I'm serious...

Because I'll come over there!  LOL  This pic makes me titter like a fool.  And the cup in the pic is veeeerrrrry familiar looking...Old Country Roses...I *might* have some of those.  ;P

Why is it that guys named Frank are either badass mafia enforcers/hitmen or just some poor bastard?  ;D

Why? It's mildly interesting, sure, but I'm not exactly ROFL'ing ATM.

Old Country Roses

They look rather tawdry, IMHO. Besides, those kinds of cups usually have really thin walls and I prefer them thicker.

I'm sure that's just a movie thing. There are probably plenty of Franks out there who are living very average lives. I guess you don't know any Franks in real life?

You and Sir Mix A Lot. ;P

Those fancy ones are mainly for display purposes only, or if there was company to impress.

I guess you don't know any Franks in real life?

I know/have known a few. It's a kinda popular name on my dad's side of the family. I was friends in grade school with one. My mechanic's name is Frank. Hmm, isn't 'mechanic' movie slang for an assassin? ;P

BTW, there was a horrific accident yesterday near a friend's old house involving a wood chipper. The poor bastard got Fargo'd. I didn't realize what I was looking at for a sec(it was on the news)and then when I did, I've been grossed out ever since. That shit is so disturbing on so many levels. Same thing happened to a little kid a year or so ago in NJ. So awful. You'd think they'd have better safety features on those things. :/

He... He likes big butts. Nothing wrong with that... :/

Only if Charles Bronson is in it. Such a joker. ;)

it was on the news

I find it hard to believe they showed his remains/giblets.

That shit is so disturbing on so many levels.

It was probably a quick death, probably painless. But yeah, it's disturbing. How can such a thing even happen?

Damn channel 7. They had a helicopter hovering over the scene and the camera dude had the shot focused in on the back of the truck. It was really full with wood chips and then I realized that I was seeing the red splotch in the middle of the light-colored wood chips. :/

Channel 4 had a helicopter on scene, too, but their camera guy had it panned out to a wide shot and you couldn't see anything.

I'm still grossed out. I really feel for the peeps on scene. I'm sure they'll be in need of counseling. I can't even imagine being one of the coroner peeps who had to retrieve all the pieces. I'd never want to work in the medical examiner's office. I absolutely DO NOT have the stomach for that kinda thing. :/

How can such a thing even happen?

IDK, those things are very powerful. You'd think the peeps using the machine would be trained to use it properly. Maybe as the guy was throwing in a branch it got caught in his clothing and pulled him in, too. I can't imagine anyone being so stupid as to reach into the thing.

I think maybe I could handle the gore but have a hard time with those people who need that counselling.

Nigeria vs Argentina was quite fun to watch. I'm looking forward to Nigeria vs France.

My oldest nephew called today to ask me to help him with his math tomorrow. Of course I said yes even though last time it seemed to me I was more of a hindrance than a help. He got a call from his school that he might not make it this year (again) and he's probably getting a bit desperate. He'll have to move to another school if he fails to improve. Somehow I doubt that only helping him with his math will make much of a difference but I'll do my best anyway.

I started a new drawing today, just a way to 'get into it' again, hopefully. Let's see how this ends up.

How's your week going so far?

Is your nephew having trouble with all his subjects or is it only math? Does he have a learning disability maybe?

I was always shit at math. I *could* say that I don't know how I managed to get through honors level courses like calculus and physics, but I *do* know--I cheated. I wrote all those formulas and equations that I was supposed to memorize on the cover of my calculator's instruction manual. :D

I guess that makes me kind of an asshole to be proud of that. Too bad. My home life was shit and hell, I had to do something to level the playing field. Sigh, too bad school couldn't be all history, English lit, and art. :/

I started a new drawing today

Is it kewl?

How's your week going so far?

