I'm a bad, bad blogger...

...who goes months between posting anything new.  And that's because I don't have anything new going on here.  So instead I'll post some pics of Andrea KGB Lee.  The first is of her and Cowboy Cerrone (who looked phenomenal in his fight on Saturday).  I've liked Cowboy as a fighter since his days with the WEC. That dude has been doing MMA for a loooong damn time!  And I notice that KGB is wearing a Cyborg shirt.  I approve.  ;)  And the second pic is of KGB in those cool Mardi Gras colors harlequin spats.

Fun fact:  KGB used to do waitressing which turns nice young ladies into evil stone cold killers.  I know this from experience.  How many times have I wanted to choke out a customer?  ;P

What did you do to cause yours?

First time was doing a lot of walking for work. Other times was probably too much gaming... :(

Hm, it doesn't seem like such a tough job. What could make you get so annoyed with a customer?

The harlequin pants look pretty neat. Why don't fighters wear like superhero costumes or something? I know it's not the WWF but still, wouldn't it be cool?

It's usually an accumulation of things, but sometimes people can be flat-out jerks deliberately just to mess with you and get their jollies in front of people. Makes them feel powerful to jerk you around because they know you have to be polite no matter what they do and you cannot tell them off or you'll get fired. Those fuckers. Who are very foolish in doing that to the person who is handling their food. :)

harlequin pants

And they also say "all the world is my cage" instead of stage. I kinda liked that pun, too. :)

I think costumes would get in the way, although there are a couple chicks who wear superhero prints like Batman and Wonder Woman.

Okay, had QoH interrupting me earlier, so I didn't explain too well about the other things that make you homicidal from waitressing. Firstly, it is a lot of physical work, especially when you work banquets or catering and you aren't in a hotel setting where they have housemen to do the grunt work. And then everything always has to be rush, rush, rush, which can be stressful. Then there are lazy coworkers, or they just don't show up so you have to work short-staffed and *really* run your ass off to make up for it. Then bosses always cracking the whip on you to work harder and faster and of course, asshole customers who do shit like I described above. There are also the nitpicky fault-finding customers, or the ones who want everything as a special order which is not on the menu which takes you away from serving all your other customers when you have to deal with that nonsense. It's a very stressful job and if you have never done it you don't really understand it. So make sure you are nice to waitresses because they can put special additives in your food if you are not nice. :)

I assume you are talking about masturbation? Well, I've never had a problem with doing that too much. There seems to be a necessity to produce certain liquids (for ejaculation) that puts a sort of natural limitation on the activity. Also, it's easy to lose interest after an orgasm.

Is there something that puts a natural limit on how much a woman masturbates as well, you think? The whole "multiple orgasms" possibility must be difficult to ignore.

It's a very stressful job and if you have never done it you don't really understand it.

I admit, I've never been a waitress. I've been to restaurants though and I've seen how busy things can get. I suppose it doesn't help if the customers get difficult.

they can put special additives in your food if you are not nice.

Ugh. That's kind of a nightmare scenario for me. I mean, if you're a customer who sincerely has a problem with the service then some complaints are justified but the waitress may not agree - at all. :/

Sure, my wrist and tendinitis start acting up because of a repetitive motion at a certain angle. ;P

I don't know about multiple O's. I don't recall ever having more than one, then I have to wait a while before having another go.

That's kind of a nightmare scenario for me.

That's part of the reason I no longer eat out. I've seen too much. From the lack of hygiene and safe handling practices to people deliberately doing stuff to the food. It's much safer to make my own food.

Really? For how long? It usually takes me like a day to "recharge".

I've seen too much.

I probably really shouldn't ask but what have you seen, for example?

It's much safer to make my own food.

Oh, come on, it's not like people are dropping dead coming out of restaurants. :)

We've got a minor heat wave coming up the next few days. Over 30 degrees Celsius temperatures. Yummy.

It depends. If the hormones are raging it could be a half hour. Usually at least an hour. I've done 5 or 6 times in a day if I'm super randy. ;P

It usually takes me like a day to "recharge".

Ugh, that sucks on many levels. :/

what have you seen

The worst thing was a waiter pissed in someone's coffee. I've also seen food transported in unrefrigerated vehicles, raw salads and vegetables prepped in a dirty pot-wash sink, raw chicken being defrosted in a pot-wash sink, raw meat and chicken stored improperly in the cooler where blood could cross-contaminate other food, people cutting themselves and bleeding on clean dishes or in the food, bugs and roaches and rodents shitting on stuff in storage areas where dry goods and dishes/utensils are kept, chefs dropping food on the floor and then picking it up and serving it, just to name a few things.

it's not like people are dropping dead

You won't immediately drop dead from hepatitis but I still don't want it. I don't want food poisoning either. Or herpes or any other diseases from nasty people.

Oh! That reminded me of a coworker told me about watching a cook go into the toilet and take a leak while wearing his gloves, never took them off or washed his hands afterward, and then went back to work handling food. :/

Well, good luck with that heat. Maybe a kiddie pool with some ice cubes would be good for soaking in. ;)

just to name a few things.

I guess I was right. I shouldn't have asked. ;P

I can only dream of such luxuries. ;P

Things will get cooler in a day or so, I'm told. It's times like these I long for winter. Or at least autumn. A teleportation device would be okay as well. Just being able to pop over to a more northern country. Maybe I should look for some friendly alien portals. You never know, the weather might be nice on some Betelgeuse planet.

I wish I could do that, too. The weather here sucks during the summer. And we have some sort of tropical wave/disturbance/potential tropical storm thingy that's supposed to be here for the weekend. Should be mostly a rain event. Shouldn't be good for the old roof. :/

I wouldn't mind a medium strength tropical storm ATM here. It's too damn warm. Grrr! Gimme da rain. :)

Maybe if I brace myself, winter will come? ;P

Sure, but eventually it's going to need to be reroofed. In Florida the most common type of roofing material is asphalt shingles and they only last about 15 to 20 years. The main problem is the roof on my house has a very low pitch and where the upper level meets the lower level is where the problems occur. Every house around here has the same shitty design and everyone has the same problem. If I didn't have QoH getting in the way I could probably solve the problem, but it would require me tearing it down to the wood and fixing it differently. She'd never allow that.

Trust me, you don't want any tropical storms, they're a pain in the ass. It won't be too long before you get cooler weather. At least you get seasons where you live. :)

Around here those are only used on garden sheds. :)

Yes. Although it's not always clear which season we're in. Sometimes winter feels like spring and summer feels like autumn.

Hey, it's raining! Thanks the gods! ;P

How's your weekend going BTW?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of those shingles, but they manage to stay on better in a hurricane than terracotta tiles. :/

I was up on the roof yesterday and today playing with patching stuff. My back and knees are killing me from being in a crouched/stooped position for hours. Ugh. I wish it would start raining. The weather peeps seem to be wrong as usual about it raining all weekend. I'm not complaining about that part, just that if it doesn't rain QoH will expect me to go back up there. :/

There is supposed to be a UFC MMA fight night tonight. I'll be watching that later. :)

Oh, I bet, yes.

Apparently there's a house in Pensacola Beach that is dome shaped and can withstand a hurricane. Building a new home is not option for you though, unfortunately.

Not really, no. Why?

And? Was there any rain? :)

dome shaped

That was a trend back in the late 70's or early 80's IIRC. There's a dome shaped church about 150 meters from my house. And there are a couple dome houses a few miles from here. I don't find them visually appealing. And a new house is not an option. :/

Why?

I was just thinking that I could pester you on Fb. :)

Was there any rain?

It came down for about 20 seconds, just enough to get everything wet. The weather forecast has been completely wrong so far. It has been very cloudy but not much rain. Allegedly it's supposed to get worse in the next couple days but I remain sceptical. ;)

Oh! Nearly forgot. Seems paternal unit has been spreading rumors that I'm not his bio daughter, but the daughter of one of QoH's ex-bf's. Only problem with that is that he was her bf about 10 years before I was born. What an asshole. And he wonders why I don't want to talk to him. :/

Oddly, quite similar to what happened over here. Rain, but not much of it.

Well, from time to time memes which make me think of you come across my news feed and I get the urge to tag you with them but alas, you no do fb. :/

WTF? Why?

Because it seems that personality disordered people have zero ability to be introspective as to the fact that just maybe/perhaps something they are doing is causing negative reactions in others. But since they cannot or will not look at themselves, they must therefore externalize the cause to be something other than themselves. So me not wanting to talk to him cannot possibly be because he acts like a crazy fucktard. No, it *has* to be because I'm not his daughter. Makes so much sense to a mental case like him. And he'll go around and tell that crap to anyone who will listen so he can justify his refusal to help me by claiming I'm not his daughter. Such a motherfucker. Is there any wonder why I don't want to talk to him? Because all conversations eventually devolve into such crazy nonsense, it's just a matter of how many minutes it will take.

Paying for a new roof. He offered to do so before, then he retracts the offer. Then it becomes a game of offering and retracting. He has a history of doing that. He offers to do something and gets your hopes up then goes back on what he offered. It's infuriating to deal with that. I hate being jerked around. With him he just likes to have me jumping through hoops for his amusement. He doesn't treat me like a person, but like an object for amusement. It's always some sort of quid pro quo with him. Except when I do my part he then changes the terms of the deal. It makes me feel like I'm whoring myself to get something. It makes me feel disgusting and I don't want to play that game.

So anyhoo, my abs are starting to look really good since I've been doing abs exercises somewhat consistently. I've added more reps. A few days ago I did 100 regular situps, 200 crunches, 200 obliques (100 each side), 100 of those thingies that soccer players do, and 25 leg raises. Today I did 200 situps, 200 crunches, 100 of the soccer thingies, and 100 obliques. The extra 100 situps got my abs kinda fatigued. Plus I did some of them for time like in the police physical aptitude test. I did 54 in the 2 minutes allotted, which would earn me the highest score for that category. :) If I keep this up, I will have abs almost as good as KGB herself. ;D

It's also a way to jerk my mother around. In his sick mind it doesn't matter how much I get screwed over and hurt as long as QoH cannot benefit even in a small way. It is also about control. Remember the watch episode. He could have just given me the money and let me buy something that I liked, instead he wasted probably double the amount I would have spent on crap that I don't like all because he needs to have control. He's a sick fucker. He jerks me around like that and then thinks I'm going to help him commit real estate and tax fraud on that house he bought. It's all sick beyond even PD logic that he makes all these plans without asking me, and then I tell him no in the clearest and most emphatic way possible, and he *still* plows forward with his crazy schemes and completely disregards my wishes then can't understand why I don't want anything to do with him.

Don't overdo it.

