Hit

Ya know, those misogynist/chavanist assholes over at that blog that shall not be named still have me a bit worked up.  I remember watching a show a long time ago called Sports Science which featured a female professional boxer who hit just as hard as a man of her same weight.  I couldn't recall her name, but I remembered that she played the character "The Blue Bear" in the film Million Dollar Baby.  So a little web-searchy revealed that her name is Lucia Rijker, "The Dutch Destroyer".  Heh.  What's with all these feisty Dutch peeps?  I had no idea she was of Dutch/Surinamer descent.  I just knew that she was probably the best female boxer that I had ever seen.

So there ya go douche-canoes.  Anyone of you care to step in the ring with her?

And speaking of Sports Science and feisty Dutch fighters, here's a clip of Bas Rutten breaking a spleen with one punch.

For a while now, I have been thinking about how cool it would be to be able to train with an anatomically correct dummy.  I have been thinking about how I could make one for myself.  It would be cool to have a few of different heights and weights.  These dummies would be poseable and you could hang them like a regular punching bag and perhaps tether them to the ground so they wouldn't swing around when you hit them.  Then it occurred to me that there *is* something very similar to what I want, only it is intended for *very different* purposes.  ;P

Is that a pun or a spelling error? :)

Nah, they're just the exceptions to the rule.

Well, he did that to a dummy.

What do you think is cool about that?

Those things kinda creep me out.

I think Mythbusters often show how they make their dummies.

LOL Spelling error. My keyboard is wonky sometimes. Although I'm sure some of them *are* chavs! ;P

Nah, they're just the exceptions to the rule.

It's not so terrible being feisty. ;D

Well, he did that to a dummy.

I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of any of his punches.

You can train to strike different places on the human body. I'd like to have one with see-through skin and all the bones and internal organs so you can see just where your strikes are landing and what damage is being done. When I was learning MA, we were all about anatomy and body mechanics. Having a life-like dummy to train on would be better than just hitting a bag.

Those things kinda creep me out.

The first time I ever saw those things was on the Howard Stern show a looooong time ago.

Hey, I had some dreams with you in them last night. ;D ;P

Some peeps can't throw a punch to save their lives. It's fun to spar with them while wearing padding. ;P

Nah, I wouldn't put any fake blood filled spleens or anything like that. I'd just use solid silicone for the internal organs and nylon for the bones. As cool as the Sports Science/Mythbusters style dummies are, that would be a pain in the ass to deal with. A good training dummy would have to be durable.

Was I made of soft silicone? ;P

No silicone as far as I could tell. ;P

We were at one of those free movie night in the park thingies where you bring a blanket or lawn chairs and food and drinks if you want and enjoy the movie. It seemed to be in your neck of the woods, though. And instead of there being one big movie screen, there were numerous small televisions placed around the area of the park where this was occurring. You and I were sitting on our blanket watching the TV that was just to the right of where we were sitting and I was playing around with the remote just before the movie was about to start. I flipped it to one channel down and then when I tried to flip it back the stupid remote wouldn't work. A dude who was sitting near us to the right started saying something to me and I got a bit annoyed and tossed him the remote and told him, "here, knock yourself out."

I think there was another dream or maybe just the same one where there was a dude who kept saying stuff to me as I was trying to enjoy your company. I thought it was very rude and disrespectful to you. I think I *might* have licked your ear at one point. I have no idea where that came from. ;D

BTW, the thing with the remote is a no brainer--I've been having trouble with the remote to my TV/satellite box not working properly. It's very frustrating. Pretty obvious that *that* was stuck in my subconscious. ;P

Thank goodness. I was beginning to think it had something to do with having "remote control" over guys. :P

BTW after watching tonight's episodes, my guess as to how long Rumple has had his powers is about 20 to 30 years.

