Regina's Office x Game Of Thrones

The other night I was thinking what I'd do with the house should QoH actually croak and leave it to me.  I know the first thing I'd do is throw out a ton of crap and get rid of a few pieces of furniture that I *really* hate.  Next, the kitchen could use some updating with some new cabinets and counter tops. The floors throughout the place need to be redone.  And then to redecorate in my style. ::insert big evil grin::

QoH's style and my style do not align.  She likes antiques and frou-frou and leopard print and crap that looks like it came from Downton Abbey.  Me?  While I was looking at some furniture on the internet I had the thought that my style is definitely a cross between Regina's office on OUAT and Game of Thrones.  I had that thought because I was looking into some different mid century modern designs in black and white(my favorite color combination) and thought that it would be totally badass to add some fluffy animal pelts as accents and perhaps some chain mail curtains/room dividers.  It's a bit like Icelandic design, but I like Regina's office x GOT.  LOL

For the front room I was thinking that the white marble fireplace mantle could stay, but the rest of it can go.  I located that awesome birch wallpaper they used for Regina's office,
so I'd like to do at least one accent wall with that.  I'd put in some book shelves--perhaps the floating variety--for my shit ton of books, and then I was thinking something totally crazy like a white sofa would look cool. Maybe mix up the styles a bit--like a tufted white leather one and some black Barcelona chairs.
Throw some furs around. A wolf pelt would be good.  Maybe a couple raccoons.  Definitely put my geodes and gargoyles on display.  Maybe some of my swords and armor pieces, too.

I'd like the basement to be a game room like it was originally intended instead of the crap-hoard depository.  I'd like a pool table with a purple felt top, redo the bar, and put the TV and my guitars and amps down there.

:O AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!111!!11

That is just inhuman. ;P

In what way?

black and white(my favorite color combination)

Goes well with everything else, I guess. Although maybe it can get a bit boring in the long run?

Throw some furs around.

Really? Hm.

redo the bar

You have a bar in the house?

:O

LOL

In what way?

The hardwood floors upstairs have some termite damage and those boards need to be replaced and all of it needs to be sanded and refinished(60 y/o wood). The ground floor has terrazzo but had carpet installed over it. The idiots who installed the carpet nailed tack-boards all around by the walls and when the carpet was pulled up, small pieces/chunks of terrazzo came with it. So all those holes need to be filled and then the whole of it polished and sealed. The basement floor was linoleum but was damaged when a pipe broke in the wall. I'd just pull up the remaining lino and sand the concrete and maybe stain and seal it, or maybe install that ceramic tile that looks like wood.

Although maybe it can get a bit boring in the long run?

I think I'd only do the living room and maybe the kitchen like that. I need at least one room that I can go crazy with it. ;P

I do like colors and different looks for different rooms. :)

Really? Hm.

They look cool. :)

You have a bar in the house?

An unfinished one. I just don't understand my parental units. They never fixed anything. All it really needed was a counter top and have the wood painted or stained. They had all the glassware and even a lighted Miller beer clock and a couple other beer-themed bar lights. To my knowledge it was never used. For display purposes only. :/

My next-door nabe has a bar in the same place. When they re-did the house they re-did the bar. It looks crappy now. (I looked through the window when the workers left the light on. ;P)

What about the bedroom? ;P

I used to have this single-size bed but now I've been sleeping on a two-person-size bed, I really would want to go back to single-size.

To my knowledge it was never used.

I assume they didn't have any friends to invite over for a drink?

My bedroom looks like Regina's office x GOT x Rumple's Pawn Shop all put in a blender. ;D

I don't know how people sleep in those. I've always had a double(except for when I was a baby and slept in a crib). I like to sprawl. Those little beds are too confining.

Ya know, I thought of it a bit before, but I never had a "kid bed" or kid furniture or any of that stuff specifically bought for me. The bed that I slept in was something that a hotel threw away and the furniture was all thrift store stuff that QoH had. I think that is just not right. If I had a kid I'd want to buy him/her their own stuff. :/

I really would want to go back to single-size.

I'm assuming there should be a "NOT" in there? I don't know how a grown man could sleep on one of those.

I can't recall my parents ever drinking(aside from my dad having the occasional beer). We've never kept liquor in the house(until I got old enough to buy it or bring it home from gigs ;P).

What about your old peeps?

That's going to be awkward if you ever have to sleep with someone in the same bed.

I think that is just not right.

Were you poor at the time or were your parents just stingy?

You assume correctly.

What about your old peeps?

A long time ago, in another house not super far away, my parents actually had built their own bar in the house. My mother had never been allowed by her parents to go to cafés so my parents decided people, their friends of those days, would just have to come to them. I guess it worked for a while but it became mostly a decoration piece.

These days my parents don't drink much. A glass of whine sometimes and some beer at parties.