Don't worry, I know when to stop. I didn't do the obliques last night for just that reason. Abs are awesome little muscles. They recover pretty quickly. I think I'm going to try to do them every other day. #goals ;P

So is it still hot over there? It's been cloudy here for almost a week. Not too much rain, though. And it keeps the AC from having to run so much, so lower electric bill. :)

Funny how your electric bill gets lower when it cools down and ours gets higher. ;)

In other news, I may have contracted something called Carpet Beetle Dermatitis. I have these scratch-like marks on my legs. At first I thought it was bed bugs but their biting patterns are different. It looks more like that CPD thing. It's basically an allergic reaction to the hairs of the larva of the Carpet Beetle. Those things apparently crawl all over you when sleep. They like to eat textiles, skin flakes and other dead organic stuff. I think I've found a Carpet Beetle larva on my mattress. I also think I'll be going to a doctor Monday.

Linky link to text for clarification.

:O

So something like cooties? ;P That's nasty! How do you get rid of those? I imagine you'll have to wash all the bedding and give your room a thorough cleaning. Are they as hard to get rid of as bed bugs? We used to never have any exotic critters and creepy crawlies here until the heavy influx of peeps from the Caribbean and central and south America. And all sorts of crap is brought in in container ships. Only like 10% of the cargo gets checked. And a couple weeks ago I found a curly-tail lizard in the back yard. I took care of that problem IYKWIM. I think those things come from the Bahamas.

Anyway, good luck with the doc and the critters. ;)

So something like cooties?

Those are lice, right? No,lice do actually drink your blood. My "wound patterns" are different form the bite patterns of lice or bedbugs, I'd say. Also, my parents don't have any problems, just me.

I do hope the doctor will say it's some insect problem. I mean, an actual disease could be worse.

Are they as hard to get rid of as bed bugs?

Well, the adult beetles can fly so with a bit of luck they'll just fly out of the house.

I took care of that problem IYKWIM.

Are they a pest? I find it hard to imagine Florida without "exotic" creepy crawlies BTW ;P

Did you notice anything from hurricane Hermine?

Blogger Xul said...

Well, I hope it's not some sort of disease. You definitely don't need that. Bugs are bad enough. :/

"exotic"

And by that I mean non-native. They compete with the native species for food and in some cases kill the natives, and most exotics become pests.

hurricane Hermine

In my head I've been calling it Hermione as in Granger from Harry Potter. We already had Gaston which people had made a song for like the one from the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast. ;P

We just had a bit of rain before it became a hurricane and it has been cloudy. I think they are making a bigger deal of it than it was. I call the idiot news people the "puddle patrol" because they are so ridiculous with trying to find any small accumulation of water to report on and call it "flooding".

Anyway, Jorina Baars fights tonight for Lion Fight muay thai. I've been anticipating that for over a month. Hopefully QoH won't decide to go shopping so I miss it. :/

I didn't need to record anything as we didn't go anywhere. QoH was being her nasty self. She wanted me to pull out some plants in the backyard but couldn't leave me to do it in peace. She had to come out and plant her father ass in a chair about 2 feet from me and then sit there and be nasty and micromanage. I couldn't take listening to her shit for long and went back inside after a while. I cooked chili for dinner and then settled in to watch the fights. There were 4 title fights out of 5 or 6 total fights. Jornada started slow but came on strong after the 2nd round and beat the crappie outta that girl. She hit her with a wicked elbow and cut her head open. She also had a cut under the eye and blood coming from her nose and mouth. Looked like she was fighting Freddie Krueger. ;P

Anyway, Jorina won, so she's 41-0 iirc. When I had checked in on Fb just before the fights, even Miss KGB had posted about it saying it was an awesome fight card. :)

Yep. She's your typical tall, long-legged Dutch girl who knees and kicks everyone in the head. ;P

She's 5'11" and around 165 lbs fight weight, which means she likely weighs around 180 when not in the ring. I think she works as a bouncer. The commentators were joking that if anyone needed personal protection or a bodyguard that they could hire her. The funny thing is, she looks like just an average girl office worker when she's in street clothes, and seems to be a very friendly person.

BTW, I helped to get Andrea Lee a spot in a charity calendar. I think she got over 300 votes for her pic. I voted and then shared it on fb. Looks like enough peeps voted for her pic, so she got a spot. I'm happy for her. She's really cool and seems like a genuinely nice person and great with her fans. :)

Oh, almost forgot! QoH is getting nuttier. This morning she woke me up at 6am by opening my door and standing there glaring at me. The light in my face from the hallway woke me up. Startled me, really. I was dead asleep before that. Then she accused me of "walking around out here" which I assume she means the hallway. Well, I was asleep, I wasn't walking anywhere. She was the only one up walking around. Seriously, WTF??? Of course, once I was awakened I had to go pee, then I couldn't fall back asleep because I was so pissed off about being awakened after only being asleep for 4 hours. :/ And I was also concerned because we had some words several hours previously where she vaguely threatened me. I said what are you going to do, strangle me? That's your go-to. Or shoot me or stab me (like she did to that woman when she was married to her first husband). Then she says 'you'll find out'.

If I end up dead it's likely her crazy ass who did it. Just wanted to put it here in writing.

It's amusing to me that she doesn't look at all like someone who is an undefeated muay Thai champion. She has such a baby face and a friendly demeanor. All the other ladies had a hard aura to them, while Jorina is sitting there with her glasses on and smiling sweetly looking like a librarian or something, yet she's the fiercest one there. Lol

Maybe some common genetics at work. I wish I had gotten the tall gene, though. ;P

Is the "coffee shop" thing something that's legal all over your country or just Amsterdam? Personally, I hate the smell of MJ when it's smoked. It makes me very sick. I'm not opposed to any medical benefits it may have, though. Just my opinion, but smoking it couldn't be that great for one's health as all sorts of bad chemicals are released in smoke. I've read that heat needs to be used to release the oils, but there are other ways besides smoking it.

Probably wouldn't hurt.

picture for scale.

Yeah, I took a couple pics without my hand holding them together but you couldn't tell how big they were. This is the second blooming from that same plant. It put out 3 flowers a couple weeks ago. We have all the different orchid plants hanging in baskets from the avocado tree in the back yard. I don't think those are a native Florida variety. QoH bought them from either Walmart or Home Depot's garden department. They have been fairly hearty. Most commercially grown orchids are grown in greenhouses and very pampered and usually don't survive very well outside those conditions. When QoH's ex bf was still living here he had brought home some orchids that had been in a tree that got blown over in hurricane Wilma. Those suckers were likely some variety of wild native Florida ones and they survive anything. And they send out copious amounts of orange flowers every year. :)

AFAIK it's legal in the entire country. But you still need permission from the city counsel for any kind of shop.

And they send out copious amounts of orange flowers every year.

Hm. Sounds pretty. :)

I've just come back from dinner at the Greek restaurant BTW (it's called Irodion, if you want to look it up). We arrived at 7 o'clock, a bit late already for me as I usually eat dinner at around 5 o'clock. Unfortunately we then had to wait for middle nephew, because he had to work till 7, but around 7:40 we finally ordered the food. The food was good as usual. We left at about 10:30.

So is that Greek place a proper restaurant or one of those hokey ones where they encourage you to drink too much ouzo while dancing on top of the table while the waiters smash plates and throw paper napkins all over the place? ;P

I've been to the latter variety for a work Christmas party. The food was mediocre and I didn't care for the ridiculous atmosphere of everyone acting like jackasses. Not really appropriate for a work-event.

So what did you eat?

In other news, the door handle on the back door broke. It had been sticking for a while--didn't want to turn. Now the damn thing won't turn to open the door. And it's that Kwikset brand which is almost impossible to defeat. I couldn't figure out how to get the damn thing off (had to cut the decorative escutcheon off). A regular handle just unscrews from the inside handle, then you take the handle off, then manually push the spindle thing to open it. This one is completely different and the spindle thingy won't budge. I think I'm going to have to take the door off from the hinges to be able to get the spindle out. :/

Now I have to spend money to buy a new handle set because that's what QoH wants even though I have a new handle in reserve. Obviously bought at the same time as the now broken one since it's the same brand and style. :/

I'm sure whatever QoH will choose will be expensive. It really sucks to not be able to use the back door. Kinda claustrophobic feeling. If something happened with the front door we'd be stuck in here since QoH has the place sealed up like a fortress and we have awning style windows that you can't crawl through. :/

Yep. It's a pretty quiet place. The food is always good there.

So what did you eat?

Main course was moussaka.

Okay. So what does she say is wrong with it then? If it's not for replacing this handle then what is it for?

we have awning style windows that you can't crawl through

You mean you can't crawl though the opening, right? If you break one then it's large enough to crawl though?

Sounds like a good restaurant. I like moussaka. I tried cooking some once. Very time consuming but it came out good. :)

She's afraid it will eventually do the same thing as the old one, therefore we have to go spend money on all sorts of other things that we don't need like a new handle for the front door and new deadbolts to replace the ones on the front and back doors that are not broken. :/

Theoretically someone my size could crawl out a ground floor window if it was opened fully and the screen was removed. No way someone QoH's size could get through.

Currently I've been waiting 4 hours for QoH to get ready to go. Now she wants to wait for the yard guys to finish across the street before they leave because she's afraid they will come over here and steal something when we leave. :heavy sigh:

Well, I'm shocked that I only spent $35 for the new doorknob and another $7 for something called a door sweeper. It goes across the bottom of the door to close the gap between the door and the ground. Also bought a bolt cutter and an expensive box of screws ($5!). I think I'm going to return those for a refund. That's just ridiculous and I have tons of damn screws in the house. Now hopefully I can get the door off tomorrow and get everything fixed.

New doorknob successfully installed! Huzzah! And I didn't even have to take it all the way off from the hinges. Got the hinge pins out the started kicking the door off an then the old doorknob unstuck and things worked out for me. :)

Why "hopefully"? Is it heavy?

Why did you buy the bolt cutter?

Well, the 50 year anniversary party that I have not attended is over. I've had most of the day to myself. I feel oddly at rest. :)

Have you ever been alone at home BTW?

Why "hopefully"?

It is heavy, yes, but my main concern was whether or not QoH's ex-boyfriend put security hinges on it when he installed the door. He put that kind on the front door. Those have a small screw on the middle of the inside of the hinge to prevent it from being taken out from the outside. Both the doors open to the outside so the hinge pins are exposed to the outside. Thankfully the back door had the old hinges from the old door, so all I had to do was use a screwdriver and hammer to ease the pins out. :)

Why did you buy the bolt cutter?

Because there is an old boat trailer in the back yard that is chained up through the fence and around the fence post. At some point in the undetermined future she wants me to cut either the lock or chain so we can get rid of the trailer. I said that could be done with a hacksaw (which I have) but I guess to QoH doing it with a bolt cutter sounds sexier or something. :rolls eyes: I didn't buy the biggest and most expensive one, I got a smaller one that was only $16. Hope it does the job. :/

Have you ever been alone at home BTW?

