I'm "Spoiled"

This is something that QoH accuses me of from time to time. Just for the sake of accuracy, I looked up the dictionary definition of spoiled:

Spoiled: past tense of spoil, to impair the character of (someone) by excessive indulgence.

Hmm, and what, pray tell, is meant by "excessive indulgence"? Let's see:

Indulge: 1. to yield to or gratify (desires, feelings, etc.) 2. to yield to the wishes or whims of; be lenient or permissive with. 3. to allow to follow one's will or inclination: to indulge oneself in reckless spending. 4. to yield to an inclination or desire; indulge oneself (often followed by in)

Indulgence: 1. the act or practice of indulging; humoring. 2. the state of being indulgent. 3. indulgent allowance or tolerance. 4. something indulged in.

Well, that doesn't sound remotely like the way I've been treated my whole life. Ya know who it *does* sound like? Yep! QoH! Like I've said before, she does more projecting than an IMAX theater.  >:(

It's all so infuriating.

If that's true then you might as well spoil yourself. :)

Just treat yourself to the best of what ever you can treat yourself to and enjoy the hell out of it. :)

I've actually been to one of those (a couple of decades ago). A place called "De Beekse Bergen" had/has one. It was quite impressive. They also had a small lake where you could do some windsurfing. And a wild animal area that had lions and such in it.

she does more projecting than an IMAX theater.

Hey, if you shove a DVD in your mom's butt and stick a candle in her mouth will she then be able to project movies onto the wall? ;P

I will need a job and some moneyzzz first before I can do that. ;P

I *have* occasionally splurged on a couple things for myself in the past. Actually, to most, they weren't much of a splurge. I think the most expensive item I bought for myself was my Fender electric guitar/amp kit. I think it was around $250 on sale. QoH had a fucking *FIT* over that, probably because she didn't buy it for me and couldn't use it as leverage(all gifts from her belong to her still in her mind, she just lets you use them until she gets pissed off about something). Also the purchase was a big middle finger to CB. I had told her that I wanted to buy a decent guitar and learn how to play and she told me it wasn't a priority that I should save the money to be able to get away from QoH. Well, $250 isn't going to get me away from QoH and I almost never buy anything other than clothes for myself, so there. ;D

The next thing I want to treat myself to is a new watch. Something stainless steel with a chronometer and self winding preferably. Even *that* isn't really a treat since I still need a new on to replace my old one. :/

I've actually been to one of those (a couple of decades ago)

Yeah, me too. When I was in h/s with my friend B. She had a car and she took me to different cool places from time to time. It must really be something when they show some of the new sci-fi movies. :) The one I went to was in Ft Lauderdale and it is part of one of the museums. After we came out of the movie we went into the museum and looked at various little critters(there was a guy walking around with a big yellow python)and played with the science exhibits.

I see that it has gotten consistently cold where you are but not enough for snow. At least you don't live in Buffalo, NY! ;P

I guess you can put "splurging" on your list of motivations then.

she just lets you use them until she gets pissed off about something

What are some of the things she's taken away from you?

$250 isn't going to get me away from QoH

So how much money would it take?

self winding preferably.

Wouldn't one that runs on batteries suffice? Those things last a year or longer.

I see that it has gotten consistently cold where you are but not enough for snow.

You are correct, my lady. I would not want to go outside without my trusty winter coat.

What are some of the things she's taken away from you?

Off the top of my head, the 2 biggest things are my other computer(when I tried to move out the first time she wouldn't allow me to take it even though it was mine and I used it exclusively, she wouldn't even know how to turn it on) which is broken now and then the biggest item is the car. It was supposed to be my car but when we went to go buy it the peeps at the dealership said that we could buy it with 0% financing if it was bought in QoH's name because she was older, better credit, etc so I agreed to it assuming that she was going to hold up her end of the deal and put it in my name when it was paid off. That never happened. It's just one more means of control.

Speaking of control, we've been arguing almost every day...big fight yesterday and then another smaller one today in which some truth came out(like yesterday, she screamed at me 'I fucking HATE you!' It was like watching a spoiled child throw a tantrum--Narcs are very much like that--they control through fear and manipulation the same way a brat does.). I brought up the fact that I'm the only one still here to put up with her bullshit and she replied with "...because you have nowhere else to go." And gave me an evil sneer. Sometimes the truth comes out. I've pretty much known that the way she raised me was for me to always be dependent on her so that I would never be able to leave and she would always have control over me. She systematically trapped me here and can abuse me with impunity because she knows that I have nowhere else to go. That's fucking evil. Well, I got news for her, that's just more motivation for me to get the F outta here. >:(

So how much money would it take?

Technically zero. I could call my dad and be outta here immediately, but I don't want to live with him because he is as crazy as she is, just a different variety of crazy. She also hit a low blow with that when she said her 'you have nowhere to go' comment by throwing in 'you didn't even last a day with your father' remark and evil sneer. I fucking hate her. She is evil personified. Who the F does things like that to their own child?

