I found it!

It's not the Lucky Charms shirt that I was looking for, but it's definitely the shirt that I need! Is there a shirt more befitting Xul? I think not! And as a bonus I found some boxers to complete the ensemble. :)

Cool. :)

Is that Loki? The Avengers version even? Loki is not Irish...

Do you ever eat Lucky Charms BTW? What are they like? We don't have them in the Netherlands.

Now that's more like it. A good old leprechaun. I wonder if there's a box of gold in there somewhere. :)

True, but everyone has a wee bit o' the Irish somewhere inside(tricksyness), and for St Paddy's all are welcome to celebrate. ;P

Nope. I have no clue. QoH never bought any kids' cereals for me when I was a kid(to much sugar, bad, bad, bad, or in her words "junk"). I only remember having Froot Loops when I was older-like maybe teens. My first job in my late teens I do remember working a breakfast and there were leftover assorted mini boxes of various kids cereals and I sampled several kinds. Fruity Pebbles weren't bad, and Coco Puffs were good as well.

We don't have them in the Netherlands.

Y'all are deprived. ;P

Now that's more like it. A good old leprechaun.

Yep, that's Lucky from the Lucky Charms cereal. The shirt I wanted was of him with the rainbow and pot o' gold/charms and was a ringer-style shirt.

I wonder if there's a box of gold in there somewhere. :)

Well, if *I* was wearing the shorts what lay beneath would be much better than gold. ;P ;P ;P

Those breakfast cereals do contain a lot of sugar. Certainly not suitable for diabetics.

We have other things. I've been dreaming about a breakfast cereal with small oliebollen and hagelslag. ;)

Or how about an ice-cream sandwich with stroopwafels? Is that too much to ask? ;)

Well, it's true that there are certain things you can't do with bars of gold. ;P

Well, have a nice weekend. :)

I shall try, but I have to go shopping with QoH in a while. :(

It's a pity you don't have a portable gaming system or even a cell phone to play games on just to get past all the boredom. You could play in the car or something while you wait for QoH to finish shopping. :)

I've been shopping today as well. I was looking for a new multimeter. I have one an old one but it's really handy to have second one. Plus the old one is partly broken. Unfortunately there's not a single multimeter for sale in this crummy town. I had to go buy one online. This town used to have a couple of hobby electronics shops. Now the nearest one is in Breda.

Anyway, did you buy anything interesting?

On no. No, no, no. That's not the way it works. QoH drives me to whatever store she wants to go to because she cannot let me drive myself(I might do something fun if I was by myself). Her reasoning is that someone may try to rape, rob, or murder me and she needs to be in the car watching in case that happens and then she can call the cops from the safety of the car. When we get to whichever store it is, I usually go in by myself. I guess no one *in* the store is going to try to rape, rob, or murder me.

It's much better for me when I go in alone as I don't have to listen to her never ending bitching and complaining about everything. The worst is when she chooses to go in. It's inevitable that she will corner some poor fool and regale them with her crazy. Most people are too polite or have never experienced her particular brand of crazy and don't know to cut her off and walk away. It's particularly embarrassing. I usually walk away and look at other things when that happens.

The second store that we went to that happened. I was getting the butcher to cut a ham into steaks for me while she went to the bathroom. When she came out, she started in on some lady with 2 kids telling her about the ethylene glycol in the Coco Lopez. I had been looking at the stuff earlier to buy as an ingredient to coconut chicken tenders but when I read the label I put it back because that is one of the ingredients to antifreeze. Anyway, the lady that QoH was telling this to happened to be a pharmacists and agreed with me that it isn't good to consume and can give you kidney failure.

By this time, I could see that QoH was going to be a while so I just took the cart of groceries to the front and checked out. Luckily for me a small miracle occurred and QoH came out to the car as I was finishing putting the groceries in ad I didn't have to go back in to retrieve her.

The 3rd store I went in by myself and was in and out in less than 15 minutes. :)

Now the nearest one is in Breda.

Why didn't you go there? Is Breda crummy, too?

Anyway, did you buy anything interesting?

Nah, just some roof patching stuff from the 1st store and groceries from the other 2.

I'm going to watch some MMA tonight. :)

Are you sure it's not Propylene glycol alginate? According to this source the ingredients are: "Coconut, Sugar, Water, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Monostearate, Salt, Propylene Glycol Alginate, Mono and Diglycerides Emulsifier(s), Citric Acid, Guar Gum, Locust Bean Gum" Not that I like these ingredients any better...

Well, it's a whole 16 kilometers from my house. That's Dutch kilometers, of course, not Floridian ones. ;P

The store there isn't crummy though. I've been there before and they've got a lot of good stuff. But, in hindsight, it's probably better for me to shop on-line as the website I use usually has a lot of detailed info on the stuff they sell. And they probably sell stuff the shop doesn't.

I'm going to watch some MMA tonight.

Okay, have fun. :) (or wait, this was yesterday, so I guess you already had fun ;)

Perhaps I misremembered. ;P

Still, I don't like eating things with lots of extra chemicals added. I ended up buying a different brand that only had coconut, sugar, water, and citric acid.

Not much to travel by Florida standards, but you're probably better off shopping online.

The MMA turned out to be boring since it was from Brazil and the judges there will always have the Brazilian fighter win even if they get their ass kicked in the fight. In one fight the ref stopped it while the American was trying to escape from a guillotine choke that wasn't very tight. He just stopped it and gave the Brazilian the win. The American guy was like WTF?!?