Oh yes, and it was glorious. Mostly when I was younger, say teens through early 30s. Whenever QoH went to visit someone and I refused to go, or when she and the ex-boyfriend would go out shopping or wherever. It was wonderful to have a quiet peaceful house to myself. :)

So how big a crowd attended the party? Was it mostly family or do your parents have friends, too?

You mean sell it? What do you think it's worth?

Not that big of a crowd. It was just family. The ones that are still alive. Mostly my aunts and uncles.

I suppose my parents don't really have friends here. My mother has a female friend who lives in Spain AFAIK. They do have acquaintances but they were not invited.
They used to have friends, I believe, but that was decades ago.

Looks like it's going to be a warm couple of days here BTW. Unusual for September.

I have no idea. It's been sitting back there deteriorating for 30 years. I doubt anyone would buy it. The frame looks okay, but it would need new wheels, tail lights, skids, and rubber bumpers. Maybe someone would buy it for $20. ;P

They used to have friends

I don't think mine ever had friends. Certainly not QoH. And paternal unit only had a couple acquaintances from work that I remember him talking about, but they never hung out outside of work.

a warm couple of days here

I would gladly trade places with you. It was so humid today that I was having trouble breathing when I was outside pulling up bromeliads. :/

Ouch. Over here, it's pretty warm but I can still breath easily. However, I have cracked and finally bought myself a fan for in my bedroom. It's not an actual AC but it will have to do. :)

The only positive thing I can see about such a long summer is that my parents' vegetable garden is still producing lots of vegetables. I guess that's nice. I wish Autumn arrived already though.

I haven't found any new marks on my legs or arms BTW. I circled the existing ones with a black marker to make sure any new marks would be obvious, just to be sure. :)

That is a necessity for me. I've gotten used to the white noise from mine (which also drowns out any other noises) and can't sleep without it, even with ac. :)

Sooo, no more bug marks. That's good news. :)

And which veggies did your parents grow?

Today the nabes across the street had a company over to re-roof their house. Of course QoH got all in a tizzy and wanted me to look up the company on the interwebs and also wanted me to help her find an old contract/estimate from several years ago from another roofing company. That ended in much yelling and anxiety as I refused to tear her messy desk apart while she "supervised". She ended up doing it herself. Anyway, long story short, she wanted me to call paternal unit and try to get money out of him. I called, but after about 15 seconds he started yelling and being irrational and he hung up on me. My parents both suck. :/

Ugh, now paternal unit keeps calling my cell saying "you said you wanted to talk to me about something". :face palm: Um, yeah moron, I asked about money for the roof and you went on a psychotic tirade about how you weren't going to give me any. That's what I wanted to talk about, so why would anything have changed since last night?

Arekino, you can see that this guy is crazy, right? I mean seriously, WTF? Why call back? So we can repeat it again like groundhog day? And then he'll start leaving the "I don't know why you won't talk to me, I never did anything to you" messages. It's amazing how these PD's are so blind to their own bs. SMH

So what do your parents do with all the veggies they grow? Usually it's too much, so do they give away the extras or do they can them or freeze them for later?

Irrational, at the least. Maybe he reacted that way at first, then regretted it and came up with scheme that he now want to use on you?

They freeze them mostly. Sometimes they give some of them to my sister. They don't harvest all the veggies in one go though. They often just pick what they need (and which is ripe).

Oh, I have to eat now. Seeya! :)

He's definitely that. He cannot ever accept responsibility for his actions, then he has to create some scenario to explain the negative outcome. Basically painting himself as the victim. Must be nice to live in a climate where you can grow fresh veggies. It's too humid and tropical here and too many pests to try to have a backyard garden. And the soil is poor. Only fruit trees do okay here.

Okay, enjoy dinner! Laters! ;)

How about a small greenhouse? My sister has one of those in her backyard. It would solve the pest problem but I'm not sure about the humidity. Maybe there are veggies that do will in high humidity environments?

How's work and money these days BTW?

That would probably work as long as a hurricane didn't come along and blow it away. ;P

My mother would never go to the trouble. She thinks trying to grow veggies here is more trouble than its worth.

How's work and money these days BTW?

Ironically enough, a chef we know called today and left a message for QoH to call him back. He probably has something that he doesn't want to be bothered with so he calls us. Hadn't heard from him in almost a year. He's a piece of work. Doesn't throw any work our way but when he's in a pinch he calls and expects you to come running. Smh.

In other news, because QoH is paranoid and assumes a lot of things, she managed to get both her credit cards cancelled on her. The first one because they sent her her new card and she neglected to activate it, and the second I kinda assumed the same thing, but they had sent a letter saying it was because of lack of activity. Then today there was a notice in the mail saying that the credit card that she was using for the SunPass was due to expire this month and to update the info. Of course that turned into an ordeal with her usual selective memories and blaming me for her decisions. Long story short, I called the one credit card company and tried to get them to reactivate the account to no avail, then I had to go to the SunPass website and change the card info to my card since mine is now the only active credit account. >:(

Also had to go grocery shopping for a few things today but didn't complete the mission because QoH had to pee so we had to come home. :rolls eyes: Whatever, at least I get to watch my MMA. :)

And is there anything new and exciting with you? ;)

Better than because of too much activity, I'd say.

change the card info to my card since mine is now the only active credit account.

So everything has to be paid via your CC account? What do you usually use it for? Does QoH get to use your CC now?

And is there anything new and exciting with you?

Just some new comic books. Something to get me through the days. :)

Nothing of course, because QoH seems to have become avoidant in the past couple years. Someone will call and leave a message while QoH stands there and listens, but she won't pick it up to answer or call back. I don't know what her effing problem is. She'll complain about not having work, but when someone calls looking to hire her, she won't answer or return the call. It's very frustrating. And if I was to call back, she'd throw a fit about me "going behind her back" or being "underhanded". It's like she's deliberately sabotaging herself. It's very frustrating to deal with.

Nah, I only needed my credit card to maintain the easy pay account for driving on the turnpike, and since we never travel on it anymore it's unlikely to be getting anything charged to it. And no, she doesn't get to use my card. I only use it to pay for my Internet service.

Well, gotta go. QoH wants to go out shopping again. I guess I'll be missing part of the mma that's on tonight. :/

Anyway, enjoy your comics and I'll see ya later. :)

Yep. And writing checks to send bills in the mail.

I could have phrased that better. It's to raise awareness for peeps with PTSD and how the government doesn't give them proper medical/psych treatment. It's really disgusting how this government treats citizens but will spare no expense for illegals and moose-limb colonists.

I did another 22 today. Supposed to do 22 for 22 days. I guess I'm gonna get really fit. ;P

Too bad it couldn't be sit-ups. I could do those for days. And some idiot made a smart-ass comment to Andrea about "only" 22. She replied that she probably already did 500 that day. Lol Its good to be 27 and in top physical shape. Lol I'm doing good for 40 after already working out with weights. ;P

"Dragon Lady"

That would work. Or Fire Dragon since that's my Chinese zodiac symbol. It used to be "Mrs Lee" when I was in kung-fu. Not going there and using that one for reasons. I kinda liked The Kraken but my last name doesn't start with a K for good alliteration. :/

That's too bad. Once you start, it feels really nice when you start seeing results and you feel good after all the exercise as well.

I wonder how much she eats every day?

I have no idea, but these pro athletes have this stuff down to a science. I know that she is not a fan of fast food. Most fighters supplement with protein powder and stuff like bodybuilders use. Probably lots of calories in that. When cutting weight they eat a lot of broccoli, salad, and skinless chicken breasts.

Good reasons?

Yeah, I'm not married to anyone and don't care to be Mrs Anyone ATM.

Wait, it's not like you're actually going to fight someone, is it?

Nah, I'm too old and I'm sure I wouldn't be paid enough, and besides, all my best moves are illegal for mma. ;P

When I was at my thinnest working at the CC, I used to drink one of those instant breakfast thingies (mix 1 packet of chocolate flavor powder in a glass of milk) in the morning and I ate a lot of soup during the day. I think I weighed a little under 110 pounds then. I average around 120 now and I'm quite trim.

after 19 more days

I wasn't going to wait, but I could do a before and after. My triceps shut the hell up today. I did my push-ups and it seemed a bit easier. Getting stronger already. :)

I just have to find a way to get the lighting right for the pic. The problem is I need the light from overhead and all the rooms with mirrors in this house have the light source elsewhere. :/

Nope. The bathrooms in this house are 1950's construction, so the only mirror is one of those little medicine cabinet ones directly above the sink about face-high (if you are an average size adult). QoH had me put a couple skinny long-ish mirrors on each of the bathroom doors, but the light source is directly above the sink, so if you stand in front of the mirror on the door, the light is behind you. :/

At least you're getting some cooler temperatures. It's still hot and humid here and was threatening to rain earlier, but I think it blew off in another direction. :)

I managed to get the hedge in the back trimmed yesterday. I had been wanting to do all of them for a while but the weather has not been permitting. I would like to trim the ones on the side but I'm not sure if it's going to rain or not today. Not much going on here. There's a UFC MMA from Brazil on tonight. Cyborg is the headliner. I'm planning to watch that if QoH doesn't decide to go shopping. Her plans always override mine. :/ At least they'll replay it again if I miss it.

Also OUAT season 6 premier is tomorrow at 8pm. I'd like to watch that, too. I just hope this season isn't too stupid. I guess I'll mainly be watching for Evil Queen sass. :)

The nabes did not finish the reroofing. They are supposed to put down the tar paper and stuff first and an inspector is supposed to come out to check it before they are allowed to finish. It has been a week and their roof is still only half done, and it has been raining all week. Can't be good for their roof. I don't know how it's not leaking all over the place. Kinda stupid to try to reroof during the rainy season IMO.

I'd say the highlights of the evening were Roy Nelson KO-ing Bigfoot Silva and Cyborg beating the stuffing out of a punching bag called Lina Lansberg. OMG that was brutal. I hope that chick was well compensated. :O I'm not sure I'd get in a cage to fight Cyborg for any amount of money. Is this the last one you think?

No idea. As I've said before, the last episode of season 3 played like a series finale. I learned that the writers didn't know until the last minute that the series was renewed so obviously they thought that was the end. When they got the renewal notice a couple days before the episode aired, they obviously tacked on the cliffhanger bit to lead to season 4. If you watch that episode, it's obvious that that bit was tacked on last minute. Anyway, I have no real idea how stupid this season will be. Already got a preview of the social engineering/brainwashing that will be occurring: on the program description, part of it says, "refugees come to Storybrooke." I *really* hate any kind of politics being embedded in my entertainment shows, especially if it's pc bs. I'm already getting sick of dumb storylines. If it gets any worse I'll quit this show in spite of the EQ having a large role.

covered it with a tarp

Nope. And it has been raining A LOT.