I just don't know what to do. I basically have no means of independence. I need a steady job first so that I have financial independence. No one is just going to take me in for free.

Those things last a year or longer.

My old one ran on batteries. When I was a customer at this one particular jewelry store, one of the clerks used to replace them complimentary, but QoH had to ruin that by getting it into her crazy head that he ripped her off by switching out a necklace that she had bought with a smaller weight one, then she hasn't gone back to that store and she badmouths them that they are thieves even though the receipt that she had conformed to the weight and length of the one she bought. O_o Anyway, I'm tired of paying $5 every year for a new battery.

without my trusty winter coat.

And do you have a trusty warm hat, too? Maybe some ear muffs? ;P

BTW, earlier today when I was arguing with QoH, I brought up the fact that she was the one who brought her useless ex-BF here and, get this, she says to me, "He's not mine, he's yours! You brought him here!" I was like, are you *effing* serious? WTF kinda logic is that?!? And she *was* serious! That one just kinda blew me away. That's serious spoiled child kinda logic...'No I didn't, you did!' Seriously, WTF? That's beyond rewriting history and gas lighting as the truth is easily provable. We're venturing into some real Twilight Zone territory here. O_o

Nah, they're not particularly popular over here. :)

I brought up the fact that she was the one who brought her useless ex-BF here

Sounds like it, yes. Unless she's really starting to go nuts. What would you do if your mother became officially insane?

Yeah, okay, but realistically?

As expensive as everything is here, I'd probably need to make at least $1500/month just to be able to support myself with rent, electric, utilities, car insurance, gas, food, etc. I've never made that much consistently in my life.

Why did you bring it up?

She was back to her fall-back beating-a-dead-horse-that-never-existed crap that I 'new CB was a lesbian and sought her out on the internet' so I just brought up some cold hard reality that she sought out her loser, genuinely was obsessed with him, and actually brought him here to live. None of those things can be disputed. You can go ask the neighbors if he lived here and they will say 'yes'.

Just for the record, I didn't 'seek out' CB. It was a chance encounter on the intertoobs. I used to read this one rather popular political blog over 12 years ago and CB occasionally commented there and used to get lots of praise from the other peeps who hung out on that site. All those peeps seemed really smart to me at the time. IDK, it was kinda like having peeps who I looked up to. I discovered CB had a blog and once in a blue moon I would work up the courage to comment there. Then, IDK what happened, but she was going to make her blog private and told peeps if you wanted to continue to read it to leave a comment and she'd add you to the user list, so I did. I was surprised that I was accepted. Anyway, long story short, I didn't think of myself as friends with her or anything, just someone who I'd occasionally drop a line in comments with(kinda like the way I do at Stoaty's blog--I read it occasionally and play dead pool, but I don't view myself as being close friends or anything). She eventually wrote about moving to another state and I guessed that it was Florida. I had written that she could call me or email me and I'd be happy to fill her in on stuff about down here. I didn't think she actually would, I was just being polite. Anyway, she turned out to be a nut. Talking to her on the phone or PMing she seemed normal, but in person it was a different story. She definitely has some sort of PD, maybe borderline or antisocial. :/

What would you do if your mother became officially insane?

I doubt that there will ever be an official diagnosis. I think she knows that the way she acts would be considered crazy so that is part of the reason why she stopped going to her doctor for her checkups. If she was somehow officially diagnosed, IDK. I don't know what the procedure for that is. Maybe they'd put her in assisted living or something.

I suppose there is some sort of roommate finder thing on the intertoobs, but I'm leery about living with someone I don't know. Many things could go wrong.

Do you really need a car?

Yes. Living here and getting around is almost impossible without one.

Aaaarrrgh, I'm tired of this topic. Why can't QoH be normal?(rhetorical question ;P)

Anyhoo, last night there was some free MMA on--the undercard to the Hendricks vs Lawler rematch. The first fight was wimminz--Raquel Pennington vs Ashlee Evans-Smith. Rocky was supposed to fight Holly Holm in this one(Holm's UFC debut), but Holm got a neck injury--herniated disk IIRC--that was causing her to lose feeling and use of her arm. :/

Ashlee I saw fight before when she beat the crap out of that transsexual Fallon Fox. The girl is pretty tough. I like Rocky as she seems like a good person, but she isn't the best all-around fighter IMO.

First round, Ashlee was dominating most of it while Rocky was still scrapping and refusing to give up. At the last minute of the round, it ended up on the ground and somehow Rocky got her arm around Ashlee's neck for a Bulldog Choke. It was only seconds before the round was over and they went immediately to commercial at the horn. I was so pissed! Did she submit her before the round ended? It turned out, yes! Ashlee was out cold a split second before the round ended as shown on the replay. Great fight even if t was only one round.

