People look for strength in strange places sometimes. Of course, the moral outrage drowns out the fear and feelings of powerlessness. It's a pleasant fantasy to distract from a nightmare. Perhaps better than drugs or alcohol while still delivering the high. As free of consequences as any daydream although not necessarily as healthy and, of course, just as avoidant of reality.

Well big boss had everyone fuming today. So we were all bonding over various fight songs while we worked. We're barely getting any hours each week over the summer. They scheduled us for 5 hours today, from 11am_4pm. Then around 2:30 he came down & started hustling us to hurry up! Then there was food left over from the kids camp going on, but we weren't allowed to have any even though other staff had some. The way he's so unfair has everyone about to have a mutiny!

Well, it's quite warm again here in my room. I bought myself a small thermohygrometer and apparently it's 31.8 degrees Celsius in here and the humidity is 68%. Downstairs it's about 5 degrees cooler. Good thing I still have an electric fan.
It has been oppressively hot here. Upper 90's F for the past week. Yesterday it was 98F!!! Today is think it got up to 95F in Ft Lauderdale while I was at work. It's a good thing the AC works well both at home & at work, otherwise the heat would be intolerable. :/
In other news, I asked Roxy if she could buy a certain t-shirt for me from a place online. I don't want QoH to know what I'm buying because she always has something negative to say & I'll never hear the end of it. So Roxy just sent me pics of the front & back of her credit card & told me to order it! :O I have to say that she definitely trusts me more than anyone I've ever known. At least she knows I won't misuse the info & that I will give her the money as soon as the shirt arrives. (It's a variation of the see no evil etc monkeys, except with bdsm ladies ;P) I'm buying it so that I will have something kinda naughty to wear to the Dirty Bingo night next month at the pub by my workplace. They are going to have prizes from the Hustler store (Roxy's favorite place). The 2 of us are planning to go. She said she went to it before and it was fun. :)

Yes. I just ordered it in her name, used her cc#, & had it sent to her house & order info & shipping info sent to her email. She then forwarded the confirmation emails to me. Like I said before, she knows I'm not going to use her info without permission. I've had her order stuff for me before, but she was busy with something else this time around & didn't have the time to do it before the sale ended, so she let me do it myself. Lol
I'm doing a somewhat better now BTW. I've opened the roof window to my bedroom and the humidity has gone down. Instead of 70% it's now 42%. Strange how that works. It's a bit colder outside now so I guess that also helps.

Anyway, yesterday morning when the assistant manager came in, she told me that big boss's son had been in a bad motorcycle accident the night before & was in the ICU. Big boss wouldn't be coming in to work because he was at the hospital with his son. We all knew that it was going to happen. He's 21 years old and very immature. He father bought the motorcycle for him. He had already messed up something on it & his father paid to fix it. He was driving it without a motorcycle licence (you're supposed to take a course to learn how to safely operate one before taking the motorcycle licensing test at the DMV), so driving it illegally. His father kept making the excuse that he is 21 & what he does is his business. Well, IMO if he bought the motorcycle himself & chose to drive it illegally, then you could say it's his business. But to buy the thing for him & not require him to get the proper training & license for it makes big boss partly responsible IMO. Last I heard, he was going to live, so that's good. Hopefully he has learned his lesson, but he's kinda a dumbass anyway, so I doubt it.
So yesterday boss lady was already on vacation in Europe, big boss didn't come in, & the assistant manager had her suitcase in the office ready to go to the airport yesterday afternoon for her own European vacation. So she asked me if I could stay & be in charge of the evening event. I said yes, of course. It's slow this time of year so I jump at the opportunity to get extra hours. It was a very easy event for our company's VP. I just had to make sure the food & drinks were set out on time & make sure the room was completely cleared at the end. I was in charge of my 2 coworkers & it was no big deal. I ended up working 13.5 hours yesterday. :)
Since I ended up staying later than I had anticipated, I saw Roxy briefly. She still seemed to be in a mood. I texted her after I left work & she has yet to text me back. IDK what her fucking problem is. :/

LOL the worst thing about it is its very boring. Today I was only over there about 3.5 hours. I was scheduled to be there at 7am, but the building manager said to come at 8am because the meeting started at 9am. I know he doesn't like getting up early, so that's partly why. I wasn't going to lose an hour of pay so I just clocked in at my regular workplace, grabbed a few bags of coffee to take with me (as an excuse should anyone ask why I was there I could say I needed more coffee) then sat in my car until 7:30 then headed over. I don't even think it took 5 minutes to get over there so I sat in my car for another 15 minutes until the manager arrived. After the meeting I took the supplies back then I went over to Roxy's for about 45 minutes. I paid her the $ I owed her & got my shirt. :)
The building manager is not my boss & he cannot change my schedule. If I'm scheduled to come in at a certain time I can't just come in an hour later. Both bosses who do the scheduling are out of town, so nothing anyone can do.

Well today is Independence Day here. I already made bbq ribs & chicken a couple of days ago, but now QoH wants me to grill some burgers & hotdogs. I already went out & set up the grill with charcoal, now I'm just waiting for the meat to defrost. It's so freaking hot outside that I had to put on a bikini. ;P
Yes. When you do this sort of work, it's typical to have a few different companies that you work for so it keeps you working almost full-time. I got lucky when I came back to where I'm working now. The full-time guy retired & the "supervisor" got fired, so up until now (while it's slow during summer) I've been working almost full-time & haven't needed to work elsewhere.
TBH I thought she was one of the few players on the Dutch team who weren't making a mess of it.

She used to wash her own. IDK what she does when I'm not here. She certainly doesn't want me touching any of her stuff, not that I want to. I definitely don't want her washing any of my clothes. She thinks she's the only one who knows how to wash them properly, but in reality she doesn't. She has a history of ruining clothes because she has always bought cheap quality laundry soap & never used fabric softeners. She has also never owned a dryer. She used to hang the clothes out in the sun all day and they would get faded & stiff. I've been washing my own clothes since I've was a teenager. I also started buying fabric softener & hanging them in my bathroom to dry. Of course QoH copies whatever I do.
Omg I'm so tired! I worked almost 9 hours last night! We had a party for an investment company where they have a free dinner for prospective clients then do a sales pitch. They had a really nice menu (buffet) for that type of thing--beef tenderloin carved to order, Mahi mahi, asparagus, tossed salad, veggies, etc & a dessert buffet. Then we had to completely break down all 16 round sit down tables, chairs, & 10 long tables from the buffets. :/
People were cheapskates at the bar. I only made $4 in tips after all that work. :/
No. I don't care for it, but I did have several slices of the beef tenderloin. It was really good. And I had many asparagus and a few hors d'oeuvres. I ate quite a lot actually. ;D ;P

It's literally about 200 meters from work. I can park in the garage next to my workplace and walk down there. I have a parking pass for the garage so I don't have to pay. Yes, yes they are! The Hustler store is supposed to be doing some of the prizes. Other prizes are shots & bar tabs being paid. I'm not interested in shots. I wouldn't mind if they paid for a beer. I know Roxy is going for the Hustler prizes! LOL
I think it's gift cards for the Hustler store. I'm not a fan of gift cards. I prefer cash prizes. Stores already have their prices inflated, so if you win a $20 gift card, the store is in actuality only losing a few bucks since they buy all their merchandise at wholesale prices then charge you retail prices. Like at work, a bottle of soda costs about 50 cents per unit but they charge $5 at concessions. If we gave a $20 gift card to buy sodas, we'd only be giving away $2 in product. And with a gift card you can't spend it at any other store than the one it's from. :/

