OUAT S3 Eps 9 & 10

So the last episode(S3 E9) I wasn't so sure if I was going to like it or not.  It started out with Regina being all antsy and dissatisfied and wanting a baby. I was like, *finally* we are going to find out how Regina got Henry!

Okay, it didn't go *exactly* like that.  It was more like Regina storming into Rump's shop and being all like, "I want a baby! And you're going to help me!"  And Rump was like, "Sorry, not interested."  And Regina replied with her best snark-castic tone, "Not like *that*!"  Which I found to be totally chortle-worthy.

Then the way they showed the adoption was just totally unrealistic and it didn't really show *how* Rumple was able to locate Henry.  It just provoked more questions than answers.  That was the weakest part of the episode IMO.  But then Regina turned all uber hero and was kicking ass big time and saving the day for everyone and that was just so awesome and I loved all of that.

And not to forget that one creepy-ass scene with Regina and the potion toward the end.  A commenter at the tv.com site had this to say:

"No Rolling Stones "Mother's Little Helper" jokes? I'm shocked."

Which totally cracked me up because I was in the car a couple days after that episode aired and that song came on the radio and that's the first thing that I thought of--Regina and that potion.  LOL

And one more quote from over there:

"Regina made this amazing transition from villain to like super hero, and all the characters were totally affirming it like “oh wait that’s right Regina has raised Henry for 11 years wow great job” and “whoa Regina is insanely powerful, almost all-powerful and her lipstick is perfect no matter WHAT” and I concur with all of that."

I concur with all of that, too. ;P  And:

"Lana Parrilla put so much undeniable, natural maternal affection into her scene with Jared Gilmore, just talking about video games and pizza, it was devastating. She was his mom. It was such a reversal from the weirdo Regina from Season 2 who kept creeping on Henry whenever the Charmings let him out of the house long enough to hang up a birdhouse, and the character of Regina made so much more sense as a smart, powerful, protective maternal figure and the other characters made so much more sense for embracing her and appreciating that about her (ESPECIALLY Henry)."

And all of that was just so awesome.  Lana totally needs an Emmy.  I was having feels like an unhinged, emotionally unbalanced person.  But could we just end it there on a happy note?  Oh hells no!  The writers just can't give anyone some breathing room. Which leads me to today after watching last night's episode...

(sorry if this sounds a bit disjointed, but I've been writing down my thoughts as they came to me, now I'm trying to organize them into a decent post)

Ooooooooh, I'm sooo PISSED right now!  At the end of last week's episode, just when you thought one issue was resolved, they have to go directly into *another* crisis.  I was really annoyed with that.  I was like, 'Why the fuck can't they just resolve something and then go on to have a couple eps where we work on relationships and character growth?'  And I was not the only one who thought that, as this quote from Lily Sparks reveals:

"Can we not?! Can we just have one episode centered on relationship-driven drama? A smattering of comedy of manners, a touch of character development via meaningful conversations? God knows there’s enough twisted family interactions in this world to craft a seriously juicy soap opera. Can't we see just one big family dinner? Do we really have to do all this running around/screaming/finding macguffins/he’s got the woozle but we’ve got the wazzle/somebody kiss/HENRY OMG HENRY...interspersed with people quoting each other verbatim as a stand-in for relationship growth?...So yeah, there was definitely a sense of “This again?” "

Now, we are back to some lazy ass hackneyed old plot.  I was like, 'Oh, for fuck's sake!  Not *this* shit again!'  They are really pissing me off with lazy writing.  Revisiting this old shit is a really lazy way to get the LBs, the Ds, and everyone else back home.

And they also killed off a sorta main character!  I totally didn't see that coming.  (I guess the actor got a sweeter deal on another show.)  But I wasn't too upset by it.  That character had it coming IMO.  Regina had been an advocate on another character's behalf and this particular character acted like a total ass concerning the situation.  Then the next thing ya know, BAM!  Karma was a bitch and she came a callin' like a mafia enforcer.  Also, the stupid flashbacks that don't serve to reveal any new information but are there just to be filler are getting to be be very annoying.  :(

Anyhoo, I can't write too much here or SPOILERS!!! But I will say that the writers better have something else in mind in the next episode 'cuz I don't want to go into winter break with some stupid-ass cliffhanger that we've already seen before.

