Back on the bike

(I know that this is very likely boring the life out of Arekino.  I don't think he cares too much for my exercise posts!  LOL)

Even though I didn't really feel like it, I managed to get myself on the exercise bike and do my 10 minutes worth.  So what if it was 11:30 at night?  Still counts!  I was tired all day but I knew that I would eventually get around to it.  I didn't do as quick a pace as I normally do.  I only did four kilometers instead of my usual five.

Tomorrow, I'll probably be back to doing my quicker pace.  Soon I'm going to see about either increasing my time or upping the resistance level on the bike.  I'll probably just increase the time.  I don't want to make it difficult too soon.

I'm determined to keep this up for a month.  If I actually accomplish this goal, I'll be very proud of myself for sticking with it.  That, and I'll likely have some shapely legs to show off, too!  I'd like to have legs muscular enough to crack walnuts.  ;P

The last time I had to take my mother to her doc appointment, one of the medical assistants was trying to chat me up.  He asked me what kinds of sports I do (I guess I still look athletic even if I don't feel like it at the moment) and I blurted out 'mountain biking' even though I haven't been in ages.  It's kinda funny, though.  I don't know how old he thinks I am.  I'm likely old enough to be his mother (just barely ;P).  Anyway, all good for the ego.  At least I'm not quickly approaching middle age while fat, out of shape, unhealthy and repulsive like some of my friends from school.  I know I probably sound like a conceited ass for saying that, but I never want to be that way.  Life's too short to look and feel like crap.

That's the spirit!

Good for you. Maybe you can have another chat with him next time. Exercise your flirting muscles. :)

Why? It's not like you're claiming to be perfect or even just better than those friends. You like your body to be a certain way. Nothing wrong with that.

Not interested.

And what are you up to, Arekino? Is it starting to feel like spring yet? Have you been out for any good long walks or bike rides?

A little. This weekend the temperature is predicted to reach 20 degrees Celcius. We've had a massive hailstorm today though. April does what it will, apparently.

Have you been out for any good long walks or bike rides?

Not yet.

I'd gladly trade places with you--it's already 26 or 27 degrees Celsius here and humid. I do. not. like.

Any damage? How big were the hailstones? We were supposed to have hail last weekend. I went and moved the crap in the carport so I could put my car in there and then it didn't even rain. Some areas a bit north of here ended up getting the nasty weather and the hail.

Okay. I'm trying something new here. I'm stuck for ideas to do posts on so is there anything you'd like me to write about? Anything about myself or where I live that you'd like to hear about? I'm doing requests. ;P

No damage. The hailstones were about 1 cm in size. I took pictures. I can send them to you.

is there anything you'd like me to write about?

I suppose you could review the highs and lows in your life. Or pranks you've played on people. Or your pets.

What kind of atmosphere is there where you live?

Or pranks you've played on people.

Just off the top of my head I can think of one I did to a girl in my 5th grade class. A group of us girls was sitting on the floor--I don't remember why or what we were doing--but I got the devilish impulse to untie her shoe laces and then tie them together. When she got up and went to walk she took quite a spill. I felt like an asshole after that. I sometimes get wicked impulses. It's best when I don't act on them.

What kind of atmosphere is there where you live?

It's around 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, .9% argon, .03% CO2, and trace amounts of other gases at around 14.7 psi. ;P

In other news, I was pretty sure that I was dying from some grave illness, but it turns out that it's just my right ovary laying an egg. :/ My body and Ma Nature are very unhappy with me right now.

Did you read about how scientists discovered a new species of Wicked Smart-alecs? ;P

Are you sure it's the right one? You have my condolences BTW (or congratulations).

Hi Arekino! Sorry I wasn't around all day. I had a serious disaster at my house on Friday night, well, technically 1:15 Saturday morning.

I had just taken a shower and went downstairs to the kitchen to finish making my tabouleh when I heard a strange spraying noise coming from the laundry room. When I went to investigate, the water heater tank was spraying water everywhere and the laundry room was flooded.

I had to turn the water off at the main outside since this is an old house and each appliance doesn't have its own shut-off supply line.

