My Evil Regal Life

Uggghhhh errrghhh....

Seriously, some days I think I'm cursed for real.  I am angry and dissatisfied.  It's bad enough that I keep having chronic phone and computer problems that always seem to happen on a Friday so nothing can be fixed until at least Tuesday because QoH has her damn appointments on Monday, but I also have to be cursed with a lawn mower that has issues.

I had to take the mower out to do the lawn today. I put some gas in, started it up, and it ran for about a minute before it cut out.  For fuck's sake.  Here we go again!  So I figured that the gas might have been stale.  So I drained it out and put some gas from another can in.  It started up but sounded sluggish.  It cut out but I managed to get it started again and mowed for a bit until I hit something in the grass and then the thing cut out again for good.  Ugh.  I then tried taking it apart the way I always do to get at any shmoots and then reassembled. Still wouldn't run.  It would just crank up and then cut out.  Of course by this time, QoH had to come out to start interrogating me about it.  I told her I needed to go get some fresh gas and see if that helps.  Of course she can't just let me go by myself to get the gas.  She insists that she'll go with me.  Then she takes a half hour to get dressed to go.  Fuck, fuck, fuckety-fuck.  It gets dark at like 5:30pm.  Could you hurry the hell up?

All the time spent waiting around for her I could have gone and came back by then.  But she can't just get dressed and go.  Noooooo!!!  She has to have her fucking ice chest with orange juice packed to go.  To the fucking gas station.  That is like two blocks away.  Aaaaarrrrrgh!!!!!

I bet you can guess what happened next!  That's right!  The fresh gas didn't help.  Damn mower still wouldn't run.
At that point I felt so defeated that I just wanted to cry.  But an Evil Regal can never let 'em see ya cry.  And if our original plans get thwarted we just think of a different way to get what we want.  So I called up my neighbor across the street to see if he would let me borrow his mower.  He did indeed let me borrow it so I at least got the yard mowed.

One thing--my nabe's mower was a cheap little Weedeater brand that someone *gave* to him(Why can't anyone give me stuff?)but it was much lighter than mine.  I was practically jogging around the yard with it.  Not like mine at all.  Mine is like pushing around a dead body.  Anyway, I didn't bother edging or blowing as I was too tired and exasperated after everything that happened earlier.

And another thing--last night after QoH went to bed I went to go fiddle with the phone box out back to rig it so my computer would work.  Well, after fiddling with it a bit, I managed to get everything working in the house again.  I was so happy that I was on the computer for like 2,5 hours.  However, when I got up this morning, nothing was working yet again.  :(   I'm pretty sure there's something wrong in that box.  The one line that the critters chewed goes to one set of phones.  The other line is separate and should not be affected, but the whole shebang is out.  I'm hoping they'll replace the chewed line as well as the box.

And just to add insult to injury, after I had showered and retired to my room to rest, QoH has to come and demand that I grill salmon.  Are you shitting me?  After all the bullshit and getting the yard done in double time so I could get the mower back to the neighbor before he left for church you want me to grill salmon?  Oy gevult. So I grilled the damn salmon.  After that I just felt like hurling from the salmon smell and all the smoke(no vent over the stove so the whole house now stinks).  I'm just so, so tired of all the bullshit and QoH and her nonsense.  I just want my happy ending.

Are you afraid of the dark? Do the aliens mostly comes out at night? ...Mostly? ;P

Nice of him.

So I grilled the damn salmon.

I love salmon. It's expensive but very tasty.

I just want my happy ending.

Well, you can always take the matter into your own hands. :)

Sounds like you had a bit of a rough weekend there.

Blogger ate your comment? Blogger can be a little bitch sometimes. ;P

Are you afraid of the dark

Certainly not. It's just that I can't see what the hell I'm doing.

I love salmon. It's expensive but very tasty.

I like it, it's just that I was too upset to eat. I made it teriyaki style. Bought some more at Sam's tonight--it went up $1. :(

you can always take the matter into your own hands.

I usually do. ;P

I give myself some pretty good happy endings. ;P

Sounds like you had a bit of a rough weekend there.