Anyway, I found out that I'm going to get a minor wish come true--Bethe Correia is going to fight Rousey!!! She told her that she was going to give her a gift that no one else has given her--a punch in the face. LOL I hope it's many punches in the face. Why stop at one? :)

And the stare down at the fight announcement press conference was pretty good, too. Bethe looked like she was going to murder Rousey. Bethe seems bigger as well.

Me neither. My parents are pretty fanatical about that. I guess it rubbed off on me.

That's what I thought too. And the waiting time isn't that long.

So who do you realistically think will win?

Fresh is best. :)

If it is a real fight and none of this rigged bullshit that I suspect, then Bethe would have a really good shot at winning. She hits really hard and if she didn't let Rousey Judo-toss her and kept it standing, Bethe could give her a good pummeling. But I'm realistic about these things. Dana White makes millions of dollars off Rousey and it's in his best interest to keep her as champ, so likely Rousey will "win". The least they could do is let it go a few rounds so peeps get their money's worth.

I'm with Cyborg when she says that Rousey won't fight a real fighter. Rousey had mentioned that she would fight Layla Ali(does Layla even do MMA?). Like Cyborg pointed out, Rousey would be willing to fight Ali who is like 30 pounds heavier, but she won't come up to fight at a 140 pound catch weight to fight Cyborg. It's all about the money as peeps would pay to see the Ali fight. I think they'd pay to see Cyborg IMO.

Of course, if Bethe won, Dana could suck up to the Brazilians like he likes to do and then do a rematch in Brazil and make lots of money from that like with the Anderson Silva/Chris Weidman fights.

She's retired according to Wikipedia. She's also 37, ten years older than Rousey, and has had 3 kids. Her last professional fight was in 2007.

Just another prime example of stupid shit that Rousey says. I don't know why Layla would come out of retirement unless she would make many millions of dollars off of it. And would it be a boxing match or MMA? The whole scenario is stupid. I hope Bethe Correia knocks her the hell out. :)

The witches have unleashed a plague upon Salem. Lots of suffering and gory things to come. I like this series. It looks really good, the costumes are good, and it's horror done right. :)

I kinda like that smell. I'm surprised there isn't a perfume based on it. And why aren't there perfumes based on the smell of freshly baked bread or recently mowed grass? ;)

I had my little talk with the shrink again today. Nothing worthwhile mentioning was discussed really. I also had a meeting with SS guy on Monday. He wanted to know how long my therapy was going to take. So I asked my shrink and he said it was too early to tell, as I expected him to say. SS guy is an impatient fellow, I think. I do understand that his job is to get me to get a job but I think he underestimates the stubbornness of my defective little brain.

Anyway, do you have anything to look forward to this week?

It was definitely hot yesterday. It would have been much better if I was BBQing and had a nice pool to dip in afterward and maybe some friends over to enjoy it all with.

I kinda like that smell.

I don't. I'm very sensitive to the smell of smoke and the stuff that comes off the coals just permeates everything. That heavy smoke smell in my hair and clothes just grosses me out. I tried to keep it to a minimum by wearing a tank top with an apron over everything, but it didn't help much. I had to take a shower and wash my hair immediately afterward and I even rinsed out my tank top as well. :/

based on the smell of freshly baked bread

Now *that's* one of my favorite scents. The giant Flower's Bakery factory is not too far from my house and on certain nights when they are baking and the wind is blowing just right it smells heavenly. :)

too early to tell

Just like a shrink to want to prolong the € € € for as long as possible. ;)

SS guy is an impatient fellow

Do you want to be able to have a job?

Ma Nature began her visit today so I'm looking forward to when she leaves. ;P

I'd like to be a person who wants to be able to have a job, get one and keep it. Life so far is a lot like that movie Groundhog's Day. It's not uncomfortable but I'm not sure I can handle it in the long run. I just don't want to get depressed again.

I'd love to. The bitch was stabbing me in the uterus this morning while I was trying to sleep. So annoying. You lay there and hope it'll stop, but then it doesn't. Getting up and going to the toilet relieved some of the pressure and then taking ibuprofen helped much more.

When is that again?

How are the stories coming along? Got inspiration? Have you ever been on that website TVtropes? It's at the same time sobering and inspiring.

I suppose it's hard to do anything while being stabbed in the uterus. Hey, at least it means your not going through menopause yet. Hot flashes aren't very pleasant either, I've heard.

I made a little electronic thingy today. A red light that turns on when the room goes dark. I'm not entirely sure I understand how I made it though. More research is required. :)

Have you ever built anything? You know, just for fun (or as medieval Dutch people would say: "Ter leering ende vermaeck")?

BTW, I've been taking a multivitamin pill every day for a couple of weeks now and I feel somewhat better than before. I have a little more energy, I think.

They're not. I kinda lost all inspiration. IDK, it seems if I don't get a Really Big Idea and write it all out at once, then it's just not going to happen. These little funny ideas are funny in my head, but the more I try to make a whole story out of them and the longer it takes I just sorta lose interest. Writing was never something I had a passion for. If it's not something I can bang out in an hour or so it becomes a chore for me.

Have you ever been on that website TVtropes?

IDK, maybe I'll go check it out. :)

Hot flashes aren't very pleasant either, I've heard.