The other guy in the dream was annoying me very badly. He was one of these douchy types who thinks that he is the cat's meow and trying to chat me up while I was hanging out with you. I think I gave you the ol' ear lick as a deterrent, like saying I'm not interested in a douchy interloper, I'm trying to spend time with this here Arekino. Of course, you were quite shocked and had a reaction like O.o It was pretty funny. ;D

having "remote control" over guys. :P

Nah, QoH is the only control freak like that around here.

Rumple has had his powers is about 20 to 30 years.

I have been thinking about that and revising my numbers. Have you seen the episode "The Miller's Daughter" yet? I'm not sure how long he had his powers prior to Regina being alive, but going by 28 years in Storybrook + 3 since it's now the third season + at least 10 years that Regina was Snow's stepmother + Regina had to be maybe 18 years old when she married the king + 9 months to 1 year that Snow was pregnant with Emma, gave birth, and put her in the magic tree = Regina has to be at least 60 years old as of present day. Rumple had his powers at least a few years prior to Regina's birth. From what was said a couple episodes ago, maybe tack on another 40 years. So he has had his powers for maybe 100 years maximum.

IDK, they way they jump around is crazy-making. :/

Tonight QoH wanted to make cannolis, and by that she means that *I* will be made to make the cannolis. Grrr...what a pain in the ass to make those from scratch! Not something that I would choose to make to begin with. The shells turned out okay but the filling was just meh. I followed the recipe exactly so it was nothing to do with my baking skills. It was a crappy recipe methinks. QoH had nothing but complaints. I'll never do it again. If she wants those things again she can make them herself. >:(

In reality, I think I'd just be surprised (perhaps pleasantly so). ;)

So he has had his powers for maybe 100 years maximum.

That seems a bit long. He got his powers after he lost his son, right (or his son was still very young)? And his son isn't that old now, I think. Maybe his son had a time machine?

It was a crappy recipe methinks.

Do you have a Big Book Of Magical Recipes or did you just google it? :)

I just had lunch with my sister and her youngest son. They've put the kid on Ritalin. The effect is rather interesting. He always had a lot of energy but that energy seems to be much more focused now. It kinda makes me wish I had a little pill to upgrade my brain.

At this point, I think they're just making up stories as they're going along. The timelines seem all screwed up to me. From what was said a couple episodes ago, one character was alleged to be in a certain place for 100 years so I'm basing my times off of that. Of course, that begs the question 'Where has Bae been for all that time to have not aged?' He must have been in another land beside NL where peeps don't age.

I used Regina to base everyone's ages because we at least can guess at her age from when she married the king and we know how long she has been in Storybrooke and all the other stuff.

Do you have a Big Book Of Magical Recipes or did you just google it? :)

QoH has a Repository of Ancient Recipes and this was one of the recipes. It was a clipping from a magazine that was a year older than me. She claims that she made them before and they turned out fabulously(a shot across my bow, methinks). I can't recall her ever making them. Maybe before I was born. If she used the same recipe, then they had to have turned out the same way. She always thinks very highly of herself. She really can't complain about my baking skillz--I've become quite skilled in the art. I made pizza the night before and she said it was my best ever. My gingerbreads are excellent. The whipped cream that I had to make from scratch was excellent. Maybe she should buy some better ingredients or stop wasting my time and buy cannolis from the Italian bakery, then she can bitch about how terrible *their* cannolis are. >:(

They've put the kid on Ritalin.

Why? Is he ADD/ADHD? I think that's just something to give to energetic boys to make them behave more like girls.

It kinda makes me wish I had a little pill to upgrade my brain.

What, like LSD? ;P

There's always ginko and ginseng and B vitamins which are good for you old peeps. ;P ;D Maybe some beta glucans?

Apparently. He's always had trouble paying attention in school. That led to him having to do this year over.

to make them behave more like girls.