I doubt that Rocky would have had the same outcome vs Holm. I'd rather see Holm fight someone I don't like as she usually knocks peeps out. :O

I forgot to add that Ashlee split Rocky's head open with a knee strike about halfway through the round. It looked like a vertical coin slot and was leaking blood everywhere. Both fighters were covered in blood by the end. While Rocky was choking out Ashlee, the blood was steadily dripping all over the mat.

The older I get, the more I like the idea of Jujitsu and other grappling arts. My face is too nice to get all mangled up like that. :)

While true, and you would know ;P, it's still a valid point. You've never lived here. It's Scam City USA. :/

Don't they normally end a fight when that happens?

It depends on where the cut is and how bad it's leaking. In this case, it was right in the middle of her forehead. If it had been directly above her eye or deeper than it was(or spewing more blood) then they would have had a doc look at it. In the case of the Leslie Smith fight(IIRC her surname), she was in danger of losing her ear, so they had to stop it.

Cleavage can by definition not be Evil!

Well, there will be no more Elizabeth Mitchell Evil Cleavage since her character is no mas. And no more EQ Evil Cleavage as she is back to being Regina(although Regina still likes to put it all on display with too many buttons undone). ;P

Well, since you are still here, you were not bad enough for Swarte Piet to take you to Spain? ;P

I think you may have found the magic formula there. :P

I've been tot the Diabetes doc today for a check up and things were not entirely positive. Certain values were way too high as it turned out after a test of my blood. But that was not unexpected and I had already started taking countermeasures last week. My toes seem to be okay but they still feel weird, as if there is a blister underneath each toe. Oh, and I'll be having my blood tested every 3 months for a while just to see if my values improve.

Hey, it seems QoF is crazier than usual? What's up with that? Did something happen?

IDK, maybe age related. Narcs don't age well according to what others have said at the PD forum. They get worse with age(unlucky me). They reeeally get crazy when they feel they are not in control. QoH watches stupid cable news all day long and marinates in all that negativity(nothing of which she can control)so I think it brings out the worst in her. I also read an article about narcs and it said that they suffer from pathological envy. Hooooo boy, doesn't *that* describe QoH to a T! She is obsessed with what other people have, their jobs, etc and it just makes her even more mental. :/

Oh, forgot to tell ya, the lady that I'm supposed to work for on Boxing Day is having a thing the following day as well and I also got another one for 2 days before Christmas. :)

I wasn't planning to, I hadn't thought about it actually, but QoH got all pissy and asked me very nastily, "Are you going to put up the tree and nativity?" so I ended up doing it. Took me all of 5 minutes. IDK, I kinda resent decorating. It's all BS to me. How am I supposed to be happy and feel like celebrating anything when my life sucks and I'm basically a prisoner of someone who I can't stand?

it's just for the gigs, right? It's not like you have to eat it as well?

The gigs have nothing to do with it since the clients are Jewish. The turkey I'll be cooking for my own dinner. QoH is such an idiot with all the conspiracy nonsense. She has been buying an extra turkey because 'the govt isn't going to allow you to have them anymore' each year for the past few years and they get put in the freezer. Then the following year we defrost the one that has been sitting in the freezer for a year and eat that one(which tastes like crap since it's freezer burned)and put the fresh one in the freezer to repeat the process.

QoH's new ridiculousness is to inspect each piece of food for blemishes and whatever and then proclaim that it's GMO or a parasite that the govt put there to kill people. More food gets wasted because of her nonsense. The last turkey we made for Thanksgiving got the same treatment. She flat out refused to eat it so I only managed to eat one whole breast and thigh and the rest got thrown out. There is another turkey frozen that was bought the same time as that one which I'll likely throw out and then the new one that we bought just before Thanksgiving I'll cook for Christmas. QoH will likely refuse to eat that one as well. It really pisses me off because money and food is wasted because of her paranoia and hoarding.

She is also paranoid of talking on the phone(land line or cell) because 'the govt records all the conversations' and also for work she likes to leave like an hour earlier than the normal time it would take to get to work because 'anything could happen on the road'. For example, if it takes 20 minutes to get to a place, a normal person would maybe give an extra 10 minutes, so you'd leave 30 minutes before you have to be there. QoH now likes to leave 1.5 hours before you have to be there. It means me having to suffer longer having to be in the car listening to all her nonsense. :/

I hate to quote George Lucas here (and trust me, I really hate to do that :) but as the guy said “Always remember, your focus determines your reality.” As long as your basically trapped, focusing on the nice things may make your reality more bearable.

which tastes like crap since it's freezer burned

Couldn't you quietly set that turkey free, as it were? And pretend it didn't exist? As long as she doesn't check on the bird actually being in the freezer, this should work out well. :)

There is another turkey frozen that was bought the same time as that one

It's just waiting to be set free... ;)

You should get yourself an mp3 player, one of those cheap, small ones with ear-buds. You can just listen to music or one of those meditation tracks while she's jabbering. :)

Trust me, she'd know.