The people who work as ushers in the theater are unpaid volunteers. Since there are 3 performances of Paw Patrol each day (Saturday & Sunday), a continental breakfast will be provided to the volunteers since it'll be a long day for them.
Today I was supposed to work 8 hours, but there was a disaster in Ft Lauderdale where some idiot subcontractors working for FPL managed to drill a 6 inch hole into the main water supply line for the city. So the whole city & a few surrounding municipalities are without water today. I got a call while I was driving to work that the event that I was supposed to be working tonight got cancelled. I was really pissed. If they had called me a little sooner I wouldn't have bothered putting on makeup, getting dressed, and wasted gas driving part way to work. :/
Even worse I'm out about $100. It's slow this time of year & I really needed the money. :/

I am unaffected since I live 17 miles south in N Miami. ;P It just put my workplace out of commission. We do have plenty of water at home- 3 cases of 6 1-gallon jugs & 4 cases of 40 .5 liter bottles. We are prepared should anything like that happen here.

Same here. The news & weather people have been hyping up a heat wave that's happening in the Midwest of the country. They really piss me off because they keep showing the "heat index" numbers (the alleged "feels like" temperatures) and not the actual temperatures. This is done to push the climate change agenda. In reality, it's no different than any other summer for as long as I can remember. There have always been a couple of days each summer where it gets mid to upper 90's. Average high where I'm at is 92. If it gets 93 here that's considered a very hot day. And those highs fluctuate because we always have thunderstorms that pop up & cool things down.
So apparently the "heat index" number combines temperature with humidity. Humidity percentage is important because the higher it goes, the harder it is for the body to perspire and lose heat via evaporation of sweat. So then it feels hotter because the body stays hotter.
Personally I've noticed that a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius is much more uncomfortable at a humidity of 70 percent that at 50 percent.
Anyway, so far the temperature is going up here. In my bedroom it's 29.7 degrees Celsius at a humidity of 59 percent at 22:27 o'clock.

I'm a little busier this month than originally scheduled. And big boss called me in to his office to tell me that he would be paying me for 8 hours for the day I got cancelled due to the water main break. That was unexpected & very generous of him. I figured if they gave us anything it would just be the 4 hour minimum. This actually works in my favor because the party has been rescheduled for next month. I'm basically getting paid twice for it. :)
I'm also excited to be going to dirty bingo with Roxy. She is also excited. BTW the old heat record in the Netherlands was broken today: 39.3 degrees Celsius. Last one was from 1944, that was 38.6. Also, the Netherlands was the hottest place in Europe apparently today. Thankfully in my bedroom it was "only" 32.3 deg.

D: That's almost 103F! D: The hottest I've ever been in was 106F in Colombia, South Carolina. I don't know how people live there as it's not that unusual for it to get that hot there. And the humidity is awful as well. :/

I think it's both. I don't think she means to pick terrible people. I think she tends to settle because she has anxiety & low self esteem(though I doubt she'd admit to the low self esteem). I think she used to think having someone was better than no one. Since I've been back to work & became better friends with her, she's cut a few of the losers out of her life. I think her mother appreciates the fact that I told her that some of these people are leeches & losers and not good people to have in her life. I'm just calling a spade a spade. And her mother knows that I'm not going to put her in any dangerous situations.

It was packed when we got there! The hostess at the door asked if we had a reservation. I asked her if we needed one. She said no, but there weren't any tables available & we'd have to hang out at the bar. We went over to the girl who was giving out the bingo supplies, got our bingo sheets, crayons, some spanking sticks, & coupons for the Hustler store, then tried to find a spot at the bar.
They're weren't any spots at the bar. We walked all the way around the bar & were standing next to an empty booth when the hostess girl came by & asked if we'd like to sit there. We said sure since it seemed like the only spot available.
It was so freaking loud in there between all the people, the loud music, & the crappy PA system that the MC was using to call the bingo that you could barely hear what he was saying.
We didn't win any of the bingo, but Roxy did go up to the stage to participate in the orgasm contest (think of that famous scene in When Harry Met Sally ;P). Roxy didn't win. I told her that it wasn't her fault, the caliber of guys that she's gone out with obviously haven't given her any good ones. ;P But at least she got a token for a free drink for participating. :)
The bingo ended about 15 minutes early, but when we were walking back to my car a long freight train was going through so we got stuck at the railroad crossing for about 10 minutes. Then we ran into a guy that she had been dating on the sidewalk. I had a feeling that we would since he's such a creeper! Idk how she could stand to go out with him! He's short, fat & bald! And a pervy creeper..I don't care how much money he has!
Anyway, I took Roxy home then I went back home. We had a pretty good time regardless of not winning anything. At least if we go again we'll know what to expect.
Hopefully we can go do the drag queen bingo at the brewery that's near Parker some time. Since it's just a brewery & not a restaurant & bar, maybe it'll be less loud & crowded.

Yes, chillin' inside in the cold AC & watching the TV. Had to go to city hall earlier to pay the water bill, the I went to the kringloopwinkel. It was too hot in there & they didn't have anything that I liked that fit so I didn't stay long. Also QoH was complaining. :/
Next week I have a couple of classes to go to for work. The first is a CPR class & the other is a customer service class. Both things look good on a resume and since my workplace is paying, I might as well take advantage of them. And it gets me out of the house and away from QoH for a few hours, so that's always a good thing. ;P

The only thing I'm a bit concerned about is big boss retaliating against me because I went around him to sign up for it. He lied to me & said that it was only for full-time people. I went & asked the HR lady & she said it was open to all employees & it would be especially beneficial to those of us who deal with customers. Then she asked me if I wanted to sign up for the customer service class that was being offered. I told her that I needed to check with my managers first to see if I was scheduled to work that day. When I went down to ask the managers, big boss interjected himself in again & told me that it was only for managers & full-time people. I emailed the HR lady & told her what big boss said. She told me that he is wrong & that once again it is a class that is open to everyone, especially those of us who deal with customers. So I told her to go ahead and sign me up for that one as well.
I'm 99% sure that big boss is retaliating against me now. He's very much a control freak & especially likes to control information & keep those of us who are not in management in the dark regarding things happening in the company. He doesn't like the fact that I sat in on the last company meeting & found out about the classes in the first place. He never let any of us regular employees know about them. I wouldn't have known either if I hadn't sat in on the meeting.
Now after I've gotten my August schedule the first thing I noticed was that I was taken off the company meeting which I normally work & set up the beverage table for, & that I was taken off all the BW meetings. I'm sure that's because he doesn't want me there in the morning when he's not there because he can't monitor if I go upstairs to ask HR things.
Well if he says anything to me next week when I'm there for classes I'm going to tell him to talk to HR. I'd like to confront him about why he's such a control freak & lies about things that would be beneficial to his employees, but I don't want to come across as a smart-ass and let on that I'm on to his game.

