Sunday Fun Day

I don't watch too many serials on TV, but it seems lately that all the ones I like are on Sunday night.  I've been watching OUAT for four seasons now, Salem is in it's second season, I started watching Mad Men last year as well as Halt and Catch Fire, and of course, Game of Thrones(although I don't pay for HBO to see it, so I have to wait for the marathon on free preview).

Unfortunately, OUAT has been getting ridiculous and hopefully if there's a Season 5 it will be the final season.  Salem doesn't seem as interesting to me as last season although I do like the addition of Lucy Lawless to the cast. But the highlight of this past Sunday definitely had to be Mad Men.  The best damn scene was Peggy getting drunk with Roger while he played the organ and she roller skated around the cleaned-out office and also him giving her the Tako To Ama pic from Bert's office.  Also her strutting into her new workspace all gangsta style.  You go girl!  Hang that tentacle porn up in your new office!  LOL

 The pic in question:

Japan: a 200 year history of tentacle porn
I can hardly wait to see what craziness the new season of Halt and Catch Fire will bring. At least I won't have to wait long as the new season starts May 30, IIRC.  :)

Is your sis still working the restaurant job or something else?

Something else. She does cleaning work at a house for mentally challenged kids.

Does he not have school? And you are not required to entertain your mother?

He has 2 weeks vacation from school. I doubt that I could entertain my mother. Although, I guess playing a game of cards is an option.

What will your father be doing? Monitoring the workmen?

Yep.

So, 8 days of this inconvenience? What prompted them to do these renovations?

Yes, about 8 work days. The company that we rent the house from offered the renovations. It's the first time in 30 years and if my parents had not agreed the next offer will be 30 years from now.

BTW, I was curious, do you do that Steam gaming thingy?

Yes, I do. It's were I got Warframe from. It's free to play. But you can also buy games via Steam.

Good to hear you've been having *some* fun. At least Sundays are hard to spoil that way. :)

Might as well go for it I guess.

But you can also buy games via Steam.

Yeah, Her Stoatliness is a big gamer and talks about buying games when they go on sale. She likes those Dead Space ones. I take it those are some sort of first person shooter/zombie blasting games? FF friend was giving away some games from there a while back, too.

Ya know, I really only watch Mad Men as a filler between my other shows. I usually end up messing around on the computer with it on in the background. I usually only half pay attention to it. This past episode, though, struck me kinda funny. The roller skating thing around the empty office was so surreal. And then when she was strutting into the new office with the ciggy hanging out of her mouth and that damn octopus pic. LOL It reminded me of the stories that the 2 sisters that I used to work with told me about how it was to work in NY back in the 60's-80's. Like how everyone had a drink cart full of booze in their office and how you could smoke while you worked. Things seemed more laid back. :)

Yep. Alien monster zombies. :)

Maybe the booze and smokes were for self-medication? To counteract the mind-numbing boredom? I don't get how people can stand working in an office.

and that damn octopus pic

That image seems a bit unrealistic. The artist obviously had very little experience with real octopussies.

Yeah, one of the sisters said it made for a happy workplace. She said that they all used to put liquor in their coffee...until the boss found out. :/

The other sis was a muckety-muck in charge of foreign accounts. She told me her main job was to wine and dine the big account holders, so having drinks and going to parties/the theater/golf outing was part of her job.

I don't get how people can stand working in an office.

You sound like QoH. D:

I've never actually worked in one. I guess if you get absorbed in your work it makes the time go by faster.

The artist obviously had very little experience with real octopussies.

Yes, my main problem with it is how disturbingly unproportional her lady bits are. Pubes look like they go mid abdomen. D:

If you go to the wikipedia page for the pic and then click on the pic to open in a new tab, there is a funny translation of the Japanese text from the pic. ;P

BTW, you are not going to wish me a Happy B-Day today? ;P

Oh, just the usual--arguing with QoH and raking leaves out back. :/

That's just so sad. At least bake yourself a birthday cake or something. :)

Your going to need a lot of candles for that, methinks. ;P

If QoH wasn't present anymore how would you celebrate your birthday?

I'm so glad it's weekend BTW. No more invaders for two days. :)

Probably out at a restaurant celebrating with friends or something like that.

No more invaders for two days. :)

And no getting up at 6am. :)

BTW, I had the strangest really long dream about you(and being in your neck of the woods)last night. Now I don't really remember the details since I had another weird dream just before I got up today. :/

So what do you plan to do this weekend?