Fighters get paid even if they lose?

Yes, otherwise who would do that for nothing? The winner obviously gets paid more, and if it was a brutal knockout or slick submission, sometimes they get bonus money for that. And the most entertaining fight will get "fight of the night" where both fighters get bonus money.

Oh, BTW QoH said something unintentionally amusing this morning. She tells me when I got up that there was a "dead angora rat" by the front porch. I repeated what she said back to her thinking she had misspoke since I thought she was talking about a cat. No, it's a fuzzy rat, she says. I'm very sceptical because QoH has a very warped perception of reality. I go outside and don't see anything on the porch. I looked around and finally saw it--a dead baby possum. Lol, it's not like she's never seen one before. PD'S and their warped perceptions. Smh, :/

Isn't everyone in Storybrooke already a refugee? Or should they be considered invaders into our world?

And it has been raining A LOT.

Maybe they're building an indoor pool? :)

otherwise who would do that for nothing?

Okay. Good point.

"dead angora rat"

Oddly there are animals called Angora rats but they don't really look like possum babies.

PD'S and their warped perceptions.

Occam's Razor is not one of her mental tools apparently.

I think technically they're kidnap victims as Regina took them there against their will. ;P

Well, the new episode last night was rather boring IMO. I kinda wasn't paying much attention as I had a roast in the oven and had to get up to check it a couple times. I was recording it anyway, so I figured I'd just go and re-watch anything I missed. Now I'm not feeling very motivated to do that. There was a kinda recap show on beforehand with Kitsis and Horowitz doing fan Q&A and, good grief, they come across as such assholes, no wonder the show sucks. They were trying to be clever but it fell flat. Very unlikeable. Maybe this *will* be the final season.

And in other news, QoH wanted me to mow the yard as well as cook something for dinner yesterday so I was trying to get that all done before OUAT came on. Did the lawn in an hour and a half but I gave myself heat exhaustion in the process. Not a good thing. I was sweating like crazy and when I came in to get water I felt like I was going to pass out and also felt kinda nauseous. I had to strip off my soggy shirt, pants, and shoes and socks to cool off, then went up to my bathroom and sat on the floor. Felt sick for a couple minutes but the cool AC blowing on me from the vent got me cooled off pretty quickly as well as the second glass of water. In future I will be drinking some Gator aid beforehand.

I then got the meat prepped (finished defrosting it in the microwave, seasoned, floured, and pan seared) then got it in the oven. Nuked some instant mashed potatoes. Went back outside and hosed off the mower. Let it dry some and brought it in with about 10 minutes to spare before OUAT came on. Because multitasking! :)

Or, possibly, water. :)

... meat... potatoes...

But what about the vegetables? You can't just leave out the veggies. :)

In other news... Well, there is no other news. Oh, wait, my dad has some cardiac arrhythmia problems these days. Maybe caused by the blood thinning medication. Or old age. He had a heart operation about 7 years ago. Maybe the warranty ran out? Anyway, my mother is now constantly worried about my father dropping dead.

cardiac arrhythmia

Hmm, that's not good. Could they give him a pacemaker?

So your mother is a worrier? She could make herself drop dead from that. Not good. What would she do if he died? Is she likely to pine away?

In other news, watched the first debate between Trump and Hildabeast last night. That is an hour and a half of my life that I'll never get back. Both were terrible. She repeated all her talking points and he was obviously winging it. I'm a better debater being 100% unprepared. At least I'm good with comebacks and counter-punches. These things would be better if they had some designated snarky gen-Xers to go at it. Peeps my age know how to throw down, especially those of us who had to take AP Government in school. ;P

They could if necessary but the new medication seems to have had the desired result.

She could make herself drop dead from that.

We try not to make that argument. :)

I actually went outside to day... and came home with a cold. Typical. Anyway, I had to go look for some new shoes for the winter as the soles on my current shoes are wearing a little thin. Also, I bought some 6B pencils and a new eraser. Oh, and a new agenda. For 2017. Because winter is coming. Brace yourself.

Also, why can't it be spring or autumn all year round? It's like the perfect weather.

You need a haz-mat suit for when you go outside. ;P

So did you buy new shoes? Or wasn't there anything to your liking?

Autumn is my favorite time of the year, but unfortunately we don't get a real one in Florida. It doesn't really get less humid until December. :/

In other news, the idiot next door had someone at his house doing some work and they managed to break the main water line that supplies the houses at this end of our block. The water company sent out a bunch of workers. There were 7 trucks out front and 8 workers. They left after an hour or so. The bad news for me was QoH was downstairs preparing to make soup and when she went to fill up a pot with water it was coming out brown and cloudy.

She wanted me to call the water company to complain/inquire if there was a need to boil the water, etc. I told her they were just going to say to run the water until it runs clear, but of course she totally flipped the fuck out and turned it into a tirade/attack/psycho screaming attack on me.

I called the emergency # for the water company and spoke to someone who told me exactly what I told QoH they'd say. That got her even more pissed off and frenzied. IDK what her fucking problem is. She's raring to get into a fight with someone at the water company, yet she wants *me* to do it, and when I don't, she flips out even more, threatening to call the local news station. She gets herself so damn worked up over nothing. Turns a mole hill into Everest, K2, and Denali combined. She was flipping out so bad that I had to leave the house, which got her even *more* worked up because I refused to call some other number she wanted me to call, then calls me "vindictive" and other abusive things. How is refusing to put myself into a no win situation vindictive?

Eventually she called whatever # it was and ranted at someone who once again told her the same thing they told me and what I told her before I spoke to anyone. One thing that always amazes me is she will 100% discount anything I tell her, anything someone else tells me that I relay to her, but if they *directly* tell the very same thing to her, then she goes with it.

So 3 hours of her nonsense (and no soup) which could have been resolved in 15 minutes if she had just let the damn water run until the line cleared. Now she's bitching that she "never gets any cooperation from" me and she's "so sick" and I just won't help her and all I do is lay in front of the TV and enjoy myself. She seems to forget the part where she was flipping out and being abusive toward me which is a ginormous de-motivator for me. If she acted nice and like a normal person I'd have no problem "cooperating" with her. She just can't see that she brings her own problems on herself because of her nasty attitude. But of course, I'm the source of all her problems. SMH. >:(

Something like brown hikers IIRC, yes? I wish I could find another pair of black Merrell mini-mocs. I have such small feet that I got them in the kids section for cheap. :)

I'm sure they would looooove to interview her.

Probably not. She starts out ranting and sounding unhinged. They'd likely dismiss her as some crazy person.

Anyway, I should probably just copy/paste what happened over to the pd forum and see what those folks have to say.

In other news, there is a big hurricane in the Caribbean so QoH is already in panic mode over it and now wants me to do emergency carpentry work on the roof edge. Meanwhile it's rainy and there's thunder and lighting ATM. It's not inevitable that the hurricane will come directly here, but close by over the Bahamas is the likely path. All of her bs gives me such anxiety. And I'll also have to put up hurricane shutters even if it doesn't come here. :/

I suppose so. More like slip-on sneakers. I like them a lot. Lightweight and I don't have to mess with laces. :)

So do you have a difficult time buying shoes?

Nah, I wear a size 6 which is on the smaller end of the ladies' footwear spectrum. 5 and 5.5 are smaller. And boys' size 4 is the same size as a ladies 6, so sometimes I find something I like in a 4 and kids' shoes are sometimes cheaper. :)

You still visit the PD forum then?

Not as much as I used to, but occasionally, yes.

IIRC the weather peeps think it should be near here by Tuesday.

Well, I am completely exhausted. I was outside making repairs for 9 hours. Only got about half of what I need to do done. It's difficult working by myself and I lack one essential tool (sabre saw) which would make things faster. Then I encountered a lot of rotten ends to roof joists, so I had to come up with creative ways to attach new wood. Also working by myself and having to replace long sections of facia boards is a bitch. It's really a 2 person job, but I managed to get it done. I have more to do tomorrow. My back is killing me ATM. :/

Yeah, your house could get destroyed if it's a powerful one. When hurricane Andrew hit south Miami, it literally looked like a nuclear bomb went off. We didn't get the worst of it where I live, but there were trees ripped out everywhere and our power was out for 10 days. Wilma was worse--power out for 15 days and the utility poles were destroyed and had to be replaced, plus some big tree branches fell on part of our fence and smashed it. Cleanup was a pain in the ass. And the very worst part is QoH freaking out and being even more of a pain in the ass than usual when a hurricane might be coming near. :(

So what do you lot use for roofing material? My house is concrete block construction with wood for the roof beams, deck, and upstairs flooring. I guess back in the 50's when this house was built wood was super cheap and plentiful.

Sunday, October 02, 2016 10:49:00 PM
Anonymous arekino said...

So what do you lot use for roofing material?

Well, the top layer is made up of a kind of baked clay tiles in the case of the house that I live in. I suppose they are supported by wooden beams. The outside walls are made up of bricks that are cemented together. The inside walls are made of prefabricated concrete. This house was built in the eighties. It's a pretty standard build.

Tiles would be flying in case of a hurricane, I suspect. :)

at least south Florida is no longer within the Cone of Doom.

As long as your mother is living there, that is not true. ;P

Is it getting windy already? Is there any rain? Flying cows? :)

This bullshit never ends and I'm about to lose my mind.

It's not windy, no rain, it's still a couple days away. I sure as he'll hope we don't get it, it's a big powerful one. If it stays over the Bahamas we'll get maybe 30 or 40mph winds. :/

I still think the worst of it is going to stay over the Bahamas even though they shifted the track a little closer to here. The worst we should get is tropical storm force wind. That doesn't keep QoH from worrying and driving me crazy, though. :/

She had me out back trimming the damn avocado tree. Every time there is a storm threat she wants me to trim some damn tree. She's so paranoid that they'll fall on the house. Those kind of trees don't fall like that. The worst thing that happens is some of the branches get broken off. :/

Needless to say, I'm totally exhausted yet again. :(

You'd be bored out of your mind within a week. ;P

Probably not. It would be blissfully peaceful without QoH there. Plus I could get you to show me around, see some sites or something. And learn some Dutch. :)

At least when the storm hits, you won't be able to go outside. You'll finally get to rest. :)

Well, I've been watching the 3rd season of the Danish/Swedish TV show "The Bridge". It's quite good. Apparently it's the most successful Nordic drama in history. There talking about making a 4th season but I feel like the 3rd one wraps up the story quite nicely.

