C'Moooooonnn, What's in the box?

I'm sitting here contemplating doing a Birthday post, but since that is more than two weeks away it seems a bit early for that.  Soooooo, what shall I write about?  I looked up to the top of my wall unit where I have a big brown box. I *know* that there are a couple original Star Wars Ewoks in there, but I couldn't recall what else.  Now I just had to know.  ;P

This is where I really really wish my legs were at least two inches longer--three would be ideal--but I'd settle for two.  I couldn't reach the bloody thing barefoot so I had to look around to find a pair of shoes with the tallest heels.  I had a pair of Doc's that fit the bill.  With those on and the help of a stick, I managed to get the box down.  Inside was the two Ewoks(Wicket and Wiley according to their respective tags), a Papa Smurf, a Puff the Magic Dragon, and a Pink Panther.  There was also a GI Joe tank and a big GI Joe Boat with several figures on board.  Satisfied, I put it all back.

Now I'm itching to take an inventory of my He-Man figures.  I had/have some pretty cool ones.

Anyway, where am I going with all this?  Since my b-day was coming up, I was just thinking of the stuff I like.  It makes it easier for peeps to get gifts when they know what kind of stuff I like.  ;P

Sci-fi and wizards and warriors and weaponry and medieval crap is a good start.  Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings stuff is good, too.  That Loki shirt down below.  If someone would like to pay for me to go see Arekino that would be excellent!(like that's gonna happen :/)  IDK, I'm sure I'll think of other stuff after I post this.  I was just getting tired of looking at the old post.  ;P

You'd have to get yourself a passport first, I think. :)

If I did want to get you something how would I go about doing that?

Plush stuffed dolls. Only the GI Joe ones are plastic. I have no idea who bought the Papa Smurf for me. I wasn't really into Smurfs. The Pink Panther was from my sister as she was a big PP fan. She might've got me the Puff, too. I don't really remember. It's been a looong time since I was a kid. ;P

What peeps would that be?

IDK, random peeps who happen upon this post? It could happen. ;P

You'd have to get yourself a passport first, I think. :)

I should've gotten it 8 or 9 years ago when a lady I worked with offered to take me to Punta Cana. It costs nearly double now than it did then. :/ (IIRC they're good for 10 years and it costs less to renew than to get it initially.)

If I did want to get you something how would I go about doing that?

You don't have to do that. I don't need a fight with QoH should I get something in the mail. But to answer your question, I think a lot of internet shopping places allow you to pay for something and they'll ship to a different address than yours. And you'd need *my* address, of course. ;P

In other news, it is rainy today. QoH wanted me to make some rye bread so I mixed up the ingredients and they are currently making their chemical reactions happen on top of the washing machine(warmest place in the house). In 3 or 4 hours I have to beat it into a dough and let it sit for another couple of hours. Then I'll knead it a bit and make a loaf or 2 and then bake it. Hopefully it'll turn out good. :)

And I think I'm getting to that midlife crisis point in my life. ;P I've been thinking about motorcycles, tattoos, and becoming an NRA instructor. (quite a combo) ;P

Hey, Arekino...do you have a good recipe for aardappel salad? I don't care for the one QoH makes. I prefer the Jewish or German style ones. How do you make yours(if you make one)?

Which variety? The roggebrood that we have usually looks like this.

There's something really rewarding about making bread. :)

Sounds like you want to join the Hell's Angels. :P

Why do you think about these particular things, you think?

do you have a good recipe for aardappel salad?

I almost never eat it actually so I'm not sure what constitutes a good recipe. The version I've had was, I think, a combination of mashed potatoes, minced: boiled eggs/pickled gherkins/pickled onions/bell pepper, mayonaise, yogurt(/kwark), salt, pepper, served chilled on a bed of lettuce often with deviled eggs as a side dish. It's often eaten in summer here.

Which variety?