Well, the library has two seasons of the show "Continuum" on DVD and I plan to watch those this weekend. I'll most likely play some Warframe. I'll probably take some form of a bath.

And you?

Okay, so you know how I have the ability to lucid dream? I was trying to tell myself to remember the first one to tell you about it since it was really detailed. I only remember a bit of the end of it. The other one, since it happened just before I got up, is the one I remember most from. Apparently I was locked up in a place for the criminally insane(kinda like the one from Sling Blade). I remember verbally messing with one of the guards.

And you?

SSDD. Just putting up with more of QoH's verbal and emotional abuse. It never ends with her and then when I try to defend myself she acts like I'm the one who started shit.

Do you worry that your life might develop in that direction or did you watch a movie with a similar plot?

SSDD

I should watch Dreamcatcher again. :)

How about some advice from Mr. B.L. himself?

Probably doesn't help much, hm? You must a hell of a strong person mentally to be able to withstand your mother's bullshit for so long. What's your secret? :)

Not sure. I lucid dream sometimes so for this particular one I was somewhat conscious that I was dreaming so my fantasies were slipping in a bit. I think I told the guard that I couldn't be that nice if I killed QoH. It's weird to be able to manipulate a dream.

...your life might develop in that direction or did you watch a movie with a similar plot?

IDK, definitely not a movie. I had been thinking about how my life is like being in jail, though.

some advice from Mr. B.L. himself?

Easier said than done. :/

What's your secret? :)

It's all I've ever known so I'm used to it.

BTW, someone called to maybe do a gig a few days ago. QoH just got around to returning the call today. I hope that it happens.

I had been looking up catering positions on the toobs but the only ones listed were for management positions which required a degree and x amount of years managerial experience, ones looking for "eye candy"(which means working for and with assholes), and non catering low wage jobs that require you to be bilingual for a shitty barely-above-minimum-wage job. :/

I really wish QoH hadn't ruined things with previous employers. They might not have been perfect working conditions, but at least I was making money. :/

BTW, where are my B-day pics? ;P

And if I was there or you were here, what would you have planned for my B-day? Just a little hypothetical. ;P

Hey, you certainly qualify for that. :)

Can't be worse than working for QoH, right?

for a shitty barely-above-minimum-wage job.

How does that compare to the amount of money you make presently?

BTW, where are my B-day pics?

The only pics I have so far are not that interesting. Got any special requests?

While I appreciate the complement, and I've certainly tried to keep myself in good shape, alas they are looking for young model-caliber peeps. IDK WTH kind of service they intend to get with those folks, but I guess looks is all that matters to them.

Minimum wage jobs are not worth my time, especially when they are looking for bilingual(which I'm not). Seems everything requires bilingual(even though this is supposed to be the US where we speak ENGLISH). :(

Got any special requests?

Nah, not really.

I have a project to get to today--cleaning the evaporator coils on the AC. I looked up how to do it on the 'toobs and discovered that it is fairly simple and can be done without physically removing the coils from the unit like the AC guy usually does. All I need is a can or 2 of coil cleaner which is $5 or $6 and maybe a soft brush to wipe off the scuzz. I *had* looked in there a while back and there appeared to be dust and mold on one side of the coils. Since it can't get good air flow with it dirty like that, it isn't working properly. Hopefully this will be a success and save me a couple or 3 hundred bucks. :)

Blogger Xul said...

Okay, so I didn't get to the coil cleaning project today, but I *did* manage to fix the main problem. Because I am a natural problem solver and very thorough in my research, I discovered the main problem with the AC: the drain pan was not draining therefore causing the overflow valve thingy to keep switching the AC off. The easy was to clean out the drain line was to take a shop vac and suck it clean from the drain opening outside.

I had to clear a bunch of shrubbery to get to it and then I had to dig out the shop vac from the basement. I also had to dig up enough dirt near the drain to be able to get the vac suction tube to fit up under it.

Since the vac tube was larger than the drain and to get maximum suction, I improvised by taping the vac tube to the drain. I gave it a couple goes and then went inside to see if the drain pan was dry. It was. Then I put some 50/50 bleach and water in the pan and then used the vac to suck it through the line.