Which you will be keeping me posted on. ;)

The results of the blood test were okay. One thing was less than ideal but not worryingly so. I may have to work on that. I also managed to obtain another trip to the hospital for an eye test. That's next Tuesday.

And Rump was like, "Sorry, not interested."

I think that's understandable considering the affair he had with Cora.

It just provoked more questions than answers.

Which I'm sure was the plan.:)

Henry was born outside Storybrook, right? So, assuming Mr. Gold didn't yet know he is Rumplestiltsken and that Regina never found a way to leave the town then a third character must have brought Henry to Storybrook. Someone we don't know yet, I suspect.

Henry must have literally rattled Regina's cage though. I mean, if he grew up in Storybrook then that means he was perhaps the only one who grew older there. Must have been bad for the curse. :P

I don't want to go into winter break with some stupid-ass cliffhanger that we've already seen before.

But you do want some kind of cliffhanger, right? ;P

I'll see what I can do about the selfies. ;)

Well, you *are* getting close to old peep territory and they need to do many tests to confirm when you finally get there! ;P

Anyway, glad everything is mostly okay. :)

Henry was born outside Storybrook, right?

Correct.

assuming Mr. Gold didn't yet know he is Rumplestiltsken

That's part of the problem. The writers said that he didn't have his memories until Emma first came to town and he heard her name, then he suddenly remembered everything. But re-watching the ep, it seems like somehow Rumple worked Regina having a need for a child to fill the hole in her heart into the curse and that child would be the son of Emma. That was sorta hinted at in a flashback between Rump and Reg pre-curse. Also, after some drama with Henry and Regina thinking something was wrong with him, she pulled some strings to find out who the birth mother was. Then, after *that* revelation, Regina went and cussed Rump up and down accusing him of knowing all of that but he just stood their either playing dumb or not really knowing. So it's all very questionable.

Regina never found a way to leave the town

Regina was the only one able to leave the town as she was the curse caster. It had been speculated on message boards that Regina might be able to leave and that ep confirmed it, as she was the one to go pick up Henry herself. I didn't like the retcon they did for that as, without spoiling more than I already have, it was just a plot manipulation to bring in other characters and the current story line.

Must have been bad for the curse. :P

It was. That's why I think Rump had all that planned out and worked into his master plan. His main goal was to go to "a land without magic" to be able to find his son, but he needed someone else to cast the curse(groomed Regina since she was a teen)but couldn't stay in a cursed state forever, therefore needed Henry, who wasn't cursed and could age to grow up and see that there was something fishy going on, seek out his birth mother who just happens to be the savior, and then break the curse and Rump can resume his search for his son. Very clever and tricksy on his part.

Also, that's why Regina had Henry going to see Dr. Hopper, so Hopper could convince Henry that he was nuts or it was all in his mind.

But you do want some kind of cliffhanger, right? ;P

I'd rather have everyone taking a break from running from crisis to crisis. At least three couples need to spend some time having hot monkey sex, Regina and her two new besties(well, one is kinda an old bestie)should be out shopping and having girl time together, Regina and Emma should be working on co-parenting, Emma needs to move out of her parent's place(for fuck's sake, literally and figuratively, there are *3* generations living in a freakin' studio apartment!). At least there are rooms with doors over at Regina's, I'm sure she could work something out. Let these peeps chill for an ep or two, then get on to the next crisis after the winter break. ;P

I'll see what I can do about the selfies. ;)

Yay!!! Are the new sweaters those horrible holiday ones with edelweiss and reindeer or are they sexy and stylish?

BTW, how is the bathroom coming along? Is your Ma one of these types who has to do it all herself because she is the only one capable of doing it the right way? Cuz that certainly holds up progress. How could a bathroom take that long to clean anyway?

Plausible. Works for me. :)

Can't have a story without conflict to resolve. I wonder if Mary Margaret will ever go back to teaching? :)

Nope.