The kind that the recipe from the back of the rye flour bag is? IDK, it was whole grain rye flour + regular bread flour + caraway seeds(and yeast, water, sugar, and honey). It took all damn day to make what with letting it sit several hours so the yeast could do its thing. Basically it had to sit for 4 hours, then beat, then sit another hour, then knead, then sit another hour, then shape into a loaf and bake. It was almost midnight by the time it was done baking. QoH was antsy to get at it but I told her it had to cool to room temperature before she could slice into it. ;P

She ended up going to bed before that happened. Of course when I got up today, she had already mauled it. It turned out pretty good. Much denser that the store bought ones since this had whole grain flour. It was yummy. :)

That roggebrood is thick and crunchy like a cracker? I think I've had something like that before. The one I made was like regular soft bread.

There's something really rewarding about making bread. :)

Now that I know what I'm doing it should be easier to make the next one. :)

Why do you think about these particular things, you think?

I guess because I've never been allowed to do all the crazy stuff that young people usually do. I've never had the college experience or been on my own to just make my own decisions and live life the way I want. I'll likely be like a couple I used to work with. She had kids when she was fairly young and worked all her life. Then when she was in her 50's she started going to the nude beach, got a tattoo, bought a red Mustang, etc and her husband bought a Harley(I think she bought one, too, but she couldn't pass the motorcycle licensing test).

And I've been watching a lot of those tattoo TV shows lately. I like a lot of the artwork, but I don't think I'd want anything permanent on me. The NRA thing I thought would be a kinda fun way to make some moolah. ;P

I'm not sure what constitutes a good recipe.

The one you've had sounds similar to the one QoH makes. :/ She always puts too much raw onion for my tastes. :/

I think I'll try the one in my Jewish cookbook. It has the mustard and vinegar like I like. :)

It's often eaten in summer here.

Same here. I always associate it with summer and picnics.

So are you having any midlife crises thoughts yet? ;P

It's not crunchy at all. It's soft and heavy and dense, and kinda moist.

So are you having any midlife crises thoughts yet? ;P

I seem to be immune to that. Then again most of my life has been in a crisis zone or something.

I wish it was for reals. Dayum.

Care to share? :)

I've been thinking about that REBT and it occurred to me that if it is true that how you think about something determines how you feel about it, that implies that the human mind is infinitely flexible and that emotions have no objective value. One could, for instance, imagine a situation where some people have the exact opposite emotional reactions to what one might expect, because of how those people think about an event.
As if their thoughts had magically been reversed. :)

Ah, okay. Like "party rye" that they make for hors d'oeuvres. The one I made was soft and dense and moist, but not as heavy as what you're describing since I used half regular white flour.

BTW, I made a coconut bread last night. It turned out okay(I was just following the recipe)but I could tweak it next time to make it better. :)

I seem to be immune to that.

So no motorcycles or wearing leather? Too bad. ;P

Care to share? :)

It's super weird to be woken up by the intense sensation of someone using their tongue near my lady parts. I wish I hadn't woken up, it felt really good. ;P

I've heard basically that same statement in regards to brain function before. Feelings aren't necessarily reality and so-forth.

So have you had any adventures in cooking(or elsewhere) lately?

Not lately. Hm, maybe I should consider a baking project.

I'm babysitting right now. Watching South Park with my 13 year old nephew. The Manbearpig episode. My sister has taken the rest of her family to a birthday party. The nephew is pretending to be the son of Dracula and I'm his Renfield. :)

I don't recall. Probably some religious program.

I neglected to mention that I made some delicious crepe skins the other night so that I could make some equally delicious spinach crepes with a bechamel sauce. Well, I *did* make them, but I'm going to make s'more since I have extra skins left over. :)

I'm his Renfield. :)

Do you have to call him 'Mah-sta' and eat bugs? ;P

I did call him 'Mah-sta' but refrained from eating bugs. Renfield is sort of like a comedic sidekick, I'd say. He's such a ridiculous groveling suck up of a Dracula fanboy. He's fun to play. :)

I am tired now though. Mosquitoes woke me up several times last night. Those little vampires tried to suck me dry dammit. My sister has a habit of keeping several windows open during the day and apparently mosquito season has already started. :/

LOL I remember going with some friends to see Bram Stoker's Dracula on Halloween when it came out. That particular Renfield was a trip.

Those little vampires tried to suck me dry dammit.

