Birthday Police

Sooooo Arekinooooo...

...The Birthday Police heard that you had a sub-par birthday and that birthday laws may have been violated.  Officer Naughty and Sergeant Sexy here are going to have to come by and question you about the activities(or lack thereof) that occurred and most likely detain you and give you a good frisking.  ;P

I think that you should give them your full cooperation or else they might get angry with you and have to take you down. And they might rub their boobehs on you in the process and I know that you most likely would not want that to happen. ;P ;P ;D

In other news, there is a new TV show that I like called Big Giant Swords. It's about this crazy guy named Irish Mike who makes these big-ass fantasy style swords. Totally my kind of show. :)

The Birthday Police

Does that make me a birthday criminal? A member of the birthday mafia perhaps? :)

I sincerely hope no one ever pulls a prank like this on me. Very cringe-worthy.

Looks fun. A bit silly though. Does he make any practical swords as well?

Aw, come oooooon! Would it be better if they were burly dudes? ;P Just kidding. ;) Okay then, so no scantily clad chicks, strippers or lap dances either, I'm assuming? You're no fun at all. ;P

A bit silly though

It is a bit silly but the guy is nuts so it's fairly entertaining. There is a chick on there named Jamie who is a blacksmith and she's pretty cool. I learned some things from her.

The last episode he made a lock-back sword. It seemed pretty practical and I wouldn't mind having something like that. :)

Hey, on the news last night they said that the bank that I go to got robbed. Glad I wasn't there when it happened. I don't know how someone could rob it, though, as the tellers are behind bullet-proof glass. I guess the policy is to just hand the money over. :/

My spidey senses had been tingling the last few times I went in there.

Anyway, I'm off to the gig in a bit. QoH still insists on leaving 2 hours early when it only takes 45 minutes to get there. I'll let you know how it went when I get back. :)

I wish I had those but I can't get passed the idea of being bitten by a radioactive spider. :)

I am also glad to hear you weren't at the bank robbery. :)

I am surrounded by kiddies ATM as I am babysitting at my sister's house. She's working in a restaurant and will probably go out afterwards and her husband is playing darts.

So when was the last time you had actual kiddies under your care? And how do you handle them when catering?

My yard is full of spiders. I didn't have to get bitten. I think they just transmit their powers to me telepathically. ;P

She's working in a restaurant

Since QoH was 1.5 hours early to the gig, she stopped at a nearby Publix to go in to use the bathroom. While we were in there I got asked by 6 different people where stuff was or if the store sold such-'n-such. That always annoys me. #5 smoothed things over a little bit by saying that I had an air of authority about me, so I helped her out(she needed me to read the expiration date on something). You'd think peeps would know that the people in the green shirts were the employees, not me in black pants and a white button-down. :/

So when was the last time you had actual kiddies under your care?

Never! :)

And how do you handle them when catering?

Ignore them as much as possible. My job description doesn't involve kiddie wrangling. ;P

Anyway, the gig went well. The lady was celebrating her 84th B-day. The daughter(who arranged for the party)was pleased and said that she would like to have me up in NY for parties. :)

She also was nice enough to invite us to eat while we were there. That is not our policy, so she let us take our meals home. I always like when that is the case. :)

They had a choice of gefilte fish or salmon for the appetizer, a coupe salads and hummus for the second course, and brisket or chicken or dinner along with asparagus, potato kugel, and sweet potato wedges for the main course. Birthday cake(chocolate)and fruit for dessert. It was all really yummy.

Hm, flattery will make people do things for you, yes. :)

Okay, but you have interacted with children to some extent then?

she would like to have me up in NY for parties.

Was she serious about that? I mean, do you expect her to call you for a party gig in NY?

I always like when that is the case.

You don't like to eat in strange places?

It was all really yummy.

Sounds like it :)

Occasionally there will be kids at parties. Usually for when the party is for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah(13 y/o). They'd be in the 12-14 y/o range then, not little kids. I've never had to babysit or anything like that.

Was she serious about that?

I think she wishes I lived in NY.

do you expect her to call you for a party gig in NY?

No, but I *have* had other clients who were serious about flying me to out of state for parties.

You don't like to eat in strange places?

I don't have a problem with the location, it's that I don't have the time to do it. I have to concentrate on fixing and serving the food.

Ya know, I was concerned with catching NY germs at the party, but somehow I managed to get them before the party. I woke up with a twinge in my throat yesterday and it progressed throughout the day(had to suck on lozenges at the party)and then last night when I got home it was full blown to a sore throat and my right nostril is stuffy. I haven't been sick in ages(I can't remember the last time). I also have no energy ATM. :/

And what do you have planned for the weekend?

Ugh, it's worse than a cold. I think I got the flu. :/

At least it's not Dengue fever, chikungunya, or malaria(I think I might've had malaria when I was a kid, though). I feel like shit. >:(

Oh dear. Do you have a fever as well then? A cold can be as nasty as the flu sometimes. Maybe you should stay in bed, sleep it off? I hope it doesn't last long.

what do you have planned for the weekend?