I don't know.

how is the bathroom coming along?

No progress today.

Is your Ma one of these types who has to do it all herself because she is the only one capable of doing it the right way?

Yes, I think so. Cleaning used to be her job. She's good at it and she knows it. It's a matter of self-respect for her well, I think.

And anyone who was not in the Enchanted forest at the time the curse was cast, or those protected under Cora's magic dome. Currently, if I'm counting and recalling correctly, there are 7 peeps in Storybrooke who can leave without having consequences. No, wait...there are 12 + an unspecified number of certain peeps who were brought over from a certain place. ;P

And it was not shown how she chose Henry as the one to adopt?

No, they just handed him over like he was some random kid. If he was born in Arizona when Emma was still in jail, how the hell did he wind up at an adoption agency in Boston? And how would Rump, if he *didn't* have his memories, know that Henry was at that particular agency at that particular time when Regina just happened to be jonesing for a kid at that particular moment?

Can't have a story without conflict to resolve.

Yeah, and some cockamamie way for Regina to get back to the Enchanted Forest so she can hook up with her new twue wuv snuggle bear honey bunny. ;P I wonder if he smells of pine trees? ;D

I wonder if Mary Margaret will ever go back to teaching? :)

I think she wants to start having lots of sex so she can have another kid(she said that in a recent ep)and then there will be an easy explanation for Ginny's baby bump(that is starting to show). IIRC, she also wants to go back to EF and reclaim her kingdom. It all seems like a smack in the face to Emma, like she is getting abandoned a second time.

Yes, I think so.

I think I *might* know the type. ;P

In other news, it was so sunny and warm today that it would have been a perfect beach day. Florida problems. ;P ;P ;P

How are things at your end? Any more fog? Any sign of snow in the foreseeable future?

Why do you ask that? I mean, he didn't send Regina there and he wasn't there himself. He may have known upfront (before the Curse) that Regina would find Henry because of the future the seeer had shown him. You think he was actively involved in that?

I wonder if he smells of pine trees? ;D

That's a hint, isn't it? :o

I'm thinking it's either Paul Bunyan or Winnie-The-Pooh. ;P

It all seems like a smack in the face to Emma, like she is getting abandoned a second time.

Maybe they can arrange some kind of permanent portal for accasional visits? :)

Any sign of snow in the foreseeable future?

We've had frost during the night a couple of times now. So it's certainly getting colder. Snow doesn't usually fall before Christmas though. Januari is generally the "snow month".

Convenient plot device that Rump took the seer's power and knew all this ahead of time. I guess he knew that Storybrooke would plop down on Owen and his dad, too. That was supposed to be what made Regina want to have a baby. But why wait around 18 years to finally satisfy the baby jones? Rump must've had that worked into the curse that Regina would suddenly want the kid at that time. The writers are trying to be clever with back stories to explain things but then some characters really weren't needed at all if you are just going to have Rump with the seer's power and masterminding everything.

That's a hint, isn't it? :o

Yeah. ;P

He's more like a forest-dwelling ninja, though.

We've had frost during the night a couple of times now.

We had some fog a week or so ago early in the morning. The weather peeps were carrying on like it was some new phenomenon. ::facepalm::

Januari is generally the "snow month".

Do you think you'll get that butt-ton of snow that has been predicted this year? I watched a football game over the weekend where they got at least 8 inches on the field during the game. :O

January is usually the month where we get a few days of cooler temps. :)

Whoa! Surely not Miyamoto Musashi?? He was a real guy AFAIK. Maybe Kōzuki Sasuke then? Or the Monkey King, Sun Wukong/Son Goku himself? I bet it's the latter. :)

Do you think you'll get that butt-ton of snow that has been predicted this year?

I hope so. I actually really like snow. I love to walk around in it especially in the evening. It sucks for traffic though and I'm sure the plants don't like all that salt the city sprays on the road.

I have some really good memories about playing in the snow in winter as a kid with other kids. Riding our little sleds, building snowmen, having snowball fights. We never got free from school no matter how much we begged the teachers. But after school we played together - our hands and face half frozen - till we got hungry for a warm dinner.

