Game?

I've grown tired of ol' Frank at the top of the page. Besides, in real life, I don't think he'd be allowed to be on top for eight consecutive days. ;P

So dear reader, I was doing some thinking in the shower(the place where all the best ideas happen). What would be something different for a post? How about a little game? Something of a 'get to know you better' kinda deal. Maybe something like truth or dare, except it would be impossible to enforce the dare part being this is the intertoobehs and all. So maybe we'll start with 10 questions with 3 chances to abstain? And you can ask anything you want. It doesn't have to be embarrassing or deeply personal(although those wouldn't be off limits). Interesting will do fine. I'll ask one, then you ask one, but we each have to answer. Does that sound fair?

I'll go first. Something easy, unoriginal, and not very personal: Coke or Pepsi? ;)

BTW...

 Go Big Orange!!!

Ah well, to speed things up, I'll go ahead and answer first so you can ask your question after you answer, Arekino. Time zones are so inconvenient. ::rolls eyes:: ;P

When I was a kid, I liked Pepsi better, mainly because that was my sister's preference and what she bought. My parents never bought name brand anything. With them, it was always Winn Dixie's brand sodas, and my dad usually bought those(my mother wasn't much of a soda drinker) and usually every flavor under the sun except cola and strawberry. When I was very young, I didn't like sodas as the carbonation kinda "burned" my tongue. When I got into high school, I drank a Mountain Dew damn near every day at lunch. At one particular job I had, the company had a contract with Coca Cola, so I got used to drinking that even though initially it tasted odd compared to other colas. I'm still very much a Mountain Dew girl(had one earlier today)even though I rarely drink sodas any more. So brand wise, I guess it's Pepsi for me. :)

Coke or Pepsi?

I honestly don't know. I rarely drink any kind of cola b/c of the diabetes these days. When I was a kid I think the only type of cola we had was Coca Cola so I can't say I know the difference between Pepsi and Coke. We actually very rarely had cola. What we usually had was Roosvicee, a sirop based on Rose hip that you had to add water to.

My question: Innie or outie? ;P

I have an innie. It's just a very standard round hole with a flat bottom surface. Nothing particularly interesting.

Next question: What is your favorite work by Shakespeare?

Mine is Henry V. :)

When I was in school, we had to read shit-tons of Shakespeare, but as most of his works were meant to be acted out as plays, and HS kids being surly and some not very good readers, I didn't care for it much. But for some reason on a trip to Barnes & Noble, I bought a copy of Henry V even though it was not on the required reading list, read it and liked it a lot.

I just noticed something interesting--if I put my thumb at the top of my belly button and my forefinger at the bottom and then pull the skin taut(closing the hole), it looks like a lightning bolt(like Harry Potter's scar). :)

BTW, I think Henry V is my English side coming out. We always like sticking it to the French. ;P

What is your favorite work by Shakespeare?

The only Shakespeare play I've actually read is The Tempest, which I found okay but not great. When I was a kid there was a period when all of WS's plays were broadcast on TV. I loved to watch those, lots of fun. I remember especially enjoying Richard III for some reason. Maybe because of all the intrigue. I also really like Kenneth Branagh's version of Hamlet.

Anyway, once more unto the breach, my friend. ;)

My question to you: If you could get yourself a new pet, what sort of pet would that be?

I would choose a dog, a basset hound. They look so friendly and they don't seem to need a huge lot of exercise. They are quite adorable as puppies. Pretty ideal, it seems to me.

Never read it, but I did like the old film version with Lawrence Olivier.

If you could get yourself a new pet, what sort of pet would that be?

I'm done with pets. I don't want another one. After all the BS with QoH and 6 dogs at one time and the fortune pissed away? Just no. It would be a very long time before I'd even consider it. Unless I could have an Arekino as a pet... ;P

basset hound.

The poor things always look so sad to me. I saw 3 one time at the county animal shelter. Litter mates, I think. Their short legs tend toward deformities from all the in-breading. :/

They are very mellow, though. :)

Okay, next question:

I guess I'll do the meatier one first and save the fluff for later...