I put everything back together and then turned the AC back on. It is now freezing-ass cold in here and everything seems to be draining just fine. Took me about an hour to do what I did and saved myself probably $300. :)

I still have to go to Home Depot to get the coil cleaner(maybe tomorrow--I called there to see if they had it in stock but no one would answer the damn phone in the AC department--always infuriating).

I inspected the coils and they are clean on the top side, but the bottom side is dirty especially on the right side. The left side not so much. By giving it a good cleaning now I will be prolonging the life of the AC and saving myself lots o moolah. :)

Nice job. :)

The upside to being relatively poor is that you often learn to do things that you otherwise would pay someone else to do.

Well, that Continuum series I've watch was not too bad. I read that there are 2 more seasons in to watch. The second season ended in a rather unfortunate way so I do hope the 3rd resolves that.

Thanks! It's very satisfying to know that I fixed the problem. :)

The upside to being relatively poor...

True. My dad is also a cheapskate, so you learn to be creative in getting things.

Continuum

Hmm, I've heard of that but never watched it. I think it might be on one of the sci-fi channels. Maybe I'll check it out. :)

I can hardly wait until Halt ans Catch Fire starts. The new season previews looked really good. :) Mad Men only has 1 ep left and then the series is finished. :(

Well at the moment the bathroom, which normally contains the shower, a sink, the washer, the dryer and the upstairs toilet. They're supposed to renovate the downstairs toilet as well but they're going to do that later on.

I did take some pics. I suppose I can show you when they're done what it looks like.

And are you still staying at sis' house?

Last time I did that was last Friday.

Thursday is the Feast of the Ascension which is a free day in the Netherlands and on Friday most people take a day off to get a long weekend. So that's 4 days that there will be no invaders. Also, no work will be done. We could have had a working shower by Saturday without all those days off. Oh, well. :/

Meanwhile, I've been waiting all damn day for QoH to get dressed to go to Home Depot. Earlier she bitched that we could have been there and back by now as if it was my fault. Erm, last time I checked, bitch, you have to dress yourself. It has nothing to do with me. Such a bitch. Just like it was supposedly my fault that she got bitten by mosquitoes yesterday when I was clearing the drain line. Uhh, I didn't ask her to come out to monitor me, she did that on her own. And she knows that there are mosquitoes, she should have used some repellant spray(her personality alone doesn't seem to repel mosquitoes ;P). If I had complained about that, that's exactly what she would have nastily said to me. :/

I'm using the kitchen sink. It's a little weird being naked in the kitchen at first but it works. :)

If I had complained about that, that's exactly what she would have nastily said to me.

So the version of QoH that lives in your head said it in stead? Sounds like the real QoH doesn't even need to do anything anymore. I'm a little worried that when QoH dies her ghost will still haunt you.

Naked in the kitchen can be hazardous, especially if you are cooking. The last time I cooked anything shirtless the damn grease spit out of the pan and got me in the stomach. :/ That'll teach me to at least wear an apron. ;P

So the version of QoH that lives in your head said it in stead?

No, I've gotten into the habit of giving her a taste of her own medicine. Whenever she complains about something I give her own answers back to her.

She had me so annoyed yesterday with her incessant monologs and rantings and ravings over stupid shit on the 24/7 cable news channels that I finally had enough and locked the door to my bedroom. When she came to barge in with more of her rantings she found that it was locked and proceeded to pound on the door and demand that I open it. I didn't and she flipped out. I wouldn't even verbally respond to her. I thought she was going to try to break it down with all the pounding but I guess she took a hint and gave up. That had to have been after 11pm because I was trying to watch Blood and Chocolate(a werewolf movie)which starred Agnes Bruckner who plays adult Lily in OUAT and Nikki in The Returned.

I'm a little worried that when QoH dies her ghost will still haunt you.

No need to worry. :)

BTW, I finally got the coil cleaner yesterday. And it was just a couple pennies under $5 so I got 2 cans so I'd have some in reserve. :) (I still have to actually do the cleaning eventually. :/)

I'll probably have to wait another year for that or something. Just watch the first 4 episodes. It's pretty good so far. I just love all those story-lines intertwining. And the dialog is pretty clever here and there. Plot twists are a little predictable for me but I can live with that.

Yeah, me too. :) I watched a "behind the scenes" of GOT a month or so ago. They shoot 2 units simultaneously. Like they'll have one set of actors filming at the studio in Ireland and then the other set in (I think)Croatia filming. I think they started shooting in Spain for the season 5 "Dorne" bits. I really like how they shoot in different locations so it really feels like different lands(cuz it is). And they really do a great job with costumes and details.