Well, for these last six hours that my weekend will continue I plan to do very little. Mostly just surf the net. Drink some hot milk and have a stroopwafel with it. Maybe I'll watch a movie on youtube.

I seemed to be running a slight one last night. I was alternately having chills and then feeling hot. My back was also killing me(felt like it was on fire the length of my spine)so I sat in the massage chair for a bit but it didn't help much. I just felt awful and stayed in bed all day.

I had a terrible sore throat all night and still have it, but my back is no longer sore and I don't seem to have a temperature ATM. I took a nice long hot shower and washed my hair just a bit ago. The hot water and steam felt good. I just can't seem to be able to get rid of the sore throat and I've tried just about everything. I'd rather have any other symptom than a sore throat. That is the *worst*! >:(

Seems we have the same plan. :)

I have been chewing on the natural form of Tamiflu(star anise) and it seems to have the same kind of numbing effect on the tongue as oil of cloves. I wish it would numb my freakin' throat(or at least boost my immune system to get rid of this sickness sooner). :/

I would love to have one of those. Do you use it often?

I wish it would numb my freakin' throat

Can't you use the painkillers you normally use?

I've been suffering from some kind of cold as well for the past couple of weeks. Hey, I recently read about some respiratory disease that apparently causes paralysis symptoms in children somewhere in the US. Something similar to polio. Better take your vitamins. :)

Nah. It's not one of those fancy several-thousand-dollar chairs. It's just an electric-powered back massager thingy that you strap to an arm chair.

I have been, but they've not taken the sore throat away at all. Now to add insult to injury, Ma Nature arrived yesterday. Now I can't take the painkillers that I usually take for that because I'm using different types of meds for this cold/flu thing and I don't want to hurt my liver. :/

Sorry to hear you've been sick, too.

Damn, that's bad timing.

What are you using? Cold and flu are both viruses so there's no actual medication against them.

Sorry to hear you've been sick, too.

I'm feeling a bit better today. I took some extra vitamin C (for what that's worth) and went to bed an hour earlier. I think it's mostly the rest that helped.

Yeah, piling on the misery. :/

What are you using?

Just Alka Seltzer Cold Relief during the day and Robitussin Night Time at night. All they do is treat the symptoms like the congestion and coughing. One has aspirin and the other the equivalent to Tylenol(which are supposed to help the sore throat and muscle pains but they do nothing for me). I usually don't take either of those as I find that Ibuprofen works best for me. Tylenol can ruin your liver if you take too much and can also be lethal.

Anyway, I did some Jewish Penicillin(chicken broth)last night and it helped a bit. I had a kosher mix that I used + jazzed it up with some Sazon Completa and garlic. Helped a bit. The sore throat is feeling better today. Unfortunately, the congestion seems worse. :/

I'm feeling a bit better today.

That's good. :)

I would agree. That and watching Red Sonja right now. The costumes and weaponry are still kinda cool even 30 years later. :) ;P

We often use Po-Ho Oil. We rub it under our noses but you can also put a few drops in a bowl of hot water and breath in the vapors with a towel or something over your head. It's pretty strong stuff.

watching Red Sonja

I would expect you to like a movie like that, yes. :) I haven't seen it in a long time.

Well, the sore throat is gone but now I'm getting to the snot/phlegm/coughing stage. And my head feels all wonky. :/

I got in the shower when I got up today and when I finished and went to put my glasses back on the screw that holds the lens in the frame popped out. I didn't lose the screw, though. I couldn't get the bitch back together after trying for like a half hour. I think they cut the lens slightly too large for the frame. Anyway, I got my needle nose pliers to hold the frame together and then tried to screw it in with the tiny eyeglass screwdriver. After several attempts and much frustration and scratching the lens in the process, I managed to get it back together. >:( I *really* dislike the lenses from that stupid Visionworks place. Actually, I hate everything about that store and will never go there again.

I would expect you to like a movie like that

:) It's very 80's. ;P

Are you feeling better?

Hey, me too. :) #shower-friends high five# ;P

the tiny eyeglass screwdriver

Did that come with the glasses or is that sold separately?

Are you feeling better?

Amazingly, yes. We've had some frost last night and it's snowed. Maybe the bugs froze to death. :)

Well, I got an unexpected call from my sister for babysit duty so that's where I'm going this evening. On Saturday evening I'll have a a B-day party to attend at the same venue. I'm not sure I'm going to like going there in the evening as I prefer the daytime AFA parties are concerned.

Yeah, bud! WooT!!! ;P

Sold separately. I have a few. They're handy to have in the car just in case. I'm *really* pissed about scratching the lens, though. I put a 3 - 4mm scratch just off center in the left lens. It's not really noticeable when I'm wearing them unless the light catches it just right or I happen to look in that spot. >:(

I got an unexpected call

Hey, me too! ;P Except I didn't get asked to babysit; I got a gig for Monday. :)

I prefer the daytime AFA parties are concerned.

Why? Do you turn into a werewolf if there's a full moon or something? ;P

Anyway, have fun sittin' on those babies and good luck with the party. :)