If the power stays on it's a total win. ;P

It's a bit breezy. ;P But seriously, it has been uneventful so far. There was one squall that came through around 12:30pm, but it only lasted a few minutes. I think it just rained again a few minutes ago, but just a bit.

I've been watching the Weather Channel because they aren't bs-ing around like the local stations. The Cat 4 winds are only in the eye wall, it seems, and the eye is only about 20 miles across. Then there is a big gap, then another ring of high wind. The storm circulation is wide, but the winds don't seem to extend out the whole width. It's a very strange storm. Looks like the peeps from Port St Lucie up to Melbourne are going to get the brunt of it. Then it's supposed to hug the coast up to Charleston and do a u-turn and loop back down to Florida again. That's *real* bullshit right there. :(

I did manage to get some rest. I wanted to watch TUF last night but that came on at 10pm and I was falling asleep before 9. I shut the TV off at 8:50pm and went to bed. Woke up around 5am, checked the weather and looked at fb for a bit, then went back to sleep until 8am or so. :)

There's always a risk that the power might go out, but I highly doubt it at this point. I still have Internet on my phone. :)

Well, I hear it raining and blowing again. Doesn't sound too heavy, though. A bit gusty. All this shit should be outta here by late tonight, hopefully. :)

Not like I'm not wise to it. I was cussing her out the whole time and the neighbors were outside, too, to see the show. ;)

I fucking hate that motherfucking bitch so much I wish she'd hurry up and die already.

Even if it turns around...

One of the regular weather girls let it slip today that when it comes back around it will just be a low pressure. The other assholes didn't bother to say that so they can keep peeps worried. That really pisses me off. Very irresponsible.

She would do it with coworkers (and paternal unit when they were still married), but now it's mainly with service people or people who work in stores. If someone is a conscientious employee or friendly/helpful, she'll take full advantage.

how's the weekend going then?

Got up early, was going to wash the truck, but QoH Just. Couldn't. Stop. Micromanaging. Every. Move. I. Made. So there was an argument and I let her do it her damn self. I went inside and cleaned my bathroom. When QoH came in, I went out to see her superior effort (which turned out to be half-assed) and ended up scrubbing down all the spots she missed. Then I washed "my" car. After that, QoH wanted to go to the store so I showered and we went. Hopefully it's out of her system and I can watch OUAT tomorrow in peace.

So is it nice and cool there yet? Maybe the Poles can send you some of that snow. ;P

Is energy cheap where you live or something? You'd think she's a little more frugal considering you don't have a surplus of money lying around.

I go myself an anti-flu shot today. Hopefully this will prevent any flu symptoms from getting too serious. I get a shot almost every year, I may have mentioned that before. Sometimes I skip it and live to regret it. I hate getting sick. It's a little odd standing in line with a horde of senior citizens, I being the only "young" person there. At least the weather was nice and I got to drive my car again. Coincidentally the person who gave me the shot is the same one I go to for my diabetes check ups.

Allegedly. FPL advertises that they have some of the cheapest rates in the country, but when you run the AC all the time in the summer it isn't so damn cheap. :/ And they use a more expensive "summer blend" as well. IIRC, Florida has 3 or 4 nuke power plants and recently they converted some of the coal ones to natural gas. Now there is a big push by the green lobby for solar which is so fucking ghey because the sun doesn't shine at night or when it's raining like it does here 9 months of the year. Plus the rare earth minerals that are needed for the panels mainly come from China and the way they mine them pollutes the environment so badly that people can't live in the area or they'll die. The only people benefitting from solar are the ones who own the companies getting rich off an inefficient energy source, and there are plenty of idiots who vote for that crap so they can appear righteous with their virtue signalling nonsense.

anti-flu shot

Lol, I can just imagine you standing in line with those oldsters. ;P

I've never had a flu shot myself. I don't intend on getting one, either. Everyone I know who gets one gets deathly ill from the shot. I'll take my chances without one. I rarely get sick anyway. If I do, it's just a cold.

Don't use that argument or you will appear (for lack of a better word) stupid as it's relatively easy to store the energy harvested from sunlight.

when it's raining like it does here 9 months of the year.

Surely not everywhere in Florida at the same time?

the way they mine them pollutes the environment so badly that people can't live in the area or they'll die.

They use those minerals in phones as well. And I'm sure in lots of other very useful appliances.

Everyone I know who gets one gets deathly ill from the shot.

I'm sorry, but the last time I checked the sun does not shine at night. I don't give a damn about inefficient battery storage. I prefer energy sources that run regardless of weather conditions. I'm so damn tired of all the fucking "green energy" nonsense. Most of that bullshit is driven by politicians who have personal investments in these companies and other naive types who fall for such nonsense. Just look for example at the idiots out west who want to fucking dismantle dams and hydro-electric plants "for the environment". Well fuck me running, you don't get any more natural than water and gravity!

maybe your sample size is too small.

5 or 6 people have told me they got sick from it. Simple cost benefit analysis IMO. I hardly ever get sick and my risk of exposure is low. I'll take my chances.

In other news, QoH had me cutting some massive limbs/trunk on the avocado tree today. I had to stop after an hour or so due to rain. I'm going to have to approach it like eating an elephant to be able to finish so I don't injure myself of break the electric chainsaw. :/

Also friend's mom called today with a work proposition. Something about caretaking a 100 y/o lady. The person needs a full-time live-in. If I didn't have QoH to deal with I might consider it, although that situation isn't ideal and there are some concerns. Too bad it isn't for part time 2-4 days/week. I think I'm gonna have to decline. :/

Well, that's a reasonable position. I only care about efficient battery storage.

I agree that that is a stupid thing to do.

Simple cost benefit analysis IMO

I guess for someone like me the benefits outweigh the potential costs. I did not get sick from it BTW.

I think I'm gonna have to decline.

As if you actually had the choice. I assume you haven't told QoH about this work proposition?

I have not called friend's mom back yet. She had left a message on my phone yesterday. It seemed like the first part of it got cut off somehow, but she asked me to call her back after 4pm. I was out cutting on the tree with QoH watching me like a hawk. I excused myself to go inside for a bit to "take a short break" a little after 4pm and returned the call. I only spoke to her for maybe a minute, explained I was in the middle of cutting the tree, and if I could call her back later. She said she was out and wouldn't be back until after 9pm so I asked if it would be okay to call her Friday. She said she'd be home. Seconds later QoH came in the house to see what I was doing so I had ended the call just in time.

I could have called this morning while QoH was still in bed, but that's no guarantee that she's actually asleep. With my luck, the second I called, QoH would be barging in. I'm hoping QoH wants to go grocery shopping today, then I'll have a chance as QoH doesn't actually go in the stores with me.

It's too bad it's for someone so old. I have concerns over dealing with health and age related issues of someone like that. Also I do not want to be a live-in. You are basically working 24/7 in that situation like a slave. I've catered in too many houses where they had live-in help and that is not something I want to get involved in. I want something where I only have to do it a few hours per week. I have my own house to take care of and obligations here. That arrangement isn't workable for me realistically speaking. And no, I didn't tell QoH. That would be pointless. She'd just flip out. I already know what she'd say. I'm avoiding all that drama by saying nothing.

Yep, that was/is my suspicion as well.

The best strategy, I'd say.

I'm hoping QoH wants to go grocery shopping today, then I'll have a chance as QoH doesn't actually go in the stores with me.

Ah, and what happened? Did your plan work out as expected?

Yep, like trading one cage for another except I'd allegedly be getting paid. I don't want that type of job. They really do keep those people like slaves. That's why it's usually someone who is here illegally so the person doesn't have much recourse. I guess for some it seems like a good deal as they live there and don't have to worry about rent, but you aren't compensated very well for having to be there 24/7. :/

and what happened?

We didn't go shopping. QoH waited around all day and then around 6:30pm she wanted me to do some more cutting on the tree. I did for about an hour until it got too dark for me to see. I put away the ladder and stuff, and QoH stayed outside to water her plants. I ended up calling friend's mom a few minutes before 8pm while QoH was still outside and let her know I'd have to decline. She said she figured it wouldn't be a good arrangement for me but decided to ask anyway. I thanked her and told her I appreciated her asking me anyway.

I guess I'm going to have to start looking for catering stuff at hotels around here and hopefully some will have online applications. Like friend's mom said, I'm just going to have to just do it on my own. QoH is being ridiculous and irrational and I'm going to have to overcome her nonsense and look out for myself as what QoH is doing is detrimental to my future. I didn't need her to tell me that as I already know it, but it feels nice to get some validation. I just wish I had other people who could give me actual material support other than just moral support.

It's so damn difficult when QoH has successfully alienated me from any family that I may have had and isolated us from anyone who could have been friends. She wants to live like a hermit. Very secretive. Doesn't want anyone to know her business. Then I have to struggle alone without help or support because she is that way. I fucking hate it. She may be okay hiding herself away with all her fears but I can't live like this. I need friends in the flesh and human contact and support like a normal human being. God, I can't take this shit! :/

I think you've said something like that before. However, you never seem willing to actually do what needs to be done to make some positive changes happen. If you don't learn to ignore QoH's negative opinions and threats then nothing will ever change. But I think you know that already.

Well, have fun watching OUAT :)

OUAT is like a soap opera with fairy tales. I do admit that the pacing seems better this season and they killed off Jekyll and Hyde tonight, so won't have to suffer through a half season of them. :) The "bad news" is that Regina has to die to get rid of the EQ. I'm sure they'll find a way around that. :rolls eyes: It's too bad the EQ has to "die", she's quite fun and I do enjoy her outfits and sass. :)

Anyhoo, I roasted a pork loin earlier and made some couscous to go with it. Very yum. I think I shall make a gingerbread later while the oven is cleared out (we use it to store some assorted pans). I have a container of cream cheese frosting that needs to be used and I think it would go good with gingerbread. :)

Aw, c'moooon, she'd be fun in real life, too! Like she could be a sympathetic ally for me against QoH. Cora was just like QoH except for the magic bit. EQ would have no trouble ridding me of QoH. ;P

A soft, moist loaf cake?

I had planned on making it in a small cake pan, not a loaf pan. But yes, it will be soft and moist and topped with delicious cream cheese frosting. :)

I didn't actually get to make it last night as QoH stayed up too long in the kitchen. I hate trying to do anything with her inches away from me. Too much micromanaging. I don't know when I'll get an opportunity to do it. :/

In other news, I think I'm done with the avocado tree trimming. I got 2 massive pieces of the trunk cut and successfully knocked to the ground without seriously injuring myself or damaging anything. The largest piece I got cut into 2 pieces once it was on the ground so that I'll be able to move it to the eventual pile at the side of the road. Now my back and wrists are killing me as well as all of the bruises up and down my shins from the damn ladder. :/

You have obviously never had any because it is indeed delicious. :)

She really needs a hobby.

