info on the existing account's monthly summary that was mailed to the house. So QoH found out after a month and blew a gasket. How dare I have my own bank account as an adult! If I opened a new account, I'd have to do it at a different bank and it would have to be one that has a low or no minimum balance and no fees. Most of them make you keep over $1,000 in your account or else they charge fees. :/ I'd also have to get a post office box to get my statements sent to, or go paperless. PO box is an added expense and hassle. I really hate having to sneak around with normal things like having a freaking separate bank account. QoH is such a suspicious lunatic that she thinks everything I do has some nefarious intent. :/

That's what I do. I do all my banking on line. I also buy things on line and then pay on line. Easy. And no paper trail. :)

Really?

Yep. Ever since the manufactured "financial crisis" orchestrated by our scumbag politicians in 2008, all the big banks (and smaller regional ones) started requiring high minimum balances and started charging fees for every damned thing. Before that, you could get a free checking account with all the perks from a lot of different banks. I had one like that with Washington Mutual before they got bought by Chase. Chase kinda grandfathered in some of the perks, but then started changing things and sneaking in fees. Used to get unlimited free checks, too, until they changed that at the beginning of this year.

I looked up to see if there were *any* free checking accounts offered and there are only 2 in my area: Ocean Bank and Space Coast Credit Union. If I was 55 years old Ocean Bank offers a good free account, but alas, I have 14 years to go before I can take advantage of that. And both those places have a very few branches, so that's kinda inconvenient.

I do all my banking on line. I also buy things on line and then pay on line. Easy. And no paper trail. :)

If I wanted to do the strictly online thing, I could go with Capital One which offers online checking accounts. I already have a credit card with them that I've had since I was a teenager and they've been a good company to deal with IMO. :)

Yeah, achieving independence is probably the hight of nefariousness to her. ;P

I must say that the ham was effing excellent. It was hickory smoked, fully cooked, and spiral sliced. Totally worth the extra 50 cents/pound. It came with a package of glazing, but I didn't use it as it was made from corn syrup as well as brown sugar and just waaaaay too many calories. I just use a little unfiltered Florida wildflower honey on my slices. :)

Oh noes! Not the home movies! ;P Glad to hear you had a good time. It was boring here except for eating all the food. I watched a shit ton of random YouTubes, kinda went down the rabbit hole with that. ;P

I finished making the banana bread around midnight. It's cooling ATM and smells really good. It would definitely banana. ;P

So how was your Christmas day? QoH got into bitch mode over the fact that I emptied the 10 or so gallons of tap water that she had saved for hurricane season. She either has serious memory issues or is a gaslighter extraordonaire. She originally filled them herself in preparation for hurricanes because she's paranoid about not having water, then about a week ago she wanted to know why *I* had filled them and had them lined up in the utility room. When I told her that she was the one who filled them she called me a liar and everything but a white woman. Then she announced that she did not want them in there. So yesterday I used most of them to fill up the toilet tank in my bathroom a couple times. Might as well put them to use for flushing. So today she demanded to know what happened to all the water jugs. I told her and she threw a fit over that. Can't win with her. She wanted me to get rid of them and when I did she throws a fit because I did what she asked? Fucking mental case.

Then she wanted me to throw away 3 water hoses from out back which I did while she watched me like a hawk. I'm sure in a week or so she'll demand to know what happened to the hoses and accuse me of something. O_o

Other than all that bullshit, it was boring as hell today. Nothing worth a shit on TV and no one on fb to amuse me. I'll be glad when Christmas is finally over. :/

Have you read anything else lately? I've stopped reading novels altogether it seems. There doesn't seem to be anything interesting in the bookshops. Comicbooks I still like.

Seen one you've seen 'em all.

There is a limited amount of variety, I'll agree to that. I stay away from the really corny stuff.

It's intrinsic and doesn't require a good memory. ;P

The last thing I read was Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis a couple weeks ago. An odd source said it had changed their life and I got curious. My former bff had recommended it decades ago, but I guess I have to hear it from a strange place to interest me. Anyhoo, it was just meh IMO, probably because I'm already Christian and it's sorta preaching to the choir and not anything profound to me.

I intend to read some Ray Bradbury and George Orwell, namely Animal Farm for the latter. I found an online archive that has lots of classics. :)

I can be smug in certain circles if I'm well read, especially in regard to classic 20th C. lit. ;P

I checked my email earlier (hadn't done so for a while) and there *was* one particular fanfic updated that I'll actually read. :)

One of my Canadian friend's family. They are very much cerebral narcissists. :/ She, her husband, and eldest child can have quite the condescending attitude towards people who are less educated than they are.