What action(s) makes you feel most loved and appreciated: gifts, someone spending time with you, words of affirmation, peeps doing stuff for you, or being physically touched?

For me, by far, it's having someone spend time with me. Then if I *really* like someone, I like the touchy-feely. (I just might be a closeted snuggler ;P) Much further down the line would be words of affirmation, followed by gifts and lastly someone doing stuff for me.

I'd feel like an asshole if I got off on peeps running around doing stuff for me. That sounds like the realm of NPD. ;P

Oddly, it's doing stuff with and for people. That may sound strange coming from someone who tries to spend as little time with people as he can but that is how I roll. Any time people allow me in their private space is quite meaningful to me I just can't seem to stand spending a lot of time there.

My question : What's your wallpaper ATM?

For me, it's this one.

I miss having Teeny Moo around(skinny little stray cat), so maybe a cat at some time in the distant future. ;)

Impasse ;P

Okay, nest question: Have you ever tasted your own...how should I put it...essence?

For me that's a yes. As to why...someone said that girls taste like roast beef...LOL...and I had to know if this was even in the same galaxy as true and since I'm not into chicks...I most definitely don't taste like roast beef. Dude needs to find someone with better hygiene. ;P

No, I have never tasted my sperm. I would need to be pretty horny to do that and once the "essence" has appeared I'm no longer sufficiently horny.

I most definitely don't taste like roast beef.

But what did it taste like then?

My question: have you ever had a moment when you seriously thought you were going to die?

I've been having hypos the last coupe of weeks so that's why I ask. Every time I get one of those at night it's like "Maybe this is the big one?"

It's hard to describe. A slight tangy sensation but didn't really taste like much of anything. Hey, I guess I take the attitude 'don't expect someone else to taste what you wouldn't taste yourself'. ;P

have you ever had a moment when you seriously thought you were going to die?

Twice, actually. Once when I was really sick and I felt like I was freezing to death, and another time when I was riding with QoH in her truck(I don't remember if we were coming back from a trip or a gig). She fell asleep at the wheel at the *absolute worst possible moment*--going over one of the super-high ramp overpass thingies on I-595. The truck was headed directly for the barrier at *the very top* of the thing. I yelled at her and I can't recall if I grabbed the wheel or not, but she woke up ans corrected at the last damn second. That one scared the shit out of me. I ***really*** thought that was the end. :/

I've been having hypos the last coupe of weeks

That's not good. :/

Any idea what's causing it? I'd miss you terribly if you croaked. :(

a happy independance day! :)

Thanks! I got some grilling to get to in a while. :)

Okay, official question: What is your favorite movie adaptation of a book?

Mine is Manhunter which was the first movie based on Red Dragon(book). It had some nice artistic license IMO. I thought the guy who played the killer was creepy as hell(more so than Ralph Feinnes (sp?)in Red Dragon and I really liked when the killer was about to murder the blind woman in his house he put on Inna Gadda Da Vida and blasted it from the speakers. Nice touch. :)

What is your favorite movie adaptation of a book?

The only book that I've ever read that was turned into a movie was Jurassic Park. I guess that will have to be my favourite then. :)

Now, a book that I would love to see turned into a movie is Accelerando by Charles Stross.

My question: Which book would you like to see turned into a movie?

Don't go overdoing it. Nothing to make yourself sick. I'd be very upset if something happened to you(I'm sure you wouldn't like it so much, either ;) ).

Which book would you like to see turned into a movie?

Oh, that's tough. I don't read many books and the ones I've read are old and already turned into movies in most cases.

Hmmm, I'd *like* to say Strange Stains and Mysterious Smells by Terry Jones, but it could be argued that there's already a movie based on the Lady Cottington books, so...

how about Evil Machines by Terry Jones. ;D

Next question: Have you ever made yourself orgasm so hard you felt like you were having a seizure?