It was most unpleasant when QoH was having them. She used to have the A/C so cold at work that everyone was freezing except her. She'd be complaining about it being too hot. O_o

A red light that turns on when the room goes dark.

Well, it's not a giant killer robot but it's a start. ;P

Have you ever built anything?

When I was a kid I built ramps for my BMX bike and I also made shields and armor for LARPing(we didn't have that name for it back then, though ;P). Do Legos and those sorts of toys count?

I have a little more energy, I think.

That's good to hear. Gotta take care of yourself--I like having you around. :)

Would you like to have more people to have around? Wouldn't be bad thing.

Can't you write it in installments?

It's almost impossible to write anything with QoH around. For example, she has been relentlessly bothering me all day today, so much so that I haven't had an opportunity to get on the 'toobs until just now--at 7:07pm. It's usually like that every day, some days worse than others.

The day that I wrote Hard At Work I was outside mowing the lawn(the only time I usually have time enough to think without her constantly interrupting me). I am relaxed when I'm doing mindless work like that and my brain can come up with creative ideas. The tricky part was remembering all the dialog that I had thought up and then actually getting inside to the computer to type it all out.

I had several interruptions while trying to do that(I have to hide the laptop or else she will be nosy about what I'm doing). It's a real pain in the ass to try to write something and then have to stow it away quickly and then have her come and chew my ear off with her word-vomit. It interrupts my flow and I forget what I was writing.

What did you build with them?

I liked the castle sets, so I had almost all of those. So castles, catapults--that sort of thing. I also used to have those wooden building sets when I was very young. I don't recall what they were called. They had a bunch of sticks of varying lengths and then round wooden pieces with little holes drilled into them so that you could put the sticks into them.

I also had this thing called Capsela which was "a construction toy brand consisting primarily of gears and motors in spherical plastic capsules that could be connected to form various" thingies. That one was pretty neat as it ran off batteries and you could make motorized things with wheels or things that could float in water and were propelled with paddles.

Would you like to have more people to have around?

Of course! I always wonder what it would be like to have my internet "friends" around. Lots of peep who you wouldn't necessarily know in real life like the Crazy Scottish Woman. I always wondered what she's like. She leads a life so completely different than mine. Then there are others who should stay on the internet only. ;P (Not you, of course :))

***It is now 8:07pm. It has taken me an hour to complete this comment thanks to QoH's interruptions. :/

Oh! Nearly forgot! Got to watch some Muay Thai last night and my favorite lady fighter Tiffany Van Soest beat the crap out of that ill tempered Morrocan chick Chajmaa Bellekhal. The bitch was being so disrespectful during the ceremonial "sealing of the ring" and wouldn't move out of the way for Tiffany, then when the ref was giving instructions before the fight she was making all sorts of stupid faces and shit acting like an idiot. Tiffany was just staring her down. Shouldn't have made her mad. Tiffany beat her silly for 5 rounds and won unanimously. :)

No, all 3 judges scored it 50-45, so unanimous decision.

Do you see a lot actual K.O.'s ?

The Lion Fights Muay Thai promotion that I watch seems to have more TKO's than KO's.

Well, the satellite provider graced me with 5 free Starz channels and 3 Epix chammels, so I finally got to see Maleficent. It wasn't too bad. Could've been a little longer IMO, but it looked really good visually. And it was only a PG movie. I guess they had to keep it that way for all the kiddies.

I tried to watch Noah but I only lasted 15 minutes. It was just too stupid. I can't believe they gave that crap a 3 out of 4 stars rating. :/

World War Z and some Transformers movie was on, too. I watched a bit of both but lost interest.

I ended up watching Red Sonja and Conan the Barbarian for like the 100th time on El Rey. Can't beat the classics. ;P

And OUAT is on in 1 hour 55 minutes. :)

Obviously "chammels" was a typo, suposed to be "channels". What the satellite company does from time to time is give you premium channels that you normally have to pay extra for(that don't come as part of a package)for free to entice you to add them because of all the wonderful movies they have. Most of the movies I couldn't care less about and am not going to pay extra per month for them. :)

R rated and a little more plot and action wouldn't have been bad, but I understand they were going for the Disney crowd and the kiddies. It wasn't bad, though. I still liked it.

And was that any fun? :)

Oh yes. :) Now I'm fully expecting Dragon Queen stories at Fanfic now with possibly Regina Jr magic baby stories since "Lily" from the first half of S4 looked a dead ringer for a mini Regina and now we find out she's Mal's daughter. :O

Well, the engine didn't run smoothly anymore (my car is from '97). What they say is that is was quite hard to figure out what exactly was wrong with it and that it was difficult to get parts for such an old car. I guess they have a point? My car doesn't look that old BTW. It's been taken good care of.

I did ask some questions and they did offer to explain everything in detail but I figured it would help me get a lower price so I declined that.

No, this chick named Lily(who looks *exactly* like a young Regina)who was Emma's first friend when she was a teen as shown in a flashback, turns out to be Mal's daughter(not gonna spoil, but the un-Charmings did a bad, bad thing). They didn't say who the baby-daddy was, but you *know* FF writers are gonna say it's Regina(yeah, I know, lady lovin' magic baby ;P).

I figured it would help me get a lower price so I declined that.