It'll likely be in the high 60's (18 or 19 C) that night, so quite nice. I will be staying inside, though, as there are too many imported 3rd world idiots who like to shoot guns to celebrate. :/

Just documenting what happened: So after I got out of bed today, I went to the bathroom to pee. I could hear QoH moving around downstairs so I shut the bathroom door, but not tightly- just enough for some privacy. Obviously QoH heard me thanks to the creaky wood floors upstairs and about 30 seconds later she comes up the stairs and literally punched the door open nearly hitting my head with it. I was like 'WTF was that for?'. She just stood there angrily glaring at me. I repeatedly asked her 'what's wrong, what's your problem, etc' and she just continued to stand there glaring at me. It was really scary as she's getting so fucking crazy I really don't know what she's capable of doing. So finally she started accusing me of sneaking out in the middle of the night and "spraying the spot next to the stump" where she wants to plant her avocado seedling.

I don't know WTF she's talking about as I went to bed at 12:30am (BTW, she opened my door a little after 1:30am just as I was falling asleep or half conscious, but I distinctly heard her mutter something about "I'll just have to wake you up in the morning". I just laid there as still as possible until she closed my door) and didn't get up until around 11am. I didn't leave my room to go to the bathroom until almost noon.

This delusional shit with her is getting out of hand. She misinterprets problems with her plants like leaves turning yellow or brown for "being deliberately sprayed with Roundup". No one is spraying anything with Roundup. That stuff is a powerful weed killer and if something was actually sprayed with it, it would be completely dead and look like it was burnt up, not just have a couple yellow or brown leaves.

No, the problem is we live in Florida where the climate is hot and humid most of the year and is the perfect climate for molds and fungus to grow which infect a lot of plants. Most plant problems down here are caused by mold or fungal infections. Then there are all sorts of other insects and parasites that cause damage. And lastly, it's "winter" here and we have had a few pretty cold nights which will cause the leaves on certain plants to get burnt from the cold wind and then their leaves will turn brown and fall off.

Of course, QoH refuses to see the logical and rational explanations for what is going on. No, she had deluded herself to believe that I'm spraying her plants with Roundup, even though I do not have any because that shit is expensive, and WTF would I do that anyway? She believes I want to rile her up by killing her plants which is the opposite of what I want. Do you really think I like listening to her bullshit all the time? I certainly do not. /end

Yep, me, democrats, communists, muslims, illegals...not necessarily in that order.

Hey, QoH craziness asside, I was thinking of getting a twitter account. Follow the same peeps I follow on FB, only there's a chance of them responding directly to me on Twitter. Most FB accounts are usually run by an admin, not the person directly. I have many witty responses that get likes from fellow FB followers, but not the actual 'celeb' for lack of a better word. Hey, guess what? It's snowing in Florida! :D We might even get frost down here.

I had taken out some hamburger to defrost in the fridge intending to grill it yesterday, but it rained all day. Today the cold front came through all the way and the wind was gusting to 40 mph. D: I was wondering how I was going to grill in a windstorm but it died down enough to get the grill lit and going. It was still blowing enough that it looked like I was stoking the flames of hell or doing some sort of satanic ritual. D: I even got an ember blown into my eye. :/

Anyway, the burgers came out good. :)

Also, weird thing about being a Floridian- it was cold enough to warrant pj pants and a sweatshirt, but I still wore flip-flops. My hands and face fetch cold but my feet never felt cold.

No, up in Tallahassee. It didn't get cold enough down here. It didn't stop QoH from running the damn heat and cooking me in my bedroom, though. I'd get up and turn it off, then she'd turn it back on after a while. It was 73 degrees in the house which is usually what it is during the summer with the AC running. It was unnecessary to put the heat on. At one point today it was 79 degrees in my bedroom. It was 56 degrees outside today, there was no need to run the heat. QoH is a fucking mental case. How illogical to run the heat when the house is the perfect temperature inside for free.

Maybe you should have worn safety goggles?

South Florida was quite a hostile environment back in the 1500's. It was only about 100 years ago that technology was invented to dredge and fill down here. It was mostly mangroves on the coast and Everglades inland. Miami Beach is completely man made land as well as most of S. Florida. Tallahassee is high ground and quite nice actually. Much closer to the American colonies. Florida was Spanish and then English territory before it became a state.

I took a walk and that's about the most exciting thing that's happened this year. :)

At least you are getting some exercise and fresh air. :)

It was still cold today by Florida standards. I wore my woodland camo BDU pants that Sarge Marge gave me when I went out shopping with QoH. It's crazy that pants designed by the US military make my ass look so good. ;P I also wore my Sebastian the Ibis long-sleeved waffle knit shirt to complete the ensemble. One of my best outfits. :)

Hey, do you ever get a kick out of certain regional accents or sayings? For example, one of the radio shows I listen to, the hostess is originally from California. Whenever she does a TV appearance she's 100% professional and uses standard American English, but on her radio show the California idioms fly freely. It's so funny to me to hear someone who is almost 60 years old call people "dude" and talk almost like a teenager. I guess I like her because I talk that way. It's like glimpsing myself in the future. ;P

Speaking of old people, you're going to be fiddy this month, correct? ;P

I kinda regret not going into the navy after high school. Although with my anxiety the way it was back then I don't think I could have handled it. Thanks for raising me that way, QoH!

Is there really such a thing?