Yes for me. Skillzzzz! ;P

Yeah, it gave me cramp in my neck. The trick is to just take your time. Some lubrication helps but then, you women get your lubrication for free. :)

Q: If you could replace a part of your body with a cybernetic device, would you do that and which part?

For me it's obvious: my pancreas. Then again, given the option I might just replace a lot more. :)

Nah, I like all my meat parts to be meaty. ;P

If they could suck some fat from one part of my body and stick it in my boobs to make them slightly bigger I might go for that, but I don't want any non-natural things in me.

I really wish they would come up with a cure for diabetes. It must really suck having a wonky pancreas. I hate that you have to deal with that. :/

Nice shirt BTW. Orange looks pretty good right about now. :)

I like that shirt and would buy it, but I disagree with the slogan 'nothing beats a lion'. IRL: other lions, maybe an elephant, hunters with guns...on the soccer pitch: nothing except themselves, goal posts, crossbars, shitty officiating... ;)

Ya know something, I was having a decent holiday weekend until this morning when I found out that insufferable Rhonda Rousey won last night. And even worse than another fucking armbar which I expected. This time it was a KO in 16 seconds of the first round. I think I'm going to lose my mind if someone does not beat that bitch. I fairly certain all her fights are rigged because they never show any footage and they are all on PPV.

She absolutely refuses to fight Cyborg. Cyborg even said she(Rousey)wasn't a real fighter because she won't fight anyone who would be a tough fight, hinting that her fights are rigged in her favor.

Sigh. At least on Friday I got to see Tiffany van Soust knock out a girl by using my favorite move--front kick to the kisser. ;P

Rousey would never fight Cyborg, probably will not fight Holly Holm, and probably wouldn't even fight van Soust if she was to go from Muay Thai to MMA. Grrrrr...

Okay, rant over.

Official question:

How much does a nice white-flesh, cold water, ocean caught fish cost where you live(like cod, flounder, etc)?

Here the prices are insane. I can't seem to get even a cod for less than $9/pound and that is on sale and of dubious origin. :/

Blogger Xul said...

Grr, I *hate* when I catch typos after the fact. Should be Tiffany van Soest, not Soust.

Anyway, I had to go to horrible Aventura to buy a new AC adapter for my laptop because the original one decided to have a short in it today and catch on fire. The fire part was kinda scary, but even worse was how much a new cord costs--$53.49! :O

Oh well, at least the new one is thicker and seems a better quality and had 9 different adapter plugs, so theoretically, I could use it for other devices if I needed to.

While I was over there at that particular shopping plaza, I went in to the Whole Foods market to buy some rye flour since regular grocery stores don't seem to carry that. $4 for nearly 2 pounds. Sheesh! And the place was crawling with tree hugging bloody do-gooder lefty types who think they are better than everyone because they buy organic fair trade overpriced bullshit. Ugh. I needed a shower when I got home to wash the insufferable smugness that hangs in the air in that place off of me. :/

I don't really know as I never buy fish. I never ate fish when living on my own and my parents buy the fish now.

Sorry for responding this late but it's really warm and humid over here. Plus I was watching some old Wes Craven movie on youtube and kinda lost track of time.

Hey,are people in US still watching soccer somewhat or has their interest waned now that the US team is no longer in it?

Sounds like here.

are people in US still watching soccer somewhat

IDK, I think the only ones who still care are all the peeps from Brazil and Argentina who live here. I don't think the interest was as widespread as the media tried to make it out to be. The hype was bigger than the reality. Most peeps here don't like soccer because of what we would consider to be poor sportsmanship(dives, biting, etc) and the lack of scoring. Peeps here find it boring. I think the male population here finds the diving and feigning injury and the ensuing carrying on to be most unmanly and repulsive. For some reason the ladies soccer doesn't have much of that. We love the US Women's team here. Our ladies are kinda badass. ;D

What part of you is the most ticklish?

Oh, you *are* evil. Are you trying to make me use a pass? Grrr...