She really needs to be locked in a mental hospital. She's completely mental. She had another 10 minute long rant at me complete with name calling over when the last time we had a bulk garbage pickup was. She wants me to trim ALL THE TREES in the yard and have it done in like 5 minutes, completely overlooking the fact that I am only one person (who happens to be a petite woman) and I'm working by myself and it is very strenuous and exhausting work.

Anyway, she gets herself all worked up over that and that I haven't cleaned her room or changed her bed linens in over a year (it hasn't been that long BTW, she exaggerates greatly). I was in the middle of cleaning her room when she wants to stop everything to go put gas in her truck and go mail something. When we come back she starts with the bulk pickup thing, she doesn't remember if we already had one this year (we are allowed 2/year) OMG THE SKY IS FALLING!!! she gets so worked up over nothing. I told her to look on her calendar since she writes EVERYTHING down on it like a diary. Of course, she's too upset to do that, so I had to. Seems we didn't have one this year so she wants to know when wad the last time (which is completely irrelevant to now) so I start to search the 2015 calendar (she never throws anything out, her desk is a hoarded up mess) and then she starts to flip the fuck out over her hoarded up desk and that it's all my fault blah blah blah, name calling, acting psycho, etc. so I went to my room and locked the door which sent her into even more of a frenzy.

After a couple minutes I realized that I should be recording it as evidence of how crazy she is, so I got about 9.5 minutes of her shouting threats and name calling. Jeez. :/

Anyway, after she somewhat calmed the fuck down I finished changing her bed linens. It's now too late in the day for tree trimming and she never called the # for the bulk pickup, so I can't drag all the branches that I already have cut out to the side of the road because technically you can get a fine for doing that without calling to schedule the pickup first. :/

She wastes so much time when she has her tantrums. It's completely counterproductive. It completely demotivates me from wanting to do anything, then she'll blame me that I'm being "difficult". If she'd shut the fuck up and speak to me in a normal tone/nicely, I'd be much more willing to do things around here. But it seems impossible for her to learn that lesson. I guess doing that would somehow be like a loss of control to her and we just can't have that. She has serious issues when it comes to control and always has.

Oh, to answer your question about the ladder, it's not a cheap one. Quite the opposite. It's a heavy duty commercial grade one. And it weighs a freaking ton! I'm a small person and it's difficult for me to handle the thing. It's one of those extension ones that extends like 20 feet or something. My shins get all banged up while trying to maneuver the thing and also from trying to balance on it without falling to my death. :/

How often do you change the bedsheets then? I do it every week now after the whole thing with the marks on my legs (which are mostly gone now BTW :).

Whenever they need changing. I do mine every other month or so. It's not like I'm doing any activities to get them nasty ;P and I shower every night before going to bed. Hers has been a couple months because she has been being difficult. She just won't let me change them without cleaning her whole room first because she's paranoid about "dust mites". :rolls eyes:

Glad to hear that your critters are gone and not bothering you anymore. :)

has your mother checked her blood sugar level lately?

Nope. It only got checked when she went to the doctor and she stopped going there 2 or 3 years ago because they are "fake doctors who work for the government and want to kill old people" according to her. Dealing with her paranoia is the main problem here. Most of the problems I have with her stem from her paranoia. Looking back on how she has acted all my life, it seems she has had irrational fears for a very long time. :/

Perhaps I'm nose blind. I don't notice any smell. And we run the AC year-round so it's always cool inside. I should probably change them more often but it's such a pain in the ass. I have one of those memory foam beds and it's really heavy. Puts my back out trying to wrestle the sheets off and on. :/

I forgot to mention that I was outside yesterday for 6 hours trying to trim the first of 4 black olive trees by the street. Completely exhausting. And it was windy, so of course the wind blew a big branch that I was working on back against the cut and got my saw trapped. Then while trying to separate the pole from the saw, the wing-nut fell to the ground and got lost amongst the leaves and weeds. Then a lady and her 2 kids came along walking home from school and they helped me search. She didn't speak English only Spanish so that was an adventure trying to communicate since my Spanish is really rusty. Didn't find it so I thanked them for the help and they went on their way. I went to get the bow saw from in the house to try to free the electric saw and while I was away the wind blew hard again snapping the branch at the cut and freeing the saw which then dropped over 5 meters to the ground breaking the oil primer bulb. >:(

I did manage to find the wing-nut though. Saw still runs even with the broken oil primer bulb since that is only for lubing the chain. Anyway, then I was faced with having to free that huge branch which was now hung up in other branches. The wind blew it backwards from where I had intended for it to fall. :(

That took me a couple hours to do and I had to climb up into the tree like a monkey to do it. Very dangerous, and I was pissed at QoH for her disregard for my safety.

Needless to say, when I woke up today I was sore all over, no exaggeration. Everything hurts. I look and feel like I went 5 rounds with Jorina Baars. :/ I have big bruises up and down both my legs. My wrists hurt, my forearms, biceps, shoulders, back, shin and calf muscles, quads, ass, and my knee joints hurt. And then QoH wanted me to move all the huge trunk pieces and branches from the avocado tree to the pile today. I managed to do that but could do no more as I'm now physically unable. But QoH got her way, so that's all that counts. She couldn't give a shit how injured I am. :/

Just from sawing off some (big) branches and climbing a tree? You really need to be more careful.

I managed to do that but could do no more as I'm now physically unable.

Well that's what happens when you can't say "No". People take advantage of you. Or is it that you like doing these tasks? Does it make you feel useful?

At least you get some physical training out of it. ;P

And you met some nice people. :)

Well, I can say "no" it's just that she won't take it for an answer. She'll start throwing a fit and getting out of control. It's easier to just do the work than deal with her bs. I guess I'm well trained. :/

I don't like doing all these tasks, but I don't have the money to pay someone to do them, and they are things that I can do even if they're difficult. And they're things that need to be done.

Anyway, another day another problem. Neighbor called this morning about 9:30 or 9:45 to tell us that she saw someone walk up into our yard alongside QoH's truck and go into the carport. QoH woke me up and told me and I went out half asleep to confront the person. Didn't see anyone, but there was a nasty beat-up cell phone plugged into the outlet. I grabbed it and put it in the house and then went over to the nabe's. From there they pointed to the person who was loitering a few houses down. Turned out to be some 14 y/o kid, dumb as a bag of shit and completely shameless and uncomprehending that he did anything wrong, and then stood there and argued with us. Long story short, nabe called the cops who were taking forever to come, I called the cops, then a second time because they were taking so long. They finally got there and put the little shit in the car to turn him over to the school police because technically he was truant. I spoke with the one officer who seemed pretty reasonable (he was from New York) and he said unfortunately they aren't allowed to do anything (government orders) even though he was trespassing and stealing electricity, and if they do arrest them, some liberal judge will let them loose. Then he told me about an incident that happened to him in a courtroom where a defendant tried to wrestle him and take his gun and the stupid judge let the guy bail out. How fucking stupid is that? Someone tries to take a cop's gun, could have killed or injured multiple people, and you let them loose? And the cop said this idiot judge was going to charge him (the cop) with contempt of court. This country is getting more fucked up and lawless each day. :/

Then after all that, QoH insisted we go to Home Depot to buy something to put over the outside outlets to lock them or prevent them from being used. Bought some stuff to rig up, but it was too late after we got back since QoH wanted to go grocery shopping while we were out. :/

Sooooo, anything exciting happening with you? ;P

Technically Florida isn't the entire country. ;P

Yeah, I gave the phone to the policeman. QoH was all pissed off at me for calling the cops. She wanted to smash the phone and then act innocent. I told her that was a bad idea because she could end up with smashed windows later. She argued that the kid wouldn't know she did it. I told her he'd assume that she did and then retaliate. IMO it's better to let the police deal with it because there will be an incident report and if anything should happen later like retaliation, then the police will have a suspect.

Besides, if I catch that idiot in my yard again, I doubt I'll be as reasonable. And *if* I should become unreasonable, the police would believe me because I was so levelheaded the first time around. :)

Anyway, I put covers over the outlets, so unless someone comes with the correct size screwdriver to remove them, the electricity thievery should end.

So are you experiencing a significant cooling over there? We had our first autumn-like day today. As in autumn-like for Florida, not real autumn. ;P I even wore jeans and boots when I went to return some stuff at the store today. :)

...you wouldn't have anything to wear?

Nah, I have a proper parka and Sorel winter boots. I had planned on visiting my friends in Canada years ago and wanted to be prepared. :) I doubt that it would ever get cold enough here to really need them, but I have used them a couple times when the temperature dipped into the 40's (single digits C). ;P

I used to have one that I used when I was a kid. We didn't have central heating back then or any insulation in the house and the jalousy style windows didn't seal completely since they were glass on glass without any rubber gasketing, so it could get pretty damn cold in the house. If it got down to single digits Celsius outside, it was basically the same temperature inside. I shake my head thinking about that and how my parental units didn't see a problem with that. :/ Anyway, the electric blanket worked good and I never got fried. :)

wearing pyjamas

D: I don't like wearing pyjamas. I think it's a Florida thing. ;)

Canada is still out there

Yep. It's not going anywhere. Maybe I'll get to go after QoH croaks. :)

Now it'll cost more compared to back then. I remember calling a travel agency when I was still in hs to see how much a round-trip ticket was and iirc it was like $200. And you didn't need a passport back then, just your ID card. Now it's like almost $140 to get a first time passport. It was less than $50 a few years ago. And dealing with TSA at the airports is a nightmare. I'm sure Canadian customs is still a bitch, too. :/

Maybe. All those POWs that escaped their prisons managed to be creative though. Writing stories does enable some people to live a fairly luxurious, independent lifestyle.

Unfortunately I can't since the OUAT characters are the property of Kitsis & Horowitz and Disney and they'd sue my ass. And it's not the sort of story where I could just change the names and it would still make sense. The story is a spoof of OUAT and only makes sense in that context. I do know of a couple FF authors who published their stories for profit, but they were the sort of stories that were considered "modern/alternative universe" which means that you take the characters and put them in a modern situation yet they maintain their personalities. Those types are easier to make into money making ones because you can just change the character's name. The fairy-tale/show canon doesn't matter. Of course, the 2 that I'm thinking of were well over 100,000 words. I've only done stories that were around 2,000 words and those took quite a lot of effort for me as fiction writing doesn't come as naturally for me as it does for others. :/

you think you're a one-hit-wonder then?

Yeah, cuz I don't intend to write any more and the other 2 I posted weren't very popular. ;)

I'm not sure it comes naturally to anyone. Every writer has years of practice behind them. It's like building up muscle. After a while you can easily lift heavier objects or run for longer.

How the hell is that even possible? How the hell is that even possible?