Yes, there is allegedly such a thing. Usually it's the way news readers on TV talk without regional accents or colloquialisms.

You talk like a Californian? Or do Californians talk like teenagers? :)

I think many of them tend to talk like Valley girl teenagers or surfer/stoners. Think of Bill & Ted. ;P There was a meme that I saw a while back that made me LOL and I posted it to FB. A friend from hs commented that she remembered taking part in conversations like that with me. It was a pic of a group of women gossiping and it went like:

"...and then she said 'no way', and I was like 'way' and she was like 'OMG' and I was like 'totally'."

And then there's the heavy use of the word "dude". Californians use dude to refer to males, females, animals, even inanimate objects. I'm not quite that bad, though. ;P

I blame watching too much Bill & Ted, Beavis & Butthead, and my sister for a lot of the way I talk. ;)

Hey, did you ever see a TV show called The Voice of Holland? I dont know if that is a recent show or not, but i saw a YouTube from it recently. There was a singer on there named Dilana Smith who I remember from a show from over 10 years ago called Rockstar:Supernova. She was my favorite singer on there and I wanted her to win, but unfortunately the guys from the band seemed to be set on having another male as the lead singer. Then they never actually did any gigs afterward. I thought Dilana got ripped off. She had the best stage presence and I really liked her raspy voice. It reminded me a little of Janis Joplin.

It's a cotton/polyester blend. Nice and soft. I've bought many shirts from Walmart and none have shrunk yet. :)

I looked at job listings last night. Very depressing. I'm not qualified for most things posted. And then there's the weirdos who want to hire "topless housekeepers". LOL Same as here. Most everything is crap. I don't watch anything on the alphabet networks. Well, they have new X-Files which premiered last week. I was only mildly interested, but not enough to remember the day it was on, so I missed it. I'm not really bothered, though. I kinda lost interest the first time around. The one show I *do* want to see is the Roseanne reboot. IIRC it starts in March. :) It should be interesting since Roseanne seems to have become a pro-Trump libertarian. As far as TV goes, I'm becoming one of those get-off-my-lawn old fogies who watch political shows all day. ;P

Speaking of, had a weird (kinda) experience last night while watching a YouTube of my new favorite radio host giving some sort of speech from a few years ago. She was talking politics and then kinda segued into malignant narcissism and the tactic of name-calling. It was exactly what I needed to hear regarding the kind of bullshit that QoH pulls with me. She said (paraphrasing here) that they do it because they know that you are a good person and it throws you off and makes you question yourself. It's rough to listen to, but it's not true. It's as ridiculous as them calling you a Cocker Spaniel. You wouldn't believe you were actually a Cocker Spaniel if someone called you that, so don't believe any of the things they say about you to make you question yourself. Also she said something about the power of a motivated individual. I'm going to have to go back and watch it again. It was about how it's scary to a narcissist to see you independent and unable to control you, then something about financial security being the key to real freedom. Nothing there that I didn't already know, but it was almost like a sign from the universe telling me all these things that I need to hear right now. :)

Do they have their own area in Florida or something?

Yes, they tend to congregate in their own areas. There are several in the tri-counties area. The last 19 years or so I did gigs mostly with them. They are usually very good to work for. As a female you don't feel unsafe in that community. They are very respectful.

Has your car been fixed BTW? Being able to travel a bit further improves your chances of finding a job.

I never got the front grill fixed that those dogs tore up. It's mostly cosmetic damage. It looks ugly but doesn't affect how the car runs. The main problem is the car is in QoH's name so she can pull shenanigans and then I'm screwed. Not having the car in my name when it was purchased is one of my biggest mistakes/regrets. :/

I was doing some reading on those subjects and ran across a narcissism test. I scored a 14. It said normal healthy levels of narcissism score between 12 and 16, so I'm good right in the middle. Problematic narcissism scores 18 and full blown NPD is 20 and over. Well at least it was only temporary. We were out for 8 days after the hurricane which really sucked.

Well, got a notice from the satellite TV provider that they are going to raise the cost by another $5. So QoH freaked the fuck out and went into full irrational mode and threatened to cancel it immediately. If she would just downgrade we could save about $40 on what we are paying.

Then she accused me of "sulking" and "refusing to get a job". Both accusations are untrue. I do not sulk and I have been searching job listings today. Not much I am qualified for. I might have to apply at Walmart or something. At least they announced that they were raising their starting salary to $11/hour today because of Trump's tax cuts. That's $3 more per hour than the state's minimum wage. It's not great and less than what I'm used to making per hour, but if I could get something full time it would work out to more than I was making before. It evens out.

Yeah, now they've announced that they will be closing a bunch of Sam's Club stores and laying people off.

It depends on how many hours they give you. Usually full-time is 40 hours/week. Over 40 hours you have to be paid time and a half, so that would be $16.50 every hour past 40. Most companies do not want to pay that so they keep all their employees under 40 hours, usually keeping most on part-time status which is under 32 hours IIRC.