What about you?

For the next 3 or 4 days I'll be dealing with Ma Nature. :/

I worked out last night and incorporated some soccer-style exercises into it as well as some butt exercises. So of course Ma Nature would show up when my back and leg muscles are already sore from exercising them. >:(

Other than that I'll probably just be staying inside since it's pretty hot here everyday. At least I got the AC working.

I'm literally no expert in these matters but I've always been under the impression that Ma Nature tends to show up around the same monthly period. I suppose you could have timed your exercizes diffrently.

At least I got the AC working.

Yeah, I would not want to live in Florida without one of those. I can hardly stand the heat in this country.

It can be give or take a few days with me. I'm not as clockwork as some and not as irregular as others. One time I was late almost a week and that got me very concerned(for obvious reasons). :/

I suppose you could have timed your exercises differently.

I didn't overdo it that much, so it turned out to be not so bad. I was only cramping in my uterus some this morning. I've been taking my ibuprofen and it's not hurting ATM.

I can hardly stand the heat in this country.

::rolls eyes, shakes head:: ;P

Well, hey, I'm fragile... ;P

Yeah, Anglos and Saxons weren't made for hot climates/weather. ;P

Are you sure it comes off again?

It is perfectly safe and water soluble(just like the stuff lady parts make). It has the consistency of egg whites. You only need like 1 tablespoon flax seeds to 1 cup of water, gently simmer for 20 minutes to reduce the water volume by half, strain and let cool to room temp. I've heard it is also excellent to use as shave lube(for face, underarms, legs, or more sensitive areas ;P).

I'd hate to have my genitalia slip-sliding around in my underwear for the rest of the day. ;P

Since it's water soluble it evaporates eventually, not like something oil based. :)

I really want to try it. The next time I'm in the Latin market around the corner I thing I'm going to buy some flax as they sell it fairly cheap in the bulk beans section. (I'm all hopped up on hormones and having the most indecent thoughts and urges ;P)

It was actually better than the second season, I think.

Yeah, it seems each season is getting progressively better. S4 was really good, and S5 is supposed to be really good, too, from what I've heard. :)

Haven't had any yet. It's not until next month so they'll likely call then.

How will you explain the flax to QoH?

Since she doesn't go in with me when I shop, and I usually get inside the house with the bags of groceries before she gets inside, I can easily hide it in the downstairs fridge(she doesn't go downstairs). It wouldn't be the first time I made a purchase she didn't know about(like apples).

You're in an experimental mood? Interesting. :)

Yep. You are escaping my friskiness. ;P

Anyway, yesterday to escape QoH's incessant ranting, I went out back to rake leaves, but to do a more thorough job of getting the ones under the hedge and around the aloes. So that required me to stoop down and reach under and pull the leaves out by hand. Very tedious work. That only lasted for 1.5 hours until QoH could no longer stand not having an audience and came out to ramble about something. I was just about finished as my back was getting sore and I was getting hot and the Preakness race was about to start and I wanted to watch it. I had accidentally knocked off 2 large leaves of aloe and left them laid across the top of one of the plants when I went back inside. I meant to go back out to retrieve them for experiments, but QoH would not stop hanging around. I need to go out there and retrieve them today. :)

I just might. I have all that aloe back there, it'd be a shame to let it go to waste. ;D

Which got me thinking...aloe is also quite mucilaginous and I have an abundance of it. I looked it up on the 'toobs to see if it was safe for certain things and it checks out as A-OK. So I decided to start with something not too harmful--namely as shave gel for my legs. After QoH went to bed last night I did the 1st experiment. I cut off a small piece from one of the leaves and split it open and rubbed the gel on my leg. It started to evaporate quite quickly so I rubbed more on and shaved it off. It worked pretty good. I did both legs. Then when I went to rinse it off is when I discovered the magic. It seems it evaporated rather quickly when you rub it on directly, but when you put water on it, it gets *really* slick. I just let it remain so and it air-dried after a minute of so. Afterward, my legs were ridiculously soft to the point where I couldn't stop touching them. I think I'm going to try scraping the gel from a whole leaf and using it as a body/face scrub. It did wonders for my legs after just one use. :)

Do you have a cauldron BTW?