Well, it sounds like you got off easy then. :)

In other news, QoH wanted to "get up early" today to go to the store. So we left at 2pm instead of after 5pm. ::rolls eyes::

Anyway, I had to take back 2 boxes of Stevia for a refund because Sam's now sells a box with almost double the amount for the same price. Then we needed a few things from Sam's. QoH wants to go to Publix, too, so maybe we're going there later. We don't really need anything from there but QoH can't seem to pass up a sale. Wha... I.. What?

The company that we rent the house from is renovating bathrooms a couple of house down the street. The workmen are making a hell of a noise, annoyingly. They'll be doing some renovating over at our house as well one of these months. It will take about 8 workdays apparently. We won't have any water during the day, so no normally working toilets or showers or taps during that time. They start at 7:15 in the morning. I'll have to start going to bed really early if I want to get any sleep.

PS. the captcha has a little dancing robot animation now... must be an April Fools thing or something.

I don't use it, it's for QoH since she is diabetic. She puts it in coffee or on food that she wants sweetened.

Yeah, most places have you sign a receipt if you return something- it used to only be that way if you paid with credit or debit-now most of them do for cash as well. I think this was the first time I had to sign the touch screen thingy.

That sounds very very inconvenient. I would be super pissed if I had to be up that early for 8 days...close to murderous. And no water? Oy. Can't you go stay with your sis?

must be an April Fools thing or something.

Hm, I don't see that since it's my blog and I'm signed in but I've heard of similar things on Tumblr and such.

I saw some good pranks on a TV show earlier today. One of the easiest ones was putting a cutout shape of a large bug inside a lamp shade. You see the "bug" when the lamp gets turned on. That would have been a good one to do to my sis if she was still alive. She was terrified of Palmetto bugs. ;P

Nope. It's affordable to rent. My parents never made a lot of money. A house costs about 100,000 to 200,000 euro at least. Plus they always thought it was to much of a gamble to buy a house and my parents a NOT IN ANY WAY inclined to take risks.

Can't you go stay with your sis?

We're considering something involving my sister but we're still working out the details.

Here, it depends on where you live. In S Florida everything is expensive and overpriced-both renting and buying. At least my old peeps bought this house like a thousand years ago when things were reasonable, and even then, this house was considered expensive back then. It's not a mansion by any stretch, it's very modest. My dad was the sole earner and he didn't make very much. At least it's paid for and we only have to worry about taxes and utilities.

I could never afford to live on my own down here.

NOT IN ANY WAY inclined to take risks.

Mine are the same. I think QoH is waaaay worse than my dad, though.

Was your sister like you BTW? Or was she very different?

My sister was very outgoing and had a really good sense of humor. I'm more introverted and reserved until I get to know someone, then I let my real self shine through. I think I get a lot of my sense of fun and humor from my sister. My mother has no sense of humor and she frowns upon anyone having fun. My dad always called her a "killjoy" (which she totally is). I could only really have a good time if I went places with my sister(without QoH).

About 700 a month I think. My personal "rent" is 300. We live in the center of town so I guess that does affect the amount of rent to pay.

At least it's paid for and we only have to worry about taxes and utilities.

That has to be a really nice feeling. No one can kick you out of your own house. :)

I think QoH is waaaay worse than my dad, though.

Yeah, same here. I really can't tell how much different my father's life would be if he hadn't married my mother. He doesn't seem to regret it though.

Well, shrink day's over again. He gave me a book to read. It's supposed give me more insight into myself, I guess. Next appt is in 3 weeks.

And how was your working day? :)

Well, considering the Euro is almost equal to the dollar now, that's pretty cheap for a house. I know peeps who pay that much for a one room efficiency or $800 for a tiny apartment.

He gave me a book to read.

Which book?

And how was your working day? :)

It was a pleasure. :) We did it at the client's daughter's house this time. She lives very close to her mother's house. There were 11 guests and we got 2 extra hours. Lots of moolah for a fairly easy gig. :) If I could do 3 gigs like that per week I'd be on easy street. :)

I'll tell more about it tomorrow. It's really late now.

Nah, I used to be able to do gigs like that like it was nothing. I'm just really out of shape when it comes to working. If I did it regularly it would be no big deal.

QoH makes it worse. She left like 2 hours before we had to be there. It takes 45 minutes maximum to get there, 30 if the traffic isn't bad. Then she goes and sits in the Publix parking lot burning gas until we have to be there. Then when we left, instead of getting on I-95 which is like a couple blocks from where we were and we could have been home in 30 minutes or less(if I was driving ;P), she takes 15 minutes driving slower than molasses in January to get to the turnpike which is a couple miles West, then a couple miles north, then back-tracking. Ugh. *Then* she drives 55 fucking miles per hour when the speed limit is 65(and everyone goes at least 70)and people are zooming past like we're standing still. She just doesn't get it that when you drive slow on an expressway it creates "a situation", especially when she insists on doing it in the fast lane. She'll go dead on 65mph and then excuse it away that "I'm doing the speed limit". Yeah, and you're also pissing everyone off and holding up traffic and down here someone is likely to shoot you in a road rage incident. Every time she goes on the turnpike she does that and creates road rage--some worse than others. :/

We didn't get home until almost 2am because of her bullshit. She made a 10 hour day out of it with her driving shenanigans. >:(

Why burning gas? Are you not allowed to park there with your engine turned off?