When I was a kid I used to do that. (I had a Walkman back then ;P) I could get away with it because I wasn't the only on in the car, I was kinda like the potted plant that was ignored. Now, I'm expected to listen to her monologs and then at the end she'll say, "Do you agree?" and then at that point I am to answer 'yes' or 'no' (the correct answer is 'yes' or else there will be an argument). And if I tried that she'd go ballistic on me.

Ya know, that's pretty much the NPD's main tactic in a nutshell--verbally beat you into submission. There is no reasoning with someone who is unreasonable. Even if I argue with her, it goes nowhere. She just keeps plodding forward until you give up. :/

I can't imagine anyone verbally beating you into submission. Or beating you in any other way for that matter. :)

Logically then the only winning move is not to play. :)

I just watched "The Lone Ranger" and it was a lot of fun. I can't really understand why this movie was so disliked by the critics when it came out.

Oh, have I mentioned that I got a letter from the SS guy? I've got an appointment on Monday for a meeting with him and someone who's supposed to have a work offer that suitable for my kind of people. I'm not yet shitting my pants but I'm not optimistic either.

"The Lone Ranger"

I haven't seen it. IIRC I think part of the hate was due to the "anti-gun" themes and Depp's over-acting. Like I said, I can't really comment since I haven't seen it.

Monday for a meeting with him and someone who's supposed to have a work offer

Sounds good to me. ;P Good luck with all that! :)

I mowed the lawn earlier. It didn't really need it but it was a good excuse to get out of the house and away from QoH. The 'away from QoH' didn't last as she had to come out to monitor me as I was edging and leaf blowing(last 30 minutes). Then she got all in a huff and went into spoiled toddler mode when I was putting my equipment away because she decided herself to pick a bunch of dead fronds off the philodendron and then didn't want to walk around to the trash bin herself. So the minute it took me to put the equipment away was apparently too long for me to expect Her Majesty to stand there and hold dead fronds. When I came out she was all huffy and said something nasty so I said, "GIVE THEM TO ME!" and then I tried to take them. She then went into full toddler mode and pulled them out of my reach and kept playing 'keep away' with them. Then she starts saying something about 'you don't tell me to get out of the way!', well I didn't, I said 'give them to me'.

I told her she was acting like a toddler and then she started calling me names(which I pointed out was typical toddler behavior) and then I went in the house. I'm not playing ridiculous games with her. She was then forced to put the fronds in the trash all by herself like a big girl. ;P

Anyway, I'm in MMA heaven the last few days. TUF final ep + finals last night + more MMA tonight. :)

Hey, is it true that "kraken" means 'to break' in Dutch? Because I was thinking about that as a new fighting nickname for myself. Ya know how I like double meanings. :)

I was thinking of my new style as octopus-like, so "The Kraken" would be kinda badass.

Ah, your mother must be going through her Terrible Twos. ;P

According to this website you should "expect that you'll occasionally lose patience with each other. Try to stay calm, however. When your child has a temper tantrum, offer comfort or ignore the behavior. Try to limit your use of the word "no." Instead, use other forms of discipline, such as redirection or humor. Also, consider avoiding challenging situations — such as going shopping during your child's nap time — and be sure to praise your child for appropriate behavior."

;P

is it true that "kraken" means 'to break' in Dutch?

Sort of. I'd say "to wreck" would be a better translation.

I'm curious as to what this new style entails specifically? :)

I swear I *am* trying my hardest just to let her do her monologs and I just stay silent. It's reeeeeally hard. :/

"to wreck" would be a better translation.

Ooooooh, that's even better! ;P

I'm curious as to what this new style entails specifically? :)

Well, like a true kung fu practitioner, I was thinking about how the different styles of kung fu were developed by observing the fighting tactics of various animals. For example, my sifu used the story that I told him about the gorillas at the zoo as part of how he developed Walu.

So I was thinking about how some of the grappling techniques are like being wrapped up like an octopus which led me to doing a little research on octopuses. It seems that octopuses are very Xul-like: they are very intelligent, tricksy, strong, and can be very difficult to deal with and if you feed them substandard food, they will cram it down the drain pipe and then glare at you. ;P And it seems that an octopus can snap a shark's backbone. So they are badasses. ;P :)

Anyway, the "new" style would consist of some of the strategies I learned from my kung fu classes as well as some theories that I learned from Bruce Lee's Tao of Jeet Kune Do. There is a fight theory that when you fight an opponent that is good at striking, that you want to get in close to them so that their striking is ineffective--like wrapping them up how an octopus would do.

Also I noticed in MMA when things get taken to the ground, to me it seems like the best strategy sometimes(if you are on the bottom)would be to wrap up your opponent who is on top of you so that they cannot strike or attempt anything. The ref will eventually stand it up if there is a stalemate.

It would use all the joint locks and submissions like in Chin Na and Jujitsu. It's not really a new style, but just being really relentless and sticking close and taking the opportunities that are presented to you. Just basic traditional concepts that seem to be lacking in mainstream MMA.