If by that you mean "more focused on the tasks at hand" then I guess that's true. :) He's still very much a 10 year old boy though. And he's smart, he's already doing much better in school, I hear. He only takes one pill in the morning that lasts about 4 hours. The effect is very... obvious. He's always had a lot of energy, it's just that it was mostly very undirected.

What, like LSD? ;P

I'm considering drinking coffee again. Maybe just 1 cup per day.

I've bought some multivitamin tablets. They should help me not getting sick during the winter.

"more focused on the tasks at hand" then I guess that's true

I meant like less bouncing off the walls, energy, etc. My antennas tend to go up when I hear about kids being prescribed meds. Over here, there is a tendency to pass them out like candy because teachers don't want to have to deal with energetic boys and also this is such a fascist country(it used to be the "military/industrial complex that got everyone's dander up, it *should* be the pharmaceutical complex that gets peeps upset). Seriously, they have fucking commercials over here for every type of prescription drug under the Sun--"Ask you doctor if drug xyz is right for you!" It just really pisses me off, the pharma/drug "culture" over here. Did you know that like 80% of peeps over here on on some kind of prescription pill? It's really messed up. All docs know how to do is write out scripts for damn pills. (I get really fired up because in a previous job the pharma reps used to bribe docs with dinners and theater tickets in exchange for them writing out scripts to patients for their damn pills.

Anyhoo...if there really is something wrong with your nephew and the pills are helping him, then I don't have a problem with it. I just don't like to see kids given pills to make them compliant zombies.

I'm considering drinking coffee again. Maybe just 1 cup per day.

Try some green tea. It still has some caffeine but you don't have to use sweetener or milk/cream. And it has some nice health benefits, too. :)

I've bought some multivitamin tablets. They should help me not getting sick during the winter.

Yay!!! :) Hey, have you ever had the doc check your vitamin levels, especially vitamin D ? Cuz I think you might not be getting enough sunlight due to the weather and especially during winter. Vitamin D is essential for overall health, not just bonezezzz. ;P

:::steps off soap box:::

Hey, I tweaked the cannoli filling a bit, it didn't have nearly enough of the candied citrus peel IMO. I added a bunch more and now it tastes pretty good. :)

That's basically my attitude to it as well. There are a few little things about it that worry me though. The kid does get a rather intense look in his eyes and he also seems to have developed some rather Rumplestilsken-ish mannerisms. Maybe they haven't got the dosage quite right.

I think you might not be getting enough sunlight due to the weather and especially during winter.

I've been getting out more since the weather became dryer and colder. I bet there aren't a lot of vitamin D deficient people over there in Florida, hm? :)

Ironically, I could be one of them. My working career was mainly indoors and in the evening. I'd get home late and then sleep in late. Now, I *really* stay in a lot. And the weather has been very rainy lately. :/

It's not something one really ever gets used to, right?

No. There are just degrees of awfulness. This time around it's more awful. :(

How do you feel about menopause BTW?

Having no more periods is definitely something to look forward to. It's just that you get another set of issues in return. :/

It's just that you get another set of issues in return. :/

So what's your opinion regarding those issues?

What are the parental units up to this time?

They went to a wedding party of friends of theirs.

::::::HUUUUUUG:::::: :)

I could do that all day. :) (It'd *really* piss off QoH, too! ;P )

So what's your opinion regarding those issues?

I certainly don't want any hot flashes. It's bad enough that I sweat like crazy when it's hot. Or the other weird hormonal issues. I think I'll just have to eat well, supplement, and exercise so I can try to avoid all that as best as I can.

Hey, will you be watching the 50th anniversary Doctor Who episode?

I suppose. BBC America has been doing a Doctor Who marathon all day. I have my timer set to flip over when the Catherine Tate episodes come on, then there's supposed to be a new one right after that, so maybe that is what you are referring to?