Unfortunately he is the head of my department. I should probably stop calling him big boss since he still has to answer to 2 other bosses that are higher up than him.
How he got his position at my work is a mystery. He's quite a conman & liar from what other coworkers have been telling me. He got fired from his last job for theft & sexual harassment. He had 42 different women lodge complaints against him. How he managed to pass a background check is beyond me. I was told that he has bankruptcies & lied on his resume. Both are things that would normally disqualify someone for a management position.
Also Roxy told me that a previous HR lady was investigating him for embezzling money, but she died of a heart attack & all the evidence mysteriously disappeared. The subsequent HR people didn't pursue it even though the lady who died had the authorities involved & was in the process of doing depositions.
Everything about the guy is shady. And he behaves like a cult leader with his so called "management team". It's just so creepy. :/

Not necessarily powerful, he just manages to get into places where he has friends helping him get away with his shit. He should be careful, though. I have friends, too.
Anyway, enough about him. I think I've been dealing with a mild bladder infection or UTI for the past few days. I've had the sensation of having to pee urgently & frequently, but not much comes out. I've been drinking lots of herbal tea with rose hips to try to flush out whatever cooties got up in there. Today it seems like it's a little better. I'm still peeing more than I should be, but the feeling like I'm-going-to-burst-from-holding-it isn't there. Hopefully it'll be gone by tomorrow.

Omg, yes it is! And I think I accidentally exacerbated the situation by eating more than half of a 15 kilo watermelon over the course of a week. Watermelon is a diuretic. :/

Self diagnosed. I don't have $ for a doctor & they'd just prescribe an antibiotic. It cleared up on its own in about the same amount of time as an antibiotic would have made it clear up. Unfortunately I didn't have any cranberry juice in the house.
Anyway, I feel much better today. I don't feel like I have to pee every 5 minutes. I think I've only gone 3 times in 8 hours so far, so that's about normal for me. :)

I really wish you were here. We could go out & do fun stuff. :) I was looking at the website for a microbrewery that's not too far from work. They have games and various event nights like trivia & drag queen bingo. Hopefully I'll be able to get Roxy to go with me some time. It'll have to wait until at least next month when I have more work. It's easier to get out for a couple of hours when I'm already up that way & QoH is less likely to notice.
Yesterday I tried to grill some steaks & chicken before the afternoon rains started. I thought I could get it done in time. It was sunny when I got the charcoals prepped & lit, then about 10 minutes later it started pouring! I had to put the lid on the grill & extinguish the flames. It rained for about 45 minutes, then I went out & tried again. Just as the coals were about halfway to being ready, the rain started up again! I ended up having to move the grill onto the back porch under the little overhang. :/
It rained the whole time I was trying to cook, but luckily it wasn't coming down very hard. I was really pissed that QoH insisted on buying steaks when the weather forecast said 90% chance of rain all weekend. :/
At least everything turned out okay. The steaks were very tender. Today I took one of the chicken breasts along with the drippings from the chicken (I bake the chicken in the oven first before I grill it) and made a pot of delicious chicken & rice. :)
Yes it is! It's been raining here all day & I just got home from the CPR class at work (and a little shopping ;P) and was starving, so I'm having a big bowl full right now. :)

Since the CPR class ended about an hour & a half early, I decided to take the opportunity to do a little shopping. There were a couple pairs of sneakers that I liked- one Converse, the other Puma- both grey with white bottoms. The Converse were canvas & the Puma the classic suede. Neither were my size, though. :/
I did buy a Profusion Cosmetics eyeshadow pallet. Only $4, so super cheap! :)

It seemed like the guy doing the class was trying to do a rush job so he wouldn't have to be there the full 4 hours. He asked everyone if we had taken a CPR class before and since everyone but 2 or 3 had not (I hadn't), he said okay this will be like a refresher. I think it could have been more thorough. It felt a bit rushed to me. We *did* finish an hour & a half early. I thought there would be more hands-on learning with the various dummies & the AED machine, but we were only required to do 30 chest compressions on the adult dummy. It was interesting & informative, and having the certification looks nice on a resume. ;P

Today I had the second of the 2 classes that I had for this week. This time it was a class by the Dale Carnegie folks for customer service. There wasn't really anything new that I learned. I read the book How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie about 15 years ago & put a lot of those techniques into practice. It was nice to just get out of the house & see a couple work friends. :)
Oh, and I'm allegedly getting paid for the 2.5 hours that I was there. When I go in for work on Friday I'm going to ask if I was supposed to have clocked in for the CPR class. It would be nice to get paid for that one, too. :)

I first heard of that over 10 years ago when I first started researching NPD. I thought it sounded like a bunch of nonsense then & still do. You definitely should look for another therapist. IMO exposure therapy works. I got over my bad social anxiety with what could basically be described as method acting combined with exposure therapy. And not having QoH around me all the time for constant criticism helps, too. You have no idea how wonderful it is to go to work & not have her there barking out orders, criticizing, & questioning my every move.
They mostly stay in the office & rely on me to handle things. They only come make an appearance when there is a big party, then they mostly stay in the kitchen.
You seem to be better able to stand up to them than to QoH.
If they get out of line I can always report them to HR. Also I don't have to live with them. ;P
Can you give a concrete example of what you had to do?
Create a character that is confident & badass (for me it was Xul ;P) then walk around like you are playing that character in a play or movie or something. Also get out & interact with people while in character. Eventually it kinda tricks your brain into being that character all the time. :)

Well Roxy has been busy doing some remodeling at her house. She's scraping up the ugly linoleum off her bedroom floor & removing the ugly 1970's paneling from the walls. She said there's terrazzo flooring under the lino, so she's just going to have it cleaned & polished. She's patching the walls & plans on painting them.
She's also worked some good concerts lately. First it was Iron Maiden a few weeks ago, then Kiss this past Tuesday night. Next Saturday she'll be working the Queen with Adam Lambert concert. :)

She eats a lot of different things actually. Lunch meats, steaks, burgers & hotdogs (no buns), smoked salmon, sardines..whenever I make popcorn she always eats almost half, so that's carbs. She also eats hummus all the time (more carbs). And blueberries..she has to have a couple kilos of those every week.

She has a full size like what I have. Idk if it's the same size that she had as a kid. Most kids have a twin size, not a full. I had a full size as a kid because some hotel threw it away & QoH brought it home for the spare bedroom. When I outgrew my crib, I got put into the spare bedroom with all the thrift store mismatched furniture. I never got any kids' furniture like my peers got. :/

I'd like to get some new furniture that is to my tastes, like a black leather tufted headboard, a new bed that is Dunlop latex not the horrible memory foam one that I have now, & maybe some mirrored nightstands & dresser. I'd like to get some satin sheet sets..1 black, 1 red or burgundy, & 1 purple. And a new comforter set. :)
Well today I had to go in to work for a pop-up lunch for the CFO & some of the other executives. It was super easy. While I was upstairs by the executive offices, my friend who is the CEO's personal assistant told me that they are having another lunch on Tuesday, so now I'm coming in to work that. I also picked up 2 more jobs. I'm coming in to fill in for the guy who normally works one of the VIP rooms. I'm very happy about that because all he does is roll the food over from the kitchen, then he gets half of the tips from the bartender who just happens to be my friend C. Also one of the days is for the B-52's, OMD, Berlin concert. ;D
People pay $30 to get in the VIP room where they get unlimited beer, wine, champagne, or soda + hors d'oeuvres for 1 hour preshow, then more drinks + desserts at intermission. All I have to do is wheel the rack of food over from the kitchen to the VIP room & refill the food as needed.