Another reason not to live in Florida... Just the idea of people driving around with guns.. brrrr..

Do you think you'll get more gigs this year?

Because the A/C doesn't run with the engine off and QoH *can't* be hot. Her Majesty *must* be in *cold* A/C at all times or she'll get *hot* and we can't have that! NEVER! The temperature must *always* be to her liking or there will be much bitching and complaining. >:(

Just the idea of people driving around with guns.. brrrr..

Someone getting shot over a road rage incident is very rare but it can happen. If only QoH would learn to be considerate of others the way she expects everyone to be considerate of her at all times and to show deference to all her whims at all times, but then if *that* was to happen she wouldn't be NPD!

Do you think you'll get more gigs this year?

I certainly hope so. If QoH was a normal person I could just go seek out work like anyone else, but she doesn't really want that. She wants to be with me 24/7/365 so she can monitor my every move and know what I'm doing at all times. I can also be here all the time to be her personal slave/step-and-fetch, someone to bitch at and project all her negativity on. If I was working at a job full time I wouldn't be around for all that. We can't have Xul having a normal life like a normal person, that just won't do because Xul is a possession and not a person with feelings and wants and needs. :/

It's just that I'm going to be 39 in a month and I've never had any independence whatsoever. Also, Ma Nature has been giving me extra hormones or something the past few days. You should be glad you're on the other side of the Atlantic or I'd try to ravish you six ways from Sunday. ;P ;D

So I just channel all my frustrations into working out. At least I'll have a nice looking body even if no one is allowed to have it. :/

Was the OUAT episode an Easter special BTW?

It wasn't on. There was a Cecil B. DeMille movie on instead. It'll be back on next Sunday. I get a chuckle at how the Jewish writers subtly interject Old Testament themes in the show, though. The last episode had the Watchers and also the Scapegoat alluded to.

The season 2 premiere of Salem was on last night. It wasn't too riveting. I'm hoping it'll get more interesting. Lucy Lawless was good, though. :)

What are you up to? Are the workmen disrupting your life yet?

Meh, nothing much. The workmen have not arrived yet. We are trying to figure out how we're going to deal with not having any water during the day and needing to go to the bathroom. The workmen do apparently supply a substitute W.C. but that's just a plastic box with a hole in the top and a seat. We watched it being cleaned this afternoon. We were most unimpressed by the lack of sophistication and comfort.

Okay, season 4B finds Regina, Henry, and Emma looking for "The Author" so that he can write Regina a happy ending. In the last episode via flashback the Sorcerer's Apprentice told Snow and Charming that the Author isn't a person but a job description. Their job is to watch and record events in the storybook. We found out that the current author was embellishing things and changing the course of events so he was trapped in the storybook as punishment.

Anyway, in the book of Genesis(and IIRC Enoch), The Watchers were a select group of angels who were to watch over mankind and record events. They got a little too interested in human wimminz and came down and had relations and spawned half-species offspring that became giants and monsters and so forth.

Snow and Charming also asked the Sorcerer's Apprentice if there was a way to ensure that Emma would only be good when she was born(it was revealed that the product of true love could be either really good or really evil). He told them that they had to offer up another child as a vessel to take upon it all the evil. That turned out to be Maleficent's egg(that turned out to have a baby inside). Snow and Charming stole the egg from Mal. She begged them not to do it but they did it anyway(because they are such good guys). The Sorcerer's Apprentice did the ceremony to transfer the evil from fetal Emma into the egg. The egg started hatching and then they saw that it was a baby inside, but then the Sorcerer's Apprentice opened a portal and threw her in and everyone was like D: .

In the book of Leviticus the scapegoat was one of the animals for the atonement of sin and was sent into the wilderness.

We are trying to figure out how we're going to deal with not having any water during the day

When we had the issue with the water heater and I had to shut the water off to the house, we had a water cooler that we filled up at the neighbor's house to use for washing our hands and dishes and stuff. I don't remember what we did for the toilets.

but that's just a plastic box with a hole in the top and a seat

Not even a Porta-shitter? Ya know, they *do* make the nicer kind that has a sink attached. I would only use one in an absolute emergency, though. When they have those for public events they tend to get really nasty. When I went to that Flugtag thing I walked all the way to Bayside to use their restrooms instead of the plastic shitters.

We were most unimpressed by the lack of sophistication and comfort.

You are quite right to be. It's barbaric.

Nope. Just a box. The Magic Box Of Poo. :)

I don't remember what we did for the toilets.

We have 2 toilets in the house so if the workers only work on 1 room at the same time we can use the other one and just make sure we have water to flush with.

It's barbaric.

We do, too. I think perhaps we just let the pee accumulate for several goes and then flushed with water from the garbage can 'o water that QoH keeps out back for emergencies.

Well, you could've done it like that all Afghan-style or just let there be dingle berries. Equally gross. What is the best kind of leaf to use for that? ;P

It's not a very large shark.

Nope. One time when I was at my sis' friend's place(his building was on the bay)I went out on the back balcony and saw a 3-4 meter long shark by the sea wall. That was a pretty good size one. :)

I'd have been more impressed if that shark had caught the bobcat. :P

Like when the python ate the alligator and the 'gator burst out its belly. :)

One time when I was in Lake Wales I saw a bobcat chasing a rabbit. Also, some ladies I used to work with told me about the bobcat that used to stalk around their apartment complex. We have lots of animal drama here. ;P

I'm starting to wake up with wolverine hair again

That doesn't sound too awful. I think you'd look good with mussed hair(especially if I'm the one mussing it). ;D

I'm thinking of cutting mine a little shorter as well. Maybe take 2 or 3 inches off. I'm slowly working toward a little longer than shoulder length.