Fine. ::huff:: The soles of my feet. Trying to tickle me there could be dangerous for the tickler as you'll likely be kicked HARD in the process. ;P

Is there no such thing in popular American sports then? No physical fouls? No attempts to fool the referee?

BTW, "diving" will earn you a yellow card if the referee notices it too often.

What is your shoe size?

It's 43 in Dutch units. I guess it's 9/10/11 in US units, according to this table.

Why do you want to know that? :)

The weather was slightly better today. I bought myself some new pencils just to try out different types. And 2 new comic books arrived today. Yay!

Not too much. Any such act would be highly derided. for the most part Americans have a high standard for fair play.

No physical fouls? No attempts to fool the referee?

I only watch baseball, hockey, and football...and not as much as I used to. Hardly ever any more, actually. Hockey and football are physically rough sports which most men here like the roughness. It's part of the game. Soccer isn't viewed as a physically rough sport with body checks and tackling peeps as hard as you can. Then add on the 'carrying on' when a soccer player gets fouled. Peeps here don't like that.

It's like in hockey, peeps take sticks and pucks to the face all the time and they don't carry on nearly as dramatically as some soccer players who get tripped. It just seems unmanly.

Why do you want to know that? :)

I had been wondering ever since you sent me the pic of your new cold weather shoes trudging through the(inch of)snow. They didn't look huge. I don't like big feet. Yours are just the right size. :)

I guess you win? :)

That's fine. I accept your concession. This *was* getting long. ;)

Sooooo, which comics did you get?

I had been contemplating doing a drawing. One of the fanfic writers whose stuff I like had requested for someone to do a pic. Now I can't remember who. :/

You know I have an aversion to running. ;)

And no, I've never played the game before.

Funny story: Back when I was in HS, there were a scant few(just barely enough for a whole team)kids who wanted a soccer team. Our school didn't have one at the time. So the administration relented and let them have a soccer team, but it was co-ed as there were not enough kids interested to have both a guy's and girl's team. LOL And they were *terrible*. They lost every game over 2 seasons. They never even scored IIRC(unless you count the own-goal--LOL that's another story entirely ;P). And the best incident EVAR was the time[I can't remember the girl's name] kicked Nathan(mega-douche who was the goalie)in the head. My friends and I have laughed about that one for literally years.

So no. I never had a desire to be a part of that hot mess. :)

Besides, I'm gifted with great manual dexterity. Why would I play a sport where I could not utilize my talents? ;P

I actually don't know that. Why?

They are obnoxious and douchey. And they think they are Go's gift to the planet. Also, they behave like rude ill-mannered children. And they have that annoying thing where they either go by their fist name or some stupid super hero name. Fucking idiots. All the other nations in South America think they are idiots as well. And I've had the misfortune to have to work with/for them on occasion. They are even worse en masse. Not to say I dislike all of them. I have worked with a few who were good peeps, even one who had the same criticisms of her country plus other things that were not so good.

That doesn´t work. :)

Yeah, I figured he's more likely on the Argentine's side. You lot are a bunch of heathens. ;P

I'd never heard it before this WC

Who else said it? I thought we just had our own brand of humor here. ;P

Ya know, I must be psychic or something. I had a feeling that the damn game was going to end in a NL loss in PKs. Aaaaand that's what happened. :/

Too bad there couldn't be 3 or 4 more Robbens on the pitch. That guy plays with ganas.

Well, how's your week been?

Boring as usual.

Had anything unusually interesting happen? :)

I colored my hair on Tuesday after having let it grow out for 5 months. QoH(who seems to be obsessed with outward appearance)made a negative comment about it. I had been meaning to do it sooner, but it's kinda a pain in the ass and I had been procrastinating. It *was* starting to look bad so I went ahead and did it.

