Just for the record, getting stabbed in the eye by a dragon tree really sucks.  That is all.

Here's a video to look at:

I'm so sorry to hear that. That must have really hurt. Is your eye okay?

Thanks for the song. Do you like White Wedding as well?

It happened over a month ago, but sometimes my eye starts hurting like it just happened. It sucks. And all of the good drugs(eye drops)from QoH's surgery were used up so I'm SOL on that front. :(

Do you like White Wedding as well?

Of course. :) I'm a big Billy Idol fan. If one of his songs comes on the radio or Sirius it *must* get cranked up. ;P

Oh holy hell! Look what day it is! I have to hurry up finishing your B-day gift! ;D

You've been walking around with this injury for over a month? :o Did you see a doctor for it? If not you should go now.

What kind of eye drop medication did you use? It's generally not a good idea to use other peoples' medication.

I'm a big Billy Idol fan.

So you liked him when you were just a kid? His songs are from mid to late eighties, I think.

I'm actually treating an injury of my own ATM. My left shoudler has some kid of inflamation. I went to the doctor last friday and she gave me some diclofenac. It seems to be helping. I've had this kind of injury before a couple of times and that same medication worked fine then.

Please get your eye looked after.

It was only bothering me right after it happened and then the next day. Then suddenly last week, it started bothering me after I had been reading on the computer for a long time. Then it flared up again the other night, once again after a lot of reading on the computer.

Did you see a doctor for it?

Of course not.

What kind of eye drop medication did you use?

Just some OTC anti-redness drops.

It's generally not a good idea to use other peoples' medication.

Eye drops are a bit different, methinks. ;)

It's just annoying. It wasn't bothering me at all until all the reading. Once I put it away and go to sleep I'm fine when I wake up the next day.

So you liked him when you were just a kid?

I became aware of him when I was over 12 IIRC. I still like his music, unlike other bands/artists who I used to like when I was a teen and now I can't stand.

My left shoudler has some kind of inflammation.

What did you do to it? Sounds like you need a good massage. :)

I could use a massage myself ATM. I did a heavy arm and shoulder workout last night and I'm a little stiff and sore after waking up today. It's funny how peeps who are prisoners seem to default to working out. Oh well, at least I'll have a killer body even if no one gets to see it. :/

Please get your eye looked after

That is not possible. It'll just have to be a DIY project.

So what is your line of reasoning here? Are we talking bacterial infection or simple eye damage that doesn't heal because your eye isn't getting enough rest?

Just some OTC anti-redness drops.

Which type/brand? Eye drops can contain all sorts of things

That is not possible.

That sounds awfully frickin' sad, dear Xul. Even if I'd just stubbed my big toe I could just go for a little visit to the doc. Anyone here could.

Not that I go there often. In fact I probably should have gone their sooner for my shoulder. I wouldn't mind a massage either... in a week or so. Right now it's be too painful.

I became aware of him when I was over 12 IIRC.

Even then you had good taste apparently. :) I was rather heavily into Queen at about that age. It was kinda weird when Freddy Mercury died some years later. I do still like their music.

There is no infection that I can tell. I just looked in the mirror and thought that one vein looked a little inflamed but then when I compared it to the other eye, that one was matching. Huh. I think I just got stuck with the pointy end of the leaf in just the right(or wrong) spot. It's just healing up slowly and it hurts whenever it gets strained from too much computer time. :/

Which type/brand?

Bausch & Lomb sensitive eyes. I only used it right after the incident and then the day after.

Even if I'd just stubbed my big toe I could just go for a little visit to the doc.

I should probably rephrase...it's quite possible to go to a doc, it's not like the politicians here like to bleat that there's "no access to health care". I have all kinds of access. It's just a cost/benefit analysis thing. I don't have the $ to go running to a doc for every little thing, and in my experience, they don't do much for you to warrant the $. An ophthalmologist is just going to look at it, say there's no inflammation, let it heal on its own, and then give me some drops that I could buy at the drug store for a fraction of the price, and give me a big bill after seeing me for all of 5 minutes after I've waited in the waiting room for an hour or 2. It's more trouble than it's worth.