There are two things most Dutch people hope for during the winter; snow during Christmas time and ice in Januari/Februari so people can compete in the Elfstedentocht. We rarely get either. :/ Oh, well.

Did he really take her power or did she just give him a very complete (but jumbled) picture of the future? Rumple doesn't have eyes on his hands.

That would be really awesome to have Miyamoto Musashi as a character, but I don't think too many peeps are aware of who he is. Of course, *I* know. ;P He was only the greatest Japanese swordsman/samurai/ronin of all time. :)

Unfortunately, it's none of those guys you named.

We rarely get either. :/ Oh, well.

Well, maybe you'll get lucky this season. :)

That's one thing I feel very slighted about being born and raised in Florida and having the parents that I have. I've never experienced the joy of playing in snow. :( The closest I ever got was driving back from visiting my aunt and cousins in the NE and we detoured over to N Carolina to the mountains and there was some melting snow along the side of the road that we stopped to play around in. It was more like melting crushed ice at that point but it was fun.

Did he really take her power

Yeah, I think the writers verified via tweet that he took the seer's powers.

Rumple doesn't have eyes on his hands.

That would be an inconvenient feature to have. :/ ;P

Bingo! Although IIRC, the actor who was playing him at the end of S2 was replaced by another guy. I find neither of those actors physically appealing. However, the second one looks like he has a nice sturdy frame under all those Lincoln Greens. ;P He has a horrible hair-cut, though, and a weird shaped nose like it was broken before. I'm not crazy about his looks. They should put a bag over his head and take the rest off. ;P ;D

Will I have to wait for next season to find out?

I'm halfway through S3 and still waiting for them to hook up. :/

Nope! But I nearly bought an awesome pair of Italian made leather riding boots that looked almost steampunkish in style. They were on clearance for $99 and there were only 2 pairs left in that style. One was a size 6 (my size) and the other was a 6.5 (which was a little roomier). The problem is that I have some thick legs and they make all these boots for peeps with thin pencil legs. I tried on both pairs but could only get them zipped up half-way. My calves are just too meaty. :/

I really didn't *need* a pair of riding boots as it doesn't get cool enough here to wear those. They were just soooooo nice and sexy! Emma or Regina would definitely wear those on OUAT. Oh well, saved myself $99 + tax.

The only thing I managed to get while I was out was some cold germs. I started getting *the feeling* when I finally got home. My eyes and throat feel a bit scratchy and I'm getting the sniffles. Stupid germy assholes who can't cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze!
::shakes fist::

I also nearly had to get out of the car and pound a douchebag in traffic. He just had to hurry up and cut in front of my mother(who is always driving slow in the left lane and leaving a big gap)from a side street, then in turn, he kept fucking around and lagging and would just stop and not try to keep up with the traffic. He was probably texting. So after a few blocks of driving behind this idiot who kept doing that, the light had changed and all the rest of the traffic was going, but this moron kept sitting there so my mother tooted the horn at him to let him know to go, then he does some gesture with his sunglasses and then goes and then slams on his breaks real fast and then did it a second time, obviously trying to get my mother to hit the back of him, because the law here is if you hit the person in front of you then you get charged with the accident. Well, it was obvious to me what he was trying to do so I quickly took off my seat belt so I could get out to confront him and then the pussy took off. I was so mad that I could have done something unwise. I *HATE* shitheads like that. Sometimes I wish that I was a cop because I would have arrested his ass for trying to deliberately cause an accident + give him a ticket for texting while driving.

Hey, are you going to get yourselves a tree as well?

We have a small fake one with white lights + a nativity.

Do you peeps have any decorations?

We used to have some silver mirror balls and stuff but I think that got all thrown out a while ago. A couple of years ago I made some origami balls to hang in our tiny Xmass tree. I don't know where those are now.

Oh my sweet Arekino, I'm sorry that you were worried about me!