Meh. My father woke me up this morning at 6:30 because my mother wasn't feeling well and apparently he felt he couldn't handle the situation on his own. After some checking we decided to call the doctor. She asked a bunch of questions and eventually send the paramedics for a hands-on check up. They decided she needed to go to the hospital. As it turns out they couldn't find anything really wrong with her there. The docs think it's stress related. My mother is such a negative ninny.

Anyway, I played some Warframe and did some shopping. I'm a little tired. Maybe I'll take a small nap. :)

Well, the end of season 4 GoT was really, really great! As I suspected, Tyrion wasn't put to death. His brother Jaime and Lord Varys conspired to spring him from the dungeon. Jaime came and let him out and told him to go up to Varys and he's smuggle him out of the country. But Tyrion took a detour up to his father's bedchamber where to his shock he found his lover Shae in his father's bed. There as a struggle and Shae tried to stab him, but Tyrion managed to knock the knife out of her hand and strangled her with her own necklace. He then took a crossbow off the wall and went to find his father Tywin. He found him in the shitter of all things and then shot him twice and killed him! Woohoo! Then he found Varys and was smuggled out of the country. In the 1st ep of S5, Varys told Tyrion that there was a conspiracy to install a Targarian back to the throne and that they were going to go to Meereen to meet with Dany! Woohoo!

I suspect that Dany will probably make some alliance with Dorne as well after the death of Oberyn Martell. Lots of awesomeness to come, I'm sure. :D

My mother is such a negative ninny.

Ah, yes, the ol' working herself into a tizzy thing. I'm familiar with that. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. :/

Maybe I'll take a small nap. :)

Sounds like a plan. I mowed the whole lawn and leaf blew and showered and washed my hair yesterday during the 2 eps of GoT that I had already seen. That was exhausting getting that all in before getting back to watch the rest of GoT and OUAT. OUAT was vomit inducing as it was a Robin Hood centric episode. I'm getting to the point where I'd like them to finish up the series in this season so I can be done with it. :/

Oh, c'mon...by the time you get to see it you probably wouldn't remember what I wrote here. ;P

I *know* I got impatient and read up on the wiki for the book series and didn't remember any of that. The only thing I remember is a certain character returns as a sorta zombie, but that hasn't happened in the show yet.

Peeps at the tv.com site were bitching that someone needs to start whipping Martin to get him to finish the books before the show catches up.

Doesn't your library have a copy of seasons 3 and 4 yet? If not, you should complain. ;)

my dad worried to the point that he thought he had to drag me out of bed.

Yeah, I've experienced this behavior as well as read about it on the PD site. Supposed adults go all waify and need their child to step in like they are suddenly incapable. Parentification it's called. Sigh. Old peeps. :/

That's just because of the guy playing him, right? You don't have a problem with Old Hoodie himself? :)

I have a problem with all of it. RH was never a favorite of mine and the actor and the storyline they have for him is just so barf-o-rama. He's not honorable, he's a real shit-bag. He lies all the time and cheats on his wife and dicks Regina around(literally and figuratively).

They showed in the backstory that RH and Marian were running a tavern(I guess Marian didn't want him thieving any more). Sheriff comes in like an IRS agent to collect the taxes, but RH doesn't have the money to pay. Enter Rumple. Well, IMO he needed Jon Taffer from bar rescue if he didn't know how to make money running a tavern, not Rump. Then he goes to Oz on a McGuffin hunt, encounters the Knave/Will Scarlett who just happens to be in Oz too! lies to him, and then comes up with some stupid line about it not being wrong to steal as long as it's from rich people. Lovely message for a show targeting kids. ::rolls eyes:: And now a certain killed-off character is now back and was supposedly disguised as another character for 9 whole weeks. Yeah, bullshit!

I was really disgusted with that episode and this show in general as the story lines are so poorly written and inconsistent and full of plot holes. My first thought is it is now just like some stupid soap opera.

There's supposed to be good movies.

I haven't seen either so IDK.

I'm looking forward to whenever Halt and Catch Fire comes back on. I seem to have developed a fondness for 1980's code monkeys. ;P ;D

I don't know about that. My dad is pretty far from a waify type of guy. My mother obviously wanted him to call the equivalent of 911 and perhaps he wasn't sure that was al that necessary and needed some back up from me. It was pretty hard to tell wat was going on, to be honest.

What was the problem anyway? And isn't it free for you lot? I know there is like a $50 copay here for the ER if you're on Medicare. I don't think there's a charge to call the Fire Rescue EMTs. Isn't it SOP to call for a medic when an old person is having an issue?

I'm sure he'll get his comeuppance then. :)

I hope so. I hate that character.

is any character really punished in this show for the bad things they do?

IIRC, just Cora, Tamara & Greg, and Peter Pan.

Well, today I had to find a replacement saw chain for my pole saw since the old one is dull and won't cut anything.

I bought the thing at Lowe's so I looked on their website. They had a different brand that was supposed to fit. I took down the info and called the local store and asked the operator to look it up for me. She said they didn't have that item # so I asked her to connect me with the chain saw dept.