No, but we have an 8 quart pot. ;P

You're starting to resemble a witch. Makin' dah potionzz all night long. ;P

Ya know, I used to know a guy who thought that was really awesome about me. ;P

Cool. Looking forward to them. :)

I not usually, it's just that it's part of the Triple Crown and they hype it up. I like to be in the loop on some pop culture things. ;)

And what are you up to? Ready for the invaders to invade someone else' place? ;P

Oh! Forgot to mention that a few weeks ago my FF friend had reposted something on her tumblr about an offer from Kotex. I went to the site and entered my info. As it was a 1st come 1st served kinda thing while supplies last yadda yadda, I didn't expect to get anything as it was reposted like 50,000 times already. Well, today when I went to the mail box, voila! There was a little box from them! I will do a new post showing the goodies I got(things for doing battle with Ma Nature). I'm sure it's not much interest to a dude, but oh well. ;P

So if you use it *between* your legs... you'll be unavailable for comments for a couple of days? ;P

I used to know a guy who thought that was really awesome about me.

My guess is you still know that guy. ;)

I like to be in the loop on some pop culture things.

Which pop culture things?

Ready for the invaders to invade someone else' place?

AFAIK they've left the building for now. We get to bring the washing machine and the dryer back into the bathroom. Slight problem, there's somehow less room there now so we'll have to stack the dryer on top of the washing machine. Also it looks like the washing machine has sprung a leak. We're lookin into it.

I'm sure it's not much interest to a dude

I'm interested in hearing your opinion on the contents of your newfound little box. :)

Pics should be in the gmail soon.

Heh...I wish I had that much time to myself. ;P

That area is overdue for some grooming anyway. I'm interested to see how it'll work as a conditioner of sorts. ;)

My guess is you still know that guy. ;)

No, it was someone I worked with and kinda dated very briefly when I was 21. So you think that's pretty awesome about me, too? Good to know. ;P

Which pop culture things?

Certainly not pop music. Meh, I guess I'm not really that interested in most pop culture. ;)

we'll have to stack the dryer on top of the washing machine.

That doesn't seem so bad. Won't it save space that way?

washing machine has sprung a leak

Maybe it's coming from the drain hose or a loose water hose connection? Probably something got loosened.

I'm interested in hearing your opinion on the contents of your newfound little box. :)

Okay. :)

Firstly, it was a harrowing experience trying to get it into the house without QoH noticing. I took the recycling bin out with the intent of sneaking the goody box back in. QoH was at her desk so she could monitor all my movements. I got it back in but then QoH was watching me like a hawk. I put the bin back in its place but needed to stash the goodies. I then started to do the dishes as a ruse to be in the kitchen and was hoping QoH would go back to what she was supposed to be doing at her desk. I managed to transfer the goodies from the recycle bin to hiding them under some dirty dish towels in the laundry area. Then QoH wanted me to hang out her clean towels outside and some socks as well. I made my move when I came back in from hanging the towels. I had the laundry basket and grabbed the goody box, tossed it in the basket, then piled her socks on top, then went to my bedroom to "sort" before I came back out to hang them up. I managed not to get busted. ;P

Anyway, the marketing/packaging was kinda clever. It came in a little black cardboard box the size of an old VHS tape plastic rental box. It even flips open kinda like one. On one side was written "Are you ready to join the mission?" When you open it there is a cut-out that looks like underpants and on the underside of the lid there is a pic of a bunch of girls holding up protest signs saying "Save The Undies" and then to the side of the pic is some marketing about what a great product Kotex makes. I had selected the panty liner package so I got a sample of 6 different ones. They really do make a good product and they are like twice as expensive as the Walmart generic ones. There's also supposed to be a coupon in there. Haven't opened all of it up yet.

Pics should be in the gmail soon.

Eeeeeeexcellent. ;)

Oh! BTW, on Salem, I'm fairly certain I heard Lucy Lawless' character Countess Marburg call another character "schatje". I thought she was supposed to be German. O_o

Sure, but it's a bit of a hassle getting the dryer on top of the washing machine.

Apparently it was the tube that the drain hose goes into. It's fixed now, I hope.

I managed not to get busted.

Excellent work, agent Xul. :)

"Are you ready to join the mission?"

"What type of underwarrior are you?" :D

I thought she was supposed to be German.

According to the Salem wiki, she is.