Like usual. QoH is annoying as always. I managed to mow the weeds yesterday even though it felt like at least 95 degrees with lots of humidity to boot. I did one section for maybe 30-45 minutes until I was feeling close to overheating and then came in and cooled off/rested for maybe and hour and a half, then went back out and finished up the rest of the yard that can be seen from the front(another 30 minutes). I came in and rested again for an hour or so, then went back out and finished up the back yard. By the time I got around to tidying up with the leaf blower it was around 8pm. Good thing it doesn't get dark until 8:30ish. :)

I still need to weed whack some spots out back and trim the plumbagos, but it's *reeeally* hot again today. :/

His parents had him tested, I think, and he seems to not ave any particular learning disabilities. I suspect he simply just doesn't like math or studying in general. Plus he's got the arrogance of an adolescent and the self-discipline of one. He not an idiot but he does really work hard enough I think. Maybe he's a bit spoiled as well.

too bad school couldn't be all history, English lit, and art

In this country it is possible to get diplomas for those subjects separately in special cases.

Is it kewl?

It's just a sketch ATM. I'll have too wait and see. If it's not kewl I'll just have to make another one.

but it's *reeeally* hot again today.

Can't you buy one of those inflatable pools so you can cool off in it? You can put a parasol next to it and throw in a floating platform for a drink. :)

No comment. ;P

But seriously, if it's making him have to repeat a grade, he really need to get it together enough to pass.

Which particular math is it? Algebra or maybe trig? Or are you lot up to calculus yet?

I really sucked at math. It's only by some miracle that I passed with a B my senior year. I actually never got lower than a B as a final grade, but I *did* fuck up a couple times bad enough to get a C, almost a D in the middle of a year. That was really a jolt and caused me to try to get my shit together. In my class it would have been particularly shameful to not do well. Too much was expected of me without any support.

arrogance of an adolescent and the self-discipline of one

Ah yes, I know it well. I relied too much on memory to get me through. I'd have a hard time getting too upset with him, but he still needs to man up and do it.

In this country it is possible to get diplomas for those subjects separately in special cases.

I'm in the wrong country. ;P

If it's not kewl I'll just have to make another one.

I'd like to see it if it's kewl. :)

one of those inflatable pools

I have one of those plastic ones like for babies. It was for the dogs, but they were afraid of it. One of them put a hole in it, but I think it could be repaired with some duct tape. Probably get killed by lightning if I tried to use it. :/

Central A/C is safer. ;P

Are you still having pleasant temps?

Simple equation solving, quadratic equations, basic trigonometry, exponential growth and some statistics stuff.

I'd like to see it if it's kewl.

It turned out a bit meh, I think. I tried out my coloured pencils this time which was not entirely satisfactory. Ah well, once more unto the breach, my friend.

Probably get killed by lightning if I tried to use it. :/

Actually, that doesn't sound at all probable. As long as you don't use it during a thunderstorm.

Central A/C is safer.

But how much fun can you have with an A/C?

Are you still having pleasant temps?

I would say yes. It's a bit of a Dutch summer so far. ;)

I can say with absolute certainty that I *would* be drained dry by mosquitoes. :/

A cool Xul is a happy Xul. You don't want to see me hot and miserable. That's not fun for anyone.

Do you have any fun summer holidays to look forward to? It's July 4th in 7 days. I just might have to grill some chicken and steak. Maybe some hot dogs, too. :)

Oh, come on. Is math really that terrible to you? A lot of it is based on some very simple principles. How far did you get in school WRT math?

I *would* be drained dry by mosquitoes. :/

Really? Do you get those in the house as well? Do you have a mosquito net that envelopes your bed?

You don't want to see me hot and miserable.

Hot yes, miserable no. ;P

Do you have any fun summer holidays to look forward to?

Nope. Most people go on holiday in the summer AFAIK. Basically, the entire summer *is* a holiday (well, for a few weeks). :)

It's July 4th in 7 days.

Hm, I wonder if the USA will make it to the quarter finals. Some of those matches are played on the 4th of July. Could get interesting. :)

What does WRT stand for?

I *did* manage to pass calculus and physics. The calculus teacher was a very perceptive woman and a helluva good teacher. The physics teacher, while a nice guy, just didn't have the knack for teaching the subject. The cool thing was that the calculus teacher could always tell when the students were having difficulty and would stop and explain things until everyone got it before moving on. She even helped us with our physics work. The best thing was we had her class before lunch and the other guy after lunch, so we'd get her to help with our physics homework which we would complete during lunch and then be good to go. :)

Really?