I shouldn't be feeling jealous of mosquitoes. :/ ;P

Actually, I hate the little bastards with a passion. One got me on the cheek just below my eye yesterday and I had to go to the store sporting a red mark. Most unattractive.

apparently mosquito season has already started. :/

It is mosquito season year round here. I'm still mystified by the lack of window screening over there. :/

Do you have anything fun planned this weekend? I think I'm supposed to climb on to the roof and try to patch some leaky spots. It's supposed to be in the low 90's F here so that should not be fun. :/

Oh, my sister did install window screens on most of the windows. Just not all of them... Like one downstairs... Where I sleep...

Do you have anything fun planned this weekend?

Not so much this weekend but it's Koningsdag Monday. People can sell their useless/interesting stuff in the park. My sister intends to be one of those people. Maybe I'll go pay her a visit there.
Koningsdag is the male version of Queens Day, related to the birthday of the former queen, and now the king. I'm sure most of the centre of town will be decorated with red-white-and-blue flags and orange banners.

It's supposed to be in the low 90's F here so that should not be fun.

I'm sorry to hear that. Still, getting those spots fixed is pretty important. Have you had a lot of water damage from them?

Most unfortunate. :/ Can't she get some for downstairs?

Koningsdag is the male version of Queens Day

I figured as much. I *am* learning my way around that Dutch vocabulary. :)

Have you had a lot of water damage from them?

"A lot" is a fairly relative term. There has been some damage in the dining room ceiling(kinda bad) and recently some in my bedroom. Truth be told, I don't really know what I'm doing and what I'm actually doing up there probably isn't doing much to stop the leaks. This house desperately needs a new roof and we do not have the money for that as it would probably be around $8,000 to do that.

Another problem that has arisen is the A/C is leaking water ATM. When that happens it usually means the coils are freezing up from running too much(it was 97F today, not 93F like they said it would be and it felt like 103F). The coils freeze up when they are dirty and they need to be cleaned. The problem with that is once again we don't have the money for them to be cleaned and secondly the last time the guy was out several years ago he said that the coils were not in good shape. I think they were getting corroded or something and probably need to be replaced which would be hundreds of dollars more that we don't have.

I'm seriously starting to despair. I *really* need a job but QoH is beyond paranoid and won't let me out of her sight let alone get a job. I know that sounds absolutely ridiculous for a supposed adult (me) to be saying. I just don't know what to do. I have no family or friends to turn to (as QoH wants it). I am utterly stuck and it fucking sucks.

When the roof start seriously leaking or the A/C breaks down permanently, something will have to happen. Unless your mother has some secret stash of money. How bad do things have to get before your mother sees the light, you think?

I really wanted to go outside today. The weather was fine. But, the local birch trees had a meeting and decided that today was the best day to start bringing out the pollen. And I got the serious sneezies. Damn.

IDK. To add insult to injury it seems the house has termites again. It needs to be tented/fumigated but there's no money for that.

She's the cause of the both of us being out of work to begin with--her and her nasty attitude. Nobody wants to deal with an employee like her.

I need a job so bad but it's so difficult when I've been isolated for so long. I don't even know where to begin. :/

The weather was fine.

Must be nice. It's scorching again today(but not quite as bad as yesterday). I wish it would hurry up and rain and maybe cool things off a bit. I hope the weather peeps are accurate about the temps going down to sorta normal by the end of the week. Lower 80's is much better than mid 90's.

I got the serious sneezies.

If this keeps up they're going to have to tear the house down sooner or later.

Yeah, I have a similar problem, I think. Are there no shops/restaurants that need people? Sometimes they put up a help wanted sign.

It must be terrible to have allergies.

Luckily this last only about a day. I went outside for a walk today and did take some pics but they were not very interesting.

Geesh, it just gets worse and worse.

Yep. It seems I'm cursed. The new disaster that occurred today is when I was watching the big 42" LCD TV in my bedroom just past noon, the picture suddenly went to snow. I thought it was the satellite receiver giving me problems, but when I went into QoH's room to mess with the receiver, everything was hooked up normally and the light indicating "TV 2" for my TV was on. I then used the remote for the TV to try to switch to antenna mode and that wouldn't work either. Then I tried a different input, namely the one for the old VCR and then I got a picture. So it seems the Cable/Antenna input in the back of the TV is on the fritz. That really sucks because running the satellite through the old analog VCR makes for a crappy picture. :/ Of course, I don't have the money to have it repaired or buy a new one. I'm wondering what is going to break next. >:(

Did you actually see termites

Yes, there were a few flying around inside and I've seen the tiny granules of wood that they leave behind, "termite dust" they call it.