I spoke with a guy who seemed to know what he was talking about and he told me they had 2 different ones and to bring in my old one to be sure of the length.

I had to take my saw apart to get the chain off but it was only 4 screws and 2 bolts and not complicated. When I got to the Lowe's there was a different guy in the dept than the one I had spoken to. This one didn't know anything. He measured the chain and was going by that. The size is determined by the bar length not the chain length. He was trying to give me one for a huge saw. I ended up having to compare them myself. One was a little shorter that what I had by maybe 2mm and the other was shorter by almost 1cm. At least on my saw there is a thing to adjust the bar so it would fit.

When I got home, I put the new chain on and it seems to fit okay. Now I'll just have to try cutting something to see if I got it on facing the right direction. ;P

Anyway, Lowe's needs to update their product #s and prices on the website because it was all different at the store. The price was $1 more and the item #s were all different.

And they need to try having a few more registers open. They only ever have 2 open there and many customers so it's like waiting in a Soviet bread line. :/

Okay. I'm AFK ATM so it'll be my next comment.

Do you happen to have any interesting pix of yourself or scenery that you'd like to share? ;)

I'll have a look. :)

Oh, it's babysit evening today so I don't know how quickly I can make my next post.

Before I respond to yours, lemme tell ya what happened today: a kinda miracle occurred--well, 2 actually--firstly, I woke up on my own before 10:30am, and QoH got her butt ready to go to the store before 5pm! We were outta here by 1:30 IIRC. 4 stops and 4 hours later we returned home. Then I had to put all the food away and then cut up 2 chickens to freeze that I bought last night. Now I'm tired. :/

she feels she has side-effects from

Hmm, maybe it was a med? QoH doesn't like taking them either and she quit taking her thyroid one. She said it made her not be able to sleep. She's contemplating not taking her diabetes one.

Where's the society these people supposedly live in?

Lazy writing. And the writers always have some lame excuse for everything. IIRC Spencer/King George murdered Gus-Gus and framed Ruby for it was never punished and then we just moved on.

even though there's a sherif

Who never actually does any sheriffing and is always off on a McGuffin hunt.

Lots of peeps are getting tired of the show.

Oh, BTW...earlier when I was watching the local news, they did a little spot on Bailee Madison(the girl who played young Snow in OUAT)and apparently she is a S Florida girl. She grew up in the Ft Lauderdale area.

it'll be my next comment.

Cool. :)

I'll have a look. :)

Eeeeexcellent! ::steeples fingers like Montgomery Burns:: ;P

Have fun sittin' on those kiddies! ;P

Strange. Can you not point to anything that might explain this mysterious bout of activity on QoH's part?

She's contemplating not taking her diabetes one.

Is it insulin in pill form? She'll get very sick if she doesn't take that.

book report

Weeeelllll... I'm gonna take the easy way out and just link to the wikipedia page of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy because basically, that's what it is about. Apparently the Dutch writer (a renowned psychologist) who wrote this little booklet plagiarized another book called "Rational Counseling Primer" by Howard S. Young which is about REBT (originally conceived by Adam Ellis and a bunch of ancient Greek philosophers.)

The short short version: "Your focus determines your reality" - Qui-Gon Jinn. :)

Okay, maybe there's a little more to it than that. :)

Eeeeexcellent!

You're gonna have to give me some time to make this happen. :/

The noon news' weather report mentioned something about afternoon thunderstorms(which never made it here)and the fact that it was Friday and afternoon traffic is especially bad on Fridays, so she wanted to get ahead of all that since thunderstorms would make the traffic even worse.

Is it insulin in pill form?

No, her body makes too much insulin so she has to take a pill to counteract that. She swears she doesn't notice any difference. Of course, she knows better than all the "fake" doctors who work for the govt who only want all old people to die. Le sigh.

plagiarized another book

Lovely. Ya know, it doesn't take much to footnote and document your sources. Plagiarism drives me nuts, even in something as inconsequential as FF. I read one recently that was an obvious ripoff of GoT. Just say it's based off GoT FFS. When I wrote This Book... I made sure to credit Lady Cottington's even though I make no $$$ and am doing it for fun.

"Your focus determines your reality" - Qui-Gon Jinn. :)

Yeah, basically. Or "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23:7 Lots of versions of the same concept. ;)

You're gonna have to give me some time to make this happen. :/

Okay! Looking forward to it. :)

Proverbs 23:7 Lots of versions of the same concept.

Are you sure? In context:

6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats;

7 for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink,” saith he to thee, but his heart is not with thee.

8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.

It seems to be about something different.

REBT is more about not letting extreme thoughts lead to extreme emotions that become a hindrance for your happiness. Like thinking that one has to be perfect in some way or it's a disaster. But that's just one example. In general it's not events that cause us to feel afraid or sad or angry but the thoughts that we have as a reaction to an event. TBH I think the term "reasonable" would be better than "rational" (in the acronym) as it's mostly about not making unreasonable demands on yourself and the world.

There are aspects of this that I don't agree with or find worrying. The therapy consists mainly of identifying and counteracting "extreme thoughts". It's not always clear what an extreme thought is as there are several examples in the book that seem merely inconvenient for or incompatible with ones' environment. How much should I change about myself (if I can) to achieve either "harmony" or "indifference" with the world? Shouldn't sometimes the world change and not me? What if the world is wrong and I'm right but the world is strong and I'm weak?