Let's play a little game, shall we? The game is 'what happened to Xul for 5 days?'. If you have been paying attention to this blog and think you know me well enough, it should be fairly easy. A prize of your choosing shall be bestowed upon the first person who guesses correctly from 3 scenarios(and you must give a reason why the other 2 scenarios are incorrect ;P):

#1:

QoH has been on a shop til you drop tear. I had been jonesing for some sushi and while we were out, I stopped by a place to get some. I was surprised to see that they had fugu so I decided to try some. A few hours later, I started having breathing problems and then it got really bad and had to go to the emergency room. Stupid chef obviously didn't prepare it right and I almost croaked and was in the hospital until today.

#2:

Was out shopping til we dropped and I managed to get into an altercation with some asshole. Cops were called and it turned into a he said/she said and I was arrested along with the asshole who started it. Long story short, got taken in Friday evening and the arraignment judges only work Mon-Fri daytime hours. Had to wait until this morning to get bonded out.

#3:

AT&T is the WORST company in the USA and my phone and internet were out YET AGAIN for 5 whole days until someone came out to fix it today.

Tuesday, December 17, 2013 12:27:00 PM
Anonymous arekino said...

Okay. So you didn't get shot. That's good. :)

#1 According to Wikipedia: commercially available fugu in supermarkets or restaurants is very safe ... poisoning from these products is very rare.. So this option just seems too unlikely. Also, there has been no mention of any fugu poisonings in the news.

#2 Personally, I think you have to much self-restraint to get into a serious altercation with some random asshole. Even if you did, you'd be too smart to get caught doing it.

#3 Occam's Razor favours this one. It's happened before so it could happen again. 5 Days is a long time to wait for phone repairs though.

I guess... I'm going with #3. Yep, #3 it is. :)

What else happened in those 5 days BTW?

Blogger Xul said...

I guess... I'm going with #3. Yep, #3 it is. :)

Correct! Name your prize. :)

But seriously, I'm shocked I didn't end up in the hospital from blowing a heart gasket over the whole thing, especially yesterday. QoH had to go get a couple tests done and then decided to go shopping afterward. While there, I get a call from a rep wanting to know if anyone was home so they could send a repairman out. That got me really pissed because if it wasn't for QoH and the damn shopping, I could have been home so I could let the repairman in to the yard to access the equipment. But NOOOOOOO!!! So then they scheduled for Tuesday. I was sooooo pissed that I lost my cool a bit with the rep and had some choice words for the company. I really really hope *that* call was monitored for quality. :D

Then, about an hour later, a repairman called me to see if anyone was home. :::facepalm::: This was really pissing me off as no one is on the same page. Effing QoH was taking special delight in my suffering and thought it was funny that I had to wait even longer to get the problem fixed. I think she did the shopping deliberately just so that would happen. Anyway, I could do a whole post on this nonsense but I'm sooo over it ATM.

Now, OUAT! Seriously, that show needs to come with an advisory and a bottle of Paxil or something cuz Lana, J-Mo, Robert, and Emilie de Ravin's acting is just so amazing.

There was a resurrection, a murder/suicide, and the saddest shit that I've ever seen at the end. It was like a series finale instead of just a mid-season cliffhanger and if I think about it too much I'll burst into tears(for realz). Mercifully, they showed a preview for the second half of the season(probably to keep peeps from committing suicide or having angry mobs come and burn down the ABC/Disney studios. But that only made it more of a WTF? as it is just so messed up. Oh, and there's gonna be a new villain as the old "villains" are not villains any more. She's green and her initials are WWW.

Oh, and there *was* a minor sushi incident. I made some myself but used some dodgy salmon. I didn't get sick and boke or anything, but I think it was mostly in my head as the salmon was a few months past it's expiration(it was well smoked and salted, vacuum sealed, and partially frozen and didn't smell or taste bad).

And those germs that I picked up--I felt better the next day. :)

How have you been, Arekino? I missed ya! What have you been up to besides doc, bathroom fixing, etc?

Just so I can look for it in the news in case you go MIA again. :)

And be nosy I suspect. ;)

I bet she doesn't just take peoples' hearts but also their brains and their courage. ;P

You win that bet! ;P

in Iceland they have this food that they leave to rot for a long time and it's supposed to be a delicacy

Yeah, that disgusting "fermented" shark. That stuff would definitely make me boke.

