Scents

I was tempted to post an excerpt of my fanfic tonight, but instead I did a bit of editing and revising.  It's probably not the best fiction but it's not the worst either.  I'm trying not to get all Harlequin romance novel with it.  I actually went and looked at some of those today.  Most are crap.  But then again, peeps make money off that crap.  That Fiddy Shades shite started out as a fanfic, after all.  Wouldn't that be something?  Making moolah off of OUAT inspired smut! LOL

Anyway, aside from doing my editing, it was a fairly boring day.  There was a foul and mysterious odor in my bedroom so I decided to change the sheets and wash the comforter to see if that would mitigate it.  That didn't seem to help much as I'm still detecting something and it's driving me mad.  Now there's a layered scent effect--clean bed linens with some weird odor still lingering.  I've always had an acute sense of smell but now it's getting annoying.  All these different scents.  I keep dragon's blood in my drawers so my clothes will smell nice but now that scent is annoying me. I've tried burning a spruce scented candle that I have(I still like the smell of that) but that scent isn't lingering.  BAH!  Madness!

Speaking of scents, did you see the story of that dude who found the whale hurl on the beach?  Yep.  A big hunk of ambergris.  Who the hell was the first one to go around sniffing whale hurl to determine that it smelled nice?  There's some really nasty crap that's used for expensive perfume.  Give me some nice eucalyptus and citrus.

So what do y'all like to smell?

Fiddy Shades shite

I can't believe I had to google that :)

Erotic fan-fiction is a pretty big thing on the internet. I used to read some of that stuff sometimes.

dragon's blood

Never heard of that. What does it smell like?

BAH! Madness!

Yeah, you probably need to find the source. Follow your nose? :)

did you see the story of that dude who found the whale hurl on the beach?

I did, that lucky bastard :)

So what do y'all like to smell?

Well, there's the classics of baked bread and cut grass. Then there's lavender, mint, anise, the smell of the sea, talcum powder... and I'm sure many others. I have a pretty good sense of smell. It's actually a hindrance sometimes. If a place (like several companies where I have worked) has a strong smell to it, it becomes unbearable for me to stay there long.

There's also the smell of the fresh winter air, if you can call that a smell.

BTW I've gotten myself the first season of Game Of Thrones from the library. It's not really my favourite genre but I decided to give it a try anyway.

I can't believe I had to google that :) I've never read it or even attempted to investigate it. It was all the rage a while back and all anyone on TV would talk about. I'm so non-conformist that I refuse to get into anything that is a fad. I have never even read any Harry Potter to this day.

I used to read some of that stuff sometimes. When I was in either Jr. High or Freshman year of HS, a friend of mine used to read those paperback romance novels all the time. I had no interest in reading back then. I had no idea what the appeal was. Then one day she was reading one and it was particularly juicy and she stopped and turned to me with a big grin and says, "Here, read this!" OMG, it was nothing but porn! LOL And we went to a Parochial school and she read these things almost every day and no one questioned it. I thought it was the funniest thing.

What does it smell like? My mother's ex used to say that it smells like soap. IDK, kinda sweet and spicy, I'd say. It's a tree resin.

that lucky bastard :) Yeah, seriously. The best I ever found on the beach was a broken stainless steel watch. :(

baked bread I live not too far from a bread factory. On certain nights when the breeze is blowing in the right direction it smells heavenly.

Then there's lavender, mint Those two together are wonderful.

If a place...has a strong smell to it, it becomes unbearable for me to stay there long. Oh yeah, I know what ya mean. I think we both have that sensory overload thing going.

fresh winter air Yeah, I like to breath that in deeply.

Game Of Thrones I like it. I watch it whenever the satellite company graces me with free HBO. ;)