Yes, they do! Even though they're older than dirt now. ;P Kate Pierson can still sing. I saw a video of a concert they did last year & she still sounds great. :) I'm looking forward to seeing all the bands performing that night.

I worked the Indian Independence Day thing yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't get any of the tikka masala that I wanted. I only got a samosa, a chicken leg, and something that I can only describe as an Indian burrito.
I made moussaka before. It was a lot of work, but it turned out really good. :)

It seemed like they used a standard soft tortilla for the wrapper. I could not identify any of the ingredients of the filling other than onions. Everything was minced up too finely. And the spices were Indian & not Mexican. It looked just like a regular burrito on the outside. It was pretty good IMO.
Well today at work they had a security /active shooter training meeting for the people who work up in the executive offices. Since I am friends with most everyone who attended, they asked me to stay & participate and have lunch with them. It was pretty basic info: run, hide, or fight. Also situational awareness & stuff like that. I also learned that our security cameras are linked up to the Ft Lauderdale Police Department. I knew that the outside cameras that are on the 2nd Street side of the building were linked, but I wasn't aware that all of them could be accessed by the PD if there was an emergency.

Our head of security who did the meeting said it's extremely unlikely. Unfortunately because of the shooting that happened at Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport & the Parkland shooting, and now the last 3 shootings around the country recently, everyone is all worked up and this sort of "training" makes them feel like they're being proactive.
In actuality(and more realistically), you're more likely to be killed in a car accident.
One good thing that I learned is they've been planting "unattended backpacks" to test how alert the ushers in the theater are. (They are to report unattended bags & such to security.) You get a $25 gift certificate as a reward if you find one. I will definitely be on the lookout now. ;P

I was off today and did the grocery shopping. When I got home, QoH started acting crazy & was threatening to get a lawyer to sue me(because I paid the Sam's club membership renewal). She was screaming & got in my face & jabbed her finger in my back when I was putting something in the refrigerator. The best thing I can do is to go lock myself in my room when she is like that (I've been locked in my room for 4 hours so far). When I was going up to my room she was mocking me in the most childish way that I was "running away". I truly despise her.
At least I go in to work early Saturday (8:30am-4pm) and I'm working the VIP room Sunday night. QoH is determined to make my life hell with her crazy illogical accusations and non-stop verbal & emotional abuse. I'll be glad when we get busy at work and I won't have to be at home so much.

Because there wasn't anything for me to do other than sit around and wait for them to finish. At the end, 2 of the ladies that I know from BW were praising me to the CEO. He had brought a tray of assorted chocolates that no one ate, so I took them home. :)

I'm very happy for some friends from high school who live up by Stuart which was originally supposed to get a direct hit. I doubt we'll get much of anything where I live. Maybe some rain. Basically nothing different than we've been having for the past month.

It's been creeping along like a turtle, winds have gone up to 185mph (making it a tie for strongest Atlantic hurricane ever recorded which is completely insane!), & now it's not turning north so quickly like it was predicted, so we will probably get some mild tropical storm force winds here along with rain. :/

I wasn't supposed to go back to work until Wednesday, but the meeting was cancelled last week as a cautionary measure because no one knew exactly where the hurricane was going to go, how long it was going to take, or how strong it would be. I'm still scheduled to go in on Thursday, thank God! I'm going crazy stuck here with QoH!
We didn't have any dangerous wind or anything here. Yesterday we had some fast moving thunderstorms, but not much wind. Today there was a bit of wind and a couple of light sprinkles. Not really much to amount to anything. It's just gloomy outside.
In other news, my diet has been a bit of a disaster the past few months (eating too many carbs & sugar) and I've put on about 5 pounds that I'm having a hard time getting rid of. So today I've started drastic measures--no sugar or carbs (flour, rice, bread, pasta, etc) for a week & daily exercise. I'll see what happens. Also no artificial sweeteners. I'll just be drinking water, green tea, or ginkgo ginseng tea.
I'm eating fruits & veg for my carbs. I'm just cutting out the other stuff for a week. It's not going to kill me.
I went kinda crazy with potato chips the last 2 weeks. And it didn't help that I brought home a whole tray of chocolates that the CEO left behind at the last meeting that I worked for him. :/
I don't know why you're getting so worked up about it. I'm still eating regular food, just not refined sugars or carbs. The first day & a half I was having cravings for junk, but that finally passed. I'm just letting the crap clear out of my system.

Today I had to set up 3 rooms with 2 of my coworkers. The 3rd coworker didn't show up. It wasn't too difficult, but we did get some exercise, which was a good thing because I ate 2 more pieces of key lime pie that I had saved from Sunday night. Then the chef made some jambalaya so we had some of that before we left. Now I'm hungry again. That's the bad thing about eating crap, makes you crave more crap. :/

I, on the other hand, am very tired. I had to be up at 4:45am to be at work at 6am for a couple of early morning meetings. I left at 12:30pm and came home. Then QoH wanted me to mow the yard. I waited until 5:30 to do it because it was just too hot earlier today. It wasn't very humid & there was a nice breeze blowing when I finally went out to do it. Took about 2 hours. Now I'm laying down watching TV. I'm sure I'll sleep very well tonight.

I was watching some stupid movie about a witch killing monks in an abbey last night. I don't remember what it was called.
There's a series called Forged in Fire that I like. It's a competition between 4 bladesmiths each episode where that have to make a certain style blade using the techniques & parameters specified for each episode. The top 2 move on to compete against each other by making a specific type of blade at their home forge. They are given 5 days to do so, then come back to the competition forge to have it tested. The winner gets $10,000. I think it's a pretty cool show. Not much on of interest to me these days.

Tonight I am cooking a corned beef. Should be done in a couple of hours. I might make some carrots to go with it if I'm feeling up to it. I had to be up at 4:45am to be at work at 6am. I'm not feeling up to anything except for going to bed at this point.
The cabal that runs things likes to have their meetings super early. There was a rehearsal in the room that they use the night before, so no one set up for the meeting the day before like normal. I had to come in earlier than normal to set the room.
DiY noodles sound pretty good. I used to have a little pasta maker gadget thingy that a coworker gave me a long time ago, but QoH threw it away. She has a habit of throwing away my stuff, but if I was to do the same with her stuff the meltdown she'd have would be epic.
In other news, Roxy is supposed to work with me on Tuesday for one of the cabal's evening meetings. Afterward, we are planning to go to a brewery/restaurant close to work. Technically it's something that I planned since I've been wanting to go to this place for a while and it happens to be beer week this coming week and they are having a special for beer & brat. You know how I like my beer & brat. ;D Roxy is along for the ride at this point. That's what she gets for being indecisive about where we were going to go. ;P
Yes, she stole $20 out of my wallet a few weeks ago. She has stolen money out of my wallet before, and she stole $87 of tip money that I was saving and had hidden in the pocket of one of my coats in my closet. That really took some effort by her to find that. I've had to come up with a much better hiding place for my tip money, and now I take my wallet, keys, and security badge into the bathroom with me whenever I shower & wash my hair because that is when she seizes on the opportunity to steal from my wallet when I'm in the shower.