Yep, assuming you got 32 hours/week. I've heard people bitching about not getting enough hours there. The thing with part time status is they don't have to guarantee any amount of hours.

Anyhoo, QoH wanted me to mow the yard today, so I did. It didn't really need it since it hadn't rained much in the past couple months. Meh, just made it easier to push the mower.

After that, I fried up some pork chops that I had bought at Sam's Club yesterday. Me too. I've been having a feeling that I should try to get work there for a while now. I *did* work there for 11 years.

I think I will also call another contact and see if he has anything for me. :)

Probably for the best that you told her that, yes. :)

Ya know, when I was a kid I didn't have any fear using the phone. My phone phobia is 100% because of QoH. If she wasn't around, I'd have no problem in that area. In fact, all my hangups are because of QoH's bullshit.

Probably for the best that you told her that, yes. :)

I haven't heard back from her yet. I'm assuming she had the day off today because of MLK Day. I hope I didn't screw up the message. It was one of those ones where it was some sort of automated voice-mail system and you had to push # afterward. I had to fiddle around on my phone for the keypad to push # so I hope I didn't take too long hitting it and it didn't take or something. :/

I think I might apply at a Kosher market that does catering, too. They have an easy online application. I'd just like to hear back from the art center first.

What kind of contact is it BTW?

A guy from another kosher store. If I can't get catering gigs I suppose I could ask him if they need any kitchen help.

Well, I finally got around to fixing the vent screen on the house. I had bought some metal screening and tapcon screws last summer to rig up to the outside of the vent hole, but it's such a pain in the ass project (and having to deal with QoH) that I kept putting it off. I thought today would be a good day to do it since it was cool outside, but the second I got the ladder, drill, and all the other crap out there, there was a passing rain shower that lasted long enough to get everything wet. >:( Pissed me off, but I wanted to get it done so I just had to deal. Well, one less thing for QoH to ride my ass about.

It mway take a while if they don't immediately need someone. You can always call back after 2 weeks or so to check if they haven't forgotten or something. If you can reach them, ask if would like it if you send them your resume. That's one way to make sure they don't forget about you.

Sounds worth looking into.

I've downloaded a copy of their employment application and intend to fill it out and send it in. It's kinda annoying when you leave a message with someone and ask if they could return the call and they don't. IDK if she copped an attitude because of the phone inquiry or if my message got screwed up and didn't record. I don't like the feeling of being disrespected, but I'm not going to get too annoyed about it. I'm going to send the application. *Then* if I don't hear back I'll get annoyed. ;P

What does that do?

It's a little round vent for the attic space. There's one on either side of the house just below the peak of the roof (gable style roof). The mesh screen on the vent in the back seems to have rotted after 60 years and I suspect that critters were using it as an entrance to the house. :/

She didn't blame you for the rain? ;P

No, amazingly enough.

Well, while QoH was outside watering her plants, I snuck into the spare bedroom to get to the file cabinet which contains my tax returns/employment records. I needed the exact dates of employment to be able to do my resume. Hopefully I can get that done soon. Isn't it crazy how I have to sneak around? A normal parent would be happy about me doing a resume and looking for work. QoH just likes being critical and trying to control me for her own agenda. :/

I do hope they send some kind of confirmation. Even if it's just to tell you that they don't need anyone right now. But that still means they've put your application in some file cabinet for future use.

Isn't it crazy how I have to sneak around?

Yes, it's just ridiculous. :/

I'm definitely going to apply to that kosher market. They are going to be opening another location in Boca and are looking for people.

Do you have a lot of practice sneaking around? For what exactly? :)

I've only had to start doing it in the past few years, actually. My first ever proper "sneak" was when I was 29 y/o IIRC and snuck out in the middle of the night like a teenager to go to the Crazy Nut chick's place. QoH couldn't stand the fact that I had a friend and was asserting some independence, so I did it as a long overdue act of rebellion. QoH's bf at the time noticed my car gone (he used to get up super early for work sometimes, like 4:30am or something, and also to watch the pornos that came on at that time on the Movie Channel ;P so I wasn't the only one sneaking around ;P ;P ;P ) and asked me about it the next day. I told him I sneaked out, but I don't think he told QoH.

Lately I have to sneak around just to avoid hearing QoH constantly criticizing everything I do and her crazy accusations, like if I want to drink a beer while watching MMA or have some ice cream. It's ridiculous having to sneak around for normal banal things that every other person can do without a second thought. :/

Whenever I'd go down to the kitchen in the morning, the TV would still be on that channel. I got curious as to what he was watching at that time of the morning and when I checked the program guide I discovered that pornos came on that channel at that time. And then one time he vaguely mentioned something about it, that was after I was already on to him. I'm not as clueless to certain things as QoH can be. ;P

Thank got it never caught him. There's not enough eye bleach in the world. It was traumatizing enough hearing them doing a certain activity through the door (either a bj or a hand job from the sounds and commentary). D:

Behold the magic of Viagara! And I know for a fact that he had Viagara samples from the doctor because eventually QoH got mad at him and had me hide it in the cabinet in my bedroom. D:

They did. :shudders: It's all so traumatizing. D:

You have no idea how lucky you are. I'd love to be able to go through life not having seen and heard such things.