If this keeps up...

Yeah, it'll probably happen after QoH kicks the bucket(if that ever happens) then the place will be worthless to me. :/

Are there no shops/restaurants that need people?

I wouldn't want to work in the immediate area where I live, it's quite the ghetto. And anyone hiring is only going to want to pay minimum wage. QoH has a fit over anything I suggest anyway.

Everything is my fault because I didn't take the real estate course that my neighbor across the street took several years ago when he was working for some dude doing auctions. Yeah, when would I find time to do that when back then I was working and my schedule was ridiculously erratic? And where would I get the money for it? The neighbor's boss paid for him to take that course. Incidentally, he no longer works for that guy. And somehow me taking a course is going to magically make me rich? Or magically employed? I'm not even interested in real estate. I don't have the personality for it.

I went outside for a walk today and did take some pics

At least you had a nicer time today than me. :)

Does the VCR get an analog signal? If not then why not circumvent the VCR and plug the cable directly into the TV?

No, that's gonna happen. Someday.

then the place will be worthless to me.

Or a money pit. What about the land that it's on?

Everything is my fault because I didn't take the real estate course

I guess that came up in a recent discussion with your mother?

It was originally plugged directly into the TV but for some reason that plug stopped receiving a signal. If you look on the back of a TV, there are different types of input plugs. The one for plugging in a coax-type for cable/antenna is suddenly not working, but the other input plugs like the A/V type are working. I'm going to see if Walmart has some kind of adapter that I can plug the satellite coax cable into and then it'll fit into the A/V type plug-in. IIRC, when the guy from the satellite company had to come out to program the new receiver in the kitchen, he used device like that to do it. I just need to find one.

What pisses me off is that if it wasn't for QoH and her bullshit, I could probably call my dad and ask if he'd pay to have it fixed. But they get along like the Ayatollah and Netanyahu. :/

What about the land that it's on?

It could be sold to some investment company in "as is" shape, but probably at a fraction of the value. :/

I guess that came up in a recent discussion with your mother?

Yeah, what a wonderful mommy to say such things. Nothing is ever her fault, ya know. She prevents me from doing normal adult things and then gets pissed off when I don't do normal adult things. :/

So what do you have the personality for, you think?

I'm good at doing boring repetitive stuff like putting stuff together where I don't have to interact with people.

Maybe you lack some tenacity?

I've never been allowed to "grow up" essentially. I've been socially isolated my whole life so I'm not very good at interacting with people in a normal way. Everything was always "top secret" with QoH when I was growing up. I wasn't allowed to discuss anything personal or family related with anyone or QoH would flip out, so I was always afraid to speak with anyone for fear of saying something "wrong" and getting berated for it.

When I was in school it was a bit different. At least I could be social with peers, but that was only 7 hour a day, 5 days/week. All other times I was under QoH's control. It was like living a double life. I'm not allowed to be myself around QoH because she's so hyper-critical of everything that I say or do. With her I'm not free to be myself or grow as a person.

Meh. It can be uncomfortable and awkward sometimes.

So what do you think it means to be "grown up"?

To make ones own choices and not be questioned and second guessed over ever decision or move and to be able to exist without being treated like a child. I just want to live my life. With QoH I live under her thumb and on her terms, not my own. I know it's hard for someone to understand unless they experience it themselves.

What's her most powerful tool for controlling you?

Her fucking mouth. She's critical and invalidating and never gives it a rest. It's like being emotionally beaten down and crushed.

At least you know there's a life to live outside QoH's influence. I guess we're back to the two basic choices you have: 1. Wait for QoH to die, or 2. Make a plan and escape.

Sure, but ideally I'd like to have some sort of full time job so that I would be away from her for most of the day and making money which is the biggest source of drama. Unless you have to deal with someone like her on a daily basis it's impossible to comprehend just how torturous it is. :/

Why not fight fire with fire?

Oh, don't think I don't verbally return fire, it's just that it's almost impossible to fight logically with someone so completely illogical and narcissistic.