I really hate having people get my hopes up just to get let down. My dad used to do that. Used to get me excited about doing certain activities then we never would go. The night before the first 6am shift I had to take a pill to get to sleep. I hate to do that because you don't really get restful sleep. It just knocks you out & then the next thing you know it's time to get up. I don't think I dreamed or anything. I ended up feeling like shit the whole day. Then by the time I got home I was fighting to stay awake until bed time because if I dose off for a nap I'll never fall asleep at bedtime. At least the night before the 2nd 6am shift I had no problems falling asleep naturally. Last night, either. I don't feel too bad ATM.
I was only scheduled to work 4 hours today, but it's hardly worth my time to get out of bed that early for 4 hours, so I helped my coworkers set up a room for a couple of hours just so I could get 6 hours. None of the bosses said anything about it. ;D
Anyway, when I left work, I drove up by Parker to see how the renovations were progressing. It doesn't appear that they've started any of the new construction. IDK how the hell they're supposed to get everything finished before December 4 (the day they're scheduled to start having shows there again). D:

Well we've been having "fall-like for Florida" weather the past few days. It's windy, but the humidity has been relatively low for here, only in the upper 40's %. And the overnight low temperatures are in the mid to upper 70's instead of the low 80's. :)
Tomorrow I have to go to the stupid annual meeting for my department at work. I don't want to go but it's mandatory. The only upside is they're supposed to be feeding us dinner even though it's highly likely that it's just cheap ziti with marinara & salad like last year. :/ I'm seriously considering stopping at the convenience store across from the parking garage and buying a beer to drink before I go in for the meeting. I'm going to need something to help me sit through all the bullshit & lies that big boss will be telling everyone. >:(
I would imagine we have to sit through the food safety course again, the head of security will likely do his active shooter spiel(which I've sat through twice already), then big boss will do his spiel about how great a season we're going to have and tell us we're all going to make a lot of money. Well the other night at the meeting I was buzzed from the Heineken that I drank before the meeting. During the meeting, I was drinking some of the White Claw that Roxy brought with her. After the meeting the boss decided that he was going to open the bar & let everyone have a drink. I had a Michelob Ultra. Then Roxy & I went to the Hustler store. We took some pics with some of the Halloween masks that they had. I will send you the pics in your mailzzz. ;P
When I got home I probably had to get up 3 times during the night to pee. I didn't sleep well & had a mild headache when I got up so I took some ibuprofen. Then QoH wanted me to take her to buy a new phone, but like always, she waits around all day, so we didn't get there until late. Found a Samsung for $80. When we got home I tried to switch the sim card, but it wasn't working. I told her that I'd take it to the T-Mobile store after I got home, today but she blew up & said I want to leave her without a phone(we have a landline). I said I have to get up at 4am, I can't be out late! But she insisted & was very nasty so luckily there's a store close to the house. We went there, the guy put the sim in (it needed the adapter thingy & it went in another slot, I had it in the wrong one), then we came home & QoH wanted me to write out instructions for how to use it. :facepalm: anyway, I didn't sleep good & feel like shit now. :/

Well big boss had everyone fuming today. So we were all bonding over various fight songs while we worked. We're barely getting any hours each week over the summer. They scheduled us for 5 hours today, from 11am_4pm. Then around 2:30 he came down & started hustling us to hurry up! Well, it's quite warm again here in my room. I bought myself a small thermohygrometer and apparently it's 31.8 degrees Celsius in here and the humidity is 68%. Downstairs it's about 5 degrees cooler. Good thing I still have an electric fan.
It has been oppressively hot here. Upper 90's F for the past week. Yesterday it was 98F!!! Today is think it got up to 95F in Ft Lauderdale while I was at work. It's a good thing the AC works well both at home & at work, otherwise the heat would be intolerable. :/

I don't want QoH to know what I'm buying because she always has something negative to say & I'll never hear the end of it. At least she knows I won't misuse the info & that I will give her the money as soon as the shirt arrives. Anyway, yesterday morning when the assistant manager came in, she told me that big boss's son had been in a bad motorcycle accident the night before & was in the ICU. Big boss wouldn't be coming in to work because he was at the hospital with his son. We all knew that it was going to happen. He's 21 years old and very immature. He father bought the motorcycle for him. He had already messed up something on it & his father paid to fix it. He was driving it without a motorcycle licence (you're supposed to take a course to learn how to safely operate one before taking the motorcycle licensing test at the DMV), so driving it illegally. His father kept making the excuse that he is 21 & what he does is his business. Well, IMO if he bought the motorcycle himself & chose to drive it illegally, then you could say it's his business. But to buy the thing for him & not require him to get the proper training & license for it makes big boss partly responsible IMO. Last I heard, he was going to live, so that's good. Hopefully he has learned his lesson, but he's kinda a dumbass anyway, so I doubt it.
So yesterday boss lady was already on vacation in Europe, big boss didn't come in, & the assistant manager had her suitcase in the office ready to go to the airport yesterday afternoon for her own European vacation. So she asked me if I could stay & be in charge of the evening event. I said yes, of course. It's slow this time of year so I jump at the opportunity to get extra hours. It was a very easy event for our company's VP. I just had to make sure the food & drinks were set out on time & make sure the room was completely cleared at the end. I was in charge of my 2 coworkers & it was no big deal. I ended up working 13.5 hours yesterday. :)

In other news, we had a bit of a scare today since my mother fell on her butt and hit her head against the central heating radiator. No blood, hopefully no permanent damage to her back, but obviously she got quite a shock. We called for the doctor and he came round and checked her out. She seems relatively okay. We'll have to wait and see.

LOL the worst thing about it is its very boring. Today I was only over there about 3.5 hours. I was scheduled to be there at 7am, but the building manager said to come at 8am because the meeting started at 9am. I know he doesn't like getting up early, so that's partly why. I wasn't going to lose an hour of pay so I just clocked in at my regular workplace, grabbed a few bags of coffee to take with me (as an excuse should anyone ask why I was there I could say I needed more coffee) then sat in my car until 7:30 then headed over. I don't even think it took 5 minutes to get over there so I sat in my car for another 15 minutes until the manager arrived. After the meeting I took the supplies back then I went over to Roxy's for about 45 minutes. I paid her the $ I owed her & got my shirt. :)

Well today is Independence Day here. I already made bbq ribs & chicken a couple of days ago, but now QoH wants me to grill some burgers & hotdogs. Yes. When you do this sort of work, it's typical to have a few different companies that you work for so it keeps you working almost full-time. I got lucky when I came back to where I'm working now. The full-time guy retired & the "supervisor" got fired, so up until now (while it's slow during summer) I've been working almost full-time & haven't needed to work elsewhere.