P.S. No, no tub here. :/

Between you and your dad, can't you rustle up enough testosterone and brute force to hork it up there? ;P

Figures. Glad you figured it out. :)

Excellent work, agent Xul. :)

Thang-kyu! BTW, the aloe turned out to be most excellent for my other experiments. 5 stars. Much superior to anything else. :D

"What type of underwarrior are you?" :D

LOL

No, no tub here. :/

That's not much of an improvement. >:(

I certainly hope so.

I had my first shower in 2 weeks today. Such a joy. :)

I have to agree. Things have not improved. It just looks slightly prettier.

Much superior to anything else.

What do you usually use?

BTW the renovation nazis have invaded our premises again. This time they've annexed the dowstairs toilet.

2 weeks? Without a shower?!? D:

What do you usually use?

I shall just say that as an after shower moisturizer it is waaaay better than any store bought lotion. Those are always greasy and don't really soften or moisturize the skin. I found that if I rub the aloe all over my skin after I shower and then let it air dry, my skin feels soft for a couple days afterward.

And for other things, the viscosity is superb and eventually dries leaving no greasy mess like coconut oil for example. ;P

I will have to conclude my experiments for now as I lack the funding and necessary equipment/participants for any further experiments. ;P

Oh noes! D:

Unless they intend to install a tub you should kick them out. ;)

Yes. But I did wash myself in the kitchen. (In case you tought I was all dirty and smelly.)

But seriously, going without a shower, a real bath, for two weeks is fairly annoying. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Unless they intend to install a tub...

The downstairs toilet room is quite small. If they install a tub in it people will have to do their number ones and twos under water. And they'd have to take a loooong shower afterwards. ;P

You know, I think I'm going to take a couple more showers during the weekend just to make up for lost shower time. ;P

It's not the same. No, not at all. :(

going without a shower, a real bath, for two weeks is fairly annoying.

What's really annoying is having parents who neglect getting things fixed. When I was younger, we had a leak somewhere in the plumbing. QoH assumed it was coming from the supply pipes so therefore no one could use the shower. Somehow it was determined that the drain pipes didn't leak so the procedure for bathing became 1)fill a 5 gallon bucket up with hot water from the sink and 2)stand in the tub with the bucket and dip water out with a cup and pour it on yourself 3) wash with soap then rinse off with more water dipped out from a cup. I don't recall exactly how long that went on as it was a very long time ago, but I know it was probably for more than a year. I think it was eventually determined(by me as I'm always the one who has to end up fixing things)that the leak was coming from a gap between the tub and the tiles(which some caulk would fix). Ugh. My 'rents are absolutely infuriating. >:(

I think I'm going to take a couple more showers during the weekend just to make up for lost shower time. ;P

Sounds like the only proper thing to do. ;P

BTW, I have been experimenting with baking soda for brushing my teeth for the past 2 weeks. Since I'm an avid tea drinker and it takes its toll with discoloration and those "whitening" tooth pastes don't work and a proper cleaning at the dentist is out of the question, I've been using a bit of baking soda as well as my regular tooth paste when I brush. After the 1st time there was a noticeable improvement on the back of my teeth where the worst of the staining was. Now after nearly 2 weeks almost all of the stains are gone. :)

You would hate to go camping in the wildernis, wouldn't you? ;P

Well, good lucky with it then. Do watch out with that stuff though. It can weaken your enamel apparently.

Do you celebrate pentecoste BTW? I'm not religious but we do get a day off in my country. :)

I have no interest in camping in anything less than a 3 star hotel. ;P (and even hotels are kinda sketchy IMO)

Do you celebrate pentecoste BTW?

Nope. I wasn't even really aware of it until a few years ago.

I'm not religious but we do get a day off in my country. :)

For a country that's supposed to be so secular, you lot sure do have a lot of religious holidays off. ;P

I was wanting to mow the yard today as the weeds are getting kinda high, but it is terribly hot right now. The temp says 89F but the heat index is 95F. O:

I think I'll wait until after 6pm to do it. :/

At least you'll have something to do in the evening. Summer evenings are the best. :)

I forgot to mention that this weekend is a holiday weekend as well since tomorrow is Memorial Day and most peeps who work have the day off. I will be cooking some ribs. And I bought a nice watermelon. :)

Weeds? High? Hm... ;P

They are not those Amsterdam style weeds. ;P If they were, the local hood rats wouldn't let them get very tall before they would be stolen.