A funny thing: the nabes-across-the-street's parents are down for a couple of weeks and I went to take them some mangoes since they like 'em and to say hi since they're down and all. So their crazy bipolar mom made a comment to me about how I never get any gray hair/never sees gray hair on me/something like that. LOL So I said to her, "Yeah, that's because I just colored it earlier today." ;P Then she had a funny dramatic reaction. They are odd but entertaining. ;)

Purely visually, I don't really care that much. If in the entirely theoretical event that I get the opportunity to perform cunnilingus then frankly I'm not looking forward to getting hairs in my mouth.

So, what are your thoughts on fellatio? :)

Besides, like I said before, she's bipolar and on meds. She says all sorts of 'inappropriate' things. I'm to the stage where I just don't care. There isn't much that can insult me or conversations I refuse to have(as evidenced by this comments thread ;P).

QoH ONTH got all defensive when I tacked on the reason why I had just dyed it--I said that QoH must be embarrassed to be seen with me in public--she got all defensive and huffy over that. LOL

What prompts you to ask such a question?

Saw an article last night on the 'new trend' in lady bits aesthetics--the Full Bush Brazilian.

I was just wondering how much men care about such things as it seems women do it more to impress each other.

If in the entirely theoretical event that I get the opportunity to perform cunnilingus then frankly I'm not looking forward to getting hairs in my mouth.

Well, like the guy at the porn shop said to Amélie Poulain in that movie, 'Nobody likes hair on their cherry pie.' ;P

I consider myself to be a considerate lover. I'd never make anyone bushwhack down there. ;P

Besides, since I've been using the electric clippers to lady-scape down there, I'd never go back to au natural. I like the look of being all trimmed/waxed up. :)

When I was growing up, this whole pleasuring your woman was kind of a new thing. The female body was considered rather mysterious. So many buttons to push... plus unclear feedback. Men were often considered boring and selfish lovers.

You just have to practice a lot. :P

Are you volunteering to be my guinea pig? ;P

So many buttons to push... plus unclear feedback.

I just don't get this whole thing with couples not communicating what they like/want. It seems counterproductive IMO. If I'm with someone, I get just as much out of pleasing them/making them feel good as they do. To me it's a big ego boost to do so.

IDK, I guess I've watched too much Sue Johanson and read too many Dr. Ruth articles. I'm not a prude or hate sex and men like some peeps around here. ::rolls eyes::

Ya know, I met Dr. Ruth at a party one time. Very memorable story, that. ;)

Coincidentally, I mentioned to QoH that I saw a Tweet from her(Dr R) mentioning that she used to be a sniper in the IDF. QoH got all pissy and called her vulgar and all sorts of things. I don't see how being a sex educator is vulgar. Different generation, I guess. ::shrugs::

What do you think about the reverse, your man having such power over you? :)

Well, lucky me if I get as good as I give. :)

Hey, what are you doing up so late anyway? :O

In other news, Ma Nature is here. I think she cursed my lady bits. :/

QoH was bitching about the yard earlier and how it 'looks like Sanford & Son'(she can exaggerate like no other)so I went out back and trimmed the plumbago near the lime tree. It was sooooo hot and humid that I felt like I was going to pass out so I came in to rest a bit.

While I was inside, I felt the urge to cut into the ginormous watermelon that I bought for the Fourth. It was yummy noms. Anyhoo, QoH comes in and makes a snide remark about how she hopes that I'm going to do more than just the plumbago after I get through messing with the watermelon. Such a bitch. I already feel like shit from Ma Nature and it's like 90 degrees and 90% humidity outside. BUT! I soldier on and break out the weed whacker to do the part of the yard near the lime tree. While I had the thing out, I just said 'fuck it' and went ahead and did the whole back yard. I though my uterus was going to escape by the time I finished. No use telling QoH, though. She doesn't care and has/had worse pains than anyone on the planet evar. ::rolls eyes::

Had a nice shower/shampoo/whole shebang afterward. I feel much better now. :)

Good for you. :)

Different generation, I guess.

Yeah, my mother is like that as well sometimes.

I think she cursed my lady bits.

That puts so many weird thoughts in my head. ;P

But I'm sorry to hear you're suffering and I offer you a friendly hug in consolation. #Hug#

No use telling QoH, though.