Another thing that I noticed is a lot of fighters tend to rely on their arm strength to pull of choke holds when they should be leveraging their bodies to use their body weight or their opponent's weight against them.

I was a bit disappointed last night with the Joe Riggs/Ben Saunders fight. Riggs is a scrappy old timer and Saunders is a Jeet Kune Do guy(who has really good grappling/submissions). It would probably have been an excellent fight except for Riggs somehow pinched a nerve when he attempted to slam Saunders in the first minute. He tapped out because he said he couldn't feel his arm. :/

Why is that, you think? Are the fighters just uneducated oafs? :P

I was thinking about that as a new fighting nickname for myself.

Why was that BTW? Are you planning a career change?

And who are you going to test your new style on? :)

Well, I've had my conversation with SS Guy and Work Offer Guy. We've decided we're going to wait and see what psychotherapy will accomplish before turning me into a dancing monkey.

Damn, that talk was pretty rough. Just thinking about it is still making me twitch in revulsion.

I think in traditional styles there is a bit of fight theory taught whereas in MMA gyms they seem to just teach basic fighting techniques. I can't really say for sure since I've never trained in a MMA gym, but it's just some subtle things I pick up on when they say a fighter trained in a traditional style before doing MMA. It's like the difference between self taught musicians and those who have learned music theory. I can tell the difference.

And who are you going to test your new style on? :)

Too bad you're not here for me to experiment on. ;P

Damn, that talk was pretty rough.

You could say nothing special happened. But to someone like me even ordinary things can be... upsetting.

Basically the same thing happened that happens every time they call in a new person on my case. He asked me a lot of questions to try and figure out who I am and what they can do to "re-integrate" me into society. It's starting to lose it's meaning to me, that whole procedure, but it's also upsetting because I'm worried that this new guy doesn't get it, doesn't get what I am. He's in a position of authority and he can disrupt my life completely if he chooses so. I guess, now, I'm just glad he's not an idiot and that he wants to see what the headshrinker can do.

Anyway, next stop is on the 2nd of January, in the incredible shrinking office.

Hey, how was OUAT BTW?

Yeah, I *do* remember what that is like, although it almost seems like that wasn't me, but it was. I know how it sucks. I'm sorry you still get that feeling. :/

He's in a position of authority and he can disrupt my life completely

Yes, that is definitely worrying.

I'm just glad he's not an idiot

That's good at least.

Hey, how was OUAT BTW?

Not too horrible, but I'm not sure what to think about them bringing in 3 Big Bads for 3B. Kristen Bauer is back as Maleficent, but they've also added Cruella De Vil and Ursula(who is now a thin black woman and not a fat drag queen looking octopus-woman :/). I'm hoping the story line doesn't get too ridiculous.

Anyway, I've started reading a 100+ chapter fanfic that I was waiting to be finished before starting. The author finally finished it a few days ago. I was a bit hesitant to start reading one that is so long. I'm getting tired of waiting around for other stories that I'm following to be updated, so if I start reading a new one, I'd like it to be a finished one. I've read other stories by this author and she's usually pretty good. I'm already 36 chapters in(started last night)and I'm not disappointed. :)

Hey, I hear John Ellis "Jeb" Bush may run for President in 2016. What's your take on this guy?

Well, you can see her on the animated Disney movie The Little Mermaid. I'm kinda disappointed that they totally changed the character. Best part of that movie IMO.

Wow, that's long. How long is each chapter?

It's well over 200,000 words, so it averages to between 2,000-2,500 words per chapter. I'm almost finished with it--up to chapter 87 already(112 in total). It basically a re-write of the end of season 1 and beginning of season 2--curse breaking and then Gold going to find Bae without all the 'memory loss at the town line' crap and other stupid plot devises. It's basically more interpersonal character interactions and cutting all the stupid crap.

What's your take on this guy?

::groan:: I'd rather cut off my arms before I pulled the lever for him. >:(

Anyway, he was the governor of Florida before and I guess he was okay at it. I didn't really pay much attention to politics back then, BUT! I do now! ;D I'm reeeeally tired of Bushes. Jeb is all for allowing all the illegals to get legal status(which puts citizens out of work) and he is all for the stupid "Common Core" school curriculum because he has interests in the company that does the testing for Common Core(and stands to make oodles of moolah off it). He's not a conservative like they claim he is. Anyway, I've been saying for a long time that the elections here are a choice between two candidates who are basically just as bad as the other so that no matter which one is elected, the outcome is pretty much the same. :/

Does it? I mean, the illegals are already here, takin' yer jobs, and giving them legal status would not change much, it seems to me. It might mean that employers will have to pay them more, I think, illegal employees tend to be cheaper.

the stupid "Common Core" school curriculum

What do you think is stupid about it? Too expensive? Too much federal power? Is there something wrong with the curriculum itself or its' standards?

He's not a conservative like they claim he is.