BTW, you're very cute when you're concerned. ;D

Right now it's be too painful.

WTH did you do to it? Are you just *that* old and getting arthritic? ;P I wouldn't mind giving you a massage BTW. ;)

Even then you had good taste apparently.

I have excellent taste in music. ;P

Billy Idol has a sexy voice. :)

It was kinda weird when Freddy Mercury died some years later

I remember that as my friend Alex (who got me into metal)was very bummed when he died. I'll always relate Queen to the Highlander movie and Flash Gordon. :)

Okay, now I just feel very, very dirty like I need a shower. I think I need to lay off the fanfics for a while. That last one that I read was just too psychologically disturbing...and kinky. There are some creepy-ass peeps out there. It started out darkly humorous and made me LOL a few times but then it got all kinky and wrong. No, no, no, no, no. I just don't see the appeal of all that S&M and humiliation stuff.

For someone who sometimes looks the part, for all my black leather and intensity, I'm a mushy romantic at heart. That stuff did nothing but gross me out. Now I'm sporting a Grumpy Cat face. :(

It was a beautiful bird. I think it was the same one I saw a couple month ago swooping down to get something on the roof.

Okay, your eye, your choice. (And perhaps your eye-patch :P )

So are a lot of OUAT fan fiction writers attracted to that then? I guess I can understand the role playing somewhat. Some of the characters do lend themselves well to dom roles.

Hey, I got my glasses a couple days early. I'll send some pics ASAP.

I'm watching The Killing BTW a danish cop show. It's quite good.

(And perhaps your eye-patch :P )

I was wearing one last night actually. Quite a look. ;P Although seeing with only one eye kinda sucks. :/

So are a lot of OUAT fan fiction writers attracted to that then?

I wouldn't say *a lot*. I just don't like when a trigger warning is left out of the summary. You think you are in for something that sounds tame and it goes all 50 Shades 'n' shit.

Got me all triggered and cringing. Then I got mad and had to start over-analyzing why I was triggered. Needless to say, my default answer should be 'because it's something that QoH did/does'. Started doing research on the internet(the internet was dead set on pushing my buttons last night)and found out something disturbing about my old self. Then got all wound up at the PD forum.

Anyhoo, I'm all keyed up because QoH has been particularly annoying and triggering lately. It's bad enough that I feel like I'm a prisoner here, but at least my "cell" felt like a bit of an oasis. Now she's been coming in here frequently and violating my space or standing in my doorway blocking it. It makes me feel trapped and I don't like it.

Then I only got like 4.5 hours of sleep last night because of being pissed off at QoH, her BS, and her new torture: running the heat. I swear, the Great Thermostat Battle of 2014 just might have a casualty.

Which brings up another peeve of mine. On TV and in these stories I read, peeps don't seem to understand the logistics of "planting something" in the "back garden" if you catch my drift. I have experience with this, and just digging the hole takes at least an hour working by yourself and with a shovel. For a proper size hole, it's going to be around 1.5 hours. Then there's the matter of dragging what needs to be planted. Not so easy if you are female, especially if the "plant" is your weight or heavier. It's a real effing chore and workout. First, you are exhausted from all the digging, then it's a real bitch for the dragging part. Then you have to fill it all back. It's amazing how the volume of dirt expands when it's taken out of the ground. Leaves an unmistakeable amount of evidence. Then the other thing--soil quality. My soil is ideal as it's mostly sand and very few rocks. It's a bitch digging through rocks. I can well imagine how difficult it would be if the soil was heavy clay or like some places where there's a lot of limestone--that would be practically impossible.

Another thing, I'm trying to learn to tie a trinity knot and it's not going so well. At one of my old jobs the regulars wore ties. It would have been a useful skill to impress peeps with, better than the ol' four-in-hand knot.

So it's getting colder over there? Same thing over here. We had a wonderfully cold day yesterday. Not so great today as it was also wet. In a town called Delfzijl they actually had snow falling.

It's no longer in the DSM, but I checked 7 of 8 traits for Sadistic Personality Disorder(my old self). I'm not that way anymore, just like I'm no longer Avoidant or have really bad social anxiety, but hot damn! I knew I used to be a piece of work but holy shit! that's kinda sobering! (Not really surprising from my upbringing, though.)