Did I ever tell you that I caught my dad with his dick in the vacuum cleaner hose one time? D: :shudders violently: I don't think I ever touched the vacuum ever again after that.

I'm a bit nervous about the interview. I literally haven't done one since 1995. Not that I lack experience or ability when it comes to catering, I got that down. It's just that the woman asking me in for the interview didn't say anything other than 'can you come in for an interview' and I'm not sure what to expect. I need the work and I'm willing to work in the store, not just do catering, but I don't know how much they are paying. I don't want to waste my time for something low paying when I was making good money before QoH effed things up with her lovely attitude. :/

I'll be sending good vibes to you all sunday. :)

Well, that was mostly a waste of time and money (37 mile drive up there + tolls). They don't need catering staff at that store and were only hiring cooks. The woman at least referred me to a catering place that their company also owns which is in Hollywood. That is much closer to home. Driving to Boca all the time isn't worth the cost of getting there and back. So I guess I'll call them to see if they need anyone. I might have to just apply at Sam's Club or Target. :/

Yeah, that really pissed me off. I specifically said on the online form that I'm a *catering server*. Obviously she didn't bother reading the form and just sent a generic reply.

What was the interview like BTW?

When I got there, all the doors appeared to be locked. There were people inside working setting up refrigerators and shelving and stocking product. I saw one guy forcing open the sliding entry door, so I went there and said, 'Oh, that's how you get in.' He gave me a dirty look and I asked him if Diane was there and then he let me in and pointed to a tall older lady at the front desk area. I walked up and introduced myself and said why I was there and then she handed me an application to fill out. After I took the time to do that, I gave her the application. She looked at it then apologized for wasting my time. She said with my experience I should call this other place and then gave me the name, address, and phone number of the place in Hollywood. She gave me back the application and I thanked her for the other info and then left. I think it took me 5 or 10 minutes to fill out the application and spoke to her less than 2 minutes. Almost an hour and a half driving over 70 miles round trip for basically nothing. :/

Something full-time at Target is sounding better and better. Fuck it. I'm at the point where I don't give a shit if QoH doesn't like it.

It could lead to a job in that Hollywood place so maybe it was not for nothing. Plus every time you apply you learn something about applying. :)

Yeah, I was trying to look on the positive side of things, that at least I now know what info they're asking for on an application and I can be better prepared for next time. I'm not upset about not getting a job that far away. I really hate having to drive that far. Something with a 15 mile radius would be ideal.

Also, it turning out to be a big nothing burger helps with my confidence and the fight against my anxiety. I was having anxiety symptoms all weekend and it was really pissing me off because my body was automatically having that reaction when there wasn't really anything to be anxious over. I was desperately trying to mentally disassociate and calm my body the fuck down. I was able to semi-control it, but fuck me running, having my heart rate up and struggling to bring it down effing sucks. I tried breathing exercises, camomile tea, tension tamer tea, lifting weights, and finally a half shot of Nyquil the night before to get things under control. Amazingly enough, I was fairly calm the day I had to go up there. All of that was because of being raised by hypercritical QoH and my body being conditioned to anticipating some crazy disproportionately negative response from her. :/

How does it feel to be doing something against your impending status as vagrant? :)

Meh, it would definitely be easier if QoH wasn't in the picture, but I'm just going to have to learn to do things regardless of her responses or opinions. It would be nice to have some support instead of someone who is always against anything I try to do.

I only wish I could have learned about PDs years ago. As it is, I'm thankful for the Crazy Scottish Blogger for bringing up the subject. Finally I had a name for QoH's crazy behavior and that it's a thing and not something I was alone in dealing with.

Do companies in the Florida usually give responses to applications or do they just tend to let you hanging?

It seems like they leave you hanging, and it's a problem in general for job seakers, not just in Florida. It's especially infuriating because they expect you to be professional, but don't act professional themselves by having enough courtesy to respond to inquiries.

I *did* get an automated response from the art center, but it said that if you don't hear back from them in 3 or 4 weeks then they've moved on. :/ Aggravating.

BTW, the private investigator part of my personality compelled me to look up the new events manager at the art center. I found her fb page. She looks like she's quite young. I don't know how these people manage to land managerial jobs. They don't seem to be very concerned with returning phone calls. If I actually got rehired there, I suspect that I would find this person to be annoying. At least the old boss wasn't too bad.

I doubt that they're getting *that* many inquiries, especially since it was only listed on their website which you had to dig around on just to find it, and not on one of the big job-postings sites.

Anyway, I'm starting to get desperate enough to call R, the daughter of a guy I used to work for. He "retired" and turned the business over to her. She's kinda a ballbuster and QoH doesn't like her partly because she's teh ghey, but I think I'd have a shot getting rehired by her. She at least knows I'm a good worker and seemed to like me well enough. And I could always play dirty and come in wearing a tank top and snug jeans to show off my well-earned assets. ;P ;D

Yeah, they required Adobe Flash Player. I don't have that on my phone, but my old laptop does. Oh well. The one was the lady bouncing her boobs, I don't recall what the other one was.