He's a faker? :)

In other news, it looks like I'll be spending the weekend in my sisters house, babysitting 2 of her kids, while she's be spending said weekend in Cologne, Germany with her husband. I just hope it won't be too boring being trapped in that house for 2 days.

They all get plenty of moolah from the same powers that be.

illegal employees tend to be cheaper.

That's the point. It forces down the wages and also(I don't have time to get into it)forces citizens to take part time jobs(because of all sorts of intricate tax policies). Basically, it brings down the quality of life.

Is there something wrong with the curriculum itself or its' standards?

Yes, the curriculum and the teaching methods, especially in regards to mathematics, is completely illogical and nonsensical if you actually want anyone to learn anything. If you *don't* actually want anyone to learn and therefore necessitate the need for endless testing(which ol' Jeb has a monetary interest in), then it makes perfect sense.

He's a faker? :)

He's a politician. Fake is part of the definition, I believe. :)

Cologne, Germany

That's the place with the rather impressive-looking cathedral, is it not?

Lucky bastards. I wish I was going to someplace cool. :/

Is you're sis' place really that boring? With 2 kidlets? I'm sure you can find *something* to do. ;D Likely lots of video games in your future. ;P

Anyway, I'm nearly done with the loooong fanfic--only 2 chapters to go! And my FF friend is back home so I need to read an update of hers and then go leave a smartass reply. ;)

In other news, the incompetent postal service neglected to deliver my credit card bill last month, so today I received a past due bill along with the statement and an overdue charge + interest charge. I wasn't going to pay for their mistake so I had to call customer service.

It was a triumph of sorts over my previous anxiety issues as I would usually get so anxious over having to do that that I'd feel like I wanted to puke. Anyway, I managed to do it today with a minimal of anxiety. The agent I spoke to was a very nice young lady and I explained the situation and what I'd like to happen(take off the fees and give me a credit) since I'm a loyal customer and never miss payments. She obliged without fuss and the whole interaction was nothing but pleasant. I thanked her and told her she was lovely and at that point she got a bit flustered and giggly. Which brings me to another point...I guess peeps just aren't used to being told they're lovely? IDK, I guess it's not a term much used any more? I wasn't flirting or anything, I was just being honest. A lot of customer service peeps can be less than friendly and helpful. IDK, I guess I'm getting old or something. ;P ::shrugs::

As it turns out, the planning is that I go there Saturday evening, spend the night and then go back home late Sunday afternoon. It should be doable. :)

I'll be taking my laptop with me in any case.

Why do you have a credit card? I usually just pay either in cash or electronically. Can't seem to find a need for a credit card. :)

I guess peeps just aren't used to being told they're lovely?

Could be, I guess. Could be a local thing. I don't know where the CC company's callcenter is.

I guess I'm getting old or something

Well, it is something I'd expect somebody's grandmother to say, "You're a lovely young girl, dear." ;P

Can't you just look it up? ;P

Okay, I don't remember exactly off the top of my head, but basically the gist of it was instead of teaching the fundamentals they were trying to jump to the mental shortcuts that an adult would do. But it was worse than that as the example I saw took straight addition and instead of making it two steps, it dragged it out into like 10 steps. I was like WTF? It just didn't make any sense.

Why do you have a credit card?

I have had it for almost 20 years. I use it for online purchases and for one bill. CC offer pretty good fraud protection.

I'd expect somebody's grandmother to say, "You're a lovely young girl, dear." ;P

I'm almost tempted to say it's too much OUAT/Regina-type verbiage, but my friend K and I have been talking like that for a loooong time. I guess it's just the British influence. Maybe too much Rex Harrison back in the day...all My Fair Lady/Wouldn't It Be Loverly stuff. ;P

Anyway, have fun with the kidlets! ;D

Hi there. Sorry for being late. Too much fun with the kidlets, I suppose. :)

Those inconsiderate smart-asses had surreptitiously re-purposed the downstairs TV as part of their Xbox 360 after the parents had left. And the TV upstairs in the game room is used for playing on the XBox one so it looks like I wouldn't be able to watch any TV shows that evening. Luckily there wasn't anything on that I wanted to watch and the oldest nephew had to work till 10 in the evening so I could entertain myself playing games on the Xbox one while middle nephew played on the 360 downstairs.

I just woke up half an hour ago after a good night sleep and all I have to do is surf the internet. First thing I do is talk to you of course. :)

So what are *you* doing this weekend? Are you preparing for the gigs? Is OUAT still on TV tonight?

Kids. Harumph! ;P LOL Sounds like you had your hands full. ;) Sooo, wasn't too boring then? ;P

Awww, totes adorbs! I wish I could have talked to ya for reals last night, I was sooooo bored! There hasn't been much on the TV or much to do. There weren't any fun new fanfics to read so I was just scrolling through some of my favorite authors and reading some really old ones from like season 1.

So what are *you* doing this weekend?