Rough beginning to this one, too. QoH's appt was cancelled today, then she wanted to go to Sam's. Then the remote for the truck wouldn't work and needed a battery. Went 3 different places to find the right size. The first 2 were sold out and the third place was nearly $3 more than the cheapest place. :/

Anyway, I finally got to speak to a customer service rep for AT&T today. Repair person is supposed to be out Tuesday. Crossing my fingers on that.

Hey, today there was an owl perched atop out recycle bin outside for at least 3 hours having a nap. I got a pic. Beautiful little thing. Owls were always my favorite animal--I had stuffed animal ones as a kid and some porcelains as well. Owls are supposed to be good luck. I sure need some.

Hmm, looks like the cops finally left from across the street. I had to come outside to used the computer and there were 5 cop cars with the lights flashing. I have no idea what happened. Never a dull moment around here. /sarc :/

You know what they say: practice makes perfect. ;P

A remote controlled truck? Sounds fun. :P

I got a pic.

Care to show it? :)

Never a dull moment around here.

So does that happen a lot?

I bet you can guess what happened today! No repairman showed up. No one bothered to call my cell either. I am beyond pissed. I called the number for repairs and you can never speak to a live person directly, you have to go through the whole automated spiel. So I reported the problem *yet again* and then called back a while later. It seems that when you call back the automated system transfers you to a customer service rep. Just judging from the way the conversation went when I called yesterday, it seemed like the rep was local. Today when I called, and it being after 5pm, it seemed like the customer service person was out of state. It's all thoroughly annoying. And what got me especially annoyed is the script that these peeps have to go by--the whole 'Thank you for choosing AT&T' crap. First of all, I didn't "choose" AT&T--they are the only game in town if you want a land line. And before it was Southern Bell which changed its name to Bell South which got bought out by AT&T. No choice in the matter with that, either, but at least the service was better with Bell South.

Today, this customer service rep apologized and promised that the repair would be done by 6pm Wednesday. It's really pointless to get upset with the rep even as pissed off as I was. It's just better to quietly seethe and be diplomatic. (I'm known for being like a lawyer or politician in that regard.) They can't do anything about the situation. It's the fucking way corporate dictates that things are done. They don't want to spend money repairing or upgrading their aging system. Also incompetence at the lower levels. Who knows if the person I talked to yesterday entered the information correctly or if the repair person just didn't get around to my repair. Sigh. It's just so frustrating and infuriating.

A remote controlled truck? Sounds fun. :P

The keyless entry thingy that got hooked up with the Lojack. It's kinda screwy. It has a killswitch to the ignition. If you don't start the car up soon enough the security system will arm itself and then the car won't start until you push the button on the remote again. It's a real pain in the ass. At least mine doesn't have the killswitch. If my keyless entry remote battery stops working I can just open the car with the key.

Care to show it? :)

I will as soon as the phone and internet get fixed. I'm not sure what kind of owl it was. It was unusual looking.

So does that happen a lot?

Let's just say it isn't that unusual of an occurrence.

Anyway, last night when I went outside to rig up the internet, I made sure to open a multitude of tabs with various things for me to read throughout the day today to keep me from having internet withdrawal symptoms too badly. ;P I found a fairly long fanfic (over 70,000 words) that was actually written pretty well. I had to laugh at the way the author had Regina's habits and mannerisms written. Was it Regina or Xul that they were writing about? Did this person know me? LOL

I must say, it was very well written. The author seemed to be a mature person just from the way it was written. It had the feel of experience about it and the characters were written realistically. Also, s/he wrote Emma as a smart but rough around the edges woman instead of the usual way fanfic peeps write her--like a crude, not-too-bright, overgrown kid. This writer in particular made the story realistic. This person could easily write for the show and make it a hell of a lot better IMO.

I bet you can guess what I have been doing in lieu of OUAT being on the TV? LOL I'm actually quite surprised by the well written fanfics that I've read. I assume a lot of these peeps are students--whether high school age or college--and they do it as an exercise for their creative writing classes. Many of them aren't even native English speakers. As a grammar nazi and cynic, I *might* have a *little* hope for future generations. ;P

BTW, what have you been up to my dear Arekino? Any exciting weather developments on your side? We are supposed to have a dramatic cool down here which will last for perhaps a week. I can already feel the temperature dropping as I sit outside here. :)

What is that all about anyway? The USA is supposed to be the country of freedom and capitalism and rampant financial adventure. What's with the damn IT monopoly?

like a crude, not-too-bright, overgrown kid.