The belly dancer is pretty good. She does her routines to various metal songs, so I tend to like that. ;) I'm not a fan of Godsmack which did the song in that particular video, but I liked the way she did the video where you could see her shadow. If you just focus on the shadow it's pretty cool, too.

Just cake., no gifts. I'm okay with that. :)

It's kinda strange the idea that I have actually lived for half a century. Considering that the average lifespanf is about 80 years (I think) That means I have about 30 years of life to live. That's upsetting enough but there's also the quality of life to consider. One tends to become more and more decrepit with time. Although I honestly do not feel old yet.

I made some chocolate pudding from scratch last night. After I cooked it and portioned it out into bowls, I realized that I forgot to add the vanilla extract to it. To my relief, it tasted fine without it. :)

That's part of the reason I'm so fanatical about exercising. QoH has already stolen 41 years from me. Hopefully she'll croak sooner rather than later. I'm already past my prime and I'll need to be as healthy as possible to be able to enjoy what's left of my life.

Although I honestly do not feel old yet.

That's good. :) Hopefully I'll still feel good at 50. ;)

Well, as you know QoH persists with her paranoid delusions. I often wondered if it's possible that she could actually have 3 separate PDs: NPD, OCPD, and PPD (paranoid pd). Now thanks to someone I listen to on the radio, I got some insight into it. It's just part of the NPD. Since narcs think everything is about them, they tend to assign paranoid feelings to things that are actually completely unrelated to them. Like if for example a bird flew over them and shit on them while they were outside, a narc would think that the bird did it *deliberately* to them. In reality, the bird is unaware of the narc's existence and shit because that's what birds do. The narc just had the misfortune of getting hit by the bird shit.

With my mother, everything is perceived as a negative action deliberately against her, even when they are normal parts of nature like leaves turning yellow and brown during winter. She cannot fathom that that it's a natural process with plants. No! Someone *must* be spraying the plants with Roundup to deliberately fuck with her (and she believes that someone is me). I know she's fucking nuts, but the constant accusations are really wearing on me. :/

Yeah, especially since they're 100% delusions. But she holds firm in her assertions that they're true. It's as batshit as accusing me of robbing a bank and then calling me a thief every time she gets pissed off about something. She freaking relentless with that shit.

Ya know, my fb friend from work has proved to be the most helpful and supportive friend besides you so far. At least she messages me and gives me ideas and she also said she'd talk to another former coworker to see if she knows of anyone hiring.

What's disgusting is how QoH badmouths her if her name comes up in conversation. Of course, QoH badmouths everyone. It would be nice if I had a mother who was actually supportive (either "parent" for that matter). :/

Nope. It's a secure building. There's a big fence around the back lot/employee parking/load-in/stage door area and you have to get through the guard gate to get in there. We all had to wear security badges to unlock various doors throughout the facility and there were various levels of security clearance. We had lots of very famous performers, millionaires & billionaires, and politicians coming there, so security was/is pretty tight.

If they actually need someone at the moment then I don't see why they wouldn't choose you. So I think the interview will go fine. :)

If they're as busy as my ex-boss says, then they should just hire me on the spot. They certainly aren't going to find many people with more experience than I have. Certainly not with my work ethic. :) I'm going to kill it in this interview. I want it too badly and I have a habit of getting the things that I really want.

Does QoH have an inkling yet?

I told her shortly after the woman set the appointment with me.

Okay, great. But, if this still doesn't work out the way you hope then, you know, remember that this is still just one of a number of options that you have.

I told her shortly after the woman set the appointment with me.

She didn't throw a fit, so it's as positive as it gets I guess.

I'm very bored today. There isn't shit on the TV on the weekends. I suppose I should go and fix the imitation crab that I bought, but I'm feeling lazy. I also bought a broccoli and a cauliflower which need to be cooked, but I prefer doing that when QoH is out of the kitchen.

Interesting. She didn't say anything? Not a snide comment even? Hm, either she's aware of the necessity of you getting a job or she's looking forward to rubbing it in if you don't get this particular job. :/

There isn't shit on the TV on the weekends.

I guess you could do exercises. Or yoga maybe. What did you do with the crab?

Apparently she was saving it for today. She started in on people that used to work there that she can't stand. I didn't tell her that 3 of them still work there. I'd only be working with one of them if I'm hired since old boss is now in admin and the one lady only works concessions now and not catering. I've learned that it's in my best interests not to tell QoH everything. And she also had to get in her usual anti-gay rhetoric.

That's why Zeus invented the internet. ;P

Indeed. I went down the YouTube rabbit hole. ;P

I guess you could do exercises.

I did some.

What did you do with the crab?

I made a spicy Asian crab salad thing.

Did you find anything interesting?