So it's getting colder over there?

An extended cool streak. The lows have only been in the high 40's, though.

QoH was annoying me last night and beating around the bush about bringing her orchids in, she wouldn't just come out and ask me to do it, she kept doing the 'don't you think we should X' nonsense and I just snapped and told her why don't you just ask me if that's what you want. Between that and the fucking heat being blown into my cell since I've the room right next to the central air unit, I stormed outside in a tank top, shorts and flip flops despite the temperature. It felt really good to me after being baked alive.

After bringing the orchids in, I did a leg workout.

Allegedly there was a some snow in Lakeland(near Tampa) last night.

For a sec I thought you were talking about anal sex there

Ew. That part of the anatomy is an exit not an entrance. I don't know why peeps like that.

What's the problem you're having?

I'm having trouble with the diagram and I think I need a longer and skinnier tie. :/

Oh, you have mail BTW. :)

Who needs blankets when you have central heating. QoH *still* has the thermostat set to heat even though it has warmed up to 70F outside. That's what really grinds my gears--in the summer she'll have the thing set to around 68F and she could have that for free right now if she'd open the damn windows, but NO!!! She wants it hotter in here than she likes it any other time of year. Effing mental.

you could be pregnant. :D

Silly goose! That's hardly going to happen with me doing DIY(Although maybe I've been doing it a little tooo strenuously? ;P).

Well, we turn the heating off at night. Or at least, it won't turn itself on if the temperature in the house is above 15 degrees Celsius or something.

Hopefully I'll have your birthday gift finished by tonight. I'll send it along a day early I think. I want you to have it on time(and also I'm worse than a little kid and want to see your reaction ;P).

I had a surge of inspiration last night. Had some extra ideas after I went to bed(of course, that's always when my brain goes into 5th gear). Trying to at least keep it to PG-13. ;P Let's just say I had an absolutely inspired idea but I'm trying to keep it tame. ;P

No pressure. ;D

So I guess you liked it?

Anyway, whatcha doin' ?

Watching that 'you asked for it' video over and over and laughing like a mental patient.

I watched Forget Paris for the first time last year. I can't believe I never watched it before then. It's something my sister would have liked, too. We would have been laughing so hard to the point of not being able to breath and in pain, and likely rolling on the couch or ground. We used to get like that watching Benny Hill(my mother *hated* that program so it made it all the funnier).

Anyway, that old dude and that line is one of my favorite ear worms. I sometimes find myself walking around saying that in that same gravelly voice over and over a la Rain Man. Cuz I'm obviously nuts. ;P

The other most recent ear worm is the commercial for I don't know what...some phone commercial, I think...with James Earl Jones and Malcolm McDowell dramatically acting out the texts of 2 teenage girls. The ending with the phrase "totes ma goats" or something like that cracks me up. I'll walk around repeating that line, too. Yeah, I'm totally nuts. ;P

I'm thinking about culling some crap from my room. It needs it. I'll have to work up to the 'doing' stage though. ;P

And what about you? Did you have some nice pie with your sis and family? Get anything?

Sure, it was a well written story. It was quite imaginative with lots of fun detail that gave it an almost tangible texture. I got a bit of a succubus vibe from it here and there which was a little weird for me but you have to remember I've never actually done (or have done to me) any of the things you described.

culling some crap

That's always a hard decision to make. What goes, what stays?

Did you have some nice pie with your sis and family?

I did. My sister unfortunately couldn't make it. She has a massive headache and had to stay at home in bed. She phoned this morning and congratulated me though.

Get anything?

Ah, such is life. I had planned to go on a long walk today but my oldest nephew came round asking me to help him with his math homework. So only a short walk today. I guess it was QoH in your case? Did she have to go to the doc again?

So now I'm watching the second series of The Killing. Those Danes make some great crime shows. It's funny, they all have some pretty good actors that I've still never heard of. I wonder what other quality shows are out there that I'm missing because they're from a different country?

Thanks very much for your good wishes. :)

it was QoH in your case?