What the heck? Why would anyone right her character that way? That's just weird.

what have you been up to my dear Arekino?

Not that much. I've still not finished the Starcraft game. I am however putting myself on a timer so that I do not play any longer than an hour. Just to fight the game addict in me. :P

I've gone back to studying haskell and of course I continue to study the electronics thing.

I've heard from my sister that my youngest nephew may have to move to a different school, one that is more suited to his special needs. He can't unfortunately take anymore ritalin. It worked very well for him but his bladder seems to respond badly to the meds. I think he just needs better teachers.

Any exciting weather developments on your side?

I wish. It's a bit colder today but it's expected to warmer again by the weekend.

I can already feel the temperature dropping as I sit outside here. :)

Wow, you may actually have to wear a jacket or maybe an extra T-shirt? ;P

Internet an phone is fixed! Last night I rigged the box outside and then what I did made it work on the inside. Some wrong number called very early and scared QoH out of bed. LOL Then the repair dude called around 9:30am. Somehow my cell got turned off and I had to call the guy back(I was dead asleep). He came back to the house and replaced the chewed wire and switched the guts out of the box. Everything is working fine...for now. ;P

The USA is supposed to be the country of freedom and capitalism

It's actually a Fascist country wearing the mask of capitalism. I'm a poli-sci student--I know the difference. Haven't seen a true free market here since the pioneer days. :/

What's with the damn IT monopoly?

One word: lobbyists. The big companies pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to grease the palms of the best crooked politicians that money can buy ;P and most of the bastards have investments in said companies. It's all very incestuous. Most of the citizenry is too involved with bread and circuses of their own lives and personal drama to care about all this bullshit. :/

What the heck? Why would anyone right her character that way?

IDK, it seems like a lot of them copy each other or read each others' Tumblr pages. A lot of the authors seem to be H/S kids so maybe they are just writing from their own inexperience. ;P

Just to fight the game addict in me. :P

I've been trying to limit myself to an hour at a time on the internet. Maybe we need to join Media Over-users Anonymous? ;P

I think he just needs better teachers.

^This.

it's expected to warmer again by the weekend.

:(

Wow, you may actually have to wear a jacket or maybe an extra T-shirt? ;P

I was wearing sweat pants and a sweat shirt/hoodie(mainly to keep the mosquitoes from biting me)and I could feel the dampness and temp getting worse. It was mainly the dampness. It wasn't really "cold". All that is supposed to happen tonight or tomorrow. I can hardly wait! Then I can wear all my new long-sleeved shirts! ;P ;D

And Obama is literally Hitler? Surely, you are joking.

What power do politicians have in this matter? How are they stopping competition?

BTW I heard T-mobile is trying to get into the American market.

Then I can wear all my new long-sleeved shirts!

Those do look nice on you. Would be a shame if you couldn't wear them.

Why do you automatically make the jump that Fascism = Obama is Hitler? Just look up the definition of fascism. There is a progression to it. Industrialized countries trend toward fascism whereas underdeveloped countries trend toward communism. If you want to get down to brass tacks, the last 4 presidents of this country were cunts(current one included)and all did their part to undermine the Constitution. Plus there are 100 Senators and 400+ congress critters just at the national level. Each state has its own Senate and State House full of politicians. Then there are more at the local level. This country is infested with politicians. ;P

I could go on a real rant here but I am too tired from washing cars. ;P

What power do politicians have in this matter?

They make the laws that favor their corporate sugar daddies.

How are they stopping competition?

They make laws and regulations too costly for the smaller companies. If you can't pay for the myriad of licenses, fees, etc to stay in business...you go out of business. Then there are always the special exemptions that the big companies seem to get.

BTW I heard T-mobile is trying to get into the American market.

They've been in the wireless market here for a very long time. I've done business with them for over 10 years. :)

Would be a shame if you couldn't wear them.

This morning when the repair dude was here, it was humid and a bit warm. By this afternoon, it had cooled down drastically. I had to run an errand so I wore my new Bordeaux-colored Henley. :)