Yes! There was a young Indian woman who did a really beautiful tribute to Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries who died about 3 weeks ago. It was a version of "Zombie" played on the bagpipes. Very moving. Then there was a rendition of "Blue Monday" by Orkestra Obsolete played on old fashioned instruments. It was really neat. Then a series of videos of random people playing piano in public places. One was of a homeless man somewhere in Florida. He was so skinny and dirty that he looked like he came out of a concentration camp, but he played so beautifully and technically that passers-by were freaking out and giving him money. And then one 2 hour long political/motivational speech by my favorite radio hostess. I found it very inspiring and it was kinda the pep talk I need at this moment.

What made it spicy?

I tossed the "crab" in a dressing made from mayonnaise, sesame oil, cayenne pepper, and hot sauce. I think the original recipe calls for Sriracha, but as I didn't have any I had to improvise. ;P

BTW good luck tomorrow with the interview.:)

Thanks! I will be channeling some fierceness. I intend to slay their little world tomorrow. ;D

It went very well IMO. I totally slayed. ;D I was a little nervous, but no full-on panic attack level nerves. Just mild. I think I did a good job keeping myself calm.

I left an hour early just in case there was traffic, but it only took about 30 minutes to get there, so I had to park in a vacant lot and wait 15 minutes before I proceeded to the security gate.

I pressed the button for security and no one answered for about a minute. Of course, someone pulled up behind me while I waited. I pushed the button again and finally someone answered and I told them what I was there for and they let me in. I parked and went in.

They remodeled the security area which was totally different. It's now like a little lobby with a reception/desk where the guard sits and you have to sign in which I did. I had to wait about 15 or 20 minutes. While I waited, my old boss came out from a side door. I called her name and after a second or so she recognized me and came and gave me a hug. Then she said she'd let Alex (the person I set the appointment with) know I was there. After another couple minutes, a guy who worked there from when I used to work there came by and I called his name and asked if he remembered me. After a second he recognized me and came and gave me a hug and we exchanged pleasantries.

Then finally Alex came to get me and we went through the side door where the offices are and she had me sit down and fill out a thick application. At some point the catering manager came through and Alex introduced me. BTW, I think Alex is like the assistant mgr or something, I didn't get a chance to ask. She was super nice. After I finished filling out all the paperwork, the both of them took me into a conference room and explained the nature of the work which is mostly set-ups, break-downs, and setting up the bars and occasionally helping the waitstaff which is hired by the chef/caterer. I'm pleasantly surprised that I won't have to do waiter stuff. They asked me when I was available and I said 'any time' which seemed to excite them. They have to send my paperwork for a background check which will take a week or two and then hopefully they will be hiring me. I think they will. Everything seemed to have went well and I was getting good vibes. Hopefully my ex-boss and co-worker will put in a good word for me. Now I wait. :)

No. I put down on the application that I was expecting at least $15/hr but didn't get a chance to ask what they were actually paying. Doh! I don't have any idea how many hours I'd get, but from what Alex said about scheduling it seems like they are very busy. If hired, I hope I get a lot of hours.

I wonder if they still give away comp tickets to the employees? They used to give away a few when I last worked there. Alice Cooper is supposed to do a show there next month and I'd kinda like to see it. ;P

It's more than what I made the last time I worked there.

Just rest some and then do the weekly shopping on Friday.

Have you heard from any other companies?

No. Unfortunately, stupid honest-to-a-fault me put down my home phone number on the application for the art center. Ex-boss called today to ask me about the email I had listed (there's an underscore in it, not a dash) and left a message on the answering machine which QoH heard and then proceeded to flip the fuck out on me. QoH hates ex-boss like she hates everone, so I just didn't tell QoH that ex-boss still works there. Figures with my luck she finds out anyway and then I had to be subjected to her abuse and paranoid bullshit. >:(

Seems like a good thing if you misspelled your e-mail address?

I had to be subjected to her abuse and paranoid bullshit.

Which I guess would have happened anyway sooner or later.

Just focus on getting the job and getting paid moneyzzzzz. :)

Yes. I don't expect many places(likely none)are going to pay what I charge when i do house parties. I think it's reasonable for my experience level.

Seems like a good thing if you misspelled your e-mail address?

I didn't misspell it, whoever was reading it doesn't know what an underscore is.

Anyway, QoH had flipped out on me and didn't want me to call ex-boss back with the info. She screamed and berated me and then I managed to get her out of my room which I locked and then called ex-boss with the info. ;D But isn't that effing ridiculous? The paranoid shit that ex-boss somehow wants to sabotage me by asking for a clarification on my email? Ex-boss was nothing but nice to me on the phone. She even called me "bubeleh" which is a Yiddish term of affection.