She used to wash her own. IDK what she does when I'm not here. She certainly doesn't want me touching any of her stuff, not that I want to. I definitely don't want her washing any of my clothes. She thinks she's the only one who knows how to wash them properly, but in reality she doesn't. She has a history of ruining clothes because she has always bought cheap quality laundry soap & never used fabric softeners. She has also never owned a dryer. She used to hang the clothes out in the sun all day and they would get faded & stiff. I've been washing my own clothes since I've was a teenager. I also started buying fabric softener & hanging them in my bathroom to dry. Of course QoH copies whatever I do.

Omg I'm so tired! I worked almost 9 hours last night! We had a party for an investment company where they have a free dinner for prospective clients then do a sales pitch. They had a really nice menu (buffet) for that type of thing--beef tenderloin carved to order, Mahi mahi, asparagus, tossed salad, veggies, etc & a dessert buffet. Then we had to completely break down all 16 round sit down tables, chairs, & 10 long tables from the buffets. :/
People were cheapskates at the bar. I only made $4 in tips after all that work. :/

It's literally about 200 meters from work. I can park in the garage next to my workplace and walk down there. I have a parking pass for the garage so I don't have to pay. I was thinking that I could go to Roxy's house and we could ride together, or take both our cars so I don't have to drop her off back home or she won't have to bring me back to get my car. I'd rather go to her house first to be sure we're both there at the same time. The last time I had her meet me somewhere she was so late that I thought she wasn't going to show up! I don't want to be sitting alone at the place like some kind of schmuck loser!

I think it's gift cards for the Hustler store. I'm not a fan of gift cards. I prefer cash prizes. Stores already have their prices inflated, so if you win a $20 gift card, the store is in actuality only losing a few bucks since they buy all their merchandise at wholesale prices then charge you retail prices. Like at work, a bottle of soda costs about 50 cents per unit but they charge $5 at concessions. If we gave a $20 gift card to buy sodas, we'd only be giving away $2 in product. And with a gift card you can't spend it at any other store than the one it's from. :/
Anyway, I'm now working the volunteers' breakfasts this Saturday & Sunday. Roxy is also working those days so I'll get to see her for a few minutes at least. :)

The people who work as ushers in the theater are unpaid volunteers. Since there are 3 performances of Paw Patrol each day (Saturday & Sunday), a continental breakfast will be provided to the volunteers since it'll be a long day for them.
Today I was supposed to work 8 hours, but there was a disaster in Ft Lauderdale where some idiot subcontractors working for FPL managed to drill a 6 inch hole into the main water supply line for the city. So the whole city & a few surrounding municipalities are without water today. I got a call while I was driving to work that the event that I was supposed to be working tonight got cancelled. I was really pissed. If they had called me a little sooner I wouldn't have bothered putting on makeup, getting dressed, and wasted gas driving part way to work. :/
Even worse I'm out about $100. It's slow this time of year & I really needed the money. :/

I am unaffected since I live 17 miles south in N Miami. ;P It just put my workplace out of commission. We do have plenty of water at home- 3 cases of 6 1-gallon jugs & 4 cases of 40 .5 liter bottles. We are prepared should anything like that happen here.

Same here. The news & weather people have been hyping up a heat wave that's happening in the Midwest of the country. They really piss me off because they keep showing the "heat index" numbers (the alleged "feels like" temperatures) and not the actual temperatures. This is done to push the climate change agenda. In reality, it's no different than any other summer for as long as I can remember. There have always been a couple of days each summer where it gets mid to upper 90's. Average high where I'm at is 92. If it gets 93 here that's considered a very hot day. And those highs fluctuate because we always have thunderstorms that pop up & cool things down.

So apparently the "heat index" number combines temperature with humidity. Humidity percentage is important because the higher it goes, the harder it is for the body to perspire and lose heat via evaporation of sweat. So then it feels hotter because the body stays hotter.
Personally I've noticed that a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius is much more uncomfortable at a humidity of 70 percent that at 50 percent.
Anyway, so far the temperature is going up here. In my bedroom it's 29.7 degrees Celsius at a humidity of 59 percent at 22:27 o'clock.

BTW the old heat record in the Netherlands was broken today: 39.3 degrees Celsius. Last one was from 1944, that was 38.6. Also, the Netherlands was the hottest place in Europe apparently today. Thankfully in my bedroom it was "only" 32.3 deg.

I think it's both. I don't think she means to pick terrible people. I think she tends to settle because she has anxiety & low self esteem(though I doubt she'd admit to the low self esteem). I think she used to think having someone was better than no one. Since I've been back to work & became better friends with her, she's cut a few of the losers out of her life. I think her mother appreciates the fact that I told her that some of these people are leeches & losers and not good people to have in her life. I'm just calling a spade a spade. And her mother knows that I'm not going to put her in any dangerous situations.

It was last night. I went to Roxy's, changed into my black pushup bra & other shirt ;P , & drove us both. We just parked in the garage by our workplace since I have a parking pass for that one, then walked down to the place.
It was packed when we got there! The hostess at the door asked if we had a reservation. I asked her if we needed one. She said no, but there weren't any tables available & we'd have to hang out at the bar. We went over to the girl who was giving out the bingo supplies, got our bingo sheets, crayons, some spanking sticks, & coupons for the Hustler store, then tried to find a spot at the bar.
They're weren't any spots at the bar. We walked all the way around the bar & were standing next to an empty booth when the hostess girl came by & asked if we'd like to sit there. We said sure since it seemed like the only spot available.
It was so freaking loud in there between all the people, the loud music, & the crappy PA system that the MC was using to call the bingo that you could barely hear what he was saying.
We didn't win any of the bingo, but Roxy did go up to the stage to participate in the orgasm contest (think of that famous scene in When Harry Met Sally ;P). Roxy didn't win. I told her that it wasn't her fault, the caliber of guys that she's gone out with obviously haven't given her any good ones. ;P But at least she got a token for a free drink for participating. :)
The bingo ended about 15 minutes early, but when we were walking back to my car a long freight train was going through so we got stuck at the railroad crossing for about 10 minutes. Then we ran into a guy that she had been dating on the sidewalk. I had a feeling that we would since he's such a creeper! Idk how she could stand to go out with him! He's short, fat & bald! And a pervy creeper..I don't care how much money he has!
Anyway, I took Roxy home then I went back home. We had a pretty good time regardless of not winning anything. At least if we go again we'll know what to expect.
Hopefully we can go do the drag queen bingo at the brewery that's near Parker some time. Since it's just a brewery & not a restaurant & bar, maybe it'll be less loud & crowded.