Yes and no. I had to get up on the roof and try to detect where it was leaking. I know *why* it's leaking and if I was on my own and didn't live with QoH I would have stripped the damn thing down to the decking and ripped out the boards that the idiot roofers put in incorrectly(they have 3 or so nails driven in at an angle and they have split the board. Then they covered it up by shingling over it). Then I would just patch the spot with new shingles. But QoH would throw a fit if I tried to do that, as if patching a roof is some magical thing that only a few know how to do. So I just pacify and appease her by slopping some tar over the spot. It'll hold for a while and then I have to do it again eventually. :/

She *does* have her doc appt today so I'll be tied up with that, too.

The Killing

I think they made an American version of that. It was supposed to be pretty good but I never watched it. Those skandis make some good TV and movies that Hollywood likes to copy. :)

I wonder what other quality shows are out there that I'm missing because they're from a different country?

The kiwis make some good ones also. I watched Top of the Lake a while back. It was :O

And that French one Les Revenants.

Any friend? They'd probably like that. I might start spending more time outside the house. Of course my mother would complain if I ever started going out in the evening.

A girlfriend? They'd be surprised. My father would probably like it. My mother would be distrustful of her. Also, as she probably expects me to not leave here until they have both passed away, she'd get worried that I would leave the house to go live with said girlfriend. That could lead to some tension and drama.

You? Hard to say.

QoH would be most displeased. :)

My mother doesn't have a good thing to say about anyone I know. And it's not like my friends are assholes. All of them are regular and decent peeps. It's just the NPD way--they always have to fault find and be hyper critical and do everything they can to make you stop seeing the friend. Ns are very possessive and they can't stand sharing their "possession" with anyone. My mother is even worse as she seems to be OCPD as well as NPD. :/

You? Hard to say.

Well, I *am* an Evil Regal and all that *that* entails, but I'm also super awesome. I'm very charming. Parents love me. ;P

Still funny to hear Matt Damon speak Dutch. :)

Does he mangle it very badly?

That reminds me of a guy I used to work with. He was from Sicily but had lived in New York for maybe 40 years before moving down here. He definitely had a New York accent but you'd never know he was from Italy aside from him proudly proclaiming it. He used to criticize anyone on TV pretending to be Italian or claiming to know about Italy. No one ever seemed to get it right in his book. The funniest one was an episode of Anthony Bourdain in Italy where he tried to cook some traditional dish and it didn't turn out so well. The Italians sitting around the table were all like, "WTF is this shit?" saying it in Italian and it wasn't edited out of the show. I guess they didn't think anyone in the US would know. LOL

Anyway, I wonder what I'd sound like speaking Dutch. Probably not too bad as I have a good ear for accents. Some words I'd definitely have to practice as you lot have that throat-clearing thing + the R rolling. ;P

Actually, he does quite well. I think maybe he had a Flemish instructor going by the pronunciation but the wording is Dutch in style.

as you lot have that throat-clearing thing + the R rolling.

That depends on which part of the country your thinking of. The mid-West has a very English sounding R and the South has a very "soft" G. Does Florida have a lot of regional accents?

I have to do something for some old peeps on Friday

Would that be an expression of your true self or your false self. ;P

Both. ;P ;D

Does Florida have a lot of regional accents?

Florida is a very odd place. The southern part, mainly the south-east, is distinctly Northern(or at least it used to be before the heavy Caribbean and Central and South American influx)as in being like New York(except we dislike New Yorkers). The Northern part of the state has always been Southern in culture and accents(they dislike New Yorkers even more). The west coast(mainly the Tampa area) is like the Midwest(Ohioans and such). Then there are the very rare Native Floridians like myself who were born here. We can recognize each other by being the only ones who know how to correctly pronounce things that are Seminole words. ;P There's also a sort of accent that other native S Floridians kinda have. I don't know how to describe it exactly, but you just kinda recognize it.

Tomorrow? Cool. Things are looking up. :)

Yes. Plus I got another one just for myself in 2 weeks and then maybe another possible thing. :)

We've got frozen ponds over here

Is it going to be cold long enough for them to freeze hard enough for ice skating?

Oh, BTW, do you have any ice skating rinks near you? What about roller skating? Was that ever a thing where you live?