Why would you tell her that?

I feel much better now.

Good. :)

It felt soooo weird in the shower. Must've only been a 24 hour curse, though. I don't feel so bad now.

I offer you a friendly hug in consolation. #Hug#

I'd like a real one, but this is next best. :)

Why would you tell her that?

That my lady bits are cursed? I wouldn't tell her that. I've given up on telling her when I'm in pain. She simply doesn't care. Probably never has. She only "cares" inasmuch as it's an inconvenience to her. Typical NPD.

BTW, how are *YOU* feeling? The wonky pancreas giving you any more trouble?

I think I'm going to try to mow the weeds today. It's just as fucking hot humid as yesterday, though. It's gonna suck, but it needs to be done. :/

Soon, Rousey.

Soon.

Not a lot. I think I just need to check my blood sugar level before going to bed.

HOLLY HOLM signed with the UFC!!!

She mostly the boxing type, as far as I can tell. And Rousey likes to grapple?

You *are* weird. Have you gotten into the Japanese pron again? ;P

Weird is just one of the reasons I like you so much. :)

Not a lot.

Good. I don't like when you aren't feeling well. I'm sure you don't like it either. ;)

She mostly the boxing type

13X boxing champ IIRC, but she's *wicked* with the kickboxing. She throws kick combinations like a beast. Nice lady outside the ring but downright evil inside it.

Rousey is basically 2 moves: Judo hip toss and armbar. The last fight she allegedly knocked Davis out on the first punch(and hurt her hand in the process LOL)and then threw a knee. Never saw any actual footage of that--UFC showed more footage of Rousey mean-mugging on the walk-up than the actual fight(like zero), and only a pic of what looked like Rousey having Davis in what looked like a WWE style headlock. I'm calling bullshit. Sounds like the typical quick referee stoppage M.O. that the UFC is notorious for.

If you want to see a good KO, just google Holly Holm vs Alanna Jones. :D

Again? I don't remember telling you about tha... Oh... Oops! ;P

I doubt that is true. You may like me but not because I'm supposedly weird. :)

I'm calling bullshit.

Wouldn't journalists have exposed such bullshit?

Holly Holm vs Alanna Jones.

That just confirms my impression that she's mostly a boxer and would not be of much use once she's on the ground.

Anyway, I hope it's not as warm anymore over there. Today's QoH doc appt day, I think? Not much fun to be had there. How's the catering business going? Anything new on the horizon?

I said *one* of the reasons, not the only reason. You are also sweet, kind, and funny. Cute, too. What's not to like? I'm sure you have an assholish side, too, but who doesn't?

Wouldn't journalists have exposed such bullshit?

No, journalists are the chief purveyors of propaganda. That kinda crap went on in boxing for years and still does. I watched an interview with some MMA guys talking about just that and how fights were "rigged" where the fighter that was being hyped would get a bunch of easy fights to pad his record. Also, they were talking about how when they first started years ago they would actually look for guys to fight that might have a chance of beating them. Then they were all laughing about 'who does *that* any more?' Also the difference between MMA and Muay Thai, where in Muay Thai the fighters will pretty much fight anyone. Hell, I saw Cyborg get beat soundly a few weeks ago by a Dutch girl in a Muay Thai match. (Dutch peeps kick like mules so I've learned ;P)

not be of much use once she's on the ground.

IDK, I've seen her fight a Brazilian who tried to BJJ her and she got out of it and ground and pounded her ass. The girl is tough. I've seen a bunch of her fights and sometimes I even find myself feeling a bit bad for the opponent. Holm hands out some severe beatings.

Today's QoH doc appt day, I think?

Nope! She's been doing the full-on paranoia thing and hasn't been going for over a month now. It's fine with me. I hated wasting my time with it.

How's the catering business going?

Not going at all. If it was up to me and I didn't have QoH and all her paranoia and grudges to deal with, I probably would have got in contact with an old employer and asked for work.