Yes, chillin' inside in the cold AC & watching the TV. Had to go to city hall earlier to pay the water bill, the I went to the kringloopwinkel. It was too hot in there & they didn't have anything that I liked that fit so I didn't stay long. Also QoH was complaining. :/
Next week I have a couple of classes to go to for work. The first is a CPR class & the other is a customer service class. Both things look good on a resume and since my workplace is paying, I might as well take advantage of them. And it gets me out of the house and away from QoH for a few hours, so that's always a good thing. ;P

The only thing I'm a bit concerned about is big boss retaliating against me because I went around him to sign up for it. He lied to me & said that it was only for full-time people. She told me that he is wrong & that once again it is a class that is open to everyone, especially those of us who deal with customers. So I told her to go ahead and sign me up for that one as well.
I'm 99% sure that big boss is retaliating against me now. He's very much a control freak & especially likes to control information & keep those of us who are not in management in the dark regarding things happening in the company. He doesn't like the fact that I sat in on the last company meeting & found out about the classes in the first place. He never let any of us regular employees know about them. I wouldn't have known either if I hadn't sat in on the meeting.
Now after I've gotten my August schedule the first thing I noticed was that I was taken off the company meeting which I normally work & set up the beverage table for, & that I was taken off all the BW meetings. I'm sure that's because he doesn't want me there in the morning when he's not there because he can't monitor if I go upstairs to ask HR things.
Well if he says anything to me next week when I'm there for classes I'm going to tell him to talk to HR. I'd like to confront him about why he's such a control freak & lies about things that would be beneficial to his employees, but I don't want to come across as a smart-ass and let on that I'm on to his game.

Also Roxy told me that a previous HR lady was investigating him for embezzling money, but she died of a heart attack & all the evidence mysteriously disappeared. The subsequent HR people didn't pursue it even though the lady who died had the authorities involved & was in the process of doing depositions.

Anyway, enough about him. I think I've been dealing with a mild bladder infection or UTI for the past few days. I've had the sensation of having to pee urgently & frequently, but not much comes out. I've been drinking lots of herbal tea with rose hips to try to flush out whatever cooties got up in there. Today it seems like it's a little better. I'm still peeing more than I should be, but the feeling like I'm-going-to-burst-from-holding-it isn't there. Hopefully it'll be gone by tomorrow.

Self diagnosed. I don't have $ for a doctor & they'd just prescribe an antibiotic. It cleared up on its own in about the same amount of time as an antibiotic would have made it clear up. Unfortunately I didn't have any cranberry juice in the house.
Anyway, I feel much better today. I don't feel like I have to pee every 5 minutes. I think I've only gone 3 times in 8 hours so far, so that's about normal for me. :)

Well it is raining yet again today. :/
Yesterday I tried to grill some steaks & chicken before the afternoon rains started. I thought I could get it done in time. It was sunny when I got the charcoals prepped & lit, then about 10 minutes later it started pouring! I had to put the lid on the grill & extinguish the flames. It rained for about 45 minutes, then I went out & tried again. Just as the coals were about halfway to being ready, the rain started up again! I ended up having to move the grill onto the back porch under the little overhang. :/
It rained the whole time I was trying to cook, but luckily it wasn't coming down very hard. I was really pissed that QoH insisted on buying steaks when the weather forecast said 90% chance of rain all weekend. :/
At least everything turned out okay. The steaks were very tender. Today I took one of the chicken breasts along with the drippings from the chicken (I bake the chicken in the oven first before I grill it) and made a pot of delicious chicken & rice. :)

It seemed like the guy doing the class was trying to do a rush job so he wouldn't have to be there the full 4 hours. He asked everyone if we had taken a CPR class before and since everyone but 2 or 3 had not (I hadn't), he said okay this will be like a refresher. I think it could have been more thorough. It felt a bit rushed to me. We *did* finish an hour & a half early. I thought there would be more hands-on learning with the various dummies & the AED machine, but we were only required to do 30 chest compressions on the adult dummy. It was interesting & informative, and having the certification looks nice on a resume. ;P

Yes, learned how to do CPR, the correct way to do the Heimlich, & I can give someone's heart a jump-start with the AED machine. I also learned that we have 6 AED machines on our property & the locations of said machines. ;P

Today I had the second of the 2 classes that I had for this week. This time it was a class by the Dale Carnegie folks for customer service. There wasn't really anything new that I learned. I read the book How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie about 15 years ago & put a lot of those techniques into practice. It was nice to just get out of the house & see a couple work friends. :)
Oh, and I'm allegedly getting paid for the 2.5 hours that I was there. When I go in for work on Friday I'm going to ask if I was supposed to have clocked in for the CPR class. It would be nice to get paid for that one, too. :)

I first heard of that over 10 years ago when I first started researching NPD. I thought it sounded like a bunch of nonsense then & still do. You definitely should look for another therapist. IMO exposure therapy works. I got over my bad social anxiety with what could basically be described as method acting combined with exposure therapy. And not having QoH around me all the time for constant criticism helps, too. You have no idea how wonderful it is to go to work & not have her there barking out orders, criticizing, & questioning my every move.

Well Roxy has been busy doing some remodeling at her house. She's scraping up the ugly linoleum off her bedroom floor & removing the ugly 1970's paneling from the walls. She said there's terrazzo flooring under the lino, so she's just going to have it cleaned & polished. She's patching the walls & plans on painting them.
She's also worked some good concerts lately. First it was Iron Maiden a few weeks ago, then Kiss this past Tuesday night. Next Saturday she'll be working the Queen with Adam Lambert concert. :)

She eats a lot of different things actually. Lunch meats, steaks, burgers & hotdogs (no buns), smoked salmon, sardines..whenever I make popcorn she always eats almost half, so that's carbs. She also eats hummus all the time (more carbs). And blueberries..she has to have a couple kilos of those every week.

She has a full size like what I have. Idk if it's the same size that she had as a kid. Most kids have a twin size, not a full. I had a full size as a kid because some hotel threw it away & QoH brought it home for the spare bedroom. When I outgrew my crib, I got put into the spare bedroom with all the thrift store mismatched furniture. I never got any kids' furniture like my peers got. :/

It seemed like they used a standard soft tortilla for the wrapper. I could not identify any of the ingredients of the filling other than onions. Everything was minced up too finely. And the spices were Indian & not Mexican. It looked just like a regular burrito on the outside. It was pretty good IMO.
Well today at work they had a security /active shooter training meeting for the people who work up in the executive offices. Since I am friends with most everyone who attended, they asked me to stay & participate and have lunch with them. It was pretty basic info: run, hide, or fight. Also situational awareness & stuff like that. I also learned that our security cameras are linked up to the Ft Lauderdale Police Department. I knew that the outside cameras that are on the 2nd Street side of the building were linked, but I wasn't aware that all of them could be accessed by the PD if there was an emergency.

Our head of security who did the meeting said it's extremely unlikely. Unfortunately because of the shooting that happened at Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport & the Parkland shooting, and now the last 3 shootings around the country recently, everyone is all worked up and this sort of "training" makes them feel like they're being proactive.
In actuality(and more realistically), you're more likely to be killed in a car accident.
One good thing that I learned is they've been planting "unattended backpacks" to test how alert the ushers in the theater are. (They are to report unattended bags & such to security.) You get a $25 gift certificate as a reward if you find one. I will definitely be on the lookout now. ;P

I was off today and did the grocery shopping. When I got home, QoH started acting crazy & was threatening to get a lawyer to sue me(because I paid the Sam's club membership renewal). She was screaming & got in my face & jabbed her finger in my back when I was putting something in the refrigerator. The best thing I can do is to go lock myself in my room when she is like that (I've been locked in my room for 4 hours so far). When I was going up to my room she was mocking me in the most childish way that I was "running away". I truly despise her.