Also, I am reminded of the fable of the fox and the grapes. The fox wants to eat the grapes but they hang too high so he can't get to them. In the end he gives up and tells himself that he didn't want the grapes in the first place. So he's disappointed but decides to convince himself that he isn't and he's apparently happier for it. To me, this just seems wrong, because it's lying, to yourself even. At what point does lying to make yourself feel better become okay?

Then again, in some cases, like the perfectionism, it's more about finding out the truth and realizing that you don't have to be perfect.

Anyway, my thoughts on the book. :)

And how is your weekend going?

It seems to be about something different.

It's not literally talking about food. A lot of the Old Testament is written in flouncy language. It's talking about a good person trying to use evil tactics to get ahead. There is also a verse in Genesis in reference to those at the Tower of Babel saying that they would be able to accomplish whatever they put their minds to.

Like thinking that one has to be perfect in some way or it's a disaster.

That is a big one that I had to overcome being raised by QoH. She catastrophized *everything*. Every little thing that she felt was a mistake on my part was blown way out of proportion. It *really* sucks to spend your life walking on eggshells and anticipating her condemnation. You get to the point that you think everyone is like that looking to pounce on your slightest mistake. It makes for anxiety disorder big time.

I *finally* got over it after watching several self-help type shows where they basically bring rational thinking into it--"what's the worst that could happen type thing, minor mistakes aren't the end of the world, most people are too concerned with their own lives to be concerned with what you do". That sort of thing. It's something that you mindfully have to put into practice. Not easy with a Narc lurking around. :/

How much should I change about myself (if I can) to achieve either "harmony" or "indifference" with the world?

I look at it this way: the world is what it is, people are what they are and you can't change anything but yourself. You can only control your thoughts and actions. Lemme use traffic as an example. Both my parents bitch and complain when they are driving. My dad is worse than QoH since he can work himself into a dangerous road rage. But does bitching and complaining change traffic or how idiots drive? No it does not. All it does it give you stress and high blood pressure. I used to be like them since they were my example so I thought that's what's normal. I saw a show about that and realized that it is true that I can't change traffic by raging, all it does it fill up my body with toxic hormones. So I had to conscientiously make the decision to just be calm when driving. I don't have to get upset about idiot maneuvers, it is what it is, I don't have to focus on the negative. Not to say that I'm perfect in this area, I live and drive in S FL and it's almost impossible to not get irritated, but I try to be reasonable about it. ;P

the fable of the fox and the grapes

Yeah, the fox tried to convince himself that the grapes were sour. I don't believe in lying to oneself. Good thing we are people and not a fox. ;) Peeps can usually find a way to get what they want.

Did I ever tell you about the NHL All Star block party? I went with 2 friends and their kid(3 or 4 y/o at the time). We ended up getting there later than I had wanted because of the kid acting up, etc. A goalie that I like was supposed to be signing autographs that day at a certain time and since we got there late, he got up to leave while I was still standing in line. Well, I was not going to be deterred from getting what I wanted so I hopped over the velvet ropes to get out o line and chased the guy down to get my autograph! I think there was a point in there. ;P

it's more about finding out the truth and realizing that you don't have to be perfect.

Correct. I like you anyway. :) ;P

And how is your weekend going?

It is HOT. Ungodly hot, like feels-like 94F degrees hot. I'm trying to keep the A/C from freezing over since QoH likes to keep it really cold. I also have to cook some chicken and hamburgers later. They are defrosting in water ATM. I don't look forward to having to use the oven and grill later. :/

I'm tired of the awful weather here. I wish I lived in Maine or something.

That's what I figured.

I think there was a point in there. ;P

That sometimes you get lucky? :)

I like you anyway.

Because that's one kind of adequacy that is within my reach. :)

I'm tired of the awful weather here.

At least it's reasonable weather inside the house. Not hot anyway. We're having some rather nice weather over here. Sunny but not very warm. Good weather for a short walk.

I don't look forward to having to use the oven and grill later. :/

Are those solar grills popular in Florida? I'd kinda expect that with so much sunshine.

So many snarky comments I could make... ;P

We're having some rather nice weather over here.

So lucky. It's miserable here. I had to clean out the massive amount of leaves that were in the kennel/storage yesterday. Even though it was in the shade and there was a bit of a breeze and I was wearing a tank top, it was still terribly hot. I was trying to move slowly but I had to move crap to get all the leaves out. Even that small amount of exertion had me sweating like crazy. :/

I've been seeing the nice weather in the NE of the country and it makes it just that much worse being here. :/

Are those solar grills popular in Florida?

I don't think I've ever seen one. Most peeps have a nice propane-powered one. I have an el cheapo Weber one that uses charcoal. It's basically a hibachi.

I'd kinda expect that with so much sunshine.

That is a myth created by Chambers o Commerce and Yankees who come down during their winters. It's nice when the rest of the country is frozen, but as soon as winter is officially over it's like someone flips a switch here and it returns to hot, humid, and rainy. It should be called the Miserably Hot and Humid State not The Sunshine State. ;P (Or the Wild Thunderstorms and Killer Lightning State ;P)

So did you have a nice walk today? I would like to be there to join you, but unfortunately I don't get to do pleasant things. Ma Nature dropped in today for her visit. :/