Well, inside the apples there were some hard slivers of a fibrous material that encases the seeds. Normally I cut it out of the apple but I guess I left some in there last time. At least, that's what I think happened. The type was Elstar BTW.

Okay, the report ;P :

I was too tired when we got back to report back. I think we were out for 4 or 4.5 hours and that is exhausting in itself. Penn Dutch really takes it out of me because I'm HSP and that place is small and confining because the store part is so small and the place is so busy with customers. I almost get claustrophobic, but not exactly. It's the amount of people darting around like crazy people and all the chaos happening that overwhelms my senses. If they had a larger store space it probably wouldn't effect me so badly. Anyway, we bought a smoked picnic ham which I had the butcher slice into steaks for me, and a package of pork chops which I cooked when we got home, so I was extra tired after cooking last night.

From Penn Dutch we went to 5 more stops. I bought quite a lot of veggies from Western Beef which had some good sales on. Final stop was Sam's where since I'm a nice person and on friendly terms with the lady who works at the optometry section in the store, I was able to bypass waiting in the long lines at the regular checkout and go to the optometry area where she did me a favor and rung up the few items I had and paid at her register and I didn't have to wait. I like getting in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. :)

Will you watch scary movies during Halloween?

I watched one called Skeleton Key with Kate Hudson last night. It started out suspenseful and creepy and then got kinda boring, plus I kinda figured out halfway through where it was going. Hopefully they'll play something new that I haven't seen or else I probably watch the original Rocky Horror. I like doing the Time Warp. ;P

Hm, that is annoying, I suppose. I've only been a couple of times to events where there were a lot of people and I actually found the anonymity of such a busy environment rather calming.

It started out suspenseful and creepy and then got kinda boring,

Yeah, I've seen it as well. Not that good.

watch the original Rocky Horror.

Well, that is definitely a classic. There will be no horror movies (rocky or not) on Dutch TV tonight. Oh, well. Youtube it is then.

So what's on the horrific menu today? Anything truly frightening? ;P

I have some leftover fajita chicken. I used the last tortilla today so I was thinking of using the chicken meat for honey garlic chicken and hoping that the seasoning didn't clash too badly with honey and garlic. It could be a horrifying combination. :O ;P

Nope, I follow her FB page to keep up with the soccer schedules and apparently she invited everyone who follows he page. Even if I lived in Orlando I doubt I'd go. It was at some club and I'm not into that sort of thing.

There was absolutely nothing worth watching. Not on TV or Youtube.

Meh, these days movies don't scare me anyway. What about you? Did you watch any scary movies?

About 147,000. She probably only sent out invites to peeps in Florida, but I have no way of knowing that. Even if she did send them out to everyone, it's highly unlikely that they'd all come. Only ones in the Orlando area would be likely to show up, so maybe a couple hundred at most? And I'm sure the club would love all that business.

How many followers do you have BTW?

No idea. I have 20-something friends on there. Don't know how many specifically follow my feed.

There was nothing on to watch here, either. I watched some new show called Stan Against Evil. It was silly like Ash vs Evil Dead. And Rocky Horror didn't come on until midnight so I only watched the first 30 minutes until the "Sweet Transvestite" song because that and "Timewarp" are the 2 best songs IMO and then I shut it off and went to bed.

Movies don't scare me, either, so I don't really care for the horror genre.

But you do like shows that have horror elements in it, like witches, for instance. :)

Anyway, I'm already getting used to the colder weather. I seem to be sleeping better when it's colder. I was born in winter. Maybe that has something to do with it. :)

This Stan Against Evil I found less annoying and repetitive than the Evil Dead series. Some of it was kinda funny. And there's supposed to be 172 different demons, so all different kinds of monster makeup. I might watch it again.

like witches

I don't care for overly gory ones with little plot. Salem got to be over the top gory and IIRC didn't get renewed for a 3rd season. The Witches of East End had some good moments but got silly. I don't know if it got renewed. Don't think so. I never watched the Buffy series but I guess they did something right since it went several seasons.

I like creepy and suspenseful with a good plot, or serials with good stories.

getting used to the colder weather

I wish I could get some of that over here. :/

Well, never a dull moment here. I didn't mention before the lawn mower drama of the past few days. I think I mowed the lawn here on Friday. On Tuesday I went over to the nabes to hide from QoH a while because she was acting crazy and calling me names and accusing me of crazy stuff again. While I was over there nabe mentioned that she was dissatisfied with their lawn guy. She said she paid him $30 (which is the same that her next door neighbor pays IIRC, and that lady has a larger yard with lots of decorative landscaping crap to deal with). I told her I could do it, pay me the $30. She said okay and I went to get my mower to do it. Except the damn thing wouldn't start when I took it over there. Qoh took me to Walmart to buy a new spark plug since the one in there was cruddy and bad. I replaced it but it still wouldn't start. By then it was almost dark so I had to leave it for the next day (Wednesday). So yesterday I tried again to start it and it wouldn't. I called my dad and he brought his mower over so I could do the job. Qoh was pissed that I got him involved. Then she calls nabe on the phone while I'm in the middle of mowing and wants me to come home so she can ask me something. I stop what I'm doing and go and find out she wants to call the lawnmower repair place near us. I looked it up quick on my phone and gave her the number. Then she wants *me* to call. I wouldn't since I was in the middle of a job and she flipped out. I just left and went back to finish. Long story short, my dad offered to pay to get it fixed or buy me a new one. QoH flipped out and refused to let him help me. That is so unreasonable and illogical it defies belief. So today I tried again unsuccessfully to fix it. She called me every name in the book. Lazy, idiot, etc. I told her I'm not a mechanic, there's only so much I can do. Again I called my dad who still offered the same, which QoH refuses, and she forbid me from taking the mower to get repaired. So much drama and screaming and throwing a fit and name calling over something so trivial. She really is nuts. Then she called up someone we used to know from work. He agreed to come by after he finishes work to try to help. Unbelievable. She's really taking advantage because he's a nice guy and kinda naive. :/ Now I'm sitting here waiting for him to show up.

Damn right! That's why I called my dad. I knew he'd help me out by bringing his mower. I didn't want to wait around for either my mower to get fixed or for whenever QoH decided to buy another one. Strike while the iron is hot. And they want it cut every 2 weeks, so if I can get a working mower, that's a little $ every month.

Anyway, I'm dealing with 2 bitches today (and yesterday), QoH and Ma Nature. :/ The first one is making vegetable soup today, so she's in a prissy mood over that (which was her choice to do).

I also have been reading about the Nicola Method in dealing with crazy people like QoH. Someone at the PD forum mentioned it and I was curious and looked it up. I doubt it will work with her, though. :/ It *did* give me a little insight into her method of control, though, which she has been using on me since I was a kid. She basically made me have social anxiety as a means to shame and control me. :/

FINALLY!!! The guy came over today and managed to get it running. Yay! He's still here and QoH is talking his ear off. I think it took him about 10 minutes to get it running but he's been here over 2 hours thank to QoH's incessant talking and he's too nice to just cut it off and leave. :O

Can you break it down for me?

I'll try to remember. It was something along the line of PDs try to manipulate you to change your behavior by making you feel shame. And it's usually things that you shouldn't feel shame for. She gave the example of a pwPD (person with PD) saying, "You're not going to wear *that* are you?" to try to make you feel bad about your appearance because you are wearing something that the PD doesn't like so you'll change it. She said that your appearance is something you shouldn't feel shame over, like intelligence, physical beauty, etc. You should only feel shame for bad behavior or something. Then you were supposed to memorize a phrase that is supposed to get the pwPD to defend their remark. IIRC it was something like "So it seems to me that you feel I should be ashamed for ___."

To me it seems like a load of crap as saying a phrase like that would never work on someone like QoH. She'd just ignore it and continue to rage and name call.

I didn't read too much of this Nicola person's website. Her articles don't get straight to the point and repeating some memorized phrase is not going to work like a magic spell.

I think the better advice is to "drop the rope" and disengage when the PD is raging and out of control. Just don't argue back and leave the room. You can't reason with them, so why try? Limiting contact seems to be the best way to manage pwPDs.

Dunno. You aren't in the cluster B category. Those tend to hurt others with their behavior. Your type's behavior mainly impacts yourself.

In other news, tonight's episode of OUAT had several parts that seemed like they were directly ripped off from fanfics. The part when the EQ was recalling when Snow got a horse as a birthday gift I definitely remember reading in a fanfic, EQ and Rumple having an affair, and then the preview for next week's episode is almost exactly like a story that one of my ff friends wrote about the EQ being trapped on the other side of a mirror. This isn't the first time I've noticed elements that seem directly lifted from ff.

It's possible the writers have read the same FF you've read and were inspired by it. It doesn't sound illegal. Does it improve the show?

It probably falls into some intellectual property gray area. I'm not sure how that works. Ethically speaking and IMO they should give credit to the people who came up with those story ideas.

If they turned the show completely over to some of the more talented ff writers it would. ;P

I was up until 4am watching on TV. It took them for-freakin-ever to call Pennsylvania for Trump. I think it was almost 3am when they did. I only slept maybe 4 hours or so. I think I was awake again by 8:30am. Too excited to sleep and I wanted to see the reactions of the peeps on Varney & Company, what was going on with the stock markets, and to check reactions on fb since I was kinda live tweeting on there last night. If he follows through on his 100 day plan things should start improving on the jobs front. Repealing Obamacare would help tremendously. It's really a jobs killer since the costs keep small businesses from hiring people full time and it is costing people huge chunks of money from their paychecks to pay for it. And hopefully certain laws will be enforced again (like immigration laws). He also wants to put restrictions on peeps in the government taking money from foreign entities and also on getting into lobbying after they are out of office. I think that alone would curb a lot of the corruption in DC. And the tax and regulations plan should bring a lot of companies and manufacturing back here.

And hopefully the tone coming from the White House will be less divisive. The past 8 years have been almost intolerable the way people have been pitted against each other.

I know some people would say Trump's rhetoric is devisive, but if he can show some humility like he did last night and just get down to business then I think the next 4 years can be really good.

I don't think he's good at being humble. And given that he has no practical experience in (inter)national politics it may take a while before he can get down to business.

How do you mean?

There was a collusion between the White House and the MSN over the past 8 years (blatently obvious if you pay attention to the news and confirmed by Wikileaks) to drive a narrative that this country is racist, sexist, homophobic, etc and it had reached intolerable proportions. Also this crap is taught in the schools and universities. I've had to limit my contact with certain millenials because of it. The regular working folks are really sick of being accused of all that when they just want to quietly go about and live their lives.