In other news, I have *a thing* for Thanksgiving so our turkey was cooked a couple days ago. It turned out pretty good. :)

Had to go out for a few things last night. It was *almost* total torture as my uterus felt like it was trying to escape from my body. The only thing that didn't make it *total* torture was QoH stayed in the car while I went in to the stores. :)

If it was up to me and I didn't have QoH here, I wouldn't even bother with making any Thanksgiving food. I'm not a huge turkey fan to begin with. I'd rather have ham. And the traditional side dishes make me feel ill just thinking about them. I think it's mainly psychological as the holidays were always an ordeal created by QoH. She always had to make an elaborate meal to impress everyone and at the same time resented that she had to do all the work. O.o Oy vey!

If I ever get the opportunity to live my own life, I think I'll be doing holiday meals at a sushi joint or maybe a Chinese place like in A Christmas Story(I actually had Christmas dinner at a Chinese restaurant one time ;P).

Nah, just the regular menu. I'm not sure if they knew it was Christmas Day and why they had no customers? Maybe they did and were just happy to have at least a few peeps in. Anyway, it wasn't very good. I'm glad I wasn't the one who paid. ;P

Nee. Not my favorite holiday. It is always associated with lots of uncalled for drama.

They are still running the Doctor Who marathon on the Beeb. Mostly the 11th Doctor ones.

In other news, I just finished putting color on my hair. My 'do looks like a sumo's since that's the way I had to pin it up so I don't get dye on everything. ;P

Yeah, me too. But 11th isn't bad. They played a bunch of eps with River Song, too. I liked her character. She was a trip!

How much are you missing OUAT ATM BTW? ;)

Not that much as it is only one weekend without it. It really used to blow when they'd go almost a month in between. I think they learned their lesson from that, though, as peeps would forget when it was back on and it would screw with the ratings. And this time around it was because of a music awards show, so that was the network's doing.

you lean towards libertarianism, right?

Correct! :)

What do you think of Bitcoin?

Since I watch Max Keiser, I just so happen to be familiar with that! ;P

I wish I had known enough about it to have put some moneyzzz in at the beginning! One bitcoin is now worth several hundred dollars. :O

IDK, it seems an interesting concept. It's certainly not any worse that the current fiat currency that we have now. I still prefer the gold standard as at least there is some basis for value. Both Bitcoin and what we have now doesn't seem that much different to me. What's to keep it too from being manipulated? Other than that, the ease of something being universally accepted is certainly a positive. I haven't really given the subject much thought, though.

Why do you ask?

Well, it's tangible stuff at least. The past few years I have used almost no cash, only virtual money (not Bitcoins, just euros). It's handy and quick.

Why do you ask?

Oh, I just read about it. The whole thing seems interesting to me as well, although not a bit overly complex what with all the crypto stuff. I wondered what you thought about it. :)

So, if I'm not mistaken this Thursday is Thanksgivings Day and the Friday immediately after is Black Friday? Will you be doing some shopping? Spend your hard earned money?

The Max Keisers of the world seem to think it is the future of currency. Maybe. I still like to have something tangible. Digitized doodads and woozie-whatsits seem a lot easier to manipulate or "steal". I guess I'm still a bit old school. ;D

So, if I'm not mistaken this Thursday is Thanksgivings Day and the Friday immediately after is Black Friday?

That is correct.

Will you be doing some shopping? Spend your hard earned money?

Heeeeellllllll no! You won't catch me in any of that madness. However, QoH doesn't need *ANY* special day to piss money away, even when she doesn't have it to piss away. :/ She has already bought a few things for "Christmas". I really couldn't give a rats ass about the holidays. I don't have anyone *here* special to me or a job for that matter. I haven't given a crap about the holidays for a long time. QoH makes me hate everything about it. She already has me good and pissed off as I'm sitting here typing this. She just *had* to go buy another fucking turkey as they were on sale for 59 cent/pound + a bunch of other stuff.(And futz around in the store for 1.5 hours so that it was nice and defrosted by the time we got home.) Now we have 3 of the bastards plus the one that was cooked last week. By the time anyone gets around to cooking them, they'll have the major freezer taste and won't be worth a damn, but don't let that get in the way of a good deal!