Summer evenings are the best. :)

Maybe where you're at. It took me an hour to get 90% of the yard done, but by that time I was starting to feel very lightheaded even though it was partly cloudy and the sun wasn't blazing at that time of day. It's still hot and hard work. I was struggling to get the mower back inside the fenced area outback of the kitchen. I had to sit down for a few minutes in one of the patio chairs. I got the mower where I wanted it and then came inside to get out of my clothes since I was overheated. I was so overheated in fact, that I barely got out of them before I had to just sit on the floor in the bathroom. I had managed to snag a glass of Gatorade beforehand so I just sat on the floor with sweat dripping down my body and sipping my Gatorade. Anyway, I was too tired to finish the mowing so I called it a night and settled in to watch some MMA. I eventually went back out to hose off the mower and brought it back inside.

Speaking of MMA, there was an excellent Lion Fight Muay Thai program on Friday. I got to see Tiffany Van Soest get her belt back. :) She sliced that chick's face up(it was nasty!)and then won by TKO. :) And the Jo Nattawut fight was really great, too. He kicked that dude in the head and nearly knocked him out in the 1st round and then after the 8 count he kicked him in the face. :D I was shocked that the ref didn't stop the fight and that it actually went the full 5 rounds. Lion Fights was much better than the UFC prelims last night.

How are your other hobbys going BTW? The FF writing? The chess playing? The drawing?

I haven't been doing any of that. QoH just sucks the life and creativity out of me. :( But I *did* have another 'favorite' and 'follow' on Hard At Work when I logged into my mail to check if any of the stories that I'm following had an update. It's still kinda an odd feeling to have people liking that story after all these months--that such a short story still has legs. :)

Geesh, I haven't had ribs in ages. Last time was at some restaurant. They did taste really good though.

Another fan! You know your fans will expect more excellent penmanship from you? :)

I had a somewhat quiet day today. My parents were mostly out buying stuff for the bathroom. We also tried to install a lamp but that didn't work out exacly as we hoped. It needs to fit snugly to the wall so no condensation water can get in but for some reason the damn thing won't do that.

Say, when was the last time you took a short walk around the block?

I just got finished cooking mine. QoH actually said that they were "perfect" so I'm fairly shocked at the compliment. They were very good. I'm having my second helping ATM. They are some of my best. :)

I also made a side of red potatoes seasoned with butter and chives and some corn. :) (I don't think I'll have room for the watermelon ;P)

You know your fans will expect more excellent penmanship from you? :)

Hmm, I don't know if I'll get inspired to write another short one or not. :/

Can you get some sort of rubber gasket for it?

when was the last time you took a short walk around the block?

Probably when we had the dogs, so several years? This neighborhood is too dangerous for casual walks without a chompy dog by my side. :/

That is exactly what I suggested. My father thinks maybe some of the wiring is too stiff and wants to replace them. I guess we'll see.

This neighborhood is too dangerous for casual walks without a chompy dog by my side.

That is such a shame. It's scandalous really. So nobody walks around in your neighbourhood unless they´re aquipped with dog or planning to rob/molest?

You really need to move to a small town or something. Wouldn't QoH want to move to a safer place?

Unless the plastic coating around the wiring is getting brittle, I'd just leave it as-is. I think the gasket would be the best bet. You could tell him you got that on good advice. ;P

It's scandalous really.

Yes, it is. I'm starting to hate living in this country.

So nobody walks around in your neighbourhood unless they´re aquipped with dog or planning to rob/molest?

No. Most peeps drive their car to do anything. The only ones you see walking around are the Caribbean peeps who don't drive, druggies/crazies/homeless, or assholes walking around casing the neighborhood looking for things to steal. And the fact that I'm a minority in this area doesn't help. Recently the powers that be have been stirring up racial animosity in this country, so being my ethnicity in this area could get me killed. I'm not saying that everyone around here is like that, but all it takes is one idiot. The worst I usually get is dirty looks.

You really need to move to a small town or something.

That wold be nice, but it seems that TPTB are now importing the urban dysfunction to smaller towns.

Wouldn't QoH want to move to a safer place?

She talks about it and complains, but my 'rents are not doers. They just talk and complain. They talked about moving since I was very little, so 4 decades of talk. And could you imagine the logistics of trying to move QoH's hoard to a new place? :/ There are lots of other things to consider, too, like jobs availability, taxes, weather/climate, etc.