Yes, really. I went outside for less than 2 minutes yesterday to do something and got 6 mosquito bites. :/

Do you get those in the house as well?

Once in a while one of the little bastards will sneak in.

Do you have a mosquito net that envelopes your bed?

No, it's not like this is Africa. (almost, though) ;P

We *do* have screens in the windows. Besides, we run the A/C *all the time* so the windows are never opened. :)

Hot yes, miserable no. ;P

Mmmm... ;)

I wonder if the USA will make it to the quarter finals

I have no confidence in that happening. They were lucky to advance after the first round.

Hey, guess who I saw in a movie the other night? None other than Meg Foster. I had been wondering what happened to her. It was some Rob Zombie movie called The Lords of Salem. I was flipping around looking for something and landed on that for a moment. I was like 'Hey...I know those eyes...is that?' and because the movie was terrible and I was too impatient to wait for the credits I just googled it. Sure enough!

OUAT should hire her for a part. She's very good with witch/sorceress parts. I guess she's kinda type-cast that way.

Well, maybe. Oh, if they win their next match will be on July 5th not 4th. I'd misread that.

She looks a bit leathery these days. :/

NL soccer is bad for peeps with heart conditions. Watching it could also give one a heart condition. :/

I was concerned they weren't going to win that one. Huzzah for PK's!

In other news, I realized last night that we have 15 free channels of HBO and Cinemax. All those channels and the only 2 movies that I like are Red 2 and The Wolverine.(got Wolverine on now) Mmmmm, nekkid buff Hugh Jackman! :)

Yeah, it can be. Even though they didn't play a really good match and they had had some bad luck, they still managed to pull through in the last minutes of the game. I almost feel sorry for the Mexican team, almost. :)

Red 2 and The Wolverine.

The Wolverine is the one in Japan, right? I guess it's okay. I hope someday they'll take a more realistic approach towards the x-men stories à la Nolan's Batman trilogy.

I have not yet seen Red 2. What's it like?

Yes

It would have been better if it was just 2 hours of Hugh Jackman nekkid in the tub being scrubbed down by the 2 old Japanese ladies. :D

God, that man's body is a work of art. :)

I have not yet seen Red 2. What's it like?

Kinda meh. The first one was much better, and then QoH came and yammered on and on and on for the last 35 minutes of the movie. If I was to do that to her while she was trying to hear something on the TV she would be pissed and carry on with drama like a child having a tantrum.

Oh, I also got to see most of The Hobbit. That was also just kinda meh. Didn't really follow the original story. I think they incorporated The Silmarillion into it IIRC.

Well, he is in the art business. Are there any other male masterpieces you like to admire?

How would that be different from how she normally is? ;P

The Silmarillion

Never read it. I've only ever read The Hobbit years ago. It wasn't a very big book. So, easy. :)

Let me just wish your USA soccer team good luck with the match today BTW. If they win we might see a USA VS NL. :)

None that I can think of, and I watch a lot of MMA--lots of buff dudes there. None can compare. :)

Exactly. I had one of those books + records when I was a kid of The Hobbit. The movie was not the story that I remember. I guess The Desolation of Smaug movie is supposed to be more like the book. I never read Silmarillion either. I just recall a review somewhere saying that parts of it were incorporated into the movie.

If they win we might see a USA VS NL. :)

I would still be cheering for NL. :)

So, is this year the year? ;P

Hey, got to see The Conjuring last night(last night of free movies). It wasn't too bad. I'm guessing the couple in the movie who did the ghost busting are the real life inspiration for a bunch of different movies, even Friday the 13th the series.

I wonder if anyone will ever do a movie showing the real way to get rid of demonzezzz? ;P

Oh! I forgot to mention that I also watched the movie Oblivion with Tom Cruise. It wasn't too horrible, although I don't really care for movies that plod along with no real purpose and then everything is revealed in the last 20 minutes.

BTW, NL will be playing against Costa Rica. If USA should somehow manage to win vs Belgium(and they are playing craptastically as usual) they will be playing against Argentina. LOL

If NL doesn't win the whole shebang, Argentina would be my 2nd favorite to win it.