To make any money at it I'd need commercial-grade equipment like a riding mower and a gas powered weed whacker and leaf blower. You have to be able to do the work fast enough to do several yards per day. To get a job with a company doing that they want to pay minimum wage or less. That is why the industry is dominated by illegals. Plus it's hard work especially in the heat and humidity.

try to have *some* fun this weekend, okay?

Earlier today I went to the neighbor's to use their computer to look up some grocery ads. Their house is hoarded up even worse than what QoH has done. At least with QoH it's mostly work equipment taking up most of the space. Over there it's like a real episode of Hoarders. :/

And their evil chihuahua never STFU the whole time I was there. She finally had to put her in one of the bedrooms(she should have done that to begin with).

There wasn't jack shit on TV today so I went out back and raked leaves again. Then I filled in a hole under the fence between ours and the next-door neighbor's property that his cats use to come under the fence to our yard so they can use our yard as their litter box. >:(

Yesterday when I went to Walmart they finally restocked the Earl Grey tea so I decided to pick up a box. When I went to pay, it rang up for 75 cents instead of $2.18 like it was priced as on the shelf. So I took my bags to the car and then came back in to buy 6 more boxes. Can't beat that price! ;P

No, just that the Publix ad takes forever to load with my slow-ass ISP. Theirs is fast. I did notice that they finally got Firefox as a browser. It seemed slow to start on their computer as well.

All? How many do you know?

Yep. All 2. Ya both seem to do a lot of Gaming, too. ;P

Well, I spent most of the day today mowing the yard and edging, weed whacking, and then blowing it all clean. While I was out edging, 2 older ladies in a Jeep pulled up and asked me for directions to an address as they were lost. I had seen them circle around earlier. I gave them directions and they thanked me and went on their way. 2 seconds later I hear QoH yelling from the back yard, "What did those two dykes want?!?"

Firstly, I was unaware of their sexual preference(not my obsession like some people ;P). They just seemed like 2 regular ladies albeit probably from somewhere in Central America by the looks of them. QoH was mad that I gave them directions. She said if it was her she would have told them she didn't know. She's a real asshole. What's the big deal with giving someone directions? Some of the streets around here go like a basket-weave pattern and if you're not familiar with it you can get turned around.

Secondly, QoH has some bizarre belief that all women who drive Jeeps are gay. I have no clue where she gets that idea from. Someone I went to school with drives a Jeep and she's married to a dude. I guess she is unaware that she's gay. ;P

Ya know, if I hadn't been so tired and was up for a fight with QoH, when she asked what "those dykes" wanted, I should have told her that they stopped because they thought I was pretty cute in my black tank top and desert fatigues and wanted to know if I wanted to come party. ;P ;D

I guess any interaction with them she would have frowned upon.

I have no clue where she gets that idea from.

Maybe she thinks of a jeep as a manly car because they were used by the army. She probably thinks of lesbians as being manly. Which is probably why she suspects you to be a lesbian. You do "manly" things like watching sports shows and working out.

Is your mother religious BTW?

So just your Fan Fiction writer friend and I? Does she live in the Netherlands?

Yep and yep. She hasn't been writing any OUAT fics for a while now. She's quite disgruntled over the show. I went to go look at her Tumblr to see what's up and she's apparently moved on to another show that I don't watch and then was complaining about work. Apparently she does web design and was in the midst of having to re-do a whole site's-worth of products for some company she was doing work for--and do it in English, Dutch, and German. Sounded tedious. :/ At least she works from home.

Ya know, I hadn't thought about it until you mentioned that, but I do recall QoH telling me about when she was a child that they didn't have a car, but when her mother finally bought one it was an old Willy's Jeep(I guess it was WW2 surplus). She used to go on about being soooooo embarrassed over it and that she wanted her mother to drop her off a block away from school so no one would see her in it. I guess it's some visceral response with her now and all her hatred/frustration/embarrassment has to be put on that object.

You do "manly" things like watching sports shows and working out.

And don't forget fixing things around the house(which is out of necessity). Ya know, she's a total PD and PDs always need a scapegoat to dump all their negativity on. I remember one time we had a gig years ago with a client who was mega wealthy. When she went to go collect payment, the client complimented me to her and said that I was "very competent". QoH always loved to have me as something to make herself look good(like taking credit for my abilities), and recalling it now, when QoH told me what the client had said, it was like she was both proud and envious at the same time. It just now dawned on me that a lot of her hatred for me might stem from envy of my abilities.