Yes if we get a direct hit. And it depends on how strong the winds are. If below 50 mph winds, businesses would still stay open. If the conditions got too bad, everybody closes until it passes. Then if there are power outages, you can't be open for business until the power comes back on. :/
I forgot to mention that Roxy was working at the merchandise table last night for the other show in the smaller theater. I popped over a couple of times after the patrons went in to the show and got to chat with her for a bit. She also wanted me to take a couple of pics of us with the merchandise. Well tonight I'm just babysitting the Cultural Affairs meeting. Idk why they brought me in for this. It's something that our CEO, the Broward Workshop people, and some people involved with promoting the arts do where they discuss different ways to promote the arts & get people interested in the arts.
And why is it so boring?
Because there wasn't anything for me to do other than sit around and wait for them to finish. At the end, 2 of the ladies that I know from BW were praising me to the CEO. He had brought a tray of assorted chocolates that no one ate, so I took them home. :)

I have meeting with a doctor who works with social services tomorrow for a "medical check-up". The meeting is in my local library strangely. I know that place well of course. I'm guessing it won't be an extensive check-up, just a conversation.

Well tonight we have the B-52's, Berlin, OMD concert. We were busy like hell in here in the intermezzo! I think all the VIP rooms were sold out! I made $34 in tips so far. :)

We've gotten wonderful news regarding the hurricane! The latest advisory has it making a sharp turn to the north before it gets to Florida! All the worst of it will stay out in the ocean. I'm very happy for some friends from high school who live up by Stuart which was originally supposed to get a direct hit. I doubt we'll get much of anything where I live. Maybe some rain. Basically nothing different than we've been having for the past month.

It's not really that nice. It's been creeping along like a turtle, winds have gone up to 185mph (making it a tie for strongest Atlantic hurricane ever recorded which is completely insane!), & now it's not turning north so quickly like it was predicted, so we will probably get some mild tropical storm force winds here along with rain. :/

I have nowhere to go. I wasn't supposed to go back to work until Wednesday, but the meeting was cancelled last week as a cautionary measure because no one knew exactly where the hurricane was going to go, how long it was going to take, or how strong it would be. I'm still scheduled to go in on Thursday, thank God! I'm going crazy stuck here with QoH!
We didn't have any dangerous wind or anything here. Yesterday we had some fast moving thunderstorms, but not much wind. Today there was a bit of wind and a couple of light sprinkles. Not really much to amount to anything. It's just gloomy outside.
In other news, my diet has been a bit of a disaster the past few months (eating too many carbs & sugar) and I've put on about 5 pounds that I'm having a hard time getting rid of. So today I've started drastic measures--no sugar or carbs (flour, rice, bread, pasta, etc) for a week & daily exercise. I'll see what happens. Also no artificial sweeteners. I'll just be drinking water, green tea, or ginkgo ginseng tea.

I don't know why you're getting so worked up about it. I'm still eating regular food, just not refined sugars or carbs. The first day & a half I was having cravings for junk, but that finally passed. I'm just letting the crap clear out of my system.

The Pray the Gay Away show with the Zakar twins. I guess the props were for the meet & greet after the show so peeps could get pics with the twins. They are very nice guys. Roxy got them to sign a book for her mom. :)
Today I had to set up 3 rooms with 2 of my coworkers. The 3rd coworker didn't show up. It wasn't too difficult, but we did get some exercise, which was a good thing because I ate 2 more pieces of key lime pie that I had saved from Sunday night. Then the chef made some jambalaya so we had some of that before we left. Now I'm hungry again. That's the bad thing about eating crap, makes you crave more crap. :/

I was watching some stupid movie about a witch killing monks in an abbey last night. I don't remember what it was called.
There's a series called Forged in Fire that I like. It's a competition between 4 bladesmiths each episode where that have to make a certain style blade using the techniques & parameters specified for each episode. The top 2 move on to compete against each other by making a specific type of blade at their home forge. They are given 5 days to do so, then come back to the competition forge to have it tested. The winner gets $10,000. I think it's a pretty cool show. Not much on of interest to me these days.

The cabal that runs things likes to have their meetings super early. There was a rehearsal in the room that they use the night before, so no one set up for the meeting the day before like normal. I had to come in earlier than normal to set the room.

Yes, she stole $20 out of my wallet a few weeks ago. She has stolen money out of my wallet before, and she stole $87 of tip money that I was saving and had hidden in the pocket of one of my coats in my closet. That really took some effort by her to find that. I've had to come up with a much better hiding place for my tip money, and now I take my wallet, keys, and security badge into the bathroom with me whenever I shower & wash my hair because that is when she seizes on the opportunity to steal from my wallet when I'm in the shower.

I really hate having people get my hopes up just to get let down. My dad used to do that. Used to get me excited about doing certain activities then we never would go. My ex-best friend from high school used to do the same. Would ask me if I wanted to go to hockey or the movies, then would go without me then tell me what a good time she had. The night before the first 6am shift I had to take a pill to get to sleep. I hate to do that because you don't really get restful sleep. It just knocks you out & then the next thing you know it's time to get up. I don't think I dreamed or anything. I ended up feeling like shit the whole day. Then by the time I got home I was fighting to stay awake until bed time because if I dose off for a nap I'll never fall asleep at bedtime. At least the night before the 2nd 6am shift I had no problems falling asleep naturally. Last night, either. I don't feel too bad ATM.
I was only scheduled to work 4 hours today, but it's hardly worth my time to get out of bed that early for 4 hours, so I helped my coworkers set up a room for a couple of hours just so I could get 6 hours. None of the bosses said anything about it. ;D
Anyway, when I left work, I drove up by Parker to see how the renovations were progressing. It doesn't appear that they've started any of the new construction. Well we've been having "fall-like for Florida" weather the past few days. It's windy, but the humidity has been relatively low for here, only in the upper 40's %. And the overnight low temperatures are in the mid to upper 70's instead of the low 80's. :)
Tomorrow I have to go to the stupid annual meeting for my department at work. I don't want to go but it's mandatory. The only upside is they're supposed to be feeding us dinner even though it's highly likely that it's just cheap ziti with marinara & salad like last year. :/ I'm seriously considering stopping at the convenience store across from the parking garage and buying a beer to drink before I go in for the meeting. Well the other night at the meeting I was buzzed from the Heineken that I drank before the meeting. During the meeting, I was drinking some of the White Claw that Roxy brought with her. After the meeting the boss decided that he was going to open the bar & let everyone have a drink. I had a Michelob Ultra. Then Roxy & I went to the Hustler store. When I got home I probably had to get up 3 times during the night to pee. I didn't sleep well & had a mild headache when I got up so I took some ibuprofen. Then QoH wanted me to take her to buy a new phone, but like always, she waits around all day, so we didn't get there until late. Found a Samsung for $80. When we got home I tried to switch the sim card, but it wasn't working. I told her that I'd take it to the T-Mobile store after I got home, today but she blew up & said I want to leave her without a phone(we have a landline). I said I have to get up at 4am, I can't be out late! But she insisted & was very nasty so luckily there's a store close to the house. We went there, the guy put the sim in (it needed the adapter thingy & it went in another slot, I had it in the wrong one), then we came home & QoH wanted me to write out instructions for how to use it. :facepalm: anyway, I didn't sleep good & feel like shit now. :/