I also made wakame. For some reason, it's different than the kind served at restaurants. One time I asked a sushi chef how they made it and he told me that it comes pre-made in a big bucket. :/

That kind is thin and almost resembles cellophane noodles and is very green. The kind I bought was dried and has to be re-hydrated. Once it re-hydrates, it looks like kelp leaves and smells fishy. After I prepare it with seasonings, it isn't so bad, but I sit there and question my sanity as to why I continue to eat such things.

We've got a small Christmas tree now. Doesn't even look half bad.

Did you buy it or go into the woods and chop one down? Did you put any origami decorations on it? I think that's cool that you know how to do origami thingies. What kinds do you know how to make? I only know how to fold "cootie catchers". When I was in H/S I used to know how to fold "footballs" and shuriken(both good for note passing ;P).

BTW, OUAT won't resume until March 9. :O OMG, the wait could kill me!

I'm on a roll, baby! ;)

Maybe because you like to try out new foods? This afternoon I bought myself some soft goat cheese and a brie that contains summer truffles. I know what goat cheese tastes like but I can't help but wonder about the truffle brie.

Did you buy it or go into the woods and chop one down?

Nah, it's a live one that usually stands in the garden.

What kinds do you know how to make?

Well, ATM probably none. Unless I can find the instructions again. :P

There's a pic of the tree in your email in-box BTW.

OMG, the wait could kill me!

Have you got anything to hold you over till then?

Nah, just that a simple web search with a whole name can produce lots of personal info. Damn google(and no privacy in this country)!

Maybe because you like to try out new foods?

Sure. Lots of furriners compliment me on my adventurousness when it comes to different foods. ;P

the truffle brie

NOM, NOM, NOM, NOM!!! Sooooo yummy! I think you will like it!

BTW, did you know that you are a seriously awesome man? :D

I take it it's in a pot?

I'll have to take a look later. QoH is in a mad tear to go shopping again. Hopefully, it won't take too long this time. :/

Have you got anything to hold you over till then?

I guess I'll be amusing myself by reading OUAT fanfics. I was reading a comments thread and someone mentioned that some of the peeps who write fanfics write the OUAT characters better than the actual writers for the show. So because I'm impatient, I did a search for some and stumbled upon a tumbler where they had links to some good ones. I found a SwanQueen one that was actually good(more of a friendship relationship)and have been reading it since last night. It's very well written and the chapters are long so I'm only up to the sixth of 17 chapters. It's very engrossing.

Hey, do you like Trans Siberian Orchestra by any chance? ;P ;D

Well, it tastes okay. I'm not sure I could taste any truffle in there. But it's nice.

did you know that you are a seriously awesome man? :D

Go on... :)

I take it it's in a pot?

It is now, yes. I'm sure we'll put it back in the garden after Christmas.

more of a friendship relationship

As opposed to what?

do you like Trans Siberian Orchestra by any chance?

Meh. :/

I'm out of OUAT episodes as well. Season 2 has finished. I have no idea when season 3 will start here.

You know, I like this show but one thing that regularly bothers me is how easily characters go from "I want to kill X" to "I want to give my life to save X". It's just so weird.

Ah, that's too bad. Truffles are nummy but expensive. I guess they skimped.

Go on... :)

You are. ;) And those sweaters you bought look very nice on you, like they were made specifically for you. You have nice hands, too. ;D

Hey, no duck lips or weird poses on those selfies? Amateur. (I'm just kidding, of course. ;P)

I might be able to return the favor. I managed to find two long sleaved tops yesterday that fit and looked nice. I can't really call them sweaters as the material is thin. One is a waffle knit and the other is a hooded Roxy thingy.

I haven't forgotten about your prize. I was trying to do it in a clever way but I think think the pic I wanted was on my computer that died. I thought I had emailed that particular pic to someone and searched my different accounts but the one I sent it from didn't save sent mail. Grrr, I think I'll just have to be cleverer. No worries, I won't deny you your prize. ;)

I take it it's in a pot? It is now, yes.

As I saw from the pic. :) Yours looks wider than mine, but about the same size.

more of a friendship relationship As opposed to what?