Anyway, me liking sports has a lot to do with my upbringing. She never wanted to be bothered doing stuff with me. I always had to play by myself. I remember one time I was so bored I asked her to come outside with me to play catch with a ball. She reluctantly came out and maybe tossed the ball once or twice and then huffed and puffed and said, "I don't have time for this," and then turned around and went back in the house and let me standing there. At least my dad was willing and enjoyed playing ball with me. Playing ball was really the only way to get attention from my dad so that's what I did out of necessity. And I was pretty good at it and got praise so naturally I gravitated toward sports.

Working out is another necessity. You don't want me to get fat and unhealthy do you? I don't. ;P

That's a question that's tricky to answer. When I was growing up, even though I was sent to a Christian school, my parents weren't particularly religious. We never went to church or anything. QoH only got "religious" whenever she was trying to manipulate my dad into doing something she wanted. (There's a particular thing that I'm recalling. I might tell you all about it one day.) My dad is not religious at all. QoH says he is an athiest but I've never heard him say that about himself. Anyway, she only recently in the past 3 years got "religious" again thanks to one particular religious network run by a preacher who was popular in the 80's. She's really gotten crazy in regards to gay people after watching this network all the time. Before it wasn't really an issue.

It reminds me of a thread at the PD site where they were discussing whether bigotry was a trait of PD peeps. Two of the commenters nailed it AFAIC, so well that I saved it to a document file. I quote:

"I think you could consider them 'bigotted' only in the sense that they need to have someone to hate and someone to be in open conflict with at all times. That might be the common PD trait you've identified?"

And referring to the above quote:

"I think you are spot on. They need someone to aim all that hate and conflict at. So I think family members are ideal targets for them, but it's useful to have others who maybe have a different colour skin or live a different lifestyle to use as well. I think it's all about USING whatever is available to let that hatred out on. My PD parents were like this, would rant for hours if we allowed it. Spitting full of hate. Horrible way to live."

IMO it's just scapegoating and projecting. They can never accept blame or responsibility for their actions or their part in a conflict and they can't seem to internalize it. It all has to be projected outward.

Anyway, to get back to the original question, she'd identify herself as Christian, but she certainly doesn't apply any of Christ's teachings to herself. Jesus would likely regard her as a hypocritical Pharisee. I've often thought about what would happen if Jesus suddenly appeared to her in the flesh. She'd likely not like him and would tell him he's wrong. LOL She wouldn't take too kindly to any rebuking either. ;P

I have no problem with you working out and no, I don't want you to get too fat and unhealthy. :)

Although a little body fat doesn't harm anyone.

They need someone to aim all that hate and conflict at.

So PD's are a kind of hate-zombies? "Muuuust haaaaate. Haaaate growzzz ssstrooonnggerrrrr." Like they eat hate for breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of brains. It's a food, it sustains them. NOM NOM NOM. :P

In a sense, you're her hate caterer. ;P

Well, tomorrow starts The Great Renovation. About 8 days of workmen invading our house in order to tear down and rebuild the bathroom and the toilet. They will start at 07:30 and consequently I will be getting up at 06:00. That way I will have ample time to do my usual morning stuff like eat, shave, brush my teeth and go the toilet. Have a casual cup of tea.
At about 08:45 I will escort my mother to my sister's house. My sister will be away at work. I will be at my laptop or entertaining my youngest nephew who will also be there.

I like food too much to stick to a body builder style diet, so I guess I'll be stuck with a little fat in places. :)

So PD's are a kind of hate-zombies?

So it would seem. :/

The Great Renovation...I will be getting up at 06:00

That sounds horrible. I myself was rudely awakened this morning at 5am by very loud thunder. :/

My sister will be away at work.

Is your sis still working the restaurant job or something else?

entertaining my youngest nephew who will also be there.

Does he not have school? And you are not required to entertain your mother? ;P

What will your father be doing? Monitoring the workmen?

So, 8 days of this inconvenience? What prompted them to do these renovations?

BTW, I was curious, do you do that Steam gaming thingy?