As it is, nothing to look forward to. :/

I guess you'll have to give yourself something to do. Maybe play some chess? Draw something? Watch some movies? How long before OUAT restarts?

I've started a new drawing BTW. I think this one is going to be reasonable good. :)

Hey Arekino, just how much American TV/movies do you peeps get over in the NL? The reason I ask is you peeps are like stealthy language ninjas. Whenever I read fanfics, I can usually tell if someone is American, Canadian, British, or Aussie from either spellings or phrasing. But then I'll read a really good fic, and I mean good as in the grammar, spelling, syntax, etc. is excellent as well as the writing and content and I'll think maybe it's an American my age who has a talent for writing, but then when I investigate their profile, it turns out to be a Dutch person. O_o

So what gives? ;P

I guess you'll have to give yourself something to do.

Back to being the Lawn Ranger, I guess. ;)

BTW, when I was out edging and weed whacking yesterday, the nabes' crazy mother came out to speak with me. She complimented me on what a good job I do with the yard and asked if I ever thought about doing it as a business. :D

Seriously, if QoH was a normal person and not a control freak and worry wart, I could easily make a business out of lawn maintenance. It's hell having someone like her as a parent. :/

How long before OUAT restarts?

That probably doesn't start back until October. I really haven't been keeping up with the OUAT gossip.

As for chess, I'm getting better at it, but haven't been playing it as much as before.

Unfortunately, the first season of Salem finished last night and won't be back until April of next year. The Witches of East End is back, and Halt and Catch Fire is still on, so I have 2 things to watch on Sundays.

I should probably try to do a drawing. Maybe a water color or something with color in general. I usually just do gray scale pencil drawings.

Hey, if your drawing turns out good I'd like to see it. :)

Lots and lots and lots. And it's all subtitled so kid learn to understand English as soon as they can read. These days they're of course also on the internet most of the time, which is why my 10 year old nephew speaks some pretty good English.

The oldest isn't very good at it and the middle one is also learning Latin and ancient Greek in school.

In general the Dutch do have a reputation for knowing languages but I'm not so sure we deserve such a reputation.

Maybe you should make a business plan for that. Just to kill some time. :)

Maybe a water color or something with color in general.

Have you ever tried using markers? Copic markers for instance? I have some colored markers but they're really for kids and not very good. I do have a big black marker for large-ish areas and that black really pops off the white water color paper. :)

I think you guys mainly have a reputation for speaking good English. I've heard peeps say when traveling over there that it's a good place for monolingual Americans because just about everyone speaks English. Also, it's like a "fake" foreign country and you're all just pretending to be foreigners but are really Americans with funny accents. LOL

Hey Arekino, you'll never believe what happened! I'm still kinda shocked myself.

That fanfic writer--the Dutch one--I left a comment on one thing in particular--you'll never believe it!--ya know how I say it's like some of these peeps can read my mind? Well anyway, ya know how I was asking about Guitar Hero and Rock Band a while back because I was doing research for a fic? Well, this person mentioned Guitar Hero in the fic but never got around to putting it into the story. So I dropped a comment about it(usually I only comment if the fic is *really* good, which it was in this case). Well, guess what? The fic was completed, but the next day when I went looking for something else to read, I noticed that that particular fic seemed to be updated with a new chapter. So I was like hold on, I'm pretty sure there were 11 chapters for that and not 12. So I clicked on it again to check it out, and HOLY SHIT! The author updated it just for me with an extra chapter with the Guitar Hero scene like I had requested + an invite to sign up over there(which I did).

I'm still kinda shocked that a perfect stranger would do that, and so quickly.

Anyway, the stupid site is making me wait 24 hours before I can use the PM feature(I already got a message waiting for me from the author)so I can thank her and discuss it further perhaps. :)

Have you ever tried using markers?

I've only ever had the cheap kind for kids. Anything I've ever tried to do with those turned out crappy.