QoH has been seriously procrastinating with "working on the gigs" (writing out the menus/schedules) and she gets really annoying when she's putting stuff off. I tried to get away from her by going outside and digging up some plumosa vines and cleaning up fallen branches from the mango tree, but she always has to come out intermittently to bother me. :/

Then while I was outside, she again came to find me to tell me that my dad was at the front door, so I just walked around to the front with shovel in hand. He had 3 tiny wrapped Christmas gifts for me and I talked to him for a few minutes and then he left. I didn't open the gifts, I figured I'd wait until Christmas. I'm guessing there might be a watch in one, but probably a cheap one(my dad would never buy something expensive). I wish he'd just give me money. Peeps aren't too good at buying me things that I like. Giving me money ensures that the money isn't wasted on something I don't like. ;P

Are you preparing for the gigs?

All I really need to do is make sure my clothes are ironed and my shoes polished. I'd rather just show up and figure things out from there than fret over it for weeks.

Is OUAT still on TV tonight?

Nope. It's on hiatus until March IIRC. It's okay, though. At least I won't have to worry about QoH making me miss it. ;P

Okay, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to stealthily open the suspect gift with my trusty dragon letter opener. I sliced through the tape on the one end so that I could take a peek inside. The box said Smith & Wesson on it and I was like WTF? So I carefully slipped it out of the wrapping paper without tearing it, and discovered that it was a S&W brand watch! A military-style one. Not really something I would have picked out for myself as it's a little bigger than my old one--maybe 42mm, my old one was 38mm--but the fact that it is S&W brand is pretty cool(and a nice accessory to my other fine S&W product ;P).

It's black stainless steel with a rubber wrist band and it has the moving bezel. The numbers are in red(not really my favorite look) but overall it's pretty cool and I didn't expect my dad to get something cool, so I'm kinda pleased. :)

I put it back in the box and slipped the paper back on and returned it to under the tree so no one will be the wiser. I'll definitely be thanking him for it. :)

Yeah, that's why we give money to the nephews as their birthday presents. They are getting some real presents for X-mas though.

Well, in this country we have this obscure little traditional fest we call "Christ-mas" :). I'll be spending some time with family on the 26th (sister/her husband/their kids) because of that. Presents will be unwrapped that day. There will be a nice dinner. Maybe some carolling (probably not).

I don't know about the weekend yet.

Well, have really nice Christmas Day tomorrow. :)

Oh! Nearly forgot! Yesterday, just as I was about to leave for the gig, my friend from Canada's mom called. IDK what she wanted. I guess I'll call her back today. I had planned to do it last night when I got in, but QoH drives so damn slow that it was later than I had anticipated, plus I was tired and had started getting a headache. :/

Anyhoo, a Merry Christmas to ya! :)

my friend from Canada's mom called.

I wonder what she wanted? Maybe she just called to wish you a merry Christmas? How do you know it was her?

Nah, just some ham steaks that I had frozen.

And you have fun with...

I'm not having fun. It's quite miserable. My parental units suck. >:(

How do you know it was her?

She left a message on the answering machine just before we left for the gig. I didn't have time to talk then, obviously.

I wonder what she wanted?

Well, after exchanging some pleasantries, she got around to telling me that she had found some duplicate photos of all of us and wanted to know if I'd be interested in having them. I said yes and told her I'd call her next week and maybe come by her place to pick them up. I'm sure QoH will be pissed off about that. She can't let me out of her sight for 5 minutes if I go outside, she'll flip when she finds out I want to go over there(she's getting more paranoid and possessive the older she gets). I'm sure she'll think I'll be talking about her or conspiring or some such thing. And I'm sure she'll have some nasty things to say about the lady and my friend and her family. :/

Have you opened any of the other presents yet?

Yes. They turned out to be 2 other ugly, cheap-looking watches, both giant men's size. QoH threw a fit and harped non-stop about how awful and cheap looking they were. She especially hated the S&W one.

Both my parents really can make me feel like shit--my dad because he thinks he's doing something nice, but he's such a cheapskate and so clueless about what to get(I have tiny wrists, I can't wear some huge men's watch and they're ugly and cheap-looking)and he just wasted a bunch of money on something I can't use when he could have just given me the money so I could buy something that I like, and then QoH's negativity and the way she carries on about how ridiculous and awful it all is and is just so damn relentless. It really makes me feel like shit. Why can't I just have a normal family?

Anyway, I called my dad and thanked him for the gifts, but told him that I hoped he kept the receipts because they were all too big and I can't wear them. The whole thing made me feel bad because he's trying to be nice and buy me something I needed, but then I have to call him and tell him that I can't use what he bought. I told he to just give me some money so I could buy something for myself. He wanted to know if he should come by here or if I wanted to come by his house.

Once again, I'm going to have a problem from QoH because either way she'll be pissed off. Anyway, once again I had to say I'd call next week to arrange something.

This is like one of the worst Christmases ever. I feel so awful because of the two of them. I hope you fared much better. Did you get anything good?