BTW, that shit really pisses me off. More money is wasted on "good deals" because she has to buy them and then the shit sits around and goes bad because she buys too much. If she ever croaks and I get to be on my own, I *SWEAR* I am going to be minimalist in just about everything that I do. I am *SO* tired of throwing away hard earned money like that. Aaaaaarrrgh!!!!

Compared to QoH, anything normal would look minimalist.

Wasting stuff is another matter. I don't like to throw things out that can still be useful (although I'm not a hoarder :).

QoH *is* a hoarder. The problem comes from not wanting to get rid of "good stuff". For as long as I can remember, she has always said she was going to take stuff to the flea market to sell, but the only time that ever happened was once when I was very young. Now there's a 40 year accumulation. Living in it makes me mental. And she's getting worse as she gets older--saving mayo containers and milk/juice jugs. I got into an argument about the jugs and threw them away. Paternal unit is almost as bad. He accumulates actual crappy stuff, and also with the saving of damn containers. What the hell is with these people? I know it's part of OCD. It sucks to live with it.

I do like the Christmas atmosphere.

I'd probably like it better if I had a normal or halfway normal family.

But I do want snow this year dammit! ;P

I would like some, too! ;D

It is *still* way too hot outside. The way the weather peeps have been carrying on, you'd think there was going to be a blizzard. Allegedly, it's supposed to go into the high 50's tonight, but maybe be in the high 70's tomorrow just like today. So retarded. I'll take it though.

I see that your temps are much better except for the pesky rain. :)

ROTFLMAO!!!! OMG, at least you gave me a good laugh

I see... Well, happy to oblige. :)

you should have never mentioned a certain pic of you with Blackadder face fur.

I vaguely remember mentioning that. Have you been going over some old comments? You must be really bored. :/

It is *still* way too hot outside.

Ah, the problems some people have. :P

I see that your temps are much better except for the pesky rain. :)

There's hardly any rain actually. I've been taking lots of walks. It's really very nice outside as long as you keep active.

Re: OUAT, it is interesting to see Cora's background story. I wonder how this episode will end? Let's see... :)

PS: ...Well, that was tragic. Now Regina is pissed off again.

No, I just have a very good memory. :)

A little bit. That's what you get when you have me as a friend...I come up with all sorts of things to tease and playfully harass with. ;P

There's hardly any rain actually.

Ah, so you have lying weather peeps, too?

I've been taking lots of walks. It's really very nice outside as long as you keep active.

Must be nice! :)

Cora's background story

She's a lot like my maternal unit. :/

Well, that was tragic. Now Regina is pissed off again.

Regina has many things to be pissed off about. At least in season 3, so far, she has had Emma to somewhat mentor and she has been a bit introspective and not a full-on hell bitch. The rest of the season should be interesting(I hope).

Oh, hey! Did you hear that Ginny G is pregnant? Sure didn't take her and Josh D long! ;P That's kinda funny that they play a couple on TV and are now one in real life. I wonder how they're gonna work her being pregnant into the story. Hmmm...

And I also wonder when Lana and her BF are gonna get married. I know that they are engaged. Maybe Regina and future-love-interest-that-I-cannot-name-or-there-will-be-spoilers will be having a little Evil Regal of there own? ;)

Or a selective one? ;P

Sure didn't take her and Josh D long!

I guess you could say that they have a "Big Love"? ;P (okay, that joke was a bit far fetched :)

I wonder how they're gonna work her being pregnant into the story. Hmmm...

She'll spawn a demon for sure. ;P

Oh, and happy Thanksgiving! :)

Thanks!

Pumpkin soup was on the menu. ;P

Also, I was sent home with a bottle of wine and a whole pie plus my care package! They didn't have much on the menu, just the soup, turkey, root veggie medley with a mustard sauce, and a graham cracker stuffing(which I had never had or heard of before, but was very yummy). Some kind of apple thingy a la mode was for dessert.