I've been told I'm like sleeping with an octopus. I guess that's what California Kings or super Kings are made for. ;P

Looking back on it, I guess you could call it house poor? They were basically paying off 2 properties at the same time. I think they were unwise with their decision making and naive in a lot of ways. My dad *is* a cheapskate, QoH definitely is not. IDK, a lot of things they did puzzle me. Something one of my uncles infamously said(and I'm paraphrasing)about 'not having priorities straight' comes to mind.

their friends of those days

My parents never had friends. I find that so strange. And the "family" that I thought was my family was actually extended family from QoH's first marriage. I find that extremely bizarre that someone would hang out with their ex's family like that.

A glass of whine

LMAO! A typo or Freudian slip? ;P

So how're your 'rents these days?

Do you have half-siblings?

I think you know it's a typo. :)

My rent is exactly 300 euros per month. ;P

My parents are more or less alive, keeping it simple, trying not to die too soon. They've been together since they were adolescents. I'm pretty sure that if one of them dies the other house will have a serious mental breakdown.

Yep. Since before I was born. My dad has 3 brothers. I haven't seen any of them since I was very little. QoH didn't like any of his family, so she didn't associate with them. I guess I'm estranged by proxy or something. They never made an effort either.

Do you have half-siblings?

Yes, my sister is my half-sister, and I have a half-brother also. They were both late teens by the time I was born.

My rent is exactly 300 euros per month. ;P

That's pretty cheap. Your old peeps actually charge you?

They've been together since they were adolescents.

:O Wow!

WTF is wrong with my brain today?

LOL English language brain farts. Happens to the best of us. ;)

And what are you up to this weekend? I'm on break from mowing the yard. It is slightly cool today, so I managed to do most of it before I went on break. I just have to do a bit in the back and then if I'm feeling up to it, break out the weed whacker to tidy up, then blow it all clean. :)

:O Wow!

Well, they didn't marry at that age. They were friends and they dated for years and then they married when they were in their early twenties.

Your old peeps actually charge you?

Yes. The 300 euro isn't just rent. It also covers food, water, use of electricity etc.

And what are you up to this weekend?

I've been playing "Warframe" a lot. It's a free-to-play video game that I downloaded via Steam. It's sort of a scifi shooter where you play a space-ninja.

Tomorrow is my next appointment with Ms. H. Shrinker. So there's that to look forward to.

I know that my sister was definitely NOT like my mother. I don't think anyone is quite like me, though. ;P

I have actually heard of these things. Her Stoatliness is an avid gamer who uses this "Steam" thingy of which you speak. I do not dislike shoot-'em-up games. :)

my next appointment with Ms. H. Shrinker.

Good luck with that! How is Ms Shrinker BTW? Any good? Do you like her? I'm sure you'll let me know how it went. :)

In other news, I did a crazy thing last night. After mowing the lawn and all that I watched a bit of MMA and then afterward QoH wanted me to marinate some roasted pork in Char Sui spices so I can make some pork fried rice. I also had bought a large quantity of mock crab and needed to cut all that up into teeny bits to make some oriental crab salad. Afterward,(it was well after midnight) I got the crazy idea that I needed to get on the stationary bike and do 2 kilometers on #4 setting like I did the previous night. The first kilometer went well(I can do it in 3 minutes)and then I was huffing and puffing halfway through the second kilometer while trying to keep my 3 minute pace. Oh well, I always had the shittiest cardio evar. Sigh. I'd like to improve that, though. And then my quads were so tired I could barely climb the stairs to go to my bedroom. :/

She's okay, I guess. She works hard to rid me of any discomfort I might feel during our conversations. She's also looking to hook me up with an actual psycho-therapist as she herself can't do all that much apparently. I looked her up on the internet and her main experience is in child,- and youth-psychology. I guess I need a specialist in personality disorders?

And then my quads were so tired I could barely climb the stairs to go to my bedroom.

I bet you slept like a baby though. :)

At what point did you eat he pork/rice/crab? I haven't had any mock crab in a while. I should really get some this week.

So Ms Shrinker doesn't sound too bad. Good to hear she's trying to do what's in your best interests. I suppose you probably *do* need a PD specialist as most regular shrinkers don't seem to know too much about that subject. It really is a world of its own. The good news is unlike NPD, yours is treatable. :)

I bet you slept like a baby though. :)

I did. I repeated the process last night along with some other crazy things I did(there will be a post coming for that ;P)and was dead to the world for 8 hours. ;D

At what point did you eat he pork/rice/crab?

I had a few bites of the crab after I made it on Saturday night, the pork fried rice I cooked last night(QoH interrupted my MMA to do it). It was really yummy. The crab tasted even better after it sat over night and the flavors intensified. :)

I'm going to do a post on the physical fitness test to get into the police academy. Some things triggered my curiosity and I looked it up last night. Even for someone my age I think the minimum standards are ridiculously low. I could easily meet them in my current condition. :)