After I called with the correct info, I almost immediately got an email from the background check people with a form to fill out(which I did, but QoH came and interrupted me halfway through and the secure session almost timed out by the time she left). I got a confirmation right after I sent it, so hopefully it won't take long. Like I said to Alex, it's not like I'm an ax murderer or something. ;P

Oh! BTW, my favorite radio hostess said my name on the radio last night while reading a column she had written for a news outlet. I had to go and re-read said article because I didn't remember seeing my name mentioned. I'll have to listen to the podcast again tonight to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. I think she was ad libbing some smart-ass commentary and likely referring to Zuul from Ghostbusters, but hey, close enough. ;P ;D She *did* confirm that she reads the comments on her fb posts and instagram, so ya never know. ;P ;P ;P

But no, I actually comment on her fb posts using my real name and I just recently signed up for an instagram acct so I could see her pics that she posts. She did twitter before and just a few days ago started an instagram. If I actually management to get a job and earn some moolah, I might join her subscriber thingy. As it is now, I listen by way of bootleg podcasts. The subscription gets you access to all the podcasts and the chat forum. Some of those people are a trip and I would mind interacting with them.

Tammy Bruce.

Well, never in a million years did I think I'd become one of those people who reads for pleasure or reads quickly, but now I'm both. When I was a kid I didn't like reading even though I was very good at it. It took a freaking brain aneurysm and lots of reading on the 'toobehs and then fanfics to make me like reading for the hell of it. Now I've read Fahrenheit 451 today in just a few hours (with breaks in between to do other stuff). :O

Recently I've been on a kick to read significant 20th century works. Not sure what I'll pick next. Having them available to read on the 'toobs is certainly convenient. :)

Why Fahrenheit 451? Did you happen to have it lying around or did something spark an interest in the book?

Are you up to anything interesting m, Arekino-san?

I'm trying to cultivate an interest in politics. I'm trying to get to know my government a bit better. So I'm following every dutch national politicians' twitter account en reading through their wikipedia pages. I'm not sure that counts as interesting though. ;)

the other thing I thought I'd never do is argue with people on the internet

That couldn't have seemed beyond the realm of possibilities? You just didn't like argueing, I suppose?

It was on one of those lists of books that "well read" people should read and then I saw it mentioned again recently and how it was one of those books that used to be on summer reading lists for high school. And I do remember it being on the list of books that we could choose to read for AP English Lit class. Back then, I chose the books I read based on shortness since I didn't like reading back then. ;P

I'm trying to cultivate an interest in politics.

It's nothing but politics all day long in my house. Good luck with your own "many blood sucking creatures". ;P

You just didn't like argueing, I suppose?

Yeah, being non-confrontational is part of my avoidance issues. But one of my biggest triggers is having a stranger make assumptions about my knowledge and intelligence. So that tends to set me off. Then having a bunch of trolls butt into something that doesn't concern them...ya know, it was weird. Normally I'd get a visceral anxiety/panic response in my body (sudden rapid heart rate) to something negative said to me, but this time around I just kinda shrugged it off, called them trolls and said that they seemed triggered. ;P I'm learning not to respond to their stupid opinions but rather point out that attacking me personally says something about them and it isn't good. I see it as personal progress in getting over some of my shyness issues. :)

I haven't watched much of it, just some of the figure skating. I heard that your peoples have been racking up the speed skating medals (like always). ;D I plan to watch the wimminz hockey match tonight between USA and Canada. Canada will likely win as they usually have more depth to their talent pool. And then there was a kerfluffle over the USA goalies' masks because of the statue of liberty and the flag-colored shield. IMO it didn't violate the rules since it was pictures and not "wording or slogans" which was against the rules. And one of the goalies has a pic of Marlene Dietrich on her helmet which I wholeheartedly approve of. :)

Did you hear about the dumb remarks Katie Couric made BTW? :)

No, I did not. But I don't think very much of her as she's an idiot. She's very overpaid and full of self-importance. ::looks up Katie Couric's dumb remarks:: Yep, a real effing idiot, indeed. Well, this American knows that it hasn't been cold enough over there for you lot to skate on canals or the Rijn for a looong time and that you are a modern 1st world country where people get around in cars, trains, boats, and y'alls favorite the bicycle. ;P

IDK, I couldn't find a pic so I think whoever wrote about it may have gotten it wrong. Maybe it was on a mask for a club team. It certainly wasn't on either of the US team's goalies' masks.

Man, that was fast!

Yeah, I was surprised. Of course, I don't have a criminal record, bad credit, or anything to hide, so there isn't anything to find. ;)

You must have impressed the hell out of them at the interview. Of course, it also helps to have an inside man.. eh... woman. :)

Yeah, I'm suspecting ex-boss must have said good things about me. Also from a conversation that I overhead from one of the offices, it seemed like some people had quit, so I'm assuming they need replacements ASAP. My good luck. :) Also I'm sure they likely have trouble finding people who aren't lazy.

What's weird is someone from there called the house phone last night but by the time I answered the phone (I had my hands wet washing dishes) they had hung up. When I called back, I got the after-hours answering service that said the office was closed for the day. Today when I got up and checked my email, there was one from Kirstie saying to call ex-boss since I know her well and to schedule with her to come in to complete the paperwork. So I called ex-boss and set the appointment. :)
