I have a few pairs of boots.

I like boots and there is nothing wrong with that.  Okay, four pairs there are technically *not* boots.  There are 11 pairs of Dr. Martens in there.  I have a bit of a thing for Doc's.  They are comfy and they have a special sole that prevents you from busting your ass on slippery or greasy floors.  And should the need arise to give someone a swift kick they are also excellent for that as well.

Hey, I prefer boots myself. Not the knee-high type though...

Other kinds of shoes tend to chafe the underside of my ankles and have even drawn blood that way.

The red shoes at the front in the pic are ridiculously cute :)

Also, it looks like you have rather small feet. Could be the perspective.

Not the knee-high type though... I don't like very high ones, either. The Doc's that go just above the ankle are ideal. I've been wearing Doc's since high school. Usually they are quite expensive if you buy them retail but I have been lucky to find them at different discount stores over the years at a fraction of retail price--usually under $20--and for Doc's that's a damn good deal. The suckers last damn near forever.

Other kinds of shoes tend to chafe the underside of my ankles and have even drawn blood that way. Yes, I have had that problem as well. My sister got me a pair of sneakers once that were probably one of the most uncomfortable pairs of shoes ever. They dug into my ankles and just above my heel. Horrible things.

The red shoes at the front in the pic are ridiculously cute :) Yeah, like the owner! ;P Those and the low ones just behind in the pic are my faves and what I wear most along with a pair of Merrill mini mocs. The black boots I had bought for work.

it looks like you have rather small feet. Could be the perspective. I do have small feet. Size 6 US women's size or I think a 35 or 36 EU. My Doc's are a 4 since they size them in men's size for some reason. And just think, in ages past my wee feet would have been highly prized and lusted after! ;P

Well, as long as they're clean... ;P

I bought me some boots after all. Seventy frickin' euros and I'm told that's not a lot to pay for shoes.

Seventy frickin' euros and I'm told that's not a lot to pay for shoes. Seems like a lot to me but I don't really know what prices are like over there. I've been led to believe that everything is more expensive than over here. But more expensive than what? Retail mall prices? Because I detest paying full price for anything. The last time I bought something in a retail store was a ladies military style jacket at Sears(a place I usually never set foot in)about 2 years ago and only because it was on sale. I think it was $24 after mark-down and I was reluctant to pay that. What kinds of stores do you have over there? Do you have any of the discount variety?

So what kinda boots did you get? What do they look like? Are they awesome?

Well, as long as they're clean... ;P Oh, always! LOL They're nice and soft, too. No calluses or bunions or hammer toes. Cuz I wear sensible, comfortable shoes. ;P

Oh sure, I always buy my shoes in one of those. These new boots are actually about twice the price of the shoes I usually buy. They'd better be worth it. I can't tell you the brand right now though. Tomorrow.

The brand is "Mountain Peak", apparently.

I'm trying my hand at brownies again today. This time I'll use baking powder instead of yeast like the last time...

And I've replaced the hazelnuts with pecan nuts.

Brownies, huh? Sounds yummy. I've been washing heaps of laundry all day--mostly bath towels and bed linens--and I could use some brownies. :) I've never had them with hazelnuts or pecans, though.

I googled those boots of yours but no dice. I just keep getting hits for mountain climbing boots. I take it they're some kind of hikers? I don't think you have any high peaks where you live! ;P

What do you put in them then?

I don't think you have any high peaks where you live! ;P

Nah, the mountains over here are mostly pancake high ;P I'd have to go to Switzerland or Austria for some decent peaks, I think.

Have you ever done any mountain climbing?

What do you put in them then? Walnuts.

The highest point in Florida is Britton Hill at a whopping 105 meters. ;P It's the lowest high point of all the states. I've never been there.

Have you ever done any mountain climbing? Yes and no. I've been to the Great Smokey Mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee. I attempted to do some climbing up a rather steep mountainside until I got a bit too far up for my mother's liking and then she screamed at me to GET DOWN FROM THERE RIGHT NOW!!! It was fun while it lasted.

Then I've been to the summit of Mount Greylock in the Berkshires in Massachusetts. My aunt took me up there. We "climbed it" in her car.

I've also been through the Green Mountains in Vermont by car.

Mountain climbing is something I've always wanted to do, not so much the Everest style but rather the steep hiking variety. Nothing that would get me killed. I'd also like to try rappelling.

What about you?

When I was a kid, whenever our soccer ball ended up on the roofs of the local school buildings we climbed up there. Sometimes people called the cops on us. :)

And of course there's the old "mountain" in Limburgian Vaals, the highest point of mainland Netherlands. I've sauntered up there.

Ah, good. We both have the billy goat gene. :)

Limburg has some cool scenery.

Hey, I just noticed on the Google page that it's Grimm's Fairy Tales 200th anniversary.

Yeah, those guys at Google do some nice things with the front page sometimes.

I've been coerced into washing my mothers bed linens and doing some dusting and such for her today. Gah, the washing alone is a mission. :(

In other news, I made another gingerbread last night. I doubled the recipe this time. I think it came out even better than the last one. :)

Coerced? What leverage does your mother have over you?

I doubled the recipe this time.

So it's twice the size?

What leverage does your mother have over you? She'll bitch about it and pull the old lady card and be a pain in the ass until I get sick of her bitching and just go ahead and do it.

So it's twice the size? Yep. The last one got devoured too quickly so I was compelled to make a larger one. I think gingerbread is quite possibly an addictive substance. ;P

Ah, the good old guilt trip tactic ;P

Have you got any plans for the weekend? (besides washing laundry :P )

Have you got any plans for the weekend? Well, I had to go to the pharmacy with my mother so she could get a couple prescriptions to prep for her cataract surgery. Surgery is scheduled for February but she wanted to make sure that she had the prescriptions and not wait until the last minute and then maybe the pharmacy might not have it. :::sigh::: So we had to wait for 45 minutes over at Walmart for that. At least you can take care of your shopping while you wait. At the checkout, the girl rang up one of the items twice but I had already paid and got the receipt before I realized it. I questioned my mother whether she had gotten two of that item and she said yes. I didn't remember seeing two. So when we get home, I questioned her again and then she says she only got the one. Then she gives me the run-around with 'Oh, I thought you meant the other thing' when I clearly said the item in question. :::sigh::: Now we have to go back to the damn store to get my money because they'll give me an issue if I wait until the next day. Good thing it's only a mile down the road. :::sigh:::

Such a pain in the ass. I basically spent the better part of the evening going to stores and back and then when I got home I had to cook some chicken and now I'm finally sitting down to rest and write all this. :::sigh:::

In other news, IT'S COLD!!! We actually have wind chill warnings for tonight...supposed to be hovering around freezing. Woo-hoo!!! And I must say, low-cut cashmere sweaters are not that warm. ;P

I guess I'll watch some kickboxing. It's that It's Showtime promoter from your neck of the woods. The ring announcer has a cute Dutch accent. ;P

As for plans I'll probably be trimming some of the shrubbery around the yard and maybe mowing tomorrow. At least it won't be hot. :)