SwanQueen shippers put them in a lesbian relationship. I should have known better. The story that I was reading ended up going there. Graphically. Oy. I just don't get how peeps think that two straight characters are going to go gay for each other. The dialog parts were well written for the most part...really captured the bickering well which I find amusing. Sigh.

Meh. :/

Not our musical baby, then? ;P

how easily characters go from "I want to kill X" to "I want to give my life to save X"

Without giving too much away, they have to bring in new villains now. The old ones went all self-sacrificial. :O

It's just so weird.

The writers are schizo. They should have fanfic writers come in and take over. ;P ;D

I did try to look casual in one pic. ;P

I just don't get how peeps think that two straight characters are going to go gay for each other.

It's wishful thinking. They do the same thing with Sherlock and Watson. (the writers are clever enough to make fun of that in the show though)

Not our musical baby, then? ;P

I would hope that our musical love child ends up prettier than that and slightly more classy. ;P

I might be able to return the favor.

I'll be waiting in anticipation. ;)

You almost got me busted just now! I was sitting here smirking at your comments when QoH burst through my door with some drama of her own making. I had to do a "Bill Clinton" and go from smirk to serious-face in a nanosecond. She cut up the back of her leg while shaving--it looked like she used a machete--and I had to come immediately to get her patched up to go to the doc. ::rolls eyes:: Well, it took about 15 minutes of trying everything from the styptic pencil to liquid skin and she just kept leaking from many spots. I finally had to put 4 giant bandages on her.

*
Well, I *tried* to finish this comment around 3pm, but QoH just wouldn't stop bothering me and then I had to take her to the doc appt.

Anyway, I could do a whole post on her idiocy when shaving but I'll spare ya that. ;P

There was much drama at Publix after doc appointment that was QoH's creation and I'll spare you that as well. I just wish I had a magic mirror to push her through so that *I* could be spared all her manufactured drama! ;P ;D

Okay, back to my replies!

From your pics, I detected absolutely *no* middle age spread(or else you were sucking it in ;P). You make those sweaters look good. ;D

(the writers are clever enough to make fun of that in the show though)

OUAT S3 had some of that as well.

I would hope that our musical love child ends up prettier than that and slightly more classy. ;P

Ouch! You wound me! Apocalyptica then? ;)

I'll be waiting in anticipation. ;)

I'll try not to make you wait too long. QoH is always lurking, though. :(

Ah well, season finale of Les Revenants (The Returned) is tonight. It was much creepier after I got to watch the marathon--lots of things I missed the first time around.

Have you watched anything good lately?

Phew! :P

I don't think there is much of that. Maybe I should do a sideways pic?

Ouch! You wound me!

Sorry.

Apocalyptica then?

In general, I'm not fond of the combination of pop music and classical instruments like the cello or the violin. It just sounds a bit pretentious. I'd never before heard of either of the bands you mentioned BTW.

Have you watched anything good lately?

Besides OUAT? Not really. I'm hoping the next Sherlock season will be good (but that's only 3 episodes dammit). I haven't really seen any good movies either. And you?

Will there be booty? I have pirate hands, ya know. ;P

Sorry.

Don't be sorry, it was only mock distress/outrage. ;)

Pffft! As if *I'd* listen to pop. ;P

I'd never before heard of either of the bands you mentioned BTW.

Well, then...don't knock it 'til ya tried it! TSO is more classical played in a metal genre and Apocalyptica is metal played with cellos. Good stuff, IMO.

BTW, did I ever tell ya about the time I was at a cocktail party and the string quartet that was hired to do the music started getting smart-assy and throwing some Metallica into the mix? I think I was the only one who noticed that it was Metallica and I went and made a comment to them and they all started wicked-grinning. Me, too. Kinda like an inside joke. ;D

And you?

Season finale of Les Revenants was a bit of a let-down. Of course, I got impatient and looked at the wiki to see a summary of what happened. Although, that didn't really ruin it for me. I know there is supposed to be a second season in the making. Hopefully we'll see what happened to those who went with the dead.