Everything went very well. The lady is now contemplating having something every month plus the holidays. That would be good news. :)

Oh, BTW it only got to around 73 degrees today. It was niiiiice! ;D

And how was you non-turkey day?

Hey, nearly forgot...the lady had a statue of you in her office. ;P

Nice, I guess? What exactly is the care package?

Woohoo! That would be great.

And how was you non-turkey day?

I had "slavink" and mashed potatoes with leaks mixed in. It was a nice and quiet day.

the lady had a statue of you in her office. ;P

A harlequin statue? That lady has excellent taste. :)

Today is my oldest nephew's big 16th birthday party. He's actually sharing it with a friend of his (who's also 16). About 50 people will be attending the feast that he and his friend had to organize it mostly by themselves. Alcoholic beverages will be served and a good (and somewhat intimidating) friend of the family provide some oversight and he will act as a bouncer if need be. The youngest nephews will most probably be staying over at my place.

The husband made it, I think. He likes to cook as a hobby. I don't think the missus does much cooking. Anyway, he had a whole stick of butter in it. It tasted like it was similar to the recipe you gave me. It was pretty good. :)

What exactly is the care package?

Just a take-out container with some of the food from the meal. I think it was the first time she ever insisted on us taking food. The wine and the pie was really unexpected. She gave me 3 large chocolate coins as it was the first night of Hanukkah as well, but they got lost in the pile during cleanup and I forgot to take them. :/

It was a sly-looking one. He was standing with his arms folded and doing a smirk/leer expression. ;P

So you are not attending the party? Is drinking at 16 legal where you live? I guess you'll be doing bouncer duty on the 2 youngest? ;P

Nah, the party for family members was a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't go because I was sick/ill/had an annoying cold. This party is for his friends, who are mostly about his age.

You can drink whatever you like while you're at home.

I guess you'll be doing bouncer duty on the 2 youngest? ;P

You really think I'm *that* intimidating ('cause I have my doubts) ;P

My own 16th birthday way was a lot less... impressive, I guess. I didn't have any party for friends as I didn't really have any friends. Just a small get-together for family in the evening.

Well, then...that there confirms where my paternal unit got his policy from. ;)

Nah, I meant that they'd likely be using you to bounce off...kinda like Hop On Pop, only it'd be Hop On Arekino. ;P

Anyway, I'm sure that I could easily take ya! ;P ;D

Well that just sucks! You need to have a good party some time to make up for that. Maybe for your fiddy-eth...paint ya gold or something...Oh, wait...that's kinda like Goldfinger(or Goldmember), and well you *are* Dutch! LOL (Sorry while I amuse myself with terrible jokes! ;P)

For my 16th my friends took me to the ice skating rink up in Sunrise. I don't think we drank anything harder than sodas, but a good time was had at least. I was kinda shocked that they'd go to the trouble. It was a very nice surprise.

So why didn't you have any friends? Did you have the Avoidant thing back then? Well, if I knew ya back then I'd have made sure to give ya a good party. :)

IDK, 16 year old girls hopping on top of me... some people might get the wrong idea. ;P

I'm sure that I could easily take ya! ;P ;D

I'm sure I wouldn't mind. :P

Did you have the Avoidant thing back then?

I was just an awkward 16 year old nerd. I had a few school friends but they weren't people I hung out with. I didn't hang out with anyone. I don't really know WTF was on my mind in those days. I was a bullied, lonely, ill-adjusted, horny-but-frustrated, somewhat arrogant teenager. My last real birthday party I had when I was 12. After that, it just didn't seem worth my while.

Awww, Arekino! You need a massive, lingering ***huuuuuuggggg***.

I have a movie to watch right now. After that, I have a quick post to do as this one is kinda stale and comments are over 40!