And we've had Obama openly supporting the criminal activities of the hate group BLM and also jumping to conclusions over the police shootings/incidents without getting all the facts first. The narrative has been that there is this institutional white racism and that cops just go around randomly executing black people. The fact of the matter is that the federal government here actually gives hiring preference to black, hispanic, gays, and women in their hiring. I know this for a fact as I've gotten applications for federal jobs before and they specifically ask if you are any of those things for special consideration. That is discriminatory against white people. People should be hired based on merit, not color, gender, or orientation.

I can tell you that before Obama became president we did not have the same racial tension and political tension that we do now. People need to chill the fuck out and stop letting their emotions run out of control.

I don't think he's good at being humble.

Lol, understatement. ;P

It's such a surreal thing that Trump is going to be the president. I feel like I'm in Bizarro World.

Just an observation: Trump has been a registered Democrat most of his life and he's hardly socially or fiscally conservative, yet there's a large part of the country having an irrational meltdown over him being elected. Smh

it may take a while before he can get down to business.

Even with a Republican hat trick (president, senate, & house of reps) getting the establishment Republicans to do anything is like herding cats. Hopefully he'll surround himself with good advisors. I'm not worried about the practical experience aspect. The bureaucrats basically stay the same regardless of who is in office. We just need the right people chosen to give the orders. How many people who were elected president have had actual experience in international politics? I'd say most of them had to learn on the job. That said, I'm hoping for the best or at least better than what's going on now.

Generally speaking a good idea.

How many people who were elected president have had actual experience in international politics?

Not many. According to this list 7 presidents.

Also, interestingly:

5 Presidents had never been elected to public office before becoming President: Zachary Taylor, Ulysses S. Grant, Herbert Hoover, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and president-elect Donald Trump. However, Trump is the only individual to be elected president without any prior political or military experience.

Trump is essentially a businessman. As far as international politics goes, in case of a crisis his first instinct may be to negotiate and make a deal. That could be a weakness. If you know you're opponent tends to compromise then you're going to be able to hold on to at least part of what you've taken.

As far as national politics goes, I have no idea what he's going to do. Presidents need to keep a lot of people happy to stay in power. He used to be a CEO with absolute power within his companies, he may have to learn that he's not actually the owner of the USA. ;P

It depends on the administration. Technically the VP is the president of the Senate and if he wanted to, he could take that role to actually be the leader there who drives the agenda instead of letting the majority leader have that role. IIRC the last one to do that was Thomas Jefferson.

What do you have in common then?

Seems like we share some views on politics, tastes in music, recreational activities, and cooking. :)

It is not cold at all here. There was a noticeable lack of humidity today. And it was sunny. I was raking leaves out back for a couple hours and hardly broke a sweat. Also dug up some plumosa vines. Nasty pieces of work those things. :/

I had some cake. It tasted kinda funny. It was filled with a pudding with almond taste and it was topped with speculaas crumbs. My sister had made 3 types of oven dish. One had mashed potatoes, red cabbage, pears and rookworst slices. It tasted a bit odd. Probably because of the pears as I think apples are usually used in with red cabbage.
But overall it was okay.

Well the southern US was heavily populated by peeps of Scotch and Irish decent, so that had an influence on traditional southern cuisine. Lots of deep frying. Deep fried Mars bars and pizza in Scotland isn't much of a stretch from deep fried Twinkies and ice cream in Texas. ;D

It tasted kinda funny.

:/ That does not sound like my idea of birthday cake. I like buttercream frosting for birthday cake, not weird pudding and shortbread crumbly thingies. ;P

Your eyes weren't like that from birth on?

Nope. They started going wonky when I was 7 or 8. My optometrist at the time said that it isn't uncommon. It's a genetic thing. QoH tried to blame it on me liking to draw too much. The optometrist shut her down on that which she of course didn't want to hear. She kept pressing him on it and he's like, "Nope! It's 100% genetic." IDK why it took that long for the nearsightedness to show up. Just how it goes. Incidentally, when QoH was seeing the ophthalmologist for her cataract surgery, he told me that he didn't recommend for me to have Lasik surgery because at my age I'd just be trading nearsightedness for farsightedness. The eyes degenerate the other way past 40 y/o. So I'd then need reading glasses. I just can't win. :/ ;P

So are you having a satisfactory amount of cold weather yet? Any snowzezz in your future? It was not hot here today. I could detect a difference in the air. Every morning that I look out of the window I see the sort of clouds that normally snow would fall out of. But no such luck. Maybe it's still too warm up there.

I hope we have lots of cold days for "winter".

I get the impression that your winter is basically our autumn. :)

Just me. Seems I'm a genetic anomaly. :/

Your impression would be the correct one. :)

It's too bad you're not getting the snowzezz. My friend from work who moved to the Minneapolis area is getting snow tonight (she mentioned it on fb). And it's her birthday today, too. Of course, being the Minneapolis area, she'll likely be buried in snow until April. :O

Is that some horrible Minneapolis tradition or something? :O

If we do get snow, I'll take a pic and send it to you so you can enjoy it vicariously. :)

I watched "Batman V Superman" today. I'd seen it on youtube a while ago. It's interesting to watch it again. It's not as bad as some people say it is but I suppose it could be better.

Yeah, they traditionally have horrible winters up there. I know she moved up there to be closer to her son and his family, but their winters are really hellacious. And it has to be even worse for her after living in Florida for 25 years. She's originally from the Pittsburgh area, so bad winters are something she has experienced before, but I don't think they were quite as bad as Minneapolis. D:

Well, I'll be looking forward to that snow pic should you get any. :)

I have not seen any good movies lately. I *did* learn that Salem is back for season 3 after a year hiatus. I thought it was cancelled. This season doesn't seem as stupid as last season.

Yeah, yeah, but do they really bury her until April? Do they then dig her up again? And then what? Is there some ritual involved? Any cannibalism?

after a year hiatus

Hm. I wonder what happened?

Hey, is Florida different during Winter? Do people do different things?

Only if she pisses off the wrong people. You have seen the Fargo series, yes? ;P

Any cannibalism?

IIRC Ed Gein was from up that way. Wisconsin, I think. ;P

Don't know. Season 3 is supposed to be 13 episodes just like the previous 2 seasons. BTW Marilyn Manson now has a recurring guest role. :)

We have the annual migration of the Snow Birds. Those are elderly peeps from "up north" who come here to overwinter. They are an immense nuisance and clog up the roads with their crap driving.

It's also less rainy (the dry season as opposed to the wet season, Florida basically has 2 seasons ;P). I suppose peeps who enjoy outdoor activities do them more often in our "winter" as it is no longer hot and humid. Generally speaking, it's too cold to go to the beach for most native Floridians as we like the water like bath water. ;)

BTW, I can now be known as She Who Teases the Champ and Gets Away With It. And not just got away with it, but got a "like" for the teasing (from KGB). ;D

I hesitate to think of what he wore during winter. Some extra layers of skin to keep warm... :O

He's about a year younger than I am. For some reason I always expect celebrities to be older. Anyway, interesting to hear he still gets work.

Well, She Who Teases the Champ and Gets Away With It, I suppose that is a bit of an achievement. :)

When I was a kid in jr high and high school, he was in a local band called Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. Me and my friends loved their music, but it was only played on WKPX which was a tiny station that broadcast from Piper High School. That station had a very small range in Broward County and I lived in Dade County and occasionally if the conditions were right I could get it once in a blue moon at home. Usually I listened to it in the car if I was with QoH and she went shopping (half my life) and I insisted on staying in the car. Anyway, my friend Alex had gone to Piper High school and knew some kids in a band called Jack Off Jill which got their name from Marilyn. They had wanted to call the band Jack On Jill and he said why don't you call it Jack Off Jill. Lol So that is my little 6 degrees of separation story. ;P

Also he looks very strange to me when he is made up to look like a regular guy. I'm so used to him in his crazy stage makeup.

In other news, I finally colored my hair today so it doesn't look like shit for the gig. IIRC the last time I colored it was in preparation for a gig for the same peeps. :/

Sorry to be a bit late. I had a quick babysitting job to do. Also, I actually forgot it was oldest nephews birthday to day. He was a bit mad.
He did celebrate his birthday like he normally does so there was some confusion the past weeks as how things would be done. I think that's why I and my parents forgot all about it.
Also, I'm having the damn sneezies.

IIRC the last time I colored it was in preparation for a gig for the same peeps.

So, a year ago?

Should be: He did NOT celebrate his birthday like he normally does.

Well, if you had a gig I can't complain about you being late. ;) So how does oldest nephew normally celebrate? He really shouldn't get too upset if he wasn't clear about his plans. Teens. Smh ;P

Sorry to hear that you have the sneezies. Are you sick or is it allergy related?

So, a year ago?

Nah, it was some time in April. I usually don't let it go that long, but since I knew of the upcoming gig, I just decided to wait the extra couple months. It's kind of a pain in the ass to color it. I think I did a better job of it this time around. Didn't seem as difficult. I think it was the way I divided my hair into more sections that made the difference. Also I trimmed my hair a little shorter a couple months ago, so I didn't have to worry about running out of color before I finished.

My oldest and youngest nephews birthdays are really close together so the last couple of years they celebrated their "family-birthday-party" on the same day. This year they birthdays were separated.

Are you sick or is it allergy related?

I don't know. Possibly both.

It's kind of a pain in the ass to color it.

So what color is it now? Hot Pink? Heavenly Blue? :)

Well, I can see where the oldest nephew wouldn't want to have to celebrate with the youngest any more. Teens have different tastes.

So what color is it now?

The name on the box says brown/black. It's my regular color. Although IMO it comes out a little too dark. It does fade with washings, but I don't like how it's almost black initially. I'm thinking of buying the next shade lighter next time I buy some. I still have 4 boxes to use up, though. :/

In other news Her Majesty QoH cannot eat the $.59/pound turkeys that are sold at Publix like the peasants do, so she insisted on going to Delaware Chicken Farm to buy 2 turkey wings which cost $1.99/pound and one half of a turkey breast at $4.99/pound. Altogether it cost $23. I could have gotten a whole one at Publix for $7. And the place was completely insane inside with people crammed in there like sardines and shouting and jockeying for position. They even had several police officers out front directing traffic. D:

Anyway, when we got back home and I took the meat our of the bags to wash and prep it, QoH threw a fit because one of the wings had a bruise on the tip and some blood at the shoulder joint. Which is evidence to her that they were "beaten by Muslims who work at the processing plant and that she paid *all* *that* *money* to *AVOID * that, that's the *whole reason* for buying them up there because they are supposed to be flown in fresh from Pennsylvania!!!" And much drama and berating me ensued. I'll be so glad when this fucking holiday is over. :/

Meh, I kinda like it. The Japanese tend to have really black hair which I think looks rather pretty.

I'll be so glad when this fucking holiday is over.

At least you won't have to spend all of it at home. Tomorrow's the gig, right? You'll get to spend time with some real people. :)

Good luck! :)