There really hasn't been much on. The programs that I watch are all on break and there haven't been any good movies on besides Sundance Channel doing the Alien/Aliens series of movies. One of my fondest memories is of going to see Aliens with my sister and Ripley in the robotic suit telling the alien to 'Get away from her, you bitch!' IIRC, everyone in the theatre cheered. LOL

I figured that but their music still doesn't have the sincerity, gravitas and sophistication of say, Metallica.

Arekino! You should be glad you are safe on the other side of the Atlantic! ;) ::Xul types while listening to TSO in the background::

BTW, the TSO album I'm listening to (The Lost Christmas Eve) has some Liszt and Pachelbel variations. ;D

Likely what I'm always doing--a whole lotta nothin'. :/

A turkey is going to be cooked. Oh! And I have a little something for the day after Boxing Day, so that is an unexpected gift of sorts. :)

Yeah, that's sorta traditional in your neck of the woods. We have had turkey in one form of another in previous years, usually some kind of roasted turkey ham thingy. This year it's going to be chicken and potatoes and veggies. At least, when we have guests, which will be on the 26th, I think. We'll probably just make it easy for ourselves on the 25th and not cook anything special.

And I have a little something for the day after Boxing Day

That's the 27th, I guess? Will you provide Santa's elves with a post-Xmas victory dinner? ;)

QoH is getting ridiculous in her dotage. She has **3** of the things in the freezer(because sale!)so they have to be cooked *some* time. We just had one at Thanksgiving and then a ham right after that now another damn turkey. I'd like to have a goose but QoH doesn't like goose--it's all icky with dark meat and fat. ::rolls eyes::

Is that related to a Turducken? ;P

Who needs all the fuss and drama? ;)

Correct! Boxing Day is a non event in the Good Ol' but the rest of the Anglosphere is into it. ;)

Will you provide Santa's elves with a post-Xmas victory dinner? ;)

Nah, these guys are on Team Maccabees. ;D

BTW, "gift" in your inbox. ;P And my computer and/or internet was being wonky so it got sent twice. :/

It's more like a boneless turkey with a passion for bondage. ;P

I don't think I've ever eaten duck or goose. Or any wild bird. Maybe next time I got to a restaurant. I always pick at least one thing I've never eaten before.

Who needs all the fuss and drama? ;)

Exactly :)

And my computer and/or internet was being wonky so it got sent twice. :/

I actually went to read my mail before I came here and I was wondering about that. I have to say, you have good taste in clothes. :)

One of the most delicious things ever is Peking duck if it's done right. The secret is to take an air compressor with a small hose and separate the skin from the meat, but still leaving it on the bird. Then put many perforations into the skin so that all the fat can run out of the skin while it cooks and it gets very crispy. Both duck and goose are very fatty like that. Delicious nonetheless. ;)

Did you know that a peacock is basically a fancy turkey? I have a facebook friend who was having some trouble with a neighbor's peacock a while back and I told her of the familial relation. She seemed rather horrified at the suggestion. I can't imagine why. ;D

If you ever get a chance to try any of those birds, it should prove to be a fabulous meal rather than a foul one. ;P

I have to say, you have good taste in clothes. :)

Thanks! The horrid weather here doesn't permit me to dress as elegantly or stylishly as I'd like.

BTW, what is the prognostication weather wise for Christmas? White or wet?

Yeah, I saw what you did there. :)

White or wet?

Why not both? :D We have this phenomenon that we call wet snow. It's snow that fall from great height where it's cold to the ground where the temperature is still above zero. So it basically starts melting before it's all the way down.

It looks like the temperature during Christmas will be slightly above zero plus the weather service expects some precipitation, I'm guessing rain.

Wait, are you serving an entire sports team dinner?

You make it very difficult for me to be good and not say naughty things.

Damn near every year here it's hot and rainy. I think the front moving through is bringing a slight dip in the temperature along with the rain, so that'll be nice. :)

Wait, are you serving an entire sports team dinner?

Sigh, I guess you didn't get my joke. :/ I was referring to them being Jews. Hanukkah vs Christmas. :) They're Canadian also and they have enough people for a hockey game. ;P