I ended up cleaning that mess up for an hour. Now there will be no water in the house for the weekend and until whenever the company from which we lease the water heater sends someone out to replace our broken one. You never realize just how much water you use in a day until you don't have any. This totally sucks!!!

Why? Are you writing scientific articles now? ;P ;P ;P

Are you sure it's the right one?

Yeah, that's where the pain was at.

You have my condolences BTW (or congratulations).

I've started drinking a special herbal tea with gotu kola and red clover to get my body to chill the hell out.

Hey, that's a goodly bit of hail ya had there. The most hail I ever saw was in Daytona Beach. The stones were about that size but about 3 inches deep. It looked like it had snowed! And it came down heavy for only 5 minutes. O.o

What about drinking water?

gotu kola

...is apparently also an afrodisiac :). The use of red clover seems not without risks.

I have 5 or 6 cases of bottled water as hurricane supplies.

Huh. Didn't know that. Anyway, it's Jason Winters Herbal Tea if you'd like to look it up.

OMG, I'm sooo tired and stressed from this stupid water heater thing. I have a bunch of cabinets and crap to clear out of the laundry room so that workers can get in there to remove the old tank and put in a new one. Two of the cabinet units are on wheels so those aren't too much of a problem, but the other two tall units are not on wheels. I have to unload all the crap out of those two so they can be moved.

Then my mother got the brilliant idea that those two needed to be on a platform with wheels like the other two so I had to spend $44 yesterday at Home Depot buying supplies to make one.

I just finished putting the thing together a while ago. I'm having a bit of a rest and then I'm going to have to go clear out the laundry room. What a pain in the ass. There's really no room to put that crap in the rest of the house.

Once I unload the two tall cabinets and get them on their wheeled platforms they'll be too tall to fit through the doorway. I'll just have to shove them to the wall where the two short ones are.

This is all such bullshit. And my mother makes it more stressful and complicated than it needs to be. Oy!

Yeah, that sounds expensive. Is there a silver lining to this cloud? Maybe the new one is more reliable? Heats the water quicker? Something?

Sounds like you're getting quite the work out. Good thing you know how to handle yourself in a crisis.

Yeah, it could be anywhere from $350-$1500 on up.

Is there a silver lining to this cloud?

Absolutely! I don't have to pay because it is a lease and part of the contract is if anything happens then they have to send a technician out at no additional cost even if they have to replace the whole thing--which is what has to happen! :D

Sounds like you're getting quite the work out.

Unfortunately, it's making me not be able to do my bike workout. I'll have to resume that when all this mess is fixed.

Good thing you know how to handle yourself in a crisis.

It would be easier if I didn't have the old woman getting in the way.

Oh, booooo!!! :(

Ah, yaaaaaay!!! :) Wait, you don't have to pay for *anything*? Not even for the new tank?

the old woman getting in the way.

Maybe you can put her on wheels as well and roll her into a closet? ;P

Nope! Behold the miracle of this particular lease contract! :D

And the company sent out two guys this morning about an hour after we called. It took them about three hours to get everything switched out. We are now back in business! I am so, so happy! Woo-hoo!!!

Maybe you can put her on wheels as well and roll her into a closet? ;P

She made sure that she talked their ears off and annoyed them the whole time they were trying to fix the thing. :( So embarrassing.

Neat. Excellent service. What's the firs thing you did with your brand new hot water?

So embarrassing.

Well, strictly speaking she only embarrasses herself.

Excellent service.

Yeah, the response time was pretty good. Although if you add up all the monthly payments over 20 years, the price of the new heater and install service was more than paid for. It's just easier having the lease because if something happens, then you don't have to shell out a lot of money in one lump sum.

What's the first thing you did with your brand new hot water?

Wash my hands. ;)

I had at least 50 gallons of water in a plastic garbage can out back that we keep for emergencies/hurricanes so I used water from that for showers and I had one of those sport-style water coolers that my neighbors let me fill up at their house for washing dishes and hand washing.

she only embarrasses herself.

I don't think she has any sense of embarrassment. :(

Anyway, I should have a new post up for tomorrow. There was a really great ladies MMA fight that I want to post about. :)