I got some onyx black pencils and some specialty smudge/blending erasers a while back. I should maybe do some fancy gray scale drawing. :)

The author updated it just for me

That's possible. Or maybe the author got more requests like yours and decided to finish a partially written story. Demand breeds supply.

I should maybe do some fancy gray scale drawing.

Maybe you should. :)

Hey, do you still watch American Ninja Warrior? Have you seen this run by Kacy Catanzaro? Apparently she's the first woman to advance to the finals. Maybe you should give it a try as well? :)

Yes, you are right. ;P

Or maybe the author got more requests

No, I was the only one who mentioned it. She told me that she had meant to do a scene like that but forgot during the writing process. The bonus chapter author's note named me specifically and said she hoped I liked it. :)

Anyway, you peeps will be the death of me, encouraging both my writing and drawing. Now I have 2 projects to get to. :)

Too bad I never got such encouragement from my actual family. :/

Anyway, I had an idea for a short story based off of another story that I was reading over there. Maybe you'd like to hear it?

Hey, do you still watch American Ninja Warrior?

No.

Have you seen this run by Kacy Catanzaro?

Now I have. ;P

Maybe you should give it a try as well? :)

While I'd love to, I don't think I'm tall enough for some of the obstacles. :/

Hey, last night we reverse-engineered and cloned a certain name brand of black beans. They turned out *reeeeally* good. :)

I'm going to go have a late lunch with some of those now. I made a roasted pork loin as well. It's been a while since I've had a good Cuban style meal.

Anything cookin' at your end?

"We"? As in, you and your mother together? So you are able to interact peacefully and productively if you want to?

Yes, I am. I'm really jealous of your air conditioning ATM. We're expecting "tropical" temperatures over the next few days here. I hate this. Every part of my body feels sticky with sweat. It's especially annoying in the case of my hands and lower arms. Any time I try to draw the paper sticks to them. Grrrr.

And of course it's vacation time for the neighbours' kids so they'll be making noise all day. So good for my concentration.

It's been a while since I've had a good Cuban style meal.

What exactly is a Cuban style meal?

Yes and no. I can't stand being around her in the kitchen--too close for comfort--but I *did* get the soaking process started and figured out the other ingredients. I retreated to my room and let her prep and add the other ingredients and figure out the ratios. She can actually cook pretty well on her own. I came back for tasting purposes and to say whether it needed more or less of something.

So you are able to interact peacefully and productively if you want to?

I'm not the one who is unable to be civil. And shockingly, she sometimes can act almost normal. It's quite disconcerting. That never lasts long, though. Usually only a day at most then she's back to being nasty.

I'm really jealous of your air conditioning ATM.

Not to be nosy, but is the cost of electricity really so high that you couldn't get a small window-type unit for your room?

"tropical" temperatures, Every part of my body feels sticky with sweat

Ugh, the *worst*. It literally feels like you're melting. :/

Ya know if I was independently wealthy I'd just send for you. :)

vacation time for the neighbours' kids

Yeah, don't remind me. At least my bedroom is in the back of the house and the house in back is empty and the other 2 peeps on either side are quiet.

What exactly is a Cuban style meal?

Just Cuban food. Usually black beans and rice, plantains, pork of some variety. There are lots of things, but the beans and rice is the most important. :)

I don't really know. I doubt that installing an AC unit would be easy though. Especially in my bedroom where the windows are positioned in a diagonal fashion. Plus there's still the serious lack of sunshine 90% of the year. :)

if I was independently wealthy I'd just send for you.

If I was independently wealthy I'd be Batman. ;P

The drawing I've made is of said Batman BTW. I just need to add some kind of background now. But what should it be? :)

What about one of those free-standing upright ones that sit on the floor? Is something like that available? You shouldn't have to melt 10% of the year. ;P

I'd be Batman. ;P

So, you're into gadgets and funky-looking cars? And wearing black latex? (Hmmm, I'd like to see that! ;D) Do you have a subterranean Arekino Cave? ;P

But what should it be? :)

Maybe some ginormous Gotham buildings with gargoylezezzz?