Okay, ya know what? I'm gonna keep the S&W watch. I think it's kinda cool even though it's big(45mm! 50mm if you include the crown!). It's a military style with the spinning bezel for doing that navigational thingy that they do, plus it has a Japanese movement and it's 30m water resistant. It's all black--rubber bracelet but the case is stainless steel painted black. Upon further inspection, it turns out that the numbers are actually a Dutch orange and not red, so I like that. ;P

And upon even further inspection, I managed to remove 2 links from the bracelet so it fits much better now. It'll piss QoH off, so even better. :)

It's not your fault. He brought this upon himself.

Are you hoping that he's trying to better his life? Are you worried that you're inadvertently sabotaging his efforts?

It was okay. I got a book and a shitload of chocolate. Not that that's a problem. :)

After some coffee we unwrapped the presents and spend most of the day playing card games.

The youngest nephew was a bit grumpy. They'd been to the other grandma and stayed up late. I can empathize though, lack of sleep tends to make me a bit grumpy too.

It'll piss QoH off, so even better. :)

I know that he's trying to be nice and buy me a watch because I said I need one and I know he means well, but he's generally clueless about my tastes. Then I feel like kind of a bitch for not liking the gifts. Well, I like the S&W one, it's just that it's kinda big(but it's doable now that I removed 2 links). The other huge one I'll give back. The third one I *might* keep if I can figure out how to remove a few links(the case wasn't as big as the others).

a shitload of chocolate

Well that sounds not half bad at all. ;D

lack of sleep tends to make me a bit grumpy too.

I will no doubt be grouchy Saturday as I have to be up at 6:30am to be at the gig by 8:45pm. :/

The gig tonight went well. It was a little hectic when we first got there, but I eventually got things organized. I burned my wrist trying to wrestle big foil pans out of the tiny little oven that the lady had. :/ Now I may have a burn scar on my left arm to match the one on the right(although that one is finally fading).

Ya know, I've made lots of moolah this week. If I could work 2 gigs like that per week I'd be doing pretty well. :)

The pie was room temperature. ;P

It was about 10 pounds of brisket with lots of gravy and I was trying to keep it from spilling since they bent the pans to make them fit in the oven. There was also grilled chicken, kasha varnishkas, quinoa & mushrooms, grilled veggies, and noodle kugel to rotate around.

Hey, it snowed overnight (and it's still snowing)

Kewl! I shall check it out. :)

Good luck on the gig

Thanks! I'm finished now. It went well. My feet are hurting from all the walking, though. It was kinda funny all the ladies from last night coming to check on my burn and see if I was okay and give advice. The one daughter(I guess she was probably in her 50's)even joked that she was "mothering" me. They were probably more concerned than my actual mother. :/

Peach. There was also an apple thingy in a casserole dish. The daughter who was in mom-mode sent a piece home with me and also some fruit and a large hunk of birthday cake. I also got a shit-ton of cookies, ruggalah, and some whitefish, tuna, smoked salmon, and rolls from the gig yesterday. :)

And how is your burn today?

It doesn't really hurt. I've been putting Neosporin on it and covering it with a bandaid overnight to protect it, then letting it get some air during the day. It's kinda eye-shaped. If it was a little lower it would look like the weird seer hand eyeball from OUAT. :/ It *might* leave a little scar, but maybe not. I think it only burned the top layer of skin.

Do you have any resolutions?

Nope. :)

I have not built a snowman or a snowdick-and-balls. It's already thawing again. Probably just as well. I don't think it would be a good idea to have a lot of snow on the streets at New Years Eve.

snowman or a snowdick-and-balls

Hehehe, I guess I'm the only one of us with an adolescent sense of humor. ;P

I don't think it would be a good idea to have a lot of snow on the streets at New Years Eve.

Well, I guess it's very considerate of Ma Nature to melt it all for ya...wouldn't want any drunken revelers to slip and bust their ass or wreck their cars on it. ;)

I guess you've been recuperating

Yep. I slept about 10 hours afterward and then stayed in bed most of the day yesterday. I haven't worked 3 gigs in one week in so long that my body just isn't used to it. And being so busy the past 2 weeks I haven't worked out at all. Last night I picked up the dumbbells for a quickie and my muscles were already getting tired quicker, so I just did one set of each thing. Then my left shoulder was hurting me just before I went to bed. :/

Anyway, I'm washing my bed sheets, comforter, and mattress pad today because they're well overdue for a good washing. I think after I get it done QoH wants to go to the post office and gas up her vehicle. :/

Well, I wouldn't go *that* far. ;P

Actually, there's a lot of snow that overnight froze into ice on the roof and when it thaws it tends to slide off the roof and fall to the ground. It makes a lot of noise and could damage something or someone.

Then my left shoulder was hurting me just before I went to bed. :/

Winter is coming? ;P

Arekino, you haz a mail. :)

I copy that. Reading you loud and clear. :)
